Change Device ID - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I am trying to find a way to change the Device ID but I can't find out where it's at on the phone. I am trying to get another account with a game but it recognizes the phone even after I change the android ID...so I figure it must be using the Device ID.
I am using a Verizon Nexus if that changes anything.
Is there anyway to change the Device ID?

if you're rooted, buy titanium backup, go to settings -> manage android id -> create new (random) android id
---------- Post added at 06:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------
ps: idk if the the option is available in the free version

I am looking for a way to change the device ID. I have tried changing the android manually and with an app called change my id. But the game must not check the android ID because that doesn't make a difference.

which game?

Deity wars. It recognizes that the device has been used even when I change the android ID

it is probably using the phone number or your gmail address in your accounts
these 2 permissions would give them that information
PHONE CALLS
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
Allows the app to access the phone features of the device. An app with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
USE THE AUTHENTICATION CREDENTIALS OF AN ACCOUNT
Allows the app to request authentication tokens.

Try Privacy Blocker. It's not free, but it has options for you to change/spoof almost all identifying info on your phone, including the ones mentioned by Zepius

or run miui and block it from acessing those things

I've tried Privacy Blocker. Unfortunately doesn't work even when blocking everything.
I'm trying to get Rage Of Bahamut to acknowledge I'm using a different device (even using change device id programs doesn't work).
Any ideas how to do this?

WaveSecure - Free for Life/Device Lifetime Android Only

Hey guys, thought you might all find this sueful as I have and I find the pplication to run very well.
http://wavesecure.com
http://m.wavesecure.com - Anyone brosing on their phone can get it straight.
Or alternatively check the Market for it ...
I'm guessing it has to be installed on the phone before March 31 to get the free for lifetime offer, so for those of us still waiting for our Desires it won't be free.
However, I am unsure how much use this app has, since a hard reset is always an option. After that, the phone can be sold (or used) "as new" by the perp. Granted, your personal data is safe in this case, but to make the phone unuseable, you'll have to get the IMEI banned with the network.
Hardreset seems to be the only way to remove it but then again how many people get a phone and hardreset it before it even boots?
If you're quick enough and the person is slow enough you may be able to get the location of the phone.
As it's free I thought it might help even a little in such situations ...
The end date is a major shame . The good think is though it works on other devices, may be possible to ask them to transfer from one device to another.
A knowledgeable thief would probably do a hard reset, but at least your personal data (that is not on the memory card, that is) is safe that way.
I've sent them an email asking about the end date and whether it has to be installed on the phone before that date to be valid. I'll report back when/if I get an answer.

There is an app on the Market to combat this, if you uninstall either it will lock and you need to put your pin in ...
Hey guys,
I figured out how I can get WaveSecure for free before the end date and without having the Desire yet. Basically I have a dual boot with Android on my Diamond 2 and I installed WaveSecure on that from the Android market and registered my phone and SIM with it. When you go on the WaveSecure website, login to your account then go settings and there is a disconnect option. From there you can disconnect the current phone from the account and connect a new one. So when I buy a SIM free desire I will put my current SIM in it and change the device from the website.
Hope this helps some of you.
That's REALLY impressive. Nice find!
I downloaded the .apk using a Spoofed User Agent on Firefox to make the Wavesecure website believe I was browsing using the Android Browser.

Excellent, thanks!!

Barclays Pingit doesnt work for root users.

Ive recently downloaded the barclays pingit app for my dhd and the app has a built in checker to see if your phone has root access and denies you access to the app if you are.
does anyone know a way of tricking the app into thinking im not rooted, ive been waiting for a barclays mobile app for android since ive been on android and now they have one i cant use it.
thanks,
Nathan
Yes I want to do this also; I am wondering if I could temporarily turn off Super-User on my SGS2, would I then be able to configure Pingit, hoping to turn SuperUser back on and then run it OK.
maybe
could always try renaming the SU folder. This will temporarily unroot the device, but you might need to do that by adb. The only reason the app is blocked from rooted devices is to protect you though. If you forced your way passed security and were frauded then banks arent so kind at refunding you if you are a victim of fraud.
I believe the app will be opened up to rooted devices later on, I know the beta pingit worked on rooted devices, but crashed. Might have been due to me using ICS though.
Spoken to Barclays about this
Ok, so after a couple of usual answers from the normal ill informed call handlers, I was told that "not many people use a rooted device"
Barclays I guess are not that bothered about missing out on a sector like myself, that run An It support company, and are small enough to not be able to afford Pdq machines, and wont to provide an alternative payment method to its customers. Given the nature of our business, it wouldn't be surprising that we would have rooted out devices...!
Anyway after much moaning, I still could not get a "real" reason why the Barclays developers, are worried about rooted devices..the only answer I was given was "the developers dont want rooted users changing or seeing their work" !!...
So the point of this reply is to post the email address I was given to email barclays about the lack of support for the app on a rooted phone.
I was told to put PINGIT in the subject field and send it to [email protected]
Who knows if enough people email them, they may realise its worth allowing the app onto rooted devices.

Good idea Chris, I have used this wording in my message to them;
“Pingit is just what I have been waiting for! However you have made it so I can’t use it on my fantastic Rooted Samsung Galaxy S2; I will not be giving up my phone to get Pingit, no I will simply change banks to whom ever first offers the same type App.
Goodbye Barclays”
PINGIT
I emailed Barclays (as per email address above), and was given this response:
It is not possible to download and use the Barclays Pingit App on rooted android phones and Jail broken Iphone as they could allow other
applications running on the devices to capture the five digit security passcode that is used to access the Pingit App which may result to fraud.
If we come across any phones that are being attempted to download the app through by passing this option they will be blocked for security
reasons.
Consequently at this present moment in time, we have no plans to allow either rooted or jailbroken phones to access the app.

Wouldn't a keyboard app capture that security key on unrooted devices, too? If so, surely logic follows that unrooted phones with custom keyboards should also be blocked.
The irritating thing about their explanation is that the root check happens after they ask for all your details. Security fail.
OK I got it working with the following step.
Install SuperSU
Install Voodorootkeeper.
Using Root explorer or similar. Go to sys/apps Rename superuser.apk to superSU.apk
Run Voodoo rootkeeper and temp hide root.
Pingit it should now work.

PayPal isn't a bank/building society and isn't regulated by the FSA. That means they don't have to follow "best practice" with regards to security. Barclays have tried to minimise all possible avenues for fraud.
Does the Pingit app use its own build in keypad or does it use whichever keyboard you have installed and selected?
It's own keypad.

[Guide] Activate Windows 8 Permanently

UPDATE: Personalization does NOT work in METRO. Everything works flawlessly and I tend to stay in desktop mode so I didn't realize this. DESKTOP MODE CAN BE PERSONALIZED. This still gives you enables everything I wanted so I don't see the problem. My metro background doesn't matter to me. I can also just install a win7 start menu, but again I have no issues and this works flawlessly.
A tool called "Windows 8 Activator For Build 9200 (Sep 2012)" (Google it, LINK BELOW) will permanently activate Windows 8. Specifically the latest build. Just run it and follow the simple instructions.

Understood. However for people who want to use all the features so they download the newest build (9200) but they run into activation watermarks and notifications. When Windows 8 comes out (October 26th) aka a long time from know, I will most likely buy a licence if not a Surface.
For now however this works. This gives you Windows 8 as it will be on October 26th. working perfectly. I have it on my Acer Aspire One 722 netbook and it works flawlessly AMD has a consumer driver preview for Windows 8 and everything runs smooth.

Same problem here, please contact me if you found a solution.
it doesn't let you personalize because Win8 isn't really activated, even though the messages tell you it is. The system files have been tempered with. Read more on MDL about this. It has been shown many times that it fakes activation.
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/th...if-any/page466?p=630762&viewfull=1#post630762
if you do a sfc /scannow and reboot you will see that your system is not activated. If you feel comfortable with it you can keep the files, however you need to realize that you are in fact not activated.
(to find out whether personalization works or not, got to the metro screen, move mouse bottom right corner to open settings in the charm bar, at the bottom you see Change PC settings, try to personalize Lock screen, start screen, account picture - if you are activated you have no problems here, if you are not it's likely greyed out)
best solution to get activated at the moment is to wait for a KMS server or wait until Oct26 to purchase it. You can try to register a PC you may purchase or already purchased here and hope that you only have to pay $15 when it comes out (for a PC you haven't actually purchased). It may or may not work. Many believe that MS won't be able to check that many registered PCs to see if these have actually been recently purchased. We will see.
good luck

the more important point is that you are not activated. System files have been replaced and sooner than later with a Windows Update these files will be fixed. Just letting you know and that you are aware of it. The system "fakes" activation - period. It spoofs some strings and flips some "switches" to make things appear that you are activated when in fact you are not.
You can do everything else without Win8 activation as well and use the system forever. You have the watermark and a reminder to activate. You can remove the watermark and activation reminder with the remover somebody made . However, that patch will not report that you are activated, it will only remove watermark and bypass activation message. Your OP reports on a nasty (not only my opinion) patch that replaces some system files that actually fake activation. You should at least change the statement that it will permanently activate Windows8, this is not true and has been proven to be fake (see MDL posts).
I personally don't like patches that replace system files that I am not aware of and that claim to give you activation when in fact it replaces text within dll's that fool you. If you want to be informed on how to activate Win8 I suggest reading the MDL forum about Win8 activation.

as much as I don't like his attitude, he is correct that it is malware.
It is not ACTIVATED! I downloaded to try and downloaded Microsoft something. I forget what its called but it checks for stuff on your computer that is not activated and Windows 8 was on there and said Windows 8 is not genuine. SO there you go.
I did manage to activate it permanently though by getting a serial number off a youtube vid and activate via UK Microsoft number and worked WITH personalize working!!!!

I gave you the advice you wanted about Truecaller. As the previous poster stated, you can disable it, or, as I advised, simply not use it. Getting offended because someone took the time out to respond is terrible manners.
You may need to be rooted to remove it and we do not know if you are rooted. We don't know if you are running a Lollipop or Marshamallow ROM either. You have not helped us to help you by not giving us your platform information.
Have you tried to install the Google Dialer from the modular GApps thread?
Be warned that they are targeted to 32bit ROMs. Do a backup!
You could also try CM Next dialer from CM C-Apps package. This also includes Truecaller, but it is trivial to disable it.
I am rooted and am on stock TOS208G with trucaller uninstalled. I replaced with caller ID & call recorder app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.callapp.contacts that I prefer.
I have found the phone does not display whose calling via contacts only by the true caller ap. Have I installed something in error or got a setting wrong please?

Caller ID is a stock feature of any basic dialer out there (Google/AOSP etc), it should not be dependent on True Caller.

I wonder if I can restart this discussion here -- I want to turn off TrueCaller, but in Google Play it says it's a System App and it does not appear at all under any name in the Settings - Apps listing (no matter whether showing or hiding system apps). What other options do I have?
I'm on Android 7.1.2. My TrueCaller has no options to either turn it off or to turn off the notifications it brings up (which is my main reason for wanting to get rid of it: for something that's blocking spam, it spams me far too much with stuff that I don't want it to do).

This should indeed be the case. Unfortunately, for us Swift (1st gen) users at least, this is now broken.
When Wileyfox migrated from CyanogenMod to Android they broke a few things along the way as well as doing a deal with the Devil aka Truecaller.
Unless your device is Truecaller enabled then caller ID simply will not work. We've tested at least two dozen dialers and contact managers (all from Google Play) and not one of them works with the Swift in its current firmware state. We even installed the APK of the Google Phone dialer (provided by WF themselves and which according to Google Play is incompatible anyway) and even this does not work.
Besides, how many dialers does a mobile ecosystem need anyway? One has to ask themselves why there are so many and why they nearly always require OTA registration to do what they offer....
But that's another matter altogether.
There are other issues too such as SMS alerts going off at full volume in the earpiece during an active voicecall; or the persistence of 'charge mode' when connecting via USB, even though MTP has been set in the developer options or from the status pull-down.
One thing it tells us is that the Swift cannot be running stock Android - otherwise these problems just would not happen. If not that, then it is that WF don't have a proper working build process or test protocol.
Either way, the Swift is damaged goods now and it might seem WF are prepared to kick it into the kerb. Probably the best option now is to try Lineage, assuming owners are savvy and even want to.
On the other hand we could band together to oblige WF to get an update released. We have been trying for months to get their attention, both before and since their buyout by STK. For those who are minded to, perhaps you would like to add your support by liking the following Facebook post:-
https://www.facebook.com/officialwileyfox/posts/1872330073078309
If enough give it the thumbs up then WF may be moved to respond. Please support this initiative if you can.
Thanks.

We think we have found a solution:-
It ought to be possible to disable Truecaller but not remove it entirely unless your phone is rooted and have other management tools. We have managed this is on our own device which is totally stock and never been tinkered with (7.1.2 Nougat, Build No: TOS257G – N2G48B).
Secondly, installing another dialler from Google Play or via APK will work but it's almost 100% likely that a further setting will need to be made: setting as the default phone app.
This can be done in two ways:-
i) Settings->Apps->Configure Apps (Gear icon in top bar).
ii) From the app drawer, drag the dialler app icon to the "App Info" drop zone at the top of the screen. Scroll down to the setting that says "Phone App" - it should be yes or no.
See attached screenshots for reference.
It seems to us that many owners think their Swift can't be used with any dialler other than Truecaller, when in fact they can; the mistake is on the part of the firmware which won't recognise another dialler by default and hence breaks the contact ID display when incoming calls are received (not to be confused with caller ID).
Hopefully this serves as a solution. :good:

Medical app not compatible - is it potentially achievable for me to get it to work?

Hi,
I use continuous glucose monitoring to monitor my blood sugar, as I am a type 1 diabetic. The CGM I use uses Bluetooth to sync with an app (Medtronic's Guardian Connect app) and gives blood sugar data, safety alerts etc., but this app is only compatible with selected Android phones, which doesn't include any Oneplus phones. I really like the Oneplus 7t so I would rather not sell it if possible, so I was thinking of trying to make it compatible with the Oneplus and removing the phone model block. This has been done before with a different medical manufacturer's CGM app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/help/medical-app-compatibility-t4015519 ), so I think it should be possible. Given my lack of programming ability, I was wondering if there are resources anywhere that might help with learning how to do this? Obviously they're not going to tell me "This is how you make this specific app work", but I'm just hoping to find some general resources on this type of coding. I have searched around with no success as I am not sure where to look. I gather it would take more than simply changing the buildprop file to trick the app into thinking it's a compatible phone.
Thanks.
Would help to know the app and what issues you're having. Is it not showing up in the play store? Does it give an error?

Sorry, not sure how I managed to omit all those details. The app is Guardian Connect (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.medtronic.diabetes.guardianconnect&hl=en). I am able to download it, but when I open it it says "incompatible with your device", as it's only officially compatible with a limited subsection of Android phones (https://guardianconnect.medtronic-diabetes-mena.com/en_gb/app-compatibility). However, the Dexcom app that I linked in the first post also has limited compatibility, yet people have managed to get it to work with other android phones, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be possible for me to do the same.
I can't link URLs properly yet as I'm a new user, so I had to add those spaces in the links.

Hello. Just wanted to inform you that I inserted the working links on your behalf (at least I assumed so).
I hope you'll find a solution for the issue soon.

Thanks for that
I have diabetes and want to use this app for checking my blood glucose level continiously on my oneplus 8pro phone but the app says its not compatible with the device. I don't know how to solve this problem.
Is there anybody who can help us with this?
Have you you guys tried to email the developer of the app to fix this?

Yep, they weren't helpful at all though, unfortunately - they just gave a generic "keep an eye on the compatible device list" response. In the end I gave up and sold a Oneplus and got a Samsung.
Hi!
I just had contact with medtronic Belgium and they said; the more people call us the more 'problem cases' go to the IT'ers in America. So they mean how faster the problem will be solved so just give them a call
Greetings

How can we fake the phone ID for an app?

Can't use unlocked bootloader or rooted phones for medical apps as less secure

https://apkpure.com/developer/Medtronic%2C%20Inc.
Here is the list of all Medtronic's apps. Download the APK, then select the file from your Downloads folder in the Files app.
You may be prompted about the app being from an unknown source or risk to your device. Ignore the warning, tap OK, yes, or allow if prompted.
Hope this helps and as the post above already said I would consider calling Medtronic customer service and asking them to make the app available to all phones.

Was actually hoping for a work around to use on phones that are not on the compatible list, i.e. for the app to not check for phone compatibility before starting.

I second this; rooted OnePlus 8 Pro running an A12 custom ROM
Personally I've actually come pretty close and was able to hide both Root and Developer Options from being detected using XPrivacyLua, but was unable to get MagiskProps working properly to get around the final "Your Phone is Incompatible" by spoofing as a Google Pixel (one of the primary "approved" devices) message, even after trying multiple older APKs combined with clearing data/cache

Thanks.
Actually the logic behind limiting the compatible devices boggles my mind because, other than replicating the screen of the insulin pump and sending data downloaded from the pump to health care providers, the app does not allow pump to accept commands from external devices. So I do not see what the concern is with allowing more devices to use the app...

There is no logic, just retarded medical industry bureaucracy BS.
I've contacted customer support multiple times and asked them the same question, only to get the same useless response of pretending to "pass on my feedback".
It's actually one of the reasons I wanna find out how to work around the problem even more; like who needs them to take proper control of a medical device that I own.
Would also be amazing to get a Wear OS app that displays the same or similar information to the app, but I don't see that being made by Medtronic for at least a decade.
