Tips on fixing bricked ZTE Warp - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

It took me forever to find out how to do this simple process. I was being stupid one day with my rooted ZTE Warp, and tried to change the system font. Something went wrong, and it wiped the OS on it. This may also work on other devices. If you go to the ZTE website, go to devices, then the ZTE Warp. Click on support, and download the update utility. Open the update utility, it will ask to upgrade the utility, do it, it won't work without the update. Then follow the instruction, enter FTM mode and it should work, it will wipe all of the data on your device, but it fixed mine. If you have any problems, post a comment and I'll answer as soon as possible, Good Luck!!
Note: I am not responsible if your device breaks.

another method would be to flash easy root or n00b ROM from stock recovery or cwm. EasyRoot would allow you to then install a custom or stock rom back on the phone. n00b ROM would install that rom and it works from either stock or cusom recovery, both these would get out out of a soft brick.
for a hard brick if you can still get to ftm mode the method posted is the best way to go if you can't get into recovery.

I was trying to carrier unlock my phone, and to do that i tried to downgrade it 4.3 to 4.1.1, and only after i had pressed the button, i had noticed that this might brick my phone in a comment in one of the forums, this is what i did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625461
after following this and trying to run odin with it, odin returned "FAIL", and due to my high level of stupidity at the time, i tried to use the original 4.1.1 as my PDA in odin right after, i didnt reboot or anything, just pressed start again with the other tar.md5 file....
so now i cannot go past the samsung galaxy s3 logo when booting. I CAN go into download mode though, but i have no clue what i am supposed to do afterwards
i have the Galaxy S 3 i747 (was 4.3 before the whole mess) at&t carrier, i am trying to unlock it because i am travelling and need a phone.
please help me fix it, i do not care about the warranty since i dont have it anymore anyways, as long as the phone is working
also, if possible, i also need to unlock it afterwards, any help is HIGHLY appreciated, thanks!

Downgrading your boot loader from 4.3 is a guaranteed brick. I'm not sure if the brick will get you to the Samsung screen.
If you're already assuming its bricked reboot into recovery and do a full wipe. Restore a nandroid of something if you have one or try flashing a custom ROM. Because Odin failed maybe it never flashed the boot loader.
Worth a try

Welcome to the forum! Wished you'd come in much earlier though as you would have found you CANNOT downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 to free unlock. Sorry, but once you are on 4.3, the surest way to unlock is to obtain the unlock code from the carrier or purchase one online. Sounds like you do have a soft brick. If your phone is still booting to the Samsung logo, then it's only a soft brick. Attempting to downgrade the 4.3 bootloader usually results in a hard brick so you may be in luck.
To fix this first, try to see if you can boot to recovery mode and do a hard wipe/factory reset. If you are able to boot to recovery (or download) mode then you have little to worry about. If the reset does not work, you can flash custom recovery via Odin and follow the instructions in the thread below to restore stock 4.3. Afraid, you have to revert to full stock 4.3 to get the phone back in working order and don't even think about 4.1.1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
If you are not able to get to recovery, then you can see if you can boot from a debrick image following the instructions (on the first page) of the thread below ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
Once your phone is working normally, you can request the unlock code from AT&T via the request form below. If eligible, they should provide this. Otherwise, you would have to buy one online ....

Let me know if you need any further help.

It's time to start reading. Before doing any flashing/modding, you should make sure you understand what you're doing and know the risks.
Now as for Odin, it's quite straight forward. Phone needs to be in download mode, you put the PDA file in Odin and flash (if it's a Odin one-click, just need to hit start). One thing is to not interrupt it! Especially if flashing bootloaders cause that will brick your phone. Also, don't downgrade bootloaders.
There are a few guides in the sticky, I suggest you take an hour or two reading them so things like that don't happen again (or that you know what to do if it does).
GL!

Alright. If wipe/reset didn't work, you'll need to restore full stock 4.3 via custom recovery. Here's what we need to do....
1) Download the Odin flashable *.Tar file for custom recovery. I prefer TWRP because of the GUI so that's where I'm pointing you to ...
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/d2att/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-d2att.tar
2) Download the stock restore file for 4.3 from the thread below... If you are using TWRP, then the first link is the one you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
3) Copy the stock restore zip file to a good quality (micro) SD card
4) I presume you have Odin already so you will use this to flash custom recovery to your phone. Run Odin.exe on your PC. If you are using Odin v.3.09 then you need the AP tab. For all other versions, use the PDA tab. Navigate to the custom recovery *.Tar file you downloaded earlier and place this in the PDA (or AP tab). Leave the default settings as is and do not check/uncheck any boxes other than the default settings.
5) Boot the phone to download mode via the 3-button combo (Volume Down/Home/Power). When you get to Odin (Download) mode, press volume up to continue. Connect the phone to your PC with a good quality micro USB cable. Wait until Odin has recognized the device then click on the Start button to start firmware installation (flashing). Wait for the flashing to end and the <Pass> message. Disconnect the phone from the PC and pull the battery to stop auto reboot.
6) Place the micro SD card with the stock restore zip in your phone. Replace the battery and boot to recovery mode. If you were successful with the firmware flashing above, it should boot you to custom recovery.
7) Select install from external card and navigate to the stock restore zip file. Select this file and swipe the screen to start firmware installation. Wait for installation to complete. Then clear your cache/dalvik and reboot to system.
This will hopefully do it.

[Q] Stuck in download mode

Hey all,
I recently put the lolipop AOSP rom onto my G Pad, but wanted to revert it back to the stock software.
I plugged it into the computer and tried using the recovery tool, but it did not work, so I put the G Pad into download mode and it gets to a point where it has downloaded the software and is deploying it, but then fails every time.
I tried the offline KDZ method, but when the support tool loads it checks the connected device and always tells me to unplug it and try again.
Does anyone have anything in mind I could try or requires more information to offer a suggestion to me?
Thank you in advance.
I was in the same position a few hours ago. I downloaded the official LG Support tool (drivers and tool available HERE). Launch the LG Support tool, go to Options -> Upgrade Recovery and follow the steps. It should dowload the latest available official formware (V50020D) and flash it to your tablet. I'd recommend a factory reset, since you have CM installed on it. This procedure didn't erase /data (I've done it twice while trying to flash a custom recovery on it). Then you must use LG Flash Tool 2014.zip to flash an older firmware that has a bootloader that allows installing of a custom recovery. After flashing V20B or V20A, you must root it and flash a custom recovery (I'd recommend THIS ONE). It seems a little complicated, but this is the only way to un-brick it (it worked for me).
Get the apk from THIS thread after rooting your tablet (it should flash TWRP 2.8).

[Q] Problems w/ Root & Custom Recovery on LG LS980...and I only have Ubuntu access...

[Q] Problems w/ Root & Custom Recovery on LG LS980...and I only have Ubuntu access...
First off I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm probably not as tech savvy as I should be for someone running Ubuntu. I do not have access to a Windows computer. My gf has a Macbook Air but I know she's tired of me running my phone experiments on it. Here's the problem that I'm in. I have spent hours upon hours of research and made numerous attempts at this and I just can't figure it out. I have an LG LS980 and I'm running the ZVE update (phone already had ZVE on it when I bought it). I do not have root or CWM or TWRP. I have been trying to root, install CWM or TWRP and then switch to CM 11. I originally rooted my phone, then, because of an incessant error issue (it would pop up repeatedly every second making the phone unusable) I had to factory reset. Since that factory reset I have not been able to achieve root. I have tried everything (IOROOT, STUMP, TOWELROOT) nothing. Stump says that I'm rooted but SUPERSU says I have no binary. I figured I'd just go straight to a custom recovery and then flash a rom that is already rooted. However it appears that there is no TWRP or CWM for LG LS980 without root. I just can't figure out how to get root status back and how to install a custom recovery. I'm stuck and I need help. I've read about going back to a stock ZVC and starting all over again but I don't know how to do that. I appreciate any future help from you all.
Using LG Flash Tool, you can tot back to stock, and retry rooting. There are a couple of guides floating around here, I'd look for one of them and just follow it exactly to get root and TWRP set up, then you can try your hand at a custom ROM.
Edit- Not sure if LG Flash Tool works on Ubuntu. If it doesn't or you just want to play it safe, I'd borrow a friend's laptop to run it. It's pretty quick, like 5-10 mins if I remember correctly.
Yes I have read that but does anyone know how to do that on Ubuntu?

[Q] e980 rooted + TWRP recovery, flashing rom issues

I rooted my LG Optimus G Pro 4.4.2 via TowelRoot, installed SphinX, FreeGee, and installed TWRP recovery. I then flashed Cyanogenmod 10.2, and it (seemingly) worked well. However, I seem to have lost the ability to call others and recieve calls, but texting works, and I am disappointed with the battery life. It seems to not support reading the tilt of the phone, which I use with some of my paid for games.
So I flashed Beanstalk, and the installation seemed to work well, but on the reboot (after I had wiped before install and after, before rebooting) it gave error messages saying google services closed, and wizard closed. It gave me the option to report on both issues, but each time I closed one error window, the other would pop up, like in an endless loop. So, thankfully, reboot into recovery was a power button option in that rom (wish they all did that) and I then flashed back to CyanogenMod10.2. So I then decided to update Cyanogen to 12 via the built-in upgrade, and it also did the same thing, giving the same error messages in a continuous loop. So I finally was able to power up into recovery (for some reason, it seems to not work every time after shutting the phone off).
I am wondering if I can just flash back to the stock, and then debloat, or, better yet, can I just flash 4.1.2 to this device (I don't know if it ever had that OS) then root and debloat, as I do wish to use my wiimote. I have looked at the various methods to return to stock, but they seem to be quite confusing, as I don't read text-type very well, and most of the descriptions are typed this way. I would appreciate any assistance with getting these issues taken care of.
supersu unroot
Sorry for the double post, but I read that using supersu to unroot would brick the phone. Will this method simply return the phone to stock, or will it damage it?
Ok, so if I am understanding this correctly, to return an e390 to stock, you:
1. download and unzip the lg flashtool
2. download and install current lg drivers
3. download the dll and stock image
4. put phone into download mode and then plug into computer
5. run flashtool + make sure device manager port is com41
6. select dll and firmware, and finish
7. flash the modem-can this only be done with root?
What is step 7? Flash what modem?

Recover files from lg g2 bricked

So this is not my first time bricking my lg g2 ls980, I know I can go and flash the stock firmware but this time I don't want to lose the files on it because I have some important ones, the thing is my phone have the recovery 'secure booting error' and I CAN boot to download mode, I was using the rom 5.1.1 ressurection remix but I decidec to switch to cloudy g3 3.3 and when I tried to install the kk bootloader using a tool (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/d802-bootloader-changer-1-1-jb-kk-lp-t3104380) I didn't check a thing in the end (I don't remenber at all but I think it was to flash a custom twrp to prevent what happened to me) so now I have really good looking useless phone. (I have a nandroid backup on the phone too to prevent any problem except the one with the twrp )
I just want one of these 2 thing:
1-being able to flash a working twrp recovery via download mode or somehow (I really don't care the how)
or
2-A way to recovery my files before flashing the stock firmware
I know I may sound greedy but I really need those files and I know if I can do one of the 2 methods above, I'll be able to get those files.
Thanks in advance.
ps: if need more specific information, don't hesitate to ask
