I was charging my GNex on a Kindle cable. My foot got tangled and it dropped onto the flaw. Now it won't charge properly (very intermittent and only need a nudge to stop) on either of my two Kindle cables. It will charge ok from a different cable.
Have I damaged the port? Can it easily be fixed or will it need to go back?
Just bent the bit inside the port to align it back into the middle of the port hole (if that makes sense)
Be delicate and use a tooth pick.

Hmmm. Doesn't appear misaligned. Wouldn't that bugger up all cables?
It fixed it for me. Dont do it if youre not confident. Just use a cable that works
I've actually just recently run into a similar issue with the kindle cable.
It sits really loose and picking it up will cause it to stop charging. But the stock usb cable works fine still.

Hello everyone,
This is my 2nd note II. My first device had a few problems and now this one seems to have a loose charger port. Also, when I connect this device to my tv via microusb, the tv screen flickers (could be an indicator of a faulty micro usb port). Has anyone had the problem of their charger wire falling out of the microusb port? What did you do to fix it? If you sent it to samsung did they return the device in working condition without any dings or scratches?
Thanks im adv

Mine was perfect for the first few weeks, but eventually got a bit loose so I replaced the USB cable which did the trick. Ive heard of other cases where the usb ports became loose, but not to the point of it falling off on its own.
Have you tried other USB cables on your phone?

hey i did try the usb wire that came with my samsung media dock... its a bit more snug, but it came off randomly after a while. my samsung otg usb cable fits great... the thing that concerns me is that sometimes when i connect my device to my media dock (uses the microusb port) which connects my phone to my tv, the screen on the tv flickers. this could be an indication of a faulty microusb port... but heres the confusing thing, ive tried transferring files to and from my computer via microusb and it works fine, so that would be an indication of a working usb port.
from what you have heard or read, was the consensus a problem with the usb port or the wire?
thanks
Yes, the wire was the culprit based on my reading.
Better have your phone checked. Im sure it's well within Samsung's warranty period
Ironically the best cable i use is a blackberry one, excellent secure fit

My Galaxy Nexus isn't charging or connecting to my computer. I've tried different USB ports, wall adapters, and USB cords and nothing. I don't really want to replace the charging port. What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

Delete this thread!
I accidentally put this in the wrong section! Thanks!
Check the charging port for Lent and stuff with a little pin or something..
That's what happened to me in the past
I cleaned it out and start to work again

Of what cujo said didn't work you have no option but to replace the port or buy an external battery charger.

In a pinch you can rig up a temporary charger using the POGO pins on the right side of the phone. Just wire the corresponding red/black wires from a cut up USB cable to the correct pins (you can find the pinouts online). The trick is getting the wires to stay on the pins - you can try packing tape. I know this is kind of a dirty solution, but it will work in an emergency until you can replace the usb port.

Can you link me to the part I need to replace! And a video of how? And how expensive is the part in question? My Galaxy Nexus isn't my main phone but I just wanted it working again.

Well, there is no guarantee that it is the USB board - but you can purchase one on ebay for under $10. The part includes a usb jack as well as a ribbon connector that connects the jack to the main board. There is, however, a chance that you have a faulty main board, in which case, replacing the USB port is not going to fix your problem but the only way to really test that is to buy the part and try it out.

That's for a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, I don't remember which one you said you had but you'll want to be sure to get the right one.

Are you using the original charger that came with the phone? It's the only thing i have luck with.

I ordered the new port! But I tried the pogo port charging and it didn't seem to work.
I have had my Nexus 7 2013 pretty much since launch date and I have always had a problem with the micro usb cables coming loose (I have tried various ones). This has never really been a major issue until recently I bought a OTG Y cable to connect it, and then to connect a Wireless adapater to it for using Kali Tools on my tablet.
The problem is, the slightest touch to the cable, and I mean you only have to look at the cable and it comes loose effectively disconnecting and interrupting the power from the OTG and wireless adapter.
Is this a known problem and is there a fix?
The cables just never seem to go far enough in and wobble side to side far too easily, so although it was never a major problem for me before I am finding it extremely annoying and frustrating right now!
Thanks
Take the back cover off, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to GENTLY squeeze the connector back together, replace back.
I had been somewhat unlucky and while charging my beloved FLO something went puf (literally). After that I don't have any USB connectivity. Charging my N7 works (very slowly), but no USB OTG or USB ADB. OK Fine and dandy if I wouldn't be total idiot and wipe system while trying to install new ROM before transferring ROM image to internal storage.
Now I have FLO paper clip able to go to TWRP but can't install nothing. As far I understand there's no way to enable wifi in TWRP.
Any ideas what would needed to be replaced to make my FLO work again so I can put some ROM on it and make it work again.
I'm not sure if USB daughter board would suffice and solve my problem. Any suggestions?

Either the USB port developed "dry joints" or the wide silver cable (LCM) needs to be re-seated on both connectors.
Disconnect the battery before fixing LCM cable. Here is advice on USB port repair.
Replacing the daughterboard PCB should be the last resort because it is unlikely that the touch function will work 100%. It would work if we had access to the touch calibration software - the problems are described here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...rivers-to-calibrate-touch-screen-usb-t3334898

I doubt re-seating would help or cleaning USB port, since it was something electrical happening with that *puf*. If my memory serves me right there was a smell of burnt electronics. I doubt that some shortage disconnected any cables.

Sounds like you need a new charging port and board. Easy to fit but difficult to get hold of one. Maybe purchase a broken Flo on eBay and extract the charging port board

Even tho charging works? The only problem is data part of USB connection. USB OTG will not work neither will it connect to a PC for file transfer/adb. But if connected to PC or plug device charges. I believe it will not charge past 80 or 90%.

Hi everyone.
I have my Pixel 2Xl for about 2 Years and everytime I put it on the charger the OG USB C Cable falls out of the port. Do anybody know how to fix it or do you know any USB C Cable that have a bigger USB C Pin so that the cable doesn't fall out every time?
Thanks
Have you checked very carefully that there is no crud in the usb port, you can use a pin and may be surprised on what is in there, my thinking is that it is possible dirt may be stopping a good connection.
Yes I have check the port. The Problem is that the cable fall out of the phone and I have test the feature with 3 different cables and every cable fall out
Had the same problem. Get a sim ejector tool, and use it to remove the gunk from your charging port. It wouldnt be visible as such, but you might be able to "feel" it as the base of the port would appear uneven when you move the ejector tool`s pin around. You would be surprised to see how much gunk and lint is there in your port. Once properly cleaned, your cable should start clicking in properly.
A safer method is to clean the gunk with a tooth floss stick.
