So I discovered this awesome thing called the GameKlip which is basically lets you mount your phone above a bluetooth PS3 controller and use it for gaming.
Check out the site here: http://thegameklip.com/
And here's the official XDA thread in the S3 forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760595
One problem though: Each GameKlip is device specific, and right now they have one for the Galaxy S3 and pretty much every Galaxy S2 version EXCEPT the T-989. I contacted the creator, Ryan French, and he said that he can make a model of the GameKlip for the T-989 IF he gets enough demand from us.
If you are interested take a moment and contact Ryan through Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GameKlip or Twitter http://twitter.com/GameKlip and ask about making the GameKlip for our device, and hopefully we can get enough support because this is awesome and any gamer out there can agree, we want this for our phone.

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4303&idPhone2=4129 It looks like you're correct, but have you actually tried the t989 in the Skyrocket gameclip? The corners are shaped somewhat differently and that's where it grips the phone.
Just posted on the facebook saying I would buy one if he made one for the T989. Hopefully more will do the same because I would love to have it.
I ordered one last night so I will try to remember to come back to comment on the fit. I think I read our phone might be 1mm taller and wider which hopefully shouldn't matter.

Sorry, been busy but I have good(ish) news!
Not sure how it is supposed to fit on the skyrocket, but it does fit acceptably on the hercules. I say that because you do sort of have to "pop" it into place, but it's just a tiny bit of force that is probably supposed to be there to keep it in place. The back does bow a little, but that might be rather intentional. Any way, long story short, it fits! It might not be perfect, but it's not bad enough to even hint at it not working (at least not that I have noticed yet).

Interested to know how it fits though in case a replacement becomes necessary at some point.
Thanks.

pretty sure that .3mm measurement difference is just an error. there is zero reason why samsung would make one phone wider or slimmer... the vibrant even shares the chassis with the i9000... the forward facing camera hole is even present.

The captivate is the most unique Galaxy S phone in terms of appearances, the Vibrant is one of the phones that is pretty much alike to the I9000 aside from the 4 keys and a front camera.
The captivate's method of taking it off is different as well.

says its not compatible with vibrant, i would assume if i9000 and vibrant shared exact same battery cover, then this would fit, meaning the one you purchased would fit too. since this doesn't, maybe the listing you showed won't either?
ps... why does it say unlocked i9000 only, what does being locked or unlocked have anything to do with a physical battery cover?

Of course my first thought was whether or not it would fit on our captivates. Seems less deadly than the hack I saw awhile back where someone put a Galaxy S replacement front facing camera in their captivate.
link for the captivate/i9000 ffc?? I have only seen it in the Vibrant (which worked really well)
and thats actually not a half bad idea for the mirror thing. I mean really, people don't use the ffc that much anyway, so for the few times u do use it, this would probably work just fine.

There is no Captivate FFC - The i9000 was born with it - just find the product spec page.
I just can't imagine carrying around a mirror accessory just to video chat - if you want a FCC, but a phone that does it.

Some people are modding Vibrants (which do not come with a FFC) with the i9000 FFC or the Epic4G FFC.
Also "buy a phone that does it" is hardly a solution seeing as how there are so few out. AT&T only offers one, and it's the iPhone. Sprint has the other two, and obviously are not compatible for the AT&T network. That only leaves the i9000 but buying it straight up is rather costly, whereas T-mo people who do the FFC mod spend $16 (yes, the camera assembly for the i9000 is that cheap).
I'd also be interested in seeing it done for the Captivate.

do you know how to read??
I know the i9000 has a ffc, but if you read the original post, he claims someone hacked up a captivate with the i9000 ffc. I simply asked for a link.
alright lets straighten this out
Without any proof of concept for a FFC for the captivate i am calling it BS or not possible. We have exhausted this to no end in the Dev. forum in about 6 different threads and there just isnt a spot for the FFC to sit. If you look at the tear town pictures of the captivate v.s. the i9000 you will see that there FFC and back camera have two different mounting spots. Unfortunately for us there is only 1 mounting spot and its taken up by the main camera. to get the FFC in the captivate you would have to buy the part and then tear apart the guts of the wiring and re wire it so it would be able to literally be soldered on the back of the main camera, then hope you were good enough with that soldering gun to get it facing exactly right through the hole you would have had to scratch or dissolve out of the black in the front of you phone.
Like I said I am more than willing to see some proof and be proved wrong but i imagine he is thinking of the Vibrant guys who also have two slots and have successfully gotten a i9000 FFC in their phones!
Done and Done.

Yeah buddy I can read.... and I said there is no FCC for the captivate (unless you count the one I posted)... there is no room inside or connection on the board. Just because someone claims to have seen something, doesn't make it so. There are links to BigFoot and Nessie on the internet too.
This idea has been around since the captivate launched.

You people have no creativity. Thats why i like the vibrant forum. People around are all "you cant" and "buy a phone that does" "and it would de-value" blah blah. There is no reason it cant be done. If it works on a vibrant a similar mod should work on a captivate. I know the vibrant has the mount built in. But thats hardly a dificult obstacle. I had know idea the camera is that cheap and i may just buy one to prove a point to the naysayers.
Also the mirror thing has been disgussed and i wouldnt use it. It looks silly. Id rather harware brick my phone in an atempt to preform the mod than be seen with that thing. But i dont discorage others from using it

Connection may be different, but could it be customized or modded to work? Little more solder, epoxy, jb weld, maybe even built-in usb and a switch, who knows? Haven't taken mine apart to check it out in the week I've had it.
I had a Seidio Surface case/holster combo for my previous phone and it was my favorite case. I wanted to get one for the Galaxy S2, but Seidio doesn't make one for the T-Mobile version. It's available for all other flavors of the Galaxy S2... just the T-Mobile version has been left out.
I wrote to them asking if they had plans to produce one in the future, but I can't get a straightforward answer from them. They just point me to their existing products for this phone. I was hoping that if there were enough people showing interest in this phone case, they'd consider adding it to their lineup. If you've got a couple of minutes and you'd like to see it happen, please consider contacting them about it.

The Active is a more rugged and bulkier case than the Surface. I've never had an Active case, but I wanted something like the Surface case that I could slip into my pocket or use the holster as needed.
I can't post outside links yet, but if you look at the Samsung Epic 4G Touch category on their site, that phone has both cases available for it. It should give you a good idea of what the Surface case should look like for the T-Mobile version of the phone.

Specifically with regards to fitting into cases - will one fit perfectly into a case made for the other and vice versa. I think I may have found the answer when I searched the forum but I want to hear it from someone who knows definitively. The threads I found were regarding battery and back covers.

Yes they share the same form factor, I ordered a cover which was designed for i717 and fits perfectly fine N7000.:good:
they are not exactly the same form factor... bear in mind the AT&T version has some bloatwares you need to contend with.. RAM size and chipset wise.. it's not the same as well... yeah.. i guess externally they're all the same.. internally... hmm... I got the international one over the at&t one, don't ask me.. but I could've never been happier getting the international one. Performance wise... It's wayyy too better.

My bad dude.. and don't get too ballistic on me (for my post). I was merely also pointing out the disadvantages on one versus the other. Form factors are the same.. but realistically, the phone and it's accessories are not. Minute things that is.
Yeah I made a mistake and I do apologize for that. But again let me stress out.. Not all accessories do fit in with the i717 and with the N7000 international one. There are still accessories that are specifically designed for the N7000 which you can't find one in the i717 version, e.g. accessories that maximizes the NFC on the i717 which you can't find on the international version.
Battery door clips are located a little differently which makes the battery doors non interchangable. Cases in general are fine to interchange.
I am quite interested in the gen 10 80xs as a possible netbook replacement, and thus I have been having a poke around on Google for a review of one. However, I can not find one single decent, well written review anywhere. There are a fair few for the 80xs' big brother, but none that I can find for the 80xs itself.
So if anyone could point me in the direction of such a review, or if anyone feels generous enough to write a fairly comprehensive review in this thread for me that would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your opinion, if you do have large hands how difficult is it to type productively on it? Also, how much travel do the keys have, I wouldn't imagine they have all that much.
Also, how does the performance of the Rockchip processor compare to the TI processor in the 101XS? (assuming that you have experience of both devices of course.)

I would indeed consider the 97XS, if it were available in the UK, or if I'd heard anything about it becoming available soon. Also I find myself attracted to the 8 inch screen because of the greater portability (currently owning a ten inch tablet.) However if the general performance of the 80XS (and indeed the performance with more demanding games such as Shadowgun and GTA) is not up to scratch I may have to reconsider and have a look at the 101XS. Or the 97XS if it ever comes out over here!
Also, has your 80XS graced you with it's presence yet?
Mis-informed
I seem to have neglected to do a proper Google search in that respect, while the 97XS is not shown on the UK store. It is available for purchase on the European store in the correct currency.
Only £20 more as well...hmmm, tempting.
[Edit] Ahhh but after yet another look at the webpage it doesn't come with a coverboard for £200, the coverboard is actually another £50. Which is a bit irritating really.. :/

Here we go.
I like it a lot, so far. The onscreen keyboard layout is a bit weird, but I'm sure I'll either get used too it, or I'll install another.
I love the weight of it. Feels great, and I won't mind letting my 3½ yo kid play with it.
I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of a cover board in the pack, but this is my first tab, so...
I won't be spending much time with it in portrait mode, that's for sure. I feels a bit awkward that way.
But I think it has a nice balance in landscape mode. (Screen can rotate 360°)
Comes with Jelly Bean 4.1.1
Sd-card slot is a open slot. (Can't figure out if I like that or not.)

Shame about the lack of coverboard, and also the non-working camera. :/ Especially considering the build quality is meant to be really quite good on the gen 10 series.
And excellent, I merely selected Shadowgun as a fairly graphically intensive example of a game

The 80 xs will not meet your demands. Been playing a bit more with it. My big kid played hill climb racing and I noticed quite a bit of lag.
