Looking for a [MOD] that will unlink notification/ringer volume - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anybody know if such a MOD exists? I've searched XDA and the internet, but haven't found one. I know several ROMs have the option to unlink (AOKP, CM, etc) so it's possible to fix this in the source code of Android. I could flash a custom ROM of course, but I'm happy with Jelly Bean stock except for this single issue. I've found dozens of MODs for the power menu, color stuff and all, but surprisingly nothing for unlinking. Looking through Google I'm not the only one who finds the linking annoying.
PS: I also know about the ICS enhanced ringer control app in the play store, but I think having an app running constantly in the background just to unlink volumes with a workaround is rather silly. This should be fixed lower level imho.

Nobody?

Bump?

Just use CM or AOKP, as you've said, and both have options for that. And both have JB versions, the CM10 kangs from here are really nice.

Yeah it looks that's what I'll do.

thoughts on best rom

I know this question will cause some debate but what would you say is the best rom for the galaxy nexus?
ARHD
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
What does that mean??
You didn't see a rom in the dec section that might be abbreviated ARHD? Or any of the other "what's the best rom" threads, for that matter?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
How about AOKP? Try that abbreviation
Terminators run on Android
I'm using rootzboat. I'm really good.

Definitely Android Revolution HD (ARHD). I tried others but none were as sweet as ARHD.
I used android revolution but was tired of being on 4.0.2 as the developer was waiting for Google to drop 4.0.3 binaries.
And Franco's kernel was for 4.0.3 only. So I started using Aokp and I simply love it. Aokp + Franco Kernel is a amazing mix for performance and battery.
Aokp also adds new features such as power saver to help with battery and with various status bar tweaks.
Aokp +, Franco kernel.... Nothing gets any better. Also Aokp pushes updates every other day so you can expect goodies every 3-5 days.

Always use Paul O'Brien Modaco roms. They simply work and let you get on with customising your phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
RootzBoat is by far my favorite. I like how it stay's true to AOSP and just adds little extras. Nothing too fancy and feels smooth.
I haven't installed one yet...I'm looking at Android Revolution and AOKP right now, but leaning toward the latter because I'd love to give Franco's a shot. Problem is I'm kind of thinking I should just wait for 4.0.3 to drop and go from there. I'd like to get it the day it drops, if possible.
Right now I'm just using stock rooted+unlocked with the 4.0.3 radio firmware. I'd love to install some graphical mods (mainly a status bar battery mod) but can't on Stock =(

I used arhd since getting the phone. But wanted 4.0.3. So switched to aokp. But for some reason had delays when unlocking the phone. And sometimes when typing. Tried wiping etc. No joy
So I am now using eagles blood with Franco kernal and can't fault it at all. Fb sync and the lock screen and great features.
For a perfect from I would want the power saver and UI mods of aokp. With the cm9 launcher mods. And the eb lock screen. Someone want to make it for me!

Haven't tried any others, but Axiom is great. Wait for 2.4 update for VZW services fix though.
AOKP looks cool. They have the HC quick settings menu and a slew of options. Pretty slick.
RootzBoat has a good rom too with lots of options. I just hate how they label everything RootzBoat (wallpaper, carrier id, etc). I'm also using AOSP CM9 Kangs too. They're all fun. I typically flip between them when one has a few feature that I like.
RootzBoat has a Centered clock option, notification LED color options, and a 4-way lockscreen... but no notification toggles.
I get awesome battery on my CM9 Kang. BIG difference between it and RootzBoat.
I also noticed that MIUI was updated yesterday to a pretty usable state. I haven't personally tried it, and there are some bugs still, but it should be useable now.
AOKP rocks! But I cant wait to see how CM9 develops. They have to add something special to make me leave AOKP.
Me too I've tried other 4.0.3 but to me they just don't compare to the constant smoothness of ARHD

I agree! This rom + franco's kernel waaayyy better than ARHD..... Love the quick toggles and being able to customize without having to flash or "bake" roms....
Another aokp here...it rocks!

What's is the difference between the AOKP ROM and the official Cyanogen mod 10?

Only thing that I could think that is diffrent is the developers and one has the aokp extra settings tab and cyanogenmod has its own settings and wallpapers.
Is one better than the other and which one do you prefer?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
That's about it. They're both built from source. AOKP has a couple more features. They're both really stable though and I prefer CM10.
Sent from my SGH-T999
They are fairly different...
AOKP has their own source though they do use quite a bit from Cyanogen. They offer the navbar to be enabled which Cyanogen doesn't.
CyanogenMod has a long standing history of being the first and the best... its just true. I would venture to say that their AOSP kernel is the best on the market the update almost daily with input directly from Qualcomm! The big feature that I am fond of is the profiles settings which you won't find most other places. These allow you to set custom "profiles" for different scenarios like work and home that will automatically do just about anything from turning on and off phone function s down to running individual apps. These are also able to be written to NFC tags... you can see the awesomeness?
Ok im a fanboi...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I have always thought of AOKP includes the best of AOSP an CM. I like them both but prefer AOKP. You can drill down into your device a little deeper to tweak it further in kang. Both are great ROMs though.

Gummy for Jellybean? If not, help finding cherry picks for cm10?

I came from Gummy rom 1.3 w/ Franco Milestone 4 and LOVED life.. all the tweaks i could want and one time i actually got 3 days, 2 hrs on my 2100 mah battery! (wifi, 3g, streamed music, misc)..
Now i decided to try out Jellybean. Im running a CM 10 nightly on my Nexus and am over all satisfied.. i miss some of the small tweaks that Gummy had (from what ive read they are called "cherry picks") for CM10.
Any one hear if they are working on a Gummy for Jellybean? Ive searched and searched and i find all sorts of rumors and peoples thoughts* about this and that.. Ive found posts that they hung up their hats on developing the gummy for JB and than find other posts saying no its back on.
=
Love me some Gummy.. any help would be appreciated.
If not, some lead for cherry picks for cm10 would be appreciated. i just want more customization from CM10 and have been looking @ AKOP, Euroskank, etc..
Last I heard, they stopped working on Gummy.

[ROM][I747MVLALH1][ICS][12.10.17] PURE MINIMAL - Stock Odexed, Stripped Down

I made this rom mostly for myself using dixda's Android Kitchen and I just needed something for my basic phone use (Phone, Messaging, Gmail, Calc, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Internet, Maps, Music, Files, Play Store, Video Player, Youtube). Everything else has been deleted.
I usually prefer AOSP based roms but I find stock odexed roms much smoother. Additionally, stock roms have better mic quality, audio quality, camera features.
I used the Canadian Bell base (I747MVLALH1) because I find it has much less bloatware by default than the AT&T one (no wi-fi notification, AT&T only contacts, etc).
12.10.X - Upcoming
add MOD to remove sms messages in call log
add MOD recovery option to reboot menu
add MOD volume up to skip song
12.10.17 - Initial Version
system/apps stripped down

Not bad, although surprised that even with a minimalist package it stutters just as much as stock ROM.

I have noticed that search is gone. I cannot find google quick search widget and when I press search from menu, nothing happens. Is there any way to get that back?
It's gone because Apple sued Samsung about it right after the device went on sale (SUPRISE!! Apple has a BS patent for that too!) ... so when Samsung brought the LH1 firmware update to market it was stripped out - you could hack that feature back in or try a different rom with it included.
I thought Samsung only took out the universal search feature. I believe the search bar widget was still there after I updated mine. I'll try to find some CWM or apk that I can install to get it back.

Opinions on 4.2

Does anyone truly like it? I find the extra page for toggles to be an annoyance to get to, and requires extra time. It just looks nice. The lock-screen also defeats all purpose of having a lock screen, and removes useful shortcuts (I know these can be added in through some cm or aokp builds but still). I didn't think it was possible for a new android version to really take a step back in terms of functionality but 4.2 really did. Scrolling isn't nearly as good as it was in 4.1 as well. But this is all my opinion, I'm interested to hear what you guys think. I'm looking to drop back to 4.1, and I'm hoping key lime pie gets rid of lock-screen widgets
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yes I like it. And a few milliseconds don't hurt. I don't think android took steps back, it took 3+ steps ahead.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I like it.. Looks pretty good.
Although, I do agree somewhat with the lockscreen. When I had messages as one of the pages on the lockscreen, I wish I could just text them from there. But instead, you press it and it goes to the messaging app instead.
Agreed. With lockscreen and toggles. If I remember correctly though, pure AOSP that ships on nexus devices prior to 4.2 didn't have toggles. That's a luxury that was only afforded to root users. So really it was a step forward.
In my opinion though, they should have implemented CM's toggles and called it good.

I love it, So much smoother at least when it comes to cm10 vs cm10.1 depends on the ROM you are using, Baked Black Bean its amazing and there are quite a few new 4.2 ROMs out in the last couple weeks

I'm getting 3.5 or so screen time consistently with black bean. I'm actually getting better battery life than ICS out the box and with the same installed apps. Smooth performance too. I'm liking 4.2 so far. I do miss the TW calendar and music player. They seemed to work the best for me. Tethering is also been hit or miss. Nothing a big deal breaker for me though.

In response to people who dislike the newly implemented toggles page: just swipe your notification bar with two fingers and voilĂ , straight to toggles.
Don't thank me, I figured it out from a review video myself (QBKing77 I believe, but I could be wrong). But should save you that extra second you were complaining about...
