Hey, I won a Galaxy S III From T-Mobile's Spin to win contest and I have some questions residing with the Tmobile Varient.
I do not use T-Mobiles Network, will the Galaxy S3 work on At&t's GSM network without any problems?
Should be good but I don't think you will get 4g

Congrats! So jealous. I'm surprised that Tmo didn't at least give you a month or so of free service. If you can get the phone unlocked, it can be used on AT&T's HSPA+ network. The one thing I liked about the Tmo variant was the additional HSPA+ 1900 MHz band, which is what AT&T uses, so it is the most universal GSM/HSPA+ S3 model! You will get HSPA+ on Tmo, Wind, Rogers, and AT&T (as well as overseas).
Only got the AT&T version because my company pays for the phone and service, so I can't complain either.

Well, the Nexus doesn't use AT&T's LTE that they are currently setting up across the country, but it does utilize AT&T's HSPA+ network (which they market as 4G, but is much slower than real LTE).
Here are screenshots from the Verge's review of the Galaxy Nexus:

These are speeds in New York city. Remarkably good compared to many other HSPA+ phones.
Damn that's pretty slow....29 for skyrocket on LTE..tmo hspA+ on gs2 is high teens but I wanted to ditch tmo. I'm just torn between devices.
Can get skyrocket for $149...but really wanted nexus.

The Galaxy Nexus is HSPA+, not LTE. You'll get solid speeds but nothing near LTE of course. All depending on your location and a myriad of other factors.

If you want LTE, then your option looks like Verizon when they come out with it. The international GN won't support ATT or Tmo 4G

Well... AT&T's "4G" is HSPA+. They actually make the distinction between "4G" and "4G LTE". T-mo also calls HSPA+ "4G".
So specifically yes, the international Galaxy Nexus Supports AT&T's 4G, and T-mobile's 4G, but not AT&T's 4G LTE.
I am completely new to Android and I just got the galaxy nexus. I read up on rooting and I would like to try it out. How do I tell if im GSM or LTE?
is verizon your carrier? if so, you're LTE/cdma.
I515 or i9250. Verizon4g lte on back or just google or samsung? I9250 and google on back are gsm version.

Well, where did you get it from?
(quick responding here..)
Well it depends, if you have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus you are on either CDMA or LTE, LTE is denoted by a 4G symbol while CDMA is denoted by EVDO/1X/ or 3G symbol.
If you imported your GN and you are using it on any other carrier then it is GSM, and you are either on Edge, GPRS UMTS or HSDPA

another quick method is to look at your purchase receipt, if you paid $300 or less its LTE. If you have paid more than $600 then its GSM/HSPA+ ...
And to add more heh...
Micro SIM=Verizon LTE
Normal SIM=GSM
Short fat battery=Verizon LTE
Skinny tall battery=GSM
GSM on the left, Verizon on the right:

Lol, sad but true!
How about;
Black battery - GSM
Blue battery - Lte / Cdma

If the status bar says Verizon, you've got the LTE Verizon version.
If it shows anything else, it's GSM.

Ya but I never added that to my Galaxy Nexus lol. I've never touched my APN settings on this. Only on my G2.
what area are you in? Tmo will offer in house booster kits, I got mine for free and I'm in area that has pretty decent coverage!

I live in indiana, close to cincinnati. I get coverage at home but only 2g. I work in cincinnati and coverage is good there, 4g in most areas 3g in others. Its the best monthly rate i can find ($30/mo for unlimited text, 5gb data and 100 min) but not sure if it's worth having a top of the line phone stick on a 2g network most of the time. Now im on cincinnati bell, it's pretty good. I'll try tmobile out a month before i cancel, see if the saved money is worth the decreased coverage

I wouldn't mind only having 2G at home as whenever I'm there I have WiFi. As long as I have 3G out of the house that's what matters.
Of course its always a cost/benefit analysis. I'm also on the $30 T-Mobile plan and it saves a ton of $$.
About freaking time at&t!
http://betanews.com/newswire/2012/09/06/att-4g-lte-coming-to-seattle-in-2012/
Amazon (HQ in Seattle) just announced Kindle Fire 4G LTE so I'm sure that provided some impetus for at&t.
att is sooooooo far behind with their LTE deployment. I am in Milwaukee, VZW T-Mobile, and heck, even US Cell have LTE coverage here, not at&t.
yikes.
at&t advertises HSPA+ as 4G. What a crock.

You want to know what is sad? Anchorage, AK where I live got LTE before Seattle. I thought there's no way in hell we'd get it this fast. Of course it is some gimped LTE. Only get 18 down and 9 up on off peak hours. I usually get around 8 and 8 during the day.

In the Dimond area I am getting consistent 20-35 down and 11 up.
Edit: I was surprised when I saw 4G pop up. Tested my speed, BAM.
Alaska with LTE, hah.
Thankfully, Portland is supposed to get it too around the same time as Seattle.
About time! Seriously, I believe Verizon has it almost all the way up and down the I-5 corridor.
AT&T + Portland is just awful, though. My friend with T-Mobile gets lightning fast 4G (AWS) all over town (although with some of the usual T-Mobile signal issues) and as soon as I get to downtown Portland it gets so congested that I can't even use my data without it feeling like Dial-Up. Can't wait for them to get off their lazy butt and deploy this stuff. Their HSPA+ network is too damn congested all the time. Stinkin' iPhones hoggin' all the towers
just showed up as LTE on a galaxy note in bellevue... got 20 down and 9 up

I am not new to rooting. But this I am curious about. I have the Galaxy Note 2 btw.
Anyways, someone wants to trade my wife's iphone 5 for the galaxy s3 and a psp go. Is it possible to put the Unlocked Verizon S3 on to the sprint network?
If so what is the process. As I believe that it will have different radios, rom, and such. Do I need to root the phone and and install sprint firmware, radios, and stock rom.
Looking for some insight asap. Thanks

Dont think it's possible, and if it is.. I doubt 4G will work (Just going off of us forcing 3G roaming on Verizon's towers but unable to get 4G. If i'm wrong, please someone correct me! Thanks.
I believe it's the phones hardware that's different.

I believe it IS possible, but I wouldnt know how
As far as firmware, Verizon is also CDMA so thats not the problem. Maybe check over in the Verizon S3 forums?

Yes. I've done it. No 4G however. Similar steps as to putting a CDMA GS3 to Boost, etc.

I would have to agree with you I'm pretty sure it's possible I'm just not sure the phone would be fully functional I know that the CDMA should work the same. The only thing I would question is 4g not really sure how Verizon's network works in comparison to Sprint's. For the most part the hardware should be the same except for the 4g portion which supports WiMAX and LTE 4g not sure Verizon's version supports WiMAX it may just be crippled from a software standpoint.

I've asked a friendly sprint tech about this before and he said it involves getting a "donor" sprint phone and "masking" the ESN of the Verizon phone with that of the donor.
Sent from my SPH-L710
Ah yes, you would need the donor phone to flash it over to Sprint.
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
yes you have to use original esn from the original sprint phone you are no longer going to use
that has to go in the verizon phone
make sure you disable the sprint phone or it becomes cloning and that is illegal
