Aosp video chat fix?

Is it possible that there isn't a fix for video chats on aosp roms for the EVO. I've tried different versions of decks roms and one from jared. Each have the same results. The furthest I've gotten is voice going through but without video. Is there a flashable zip or something to fix this. I want to use an aosp Rom but can't without this working. I tried Skype and g+ video chat. Both failed.by now there should be some kind of fix. On sense Roms they work but not aosp ones. I've searched Google and xda search but no luck. Someone please help.

Well, if you're using ICS roms, they do have bugs in them.

Just checking. And the time I used it, it was fine for me. Did you do fresh installs?

Yeah. I loaded them in boot manager. Wiped all. Installed apps by titanium. Could it be kernel wise? I kept the kernel the Rom came with.

You can try; I recommend the tiamat kernel, either 3.3.7, or 4.1

Yeah I think ill try right now. If it works or not I'll post here. Could it be anything else though? I find it kind of weird.

Not much that I can think of. Most all apps are compatible with GB.

Well the kernel idea didn't work. I used taimat 4.1 with the same results. I guess I won't be using aosp roms as a daily until its figured out. Yeah the apps are but for some reason they don't function on the aosp builds. Thanks for your help but if you happen to come across anything please let me know.

Will do, and sorry they're not working for you.

I had a problem for video chatting not working. G+ and Skype didn't work which I needed. So after days of searching for an answer, I finally stumbled across this. It helped for G+ but not for Skype. I didn't confirm an actual chat but my image comes out and doesn't say camera error anymore.
The link has a adb command list but I did it via root explorer. My first try didn't work but on my second try I didn't fix permissions or reboot. Weird but worked for me.
One last advice is that trying to video call in Skype borked the ability to g+ video chat afterwards. A simple reboot fixed it. So here is the link I used:

[Q] Does Instagram work on any ICS-based ROM yet?

I've tried many ROMs and noticed Instagram didn't work in any of them, so I went back to stock. I kinda just got tired of flashing ****.
Basically, my question is... Does Instagram work on any of the new 4-19-2012 ICS builds? I tried every other ROM before that date, I think.

I'm using NexusMod ICS Zero and it's working. The only thing is I notice the Camera isn't taking as good of pictures as on GB ROMS. I may try another ICS ROM. The picture quality is not just with Instagram but with any camera app. Including the stock.

Im using the Nexusmod ROM and it isnt working for me.. it opens and lets me view pictures but when i try to post something the phone crashes. Anyone know of a ROM that works completely with it?

Browsing pictures and commenting is fine. But... You can apply filter and post pictures without your phone having a seizure, freezing, or rebooting?
Last i checked it wasn't...so perhaps you're lucky.
I haven't found an ICS rom based off any of the leaks that Instagram works with yet. I would wait for the OFFICIAL official release of ICS and then go from there...

Don't really feel like scrolling thru every ics thread. But does any ics rom run instagram flawlessly now?

[APP] Flashplayer for JB

Attached is the flashplayer.apk that works on JB...should be able to install with apk manager...if that doesn't work move to /system/app and reboot...i take no credit for this as I just found it and figured I would post for all to benefit.

How do i test to see it works?

is anyone experiencing flash not supporting/allowing full screen? had this question asked but since I don't use JB I can't answer it...

Does this work for any JB based rom? or only for aosp roms? Id like to switch to touch wiz JB based roms from ICS. Flash is the only reason why ive stayed with ICS

Just our luck that when we need to find a video that requires flash for testing purposes, we can't find a one. LoL

There is a point to that, Flash is going away for HTML5. Though is Vimeo flash or HTML though?

Works for me on stock browser. If you need a testing site, try the YouTube.com desktop site from your device. It still uses flash for their videos. In browser hit menu/desktop. Thanks for posting this. It's also in the Android themes/apps section on XDA.

This flashplayer works but is there any way to stop the phone from going in to sleep mode while watching flash video? I never had this problem in ICS but when I switched to a JB rom now when the screen times out it goes off and kills the video rather than stay on the length of the video that is playing in flash. Thanks in advance for any help.

I would like to know this as well. Tried all 4.0 version of flash but still times out when watching a movie in the browser.

I downloaded all the goodies from 4.2 and played with them a few days. The only one that I didn't like was Gmail 4.2. It would not let me attach a file yet, only a pic.

I thought the same thing, but I browsed through my files and picked a pdf anyhow and it sent just fine. Maybe Google just missed something?

I tried the same thing and it didn't send for me. I tried it both creating the email first and then going to the file and trying to send to there. I'm sure its a minor bug that will be fixed when the official gets released. I may have loaded a different version too. Anyway, I liked everything else on 4.2 release.

I'm running the leaked Gmail 4.2 and couldn't send a file from my external SD card. I copied it to the internal SD and it sent.

Yes, you want to flash after gapps. I would flash gapps first, reboot, put in Google accounts and make sure everything is running right, reboot to recovery, make a backup, then flash 4.2 goodies.
You can probably do it another way, but this worked for me.

I just flashed my ROM and then these gapps. These gapps are complete. No need to flash any other gapps.

Yeah video recording isn't working right. If you really need it 8would use jb camera + from the Play store. It's $1.99 but HD recording and everything else works.

That wouldn't be an issue with Gapps but, just to check it out i tested it and it worked fine for me on Cm10 11/18 nightly.

Did you flash with clockwork mod recovery 6.0.4.3? Use Rom manager to flash Clockworkmod recovery. Twrp won't work until it's been updated for our devices.

Use newest version of normal non touch cwm. Also use full paranoid android gapps for KitKat to get everything working. You will not have cell service if you do not use cwm.

I had switched to TWRP because my current ROM didn't flash right in CWM.
Guess if I want to try this, I'll have to go back. I haven't used a CM based ROM in a while. Anyone here using it?

is this a similar build to the one dw9906 posted? cause im running that and it almost perfect, however the camera FC sometimes, rotation is kinda sticky and flash isnt loading on my xscope browser.
everything else seems pretty solid so far.
EDIT: i guess it is the same build.

Camera hasn't fc on me yet. Rotation seems fine here. Haven't tried flash yet. Don't know if it's the same build. I tried looking for a Cm11 build before I posted this and didn't see one. I must of missed it.

I'm getting an invalid device type "t03g" on my SGH-T889 "a3lsght889. This is the correct device type from what I am reading, why am I getting an error?
Also saw a post that said something about the t03g being a clone? Now im worried about fraud on this device. Anyone have any info on this being a fraud or was that one post just misleading? Its labeled as a Samsung note 2 nd all software shows its a Samsung Note2 and all CWM and rotting images worked fine so far.
Do I need to do something special to get it to install? Any info is appreciated.
Edit: It seems the t03g was due to using that devices as a recovery my mistake from another thread. I used Rom manager to install the correct CWM and it was fine after that. Just FYI if people need it.

Installed runs smoothly autorotate didn't function at first a reboot after enabling it fixed it. Haven't seen any other problems as of yet. Not many extra cm features that I can see but still awesome. Not liking the zoom feature for the browser but still OK.

Yes pretty much really stable. LTE also s pen like on TW ROMs no. But it still works to point here or there and also I guess like to write or do other things.

I did everything by the book incl non touch CWM recovery - I get "installation aborted".
Can anyone post MD5 for main zip? Maybe for gapps, too. Thx

Art (android run time) is supposed to help speed up android apps and processes. Faster boot, app launching, tasks, scrolling, loading, etc. In the future it may replace dalvik. Right now its in developmental stage.
