Just curious since my S3 is on its way can I root and put a new rom on it before I call in to have it activated?
I wouldn't.

You really don't need to. Its the same thing. Just keep a tmo ROM on. It will still work. If anything flash a radio. I know on galaxy s 2 radios are compatible. Not sure about the s3 since the att version has lte.

Just flash it like any other ROM through recovery

So I bought a note 2 last night unlocked it by dialing and some clicking thru menus and using it on tmobile with full data speed.
My question is im familiar with rooting and custom roms. Can I install any roms and still use it on tmobile network?
Or do I need to dial again and go thru those menus?

Hey I plan on doing the same thing at the end of the month. Have you found anymore info on it?

You can flash whatever you want in this section. Most rom dont touch apns or basebands

You should be fine. Kernels and Roms don't touch that portion of your phone. Either way if it does, super easy to do again!
I have he ATT Samsung note 2 i-317. I want to know if it would be bad if I wanted to flash the T-Mobile Miui Rom. I wouldn't care if I couldn't use LTE since I rarely use it. Would anything go bad if I flashed the rom?

As long as its for the T-Mobile note2 you should be fine. Fine as in it shouldn't brick you. You may have to adjust APN or maybe even flash a att note2 aosp kernel to get things working right. Let us know how it goes

Here you go
That one has a little bit of problems. The T-Mobile miui is said to not have those problems. I tried the AT&T one already :/

Now that my phone is unlocked on T-Mobile do I install ROM for T-Mobile or stay with ROM for ATT

You Must install roms from the company you got the phone from. Doesn't matter if you go to another carrier. If you don't install AT&T roms on an AT&T phone, you will brick your phone!

I have a Verizon note 2 i605 running VRUEMJ9 I would like to unlock the bootloader to flash roms or install a 2nd bootloader. I am rooted. I'm curious how I would do this I've searched around and have found nothing. Also I was wondering since 4.4 kitkat is coming out how would I upgrade if my phone is not activated. Thanks in advance

This subject is posted all over the place, you can not unlock the bootloader right now, it is just not possible. We are all hoping for it, but we don't have any choice but to wait. Safestrap is not compatible with the phone either right now. I'm not sure about the non-activated update, but I don't see why it wouldn't work like normal.

So I would just update via WiFi then
