Hi,
I rooted my HTC One V and deleted some bloatware (flickr, ebay etc.) and now, even after relocking my phone and resetting it to factory settings, I can no longer install software updates because I'm missing these stock apps. From what I understand I have to reflash my phone with a rom that matches the cid for my phone (O2__001), is that correct? Am I right in thinking that I'm looking for a UK O2 shipped rom (x.xx.207.x)? If so, does anyone know where I might find one? I've searched everywhere (including this forum) and cannot find anything suitable.
I realise that it's my own fault for not making a proper back-up (lesson learnt!) but I'd be really appreciative of any help.
Thanks
R
I have found the sourcecode for the build on the htcdev website. Is it a bad idea to try and compile the rom myself (baring in mind that I'm obviously total noob when it comes to Android, but have quite a bit of experience running linux)? Does anyone have any advice about this?
Hey, I'll give you a link where you can download it, I've got backup of mine ...

Hi,
As i posted earlier that whatever SMS that i receive it lags 4 hours. Currently I am using SMSFix to tackle this issue but this thing is bothering me that why to install a special app for that. it gives me problem if i get text messages when this service is not running.
SO, I thought may be the issue is because my HTC Desire is EU Unlocked. Just want to give a try i am trying to search for HTC Desire US specific ROM. I have searched online, but could not fiind one .. Please refer me to one.
- I am not looking for any CUSTOM ROM.
- I have not ROOTED by device yet. Still waiting someone to anwer my question on other thread to root.
have you downloaded the latest unrevoked 3.21 that seems to have worked for me. its no longer a zipped folder, its now a complete MSI app
Yes, I have already tried that and it is not working for me. I have already posted that problem in Q and A section

Warning: This should only be used on HTC Desire Z. Using this on G2 could brick your phone.

Had to scour the net for this. Hope this helps Asian Desire Z owners like me. Cheers!
That's an earlier version than the shipping ROM for those phones, isn't it ? The PC10IMG.zip file was posted here some weeks ago.

guess so, that's the newest version I have seen so far on the Internet.
But I did root, S-Off and flashed Overclock modules before doing a system backup.
don't know that if I dump my ROM , will it still be same as the original

No, because of the changes you've made to it.
Speaking of, I need the 1.34.707.5 RUU that came with my phone. This version is kinda sluggish. Slower than my desire. wish i didn't try to hack it without a ruu to fall back on.

Might be worth asking HTC for one ? I don't see why they shouldn't give it to you. No harm in trying, anyway.

Seriously? They give out RUUs? What do I tell them (not to arise suspicion) since the phone is on warranty.

I'm pretty sure that's where all the RUUs originate from. Maybe tell them your phone was acting kinda weird and you tried a "return to stock" but that wouldn't work, so you want to try flashing the ROM again to see if that helps rather than sending it back ?
You can open a support call via email on their website. You have to supply a serial number, so they probably won't ask too many questions and might even just give you an RUU.
Work asking, anyway ? Maybe someone else can think of a better story, that was just off the top of my head.
I'm ****ed. Of course I didnt tell them I flashed an older ruu rom.Their reply is:
Thank you for contacting HTC. With reference to your query, we are sorry to inform you that the ROM on your unit is up to date and currently there is no RUU. ok, well it was worth a try. Is there something specific in that ROM that means you couldn't use give the standard European ROM a try ? e.g. particular Asian languages that you need ?
Not really though I've been trying to make a goldcard through the goldcard app and failing miserably at it.

I have got an idea. Tell them you are running a old version(you get this phone from your friend, and you didn't know where it's from), like 1.34.4xx.x
and ask for 1.34.708.5 or newer
see how they reply
edit: I have post HK 1.34.708.3, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860430
hope we can get 1.34.708.5 or newer
sorry i'm just curious if you're able to flash this over to the g2? trying to find a chinese UI for the g2

What problem are you having exactly ? I would use the method described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503
anyone got backup tmobile uk branded rom ? cant seem to find it anywhere.. damn it
Couldn't find a UK specific one but a quick search found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841207
and from there a link to the DE version:
http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
You could try it and change the language.

Sorry then. I tried but couldn't find a single reference to it.
Thought you bricked your phone. Or is this a second one you're sending back?
Personally, I'd get on twitter and ask the T-Mobile guys if they could send it to you.

Let me know if you do ever get your hands on it, if you'd be so kind.
Hopefully once you get it back you can, as you say, pull the ROM off of it once you root it again (but I bet it comes back with 1.8X just to be annoying).
[EDIT] Is there any way to pull it from a NAND backup image?

i donno buddy.. aint that expert in these things.. but where is the nand image? give me the link.. i wud like to experiement and learn
I have a NAND backup ina folder called "Original ROMS" dated the day I first rooted the phone (that'll be the day I got it then) but it's only labelled by date.
The two problems that presents are:
1. I don't even know if it is a T-Mobile ROM that's backed up.
2. It will contain sensitive personal data that I wouldn't want to share.
[EDIT] Having spent the last two hours searching I can't find any reference to it at all. I'm beginning to doubt a UK specific RUU ever existed!

I'm sure I can speak for Leather here when I say "that would be awesome" but at the risk of sounding ungrateful (I'm not, quite the opposite), a 1.32.x.y would be better still.

could u upload it somewhere else like www.megaupload.com ? because the file factory does not allow u to download more then 150mb/hour... downloading pauses at 150 every single time..
I will upload that and the PD98IMG.zip to my site shortly. Just have a bit of work to sort out in the meantime.
Currently uploading, ETA 1 hour 30 mins. Dreadful upload speed.
Its in ROMs > PD98IMG's
EDIT: Uploaded

Hello, firstly just wanted to say thanks to you all for posting your helpful info on the website, it really does help!!!
But unfortunately im stuck and could use some help/advice/tutorial please.
I have a HTC One V that is bought from Carphone Warehouse UK, and isnt sim locked.
I rooted, unlocked the bootloader, and then put on stock Vanilla ICS, although in the process i was at a point where the phone was sticking on the HTC screen.
Eventually i got it to go past that and now i have Vanilla ICS on there (I THINK!!)
But my problem now is i cannot use three finger swipe to pair to my Media Link HD, or even pair to it at all
And i use my media link a lot.
Basically i want one of 3 things really, and im hoping someone can help me out
1) Stay on Vanilla ICS and get my phone paired to my Media Link HD
2) Get another ROM that doesnt have HTC Sense (which was why i put Vanilla ICS on the handset) but will still pair up to my Media Link HD
3) Revert back to stock rom
Oh, i also used CID Getter to get this info from the handset, although i dont know what it means ive just read somewhere its useful:
20.72.30.0833U_3831.17.00.18_M
And my last thing, if this is in the wrong place i apologize in advance, if you could point me in the right direction
Thanks
James

This goes in Q&A, but to answer your question media link is a Sense feature. You would need to be on a stock rom to use it.

Look for my signature to return to stock.
Also if you vant Vanilla, you can install Apex or Nova launcher into the stock ROM. Not the same, but almost.
From the line you inserted (baseband version)I think your device is a WWE europe at the version of 2.08.401.2, but CID will be better.
For the ruu go to development and search for the stock roms thread (link here).
Hey there, guys.
I got today an HTC one M8 and i figure that in the box it is labeled as M8X, so i am kinda confused.
I want to root, not S-OFF, but i have not any files downloaded like Fastboot, adb, etc, i use to have them long ago when i had my HTC One X but i lost the files and also the knowledge.
I'll appreciate if you can link me to some post in order to choose a root method, cause all those i see there are for Verizon or international and i'm not sure if they are gonna work for me.
Thanks in advanced.
Anyone?

Quick google search shows the M8X as a taiwanese imported variant.. should work the same as all the others

That's good to know. I've been searching but all what i can find are some threads with "old" fastboot or adb drivers and i'm not sure if they will work as well at the time. I'll appreciate if you can link me to a thread to root.
Thanks in advance
Mods can delete - close this thread, i found a memory refresher here. Threads like that should be sticky on every sub forum for each variant.
Thanks for help, guys.
