Exact same thing with me. I think I'm going to flash to a previous version... if I know how... because I used ROM Manager which did it for me.
I can Nandroid manually in recovery so the problem doesn't seem to associate with CWM recovery it seems to be associated with ROM manager.

Are you able to nandroid from recovery? don't know what it is in ROM manager that is causing this, hopefully somebody else will shed some light on this.
If I was you guys I'd do everything in recovery manually. I've seen many a problem pop up from using rom managers automated scripts.

This unofficial update fixed the issue I was having with initiating backups from ROM manager:

I can't backup my ROM every time I try it come up error like picture below. I also format my sdcard but still can't.
I have sandisk 64g class 10
Anyone know what is that issue? or know how to fix it?
It really bother me.thank you
Youre not the only one. I tried Xquzit JB roms which installs it. Went back and forth between CWM 4.8.4.5 and 6.0.1.2 and every time back up fails on 6.0.1.2. I suggest downgrading.

I downloaded CM 10.1 nightly build ( cm-10.1-20130130-NIGHTLY-d2tmo.zip ) and got the error Installation aborted. Did I do something wrong? I know it maybe a dumb question but... did I brick my phone??
This is what I got:
Finding update package...

Did you edit your build prop before hand? and no you're not bricked.

Oh, that's good! No, I didn't edit my build prop. What is a build prop?
Oh boy, what recovery are you using? I'm pretty sure you are using an old version and need to update... besides the 1-30 nightly is loaded with bugs I've been reading. restore your nandroid and update your recovery and wait for the next nightly.

A little to over my head I guess. I think its clockworkmod recovery version 5 (CWM-Recovery-LTE-SGS3-v5).
Restore my nandroid? I don't think I made a restore point, after the error I just went back and rebooted..
Was I supposed to do that?
It looks to be working, I rebooted twice and I don't think I messed it up. Though now I'm paranoid..

Yeah it's because you need to update cwm, make sure you flash the correct one.. And if its booting fine then you're ok, but you should always make a backup of a working ROM if your gonna do some tinkering with your phone as a safety precaution, it really bails you out at times

I'm in the process of backing up now. Is there anything special I need to do to upgrade my cwm recovery? I've heard updating cwm recovery could result in a soft brick, is that correct?
If you have rom manager just press update cwm.
(It actually says flash cwm)
If you don't have rom manager download it from the play store.
I wouldn't worry about bricking during this process

So the whole issue of installations being aborted is because of the outdated cwm.
I asked if it'll do a soft brick because I did a google search and came across multiple posts warning the use of Rom Manager. Any way to uninstall CWM and replace it with something else.
Yes to installation abortion.
To replace CWM, just flash another recovery over it.
You can just get TWRP from goomanager from the play store. Just flash it over and you'll be good to go.

Great... another error. Rooting isn't working out for me is it? Invalid MD5 sum from Goo Manager. What does that mean and what exactly can I do about it?
Nope, actually worked out after allowing download from unknown sources in security. Since I installed TWRP, can I delete the backup I made in clockworkmod recovery? I think its in my SD and its 3 GB. It titled "Clockworkmod" has folder titled "backup", then two folders "1970-04-23.05.07.43" and "1970-04-23.05.00.14".
I want to have space so that I can make a recovery using TWRP. I'm not sure if deleting this would cause more harm then not.

Thanks, you guys have been extremely helpful.
I'm about to install the rom now, I wanted your insight into if its a good rom and if I'm doing everything right.
- I've made a backup using TWRN
- Downloaded Titanium Backup, made another backup (Not sure what this will do)
- Changed Rom to AOKP Milestone 1 ( aokp_d2tmo_jb_milestone-1 )
- Downloaded Google Apps ( gapps-jb-20121212-signed )
Installation
- Run TWRN
- Going to wipe ( data/factory reset ) 3 times
- Going to wipe ( cache ) 3 times
- Select install zip from sdcard (First AOKP, then Google Apps)
- Reboot
Alright, does that look good to you? Do I have your blessings.

What's your opinion on AOKP nightly build JB-MR1 ( aokp_d2tmo_jb-mr1_build-2 ). I was looking into this because it has 4.2.1 jellybean and it was suggested I avoid CM 10.1 nightly.
I'm having a strange issue trying to install a ROM (any rom). No matter what ROM I try to install, I get a "can't open /sdcard/(ROM NAME),zip (bad).
This happens if the file is on the internal SD or the external SD. Doesn't matter. I was able to restore from a nandroid backup, but I'm really stumped here.
Anyone have any ideas?
Are you using the latest version of your recovery? I recommend twrp btw

I made a nandroid backup in CWM when I was on RC1. I'm trying to do a nandroid restore but it keeps failing when it gets to system, so I figured if I go back to RC1, everything should be identical so it should work.
If not, I don't know why the nandroid restore is failing. Any ideas?

Could be a hand full of things.
Corrupt nandroid, different recovery etc
You could always flash stock and try to restore it than.
I've honestly never had that issue not sure if flashing rc1 would change anything because it overwrites the system anyway

I put the same CWM version on and I copied the nandroid backup to my computer. Is there a way to verify that the nandroid is good?
I tried advanced restore too but only the boot seems to work. System, data, and cache seem to all give an error.
Are you saying that I should flash back to stock rom and try a restore from there?

Hmm no go. It's ok, I just gave up trying to restore the nandroid. Just started over with RC4. Thanks for the help.
Ok so I actually have some really serious problems that I need some help with fast.
My details so you can help me with the following
*Running DN3 3.2 ROM rooted
*MJ5 new bootloader
*TWRP(at the moment)
*AGNi kernel
Soooo, here are the problems I encounter
I cant find a proper way to swap internal with external sd card. Now hear this super strange problem. Both with the script on this forum and the setting on AGNi control app DO INDEED swap the int with the ext sd card but theres a catch. Neither of them can swap the sdcard0/Android/obb(which is the folder I wanna swap -.-')but they swap the rest of the mount point! Soooo strange. As a result theres no space recover by applying this method and the obb folder still stays at int storage.
I really hate MTP on 4.3 Is there any way to enable the freaking USB Mass Storage?
Whenever I move an app to the sd card(settings/manage applications)and I reboot, after the reboot the app is lost and it says "App not installed" whenever I click its icon. This is the situation even after rebooting, I cannot move the app back to internal storage and as a result I have to uninstall and reinstall the app which leads to loss of data.(Note that I'm using a 32GB class 10 sd card)
I cannot make a proper backup and/or make a proper restore. I have tried both latest Philz and latest TWRP, the backup takes around an hour to do(REAALLLYYY long...)and then if I try to restore it says "Restore failed" on both recoveries.(On Philz it said md5 mismatch or something similar and on TWRP it said just restore failed)My only theory is that because I was trying to install a 4.4.2 ROM after making a backup and the recoveries were simply incompatible with KitKat, but other than that I don't understand why this happens.
Sorry for so long post but I really need help here. Thanks in advance!
Don't use the latest version of philz, it takes very long to boot the Rom for the first time which makes one get scared. Use version 5 Philz. After you wipe dalwik cache , go to mounts and format sd card and external card(take backup) then flash the Rom and reboot.
I flashed dn3 v 3.2 with cwm which ended up stucking at boot screen. Then I was told to use philz 5,now it works the works like charm. If I was you now I would flash the stock rom (unroot ) then root and flash dn3. Keep the stock kernel which comes with the rom. I didn't flashed mj5 boot loader instead I flashed Dr ketan's Wi-Fi patch. I had problem switching on Wi-Fi. Hope you get your problem resolved this is an amazing rom!

Thanks for your reply, but you didn't help me with any of my problems...
Hi NickVXD, I faced the same and was very disturbed, but finally it worked, the obb is swaped. I'm also using Agni latest.
What I did
1st I disabled the option from agni control app
Then rebooted
Then went to CWM
Flash the latest script of mattiadj, this one
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivl678c67r7z57g/extsd2internalsd_fat32_gs3_8.zip
..and the obb folder is swaped.
Regarding Proper Backup & Restore
During a restore, from CWM misc nandroid settings, uncheck md5 checksum
Then restore.
It'll restore.
Hope it helps.
Regards.

@nitol Thanks a lot for the obb solution, will check it later and report back. The problem with CWM isn't getting rid of the md5sum but to find a way to make the backup not corrupted. I had made a backup and then when I restored it said md5mismatch. So I removed md5sum check from settings and when the restore was done, I rebooted and phone stuck at note 2 screen. So the problem is the corrupted backup and not the md5. Also backup took 50-55 minutes to finish. Is that normal?? Thanks again.
