Yo!
I just had this crazy idea while browsing Xda...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24399745
Is any developer willing to port this sexy rom to Arc?
It's an GS2 rom and Arc has almost as big screen and I think about the same resolution....
It would be legend...dary! I'd try it myself, but I don't even know how to cook a rim using Winrar!

WHy do you want tablet mode?
It would be cool! Arc has a big screen anyway, it could work

Samsung has released a list of devices that are scheduled to be updated to Jelly Bean. Missing from this list is the Captivate Glide. Oddly enough, they've chosen the Galaxy Chat (a phone that clocks in with a single-core, 850 MHz processor and a 1200 mAh battery) as the qwerty phone to update. (Indeed, all the phones to be updated are "Galaxy" phones.)
Source: The Verge
If our phone can run ICS, it can run JB, Samsung can't try to blame TouchWiz in this case like they did with the first Galaxy S when they said that the phone was in fact capable of running ICS, but not with TouchWiz, in our case, if the phone can run ICS with TouchWiz, it can run JB with TouchWiz.
So, please, Samsung, enough with the BS, and start working on JB for the Glide, I don't want to have to wait till 2013 to get the proper JB Source Code, because, that's the only thing that matters for me, the Source Code with the propietary drivers, because, let's be honest, who the f*ck wants JB with TouchWiz on top of it ? I want pure, stock, unmodded, untouched, vanilla Android.
It's no surprise, really. Doing ICS for the Glide has proven to be a hell of a lot more work than they anticipated and it's only sticking to their word that's keeping them at it.
We WILL have Jellybean ROMs of our own. There's no important kernel differences, it will come in time. Have patience, this is a ***** of a phone to develop for.
If Samsung Galaxy R gets Jelly Bean, then there's very, very good chance that we, me, and you will get to have Jelly Bean OS, just it's difficult to develop something that work, due to the difficulty of dealing with the useless digital blobs. It's like building a house without the foundation AND excepting it to stand.

Aren't updates for carrier based phones dependent on carriers (in this case AT&T or Rogers)? So Samsung won't comment on those phones. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Didn't At&T make the initial announcement last time for ICS?
That is one thing I hate about Android, the updates and not getting them.I must admit my next phone may be a nexus as those always get the updates since they are the ones Android is developed for. I may have to say by to the hardware keyboard and replace it with a Bluetooth keyboard case. Till then 2 more years with my glide and what ever little updates that intakes.

LOL I actually hate the proprietary phones much more. They are 100% useless if you are looking for a phone that you could customizable. I perfer Android more than any other phone OSes (personal perference).

Nexus is running Android. It is the phone Google makes all its builds for. Nexus is fully customizable as well.
I know Nexus is an Android hardware, in fact I wish I can afford to have this (pretty expensive - $400 to 1,000 depending on how "fresh" it is on the market and what's inside it).

hello d man is working on a custom ics rom for us. once he has finished that project he has promised us a jelly bean custom rom as well. so dont panic, the dman is to our rescue. I can tell you if you are expecting to have an AT rom for jelly bean they will mes that one as they did with the ics rom update. So i wont install any att rom from samsung and will wait for the dman to provides his custom rom and will have no more at bloat ware and it will bea vanillia experience of android ICs and Jelly bean since he is working with pure Android code from google AOsP, and AOKPA. If i am spelling these short codes names.

I thanked you accidentally. The Galaxy Nexus is actually selling for a pretty reasonable price on the Google Play store, I think around 350.
I see. There are MORE than one Nexus out there, though.
BTW, I think you can remove the thank.

NO, none till date.
Thanks for reply, I am currently using xperia pro, and would like to shift to glide because of better hardware spec. How would to rate glide and associated experience. Is it worth switching? Keyboard is real concern here else better spec phone alreay available in market.

Keyboard's nice, yes but also the USB-OTG, dual-core CPU and OLED screen were the selling point for me.

Yeah Dman and The Collective are beasts at making roms, and they are very active in the xda community.

Greetings.
I was switching from an MK16i, and i have to say it really worth it! The Captivate Glide beats the Xperia Pro in every aspect, except battery life (it's roughly the same).
I'm have been looking around for a new phone to replace my Samsung Galaxy Ace and came down to these two phones i.e. Xperia S amd Xperia Ion and I'm really torn. I can't make up my mind at all.
As you all are users already, I would like to get some insight into these two phones, the things I'm looking into are :
1)Developer community support (custom roms and stuff).
2) Battery life under moderately heavy usage(I won't mind charging once or twice daily)
3) Screen- contrasts, blacks, whites
4) I think the Camera is basically the same? Right?
5) All the reviews I've read have complained about the capacitive keys on both of them. How is it in reality? Is there a learning curve to it?
Any input would be highly appreciated. No trolls please.
Thanks.

I think all ions are locked bootloader so therefore the development is limited

1)Development of XS is more than ion
2)ion's battery is bigger than XS , it must charging once a day if you use an android phone.
About screen and camera, i have not used ion, i dont know
the capacitive keys......i only want to say it's not hard to use

Yes, I think ARNOB is right. It can be unlocked I think.
ARNOB, how's the Ion?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
At&t ions cant be bootloader unlocked, the rest can.
Ion has bigger screen and sd card support. Developer comunity is a lot bigger for xperia s. Capacitive buttons work fine on the ion(on mine i need only one press). Personally i was going to go for an S but choose the ion instead.

Well, I've used a galaxy ace as well as both Xperia S and Xperia Ion. So here's my conclusive answer.
1. The community is very big for the Xperia S but in terms of mods and everything, ion is no way left behind.
2. Xperia Ion HSPA has a better battery imo compared to the LTE variant(due to 4G) and Xperia S.
3. Xperia S is said to have a larger dpi resulting a sharper display though I couldn't really feel the difference. While the Xperia Ion has deeper blacks, larger screen.
4. Camera is fully identical.
5. The capacitive buttons for both have no issues. But you might need a week to get used to it as its quite different from Samsung.
Hope it helps

I recommend you to buy the Xperia S. Because of the better battery life and developer support.
Nothing wrong with a Ion. I really like mine. There are some bugs in JB but nothing you cant get around. A unlocked version would be best.

What do you think are the chances are of Sony releasing jb 4.4 for our devices I mean our devices would be more than enough to handle it.
What do you guys think?
Would it still be possible even though Qualcomm has stopped support for S3 snapdragon chipsets?
None!
Simple as that...

i think the same, there are no chance of getting android 4.4 kitkat.at the most we may get 4.2 or 4.3 jelly bean but there are only 2% chances :fingers-crossed: lets hope for the best.but we may get the taste of android 4.4 by great xda developers with less feature that depend on any new type of hardware
That's the weird thing 4.2 & 4.3 are said to be more hardware intensive than 4.4 and it is most unlikely we will get them for our devices.
Yet a lot of websites mention its likely that 4.4 will hit the Xperia family including the S.
What is also been said is 4.4 will or has been designed to run on aged out devices from:
512 RAM
Single low clock speed processors
And our phones come in the mid range of the Xperia family.
Which exceed the suggested minimum basic specs nneeded.
I wish Sony could just say yes or no wether it was possible as I don't want to upgrade as its only been 6 months since I got this device it's ggood but I was surprised how quickly this was shunned and newer devices came out from Sony.
When I see Z1 released with 4.2.2, 4.4 for XS is just a dream.
Sony must sell Z1 as new flagship and it certainly won't update and support 2011/12 device anymore.
I would like that, of course but that won't happen.
I'm trying to find unlockable Z1 in Croatia - I really like that device.

if that's true then great, finally sony updates the device quickly
this is a good sign, cause I still want sony for my next device
but for XS... I don't think so
just hope with rayman in the CAF kernel.. but it will not come soon.. and you ask too early

Hmm...
Screen isn't really bad it's great HD screen but some users reported that they have that stupid yellow tint over screen.
And that's extremely annoying from Sony.
I'll buy it but only and if I can check it first (I already arranged that).
There's great little piece of software for screen testing so I'll use that.

yes yes. its just a dream. will not came
Well letama may make a 4.4 build for xperia s
And xperia s isnt slow, stock rom its self is heavy, roms like cm10 are rocket fast on xperia s
We may just get 4.4 if we ask letama or raymanFX kindly
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
you will receive even 5.0 if came out.. But stability may be problem.
Anyway, i am on the way to upgrade to Z1.
I believe 4.4 will come some time later.
Some expert in XDA will make it. But Sony wont
remember snapdragon has stopped supporting s3 cpu that's why there's no kernel for jb 4.2 and 4.3
yeah experts in XDA are making it now but i dont think sony cares about it
Our lovely Xperia S is now an orphan. Only users care about it
The performance can definietly do 4.2 4.3 or 4.4, but sony just want us to buy new phones
I saw this in some site.. Can someone translate this.. I think we may get 4.4.. :silly:
Just look on the side of picture (Right) which phones will get it
edit: Sorry i missread.
