Hello all
I rooted my kindle fire and am currently running CM7.2
I turned off my fire the other day, when I turned it on today the wifi won't work. It says it connects to my router, but when i go into the about tablet area, it says there is no signal and no data being transfered.
I have no idea what to do.
Sometimes when you allow Google to restore your account and keep it backed up it causes issues... have you tried toggling of your WiFi on your kindle and back on? Or maybe do a good wipe and reflash cm7 and gingerbread gapps?
Edit: also resetting your router by powering it off and back on couldnt hurt..
Definitely turn off backing up / automatic restoring of apps and data in settings. Its under "backup and reset". Should solve your issues with weird WiFi connectivity.
If that doesn't work then check if other WiFi devices can connect successfully.

Looking for any ideas...
When I activate WiFi near a known network, it starts to connect, holds at obtaining an ip address, the disconnects and restarts the connection process.
Happens on multiple WiFi access points, home, work, hotel. Rebooted my home router in the hopes that it was coincidence, but it did not help. Wife's Facinate and iPad, and both of our work laptops (Windows7) connect to the home network just fine.
Running CM7 Nightly 258
11/14 Incredikernel, downgraded to the unofficial 11/04 and the official 10/8. Even tried the stock CM7 kernel.
Was running the 08.08 radio, switched to the 07.07, but still have the issue.
WiFi works after a wipe and reinstall untill I reboot, then this starts.
My droid pro did that on cm7 for a while. It would connect if I went to the WiFi settings screen though. Have you tried going to WiFi settings while its in this connecting loop?

Unfortunately yes. I have turned on wifi from the notification widget and from inside settings and receive the same result, no connection and a big battery drain.
Fixed it over the weekend. In case others have problems with AT&T U-Verse 2Wire routers, the change I made that resolved it was to switch from the router default wireless security of WPA to WPA/WPA2...
I am having issue with my wifi, it has signal and show connected and its ip address, but it will not download or upload any data, it was fine a week ago when i was using android revolution, then i changed to ilwt, which then wifi act weird, wifi only download few mb, sometimes longer than it just stop working completely. then i changed rom as i thought it may be rom problem, complete wipe to JIBwich, problem still exist
Have you tried simply power cycling your WiFi router?
Hey guys
Been having an issue for as long as I can remember. I'm on cm9 nightlies...usually latest and whenever I'm at a friends house I can't seem to scan for wifi networks. My wifi works at home but its a hidden network I manually put in. As far as scanning for networks to join nothing comes up though. My list of networks will show previously joined networks and if I try to "forget" any of those nothing happens either.
Any ideas? I usually wipe cache and dalvik cache between flashing and prior to cm9 I was on stock...came with a clean wipe install too.
Edit: it seems like i can only scan and find networks while I'm connected to a network. I've just tried testing various times at home...while I'm connected to my network all of my neighbors wifi points show up. But if I disconnect from my network (leaving wifi on) nothing shows up. Anyone else experiencing this?
edit2: through my ocd I found this app that is a "wifi fixer" for older samsung phones....apparently it just clears out your wireless profiles....that seems to have done the trick and now i can scan for wifi normal again.
for future reference does anyone know where the wifi profiles file is located on galaxy nexus?
also you can close or put this as solved mods...thanks

Hey everyone I am using cm10 ROM and I think its awesome but the only problem is that every time I am using WiFi or using my mobile data plan the WiFi bars stay gray and I factory reset my device like 5 times and it worked and the WiFi bars turned blue when connected but right now I'm connected with WiFi and its working but the WiFi bars are still gray and I go to Google play store and it says no connection also in Google now is there a fix? Any help out there?
That's the biggest bug that i have experienced in cm10, that bug was there since i started installing nightlies, i wonder why they have not fixed it yet.
Do not ever ever turn off or restart your phone with the wifi on or it will going to lock up, always remember to turn the wifi off first.
If it locks up, the only fix is to keep on restarting your phone till it unlocks the wifi toggler
My wifi was working very well. One day suddenly it went off. Initially I thought it was a connection problem, but eventually I discovered that the wifi toggle switch refused to start. It was stuck.
In a bid to correct it I even did a factory reset. But wifi issue remained.
Did everything mentioned in various YouTube videos. But in vain.
Then I installed Cynogenmod but same wifi issue. So went back to 4.3 stock android.
Not satisfied, I flashed kitkat 4.4 . Most of time wifi connection remains. But when I turn it off and then again on. It does not connect.
The only way I can resolve d issue is by switching off the phone, removing the battery 4 a minute and restart. Wifi works until I keep it on. Once I turn it off and turn on back again, it does not connect.
(My router and Internet connection are fine)
Removing battery every time 2 start wifi is nuisance.
Pl advice.
