a common mistake that may be happen through this method is that your inputing all 15 numbers of your IMEI in SE official site.
only first 14 numbers must be inputed and last one not,if you give all 15 numbers it gives you wrong code and may be your problem was due to that
Good Luck

Hey Folks
I tried now 2 times to get on the new Firmwareversion 4.x for the Arc with root.
Every Time i tried to Unlock per OTA the Phone bricked. So the Bootloader must be open.
I don´t touched the Bootloader, but i think the Bootloader is open, because the Phone had SimLock and i unlocked the phone with SETools with Testpoint Methode.
How do I know if the boot loader can be unlocked on my phone?
It is possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases of our 2011 Xperia™ phones, such as Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ pro and Xperia™ PLAY. Your phone has to fulfill a number of requirements, for example, you can’t unlock the boot loader if you have a SIM lock protected phone. There are other requirements as well, depending on your market and the original configuration of your phone.

So the Bootloader must be open in a way am i right? But i can still update with PCC or SEUS the Firmware
Where can i check the Bootloader Status
Thanks in advance for Help Dudes
Setool would have unlocked the bootloader, so have a read of the unbrick thread in the dev section.

Nope. Bootloader unlock allowed: no means no current way to unlock it.
BTW search for this next time please as it has been discussed ad nauseum.

Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom kernel and install a custom ROM. It can be done since you can unlock bootloader.

Yes, you are doing all good. However, you will need to install fastboot drivers first. Which OS are you using on your PC?
Thanks for reply, I have tried eRoot, It detects my phone (LT15a) runs complete process displays some form in the end asking for phone model, number and comments. I provided data but nothing happened.
I also removed eroot folder in appdata and retry this process again nothing happened.
My phone have rogers firmware
I have copied drivers from sonywebsite to android sdk folder (as suggested in official sony website)

For eroot , you dont need sdk.
Eroot is a bit laggy so you will have to connect it few times and try to root it with the software

I have installed PC companion as instructed in eroot's thread
I will try again and check if it worked or not
FYI eroot is detecting my phone correctly (My phone is in normal mode, do i need to be in fastboot mode?)

No, for Eroot your phone must be in normal mode, turned on, USB Debugging ticked, Unknown Sources ticked.
Yes Settings were correct
I tried again but nothing changed
(I am using Win 8) previously run eroot on win 7, nothing changed that time either
I have the same problem, but is still running Win8.
Hope you post the solution here - even if you found it somewhere else.

Phone with carrier lock cannot unlock bootloader using fastboot. You need to remove the carrier lock first before unlocking boot loader.

Is it possible to somehow change my android from ICS to custom Jelly Bean on my phone
Sony Xperia Arc S LT18i, Production date code 12W22
It came up with Android Gingerbread on board.
What i did so far is using program called Flashtool to flash my phone with stock Android ICS 4.0.4 4.1.B.0.587 (the file was called Android_4.0.4_LT18i_4.1.B.0.587.tft). This replaced branded Gingerbread with non branded stock ICS
After that i used Flashtool to flash my phone with Kernel 4.1.A.0.562 and then i used DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT tool to root my phone.
And after that i flashed it with 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
By doing this steps i supposedly achieved root on my phone (superuser and root checking apps show full access).
Now i read about flashing with Jelly Bean custom roms and all i seen mention "bootloader"
When i open secret service menu on my phone there are two things that worry me:
- Simlock - it says my phone is provider locked
- Bootloader unlockable - NO
So this is my question, is there any way in my current situation to somehow flash my phone with android Jelly Bean? In a similar way that i used to upgrade it from gingerbread to ICS?
Hi !
In order to flash a Jelly Bean ROM on your phone, your bootloader needs to be unlocked. There is no other way.
As you said, you can't unlock it the "easy" way. Nevertheless, I think that there are other ways for you to unlock it.
You can follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35910775 > Bootloader and SIM Unlocking.
You should give a try to the testpoint method /!\ DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK /!\
I never tested it myself.
If it works, you would be able to flash a custom kernel through FlashTool and flash a JB or even KitKat ROM.
Hope I helped.
Cheers.

Thanks for reply, unfortunatly it seems that this:
"If you're Phone was manufactured AFTER a certain date, 12W11 (look under your battery for a similar number) then the Testpoint method no longer works"
prevents me from using testpoint method because my production date code is date 12W22 which seems to be newer than 12W11.
Also the article mentions Two members - Alejandrissimo or Jinx13. I checked it with Jinx13 and he confirmed that there is no way for him to unlock bootloader from that production date phone, i didnt contact Alejandrissimo yet.
I dont mind paying for online/remote service, i know that experience and knowledge costs, im just looking to way for getting my bootloader unlocked.

You are one of those unfortunate people, who can't unlock their bootloader at all due to certain restrictions.
We do not have any confirmed solution for test point method, however there is one topic in General section of Xperia Arc, where the OP claims he managed to unlock the bootloader in such situation. You can check it out, however it is your own decision, if you try it or not.

Not sure if anyone can help out since there aren't to many people viewing the xperia play forum anymore, but if I can get the bootloader unlocked that would be awesome. So far I've tried.
S1tool: returns aid:dead doesn't hurt the phone but it doesnt unlock either. Flashtool tried also does not work returns cannot unlock officially. Or something similiar.
Sony unlock method put in flashmodeconnected
Fasboot devices: returns code without errors.
Fastboot getvar version returns v3 fastboot no errors.
Command to unlock with key always returns failed got the key twice from Sony so the key is not to blame.
Maybe it is because it is a custom bootloader since this is the hdmi version of the play. Or because it is the r800x any help and or suggestions or fastboot commands would be awesome.
Well it appears I cannot unlock this phone as of yet because it is a brwon phone aka engineering phone. red phones are retail and blue are stock from the factory. So Now all I have to do is locate someone who knows how to get brown phone keys like @Blagus or @DooMLoRD lol!!

I sent you a pm with some info that I hope will help. I had first tried the Test point method on the R800x and got an error message that (from what I could find on Google searches) meant the Test Point method wasn't compatible with the R800x. I just ended up using the Sony Official bootloader unlock method because I wasn't worried about losing DRM keys.

My R800x didn't have yes or no for Bootloader unlock Status. In fact, I believe that I read in multiple posts where Verizon had left this out ( here's one example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55238100&postcount=74 ). If yours has a "no" in there, then it sounds like the HDMI version of the R800x must be different.
