Hi guys,
last few days I'm going crazy with my HOX, its just performing badly.
Battery drain is obvious, and it is constantly warm or very warm on top.
I dont have anything special on it, using it for business, several mail accounts with Smart Sync, FB, TW, LN, Viber. Hardly play any games. Surf a lot on 3G/WiFi, but I need to charge it very often, every few hours.
What to do?

You have a rogue app causing partial wakelocks.
Please use this app to get more info

Ok I gonna try to help. Download antutu battery saver. It made a difference on my hox sadly it seems if you use ur hox not over Wifi and you do anything data like stuff it drains it like crazy. Also install system toolbox for the hox. They both help improving battery life.

Thnx 4 help.
Main problem is that I don't have ROOTed phone.
Any experience with apps? Can Viber do this drain?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Try gsam battery monitor. Look for it in play store. I don't think it requires root.
I don't think viber would cause so much drain. But a good battery monitor app Will help you pin point rogue apps.

Oh no Rott i understand. Well it does sound like an app causing an issue and like fellow members suggest try one of the apps to download i have the betterbatterystats old free version if u need it it still work on the htc one x. Or one other but also way more annoying thing you can do is factory resseting ur phone download the apps one by one and then you can see what app is causing the issue. But yeah somehow using the HOX over cellphone data rather then Wifi seems to drain it fast i do have the same issue. it is unpleasent. you also could look in to something like this http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008LK1Z4G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A1EPR23ZPMBS2F

disable fastboot, autosync
Had the same problem. No application really helped. Batter stat applications can't really find the culprit. Juice defender didn't eliminate the problem either. My phone has been running two weeks without the problem. This is what I tried.
1. Disable fastboot. I previously had fastboot enabled. Right beside the option, it says if you enable fastboot, some application may not work properly.
2. Disable autosync. For sense weather, use manual sync.
Other than that, don't disable google location services. If I disable google location, my phone got warm every time I went to a different town.
I wonder if its an antenna problem. If you have a bad connection in the antenna it will cause battery drainage.
How is your connection on WiFi?
Well it lookes like it is draining but mostly when your screen is on.
Heat in the back is the typical symptom of high CPU usage.
I too suggest gsam.
It might be a kernel bug where the clocks are stuck at max clocks. Try rebooting a few times and check it with setcpu.
Three weeks after fastboot and autosync disabled, my phone's back got hot again without using anything and screen off. OS monitor showed CPU clock at 384Mhz. A reboot solved the problem. It happened that I used google map and navigation earlier that day. During the past three weeks, I had not used them. The sudden drain of battery happened when I was in a different town I haven't been before.
So, I guess it is kernel bug related with map. Particularly, I suspect it was the auto cache feature that's causing the problem. However, map auto cache cannot be disabled.

Ive a problem with my htc one x.ive bought one yesterday.my android os consume a lot battery...how to fix this on my baby.ill post some pictures..

Are you rooted or no? Go through accounts and sync and turn off what you don't need. Go to apps in settings and remove + disable as many apps and services as you can as long as they aren't vital to your os. Don't use HTC preinstalled software; it drains battery.
Turn screen brightness to auto. Try to use a plain wallpaper preferrably dark. Remove a lot of widgets from your wallpaper. Turn off haptic feedback and only show some animations. Reboot your phone.

no its not rooted yet, ive planet to root on this morning but when i tried to turn in on , my htc had no battery left ! and than i sow this problem ! , ill try to update it with system update and i hope the problem will fixed
ive no accounts yet , and ive disabled all animations
Do a battery test. You should get 88percent left after test.

I got about 78% after the built in HTC battery test, directly after a format. Unfortunately according to the test, over 70% is a pass.
How long did you play this Glowball Demo? 3D Games consume a lot of Battery. Also, turn on USB Debugging, in some cases this also helps.

any reason why that would help with battery life? though that only kicked in once a USB is connected?
Sorry, but I can't give a reason. I read something about /init Process that does take CPU time and might drain the battery. But I'm not this deep into the system.
A friend of mine uses a DHD and on his device it worked significantly. So I'm only telling what I heard :/

I know this horse has been beat to death, I'm just hoping I can get maybe one bit of info that will help me resolve this issue before I just swap out to another phone. I really don't want to, but I'm just so sick of being chained to a charging cord all day. My phone should be able to hold a charge for at least 1 day, I don't even use it that much!
So with my little tirade out of the way, let me give you the facts I've got a Samsung Galaxy S II/SPH-D710, and the battery just drains down so fast, and the phone's barely 6 months old. I've downloaded numerous process monitoring apps, designed to see what's going on, and they all point at WiFi being the culprit. The phone never hits deep sleep because the wireless is keeping it awake. Sure enough if I turn WiFi off and I go 3G/4G all day my battery is fine. Problem is I can't get to that next level and find out what program or process is causing the WiFi to be on all the time. Even more frustrating, every time there's an upgrade like FI27 or FL24 which I'm on now, the battery works fine for a day or two. Then something kicks in and destroys the battery. My thought is it's got to be an app, I just don't know which one.
So before I kick this piece of **** out the window, I was hoping someone could please help me figure out what app/process is the cause of my battery drain.
Get DS Battery Saver. It will force all of your stuff off when you turn off the screen so that it will go into deep sleep.

Get a new battery?
Apps, batteries, ics vodoo it's a host of things that can solve your battery drain issue. Being that your phone is 6 months old I have to rule out the battery. The fact that your on ics is going to be main culprit, stock ics was not the best at managing battery use. There's something revving the crap out of your Wi-Fi, while Wi-Fi is on even while your screen is off there are processes going on in the background that are using Wi-Fi to send receive, update, sync, you name it and all you need to do is pinpoint these processes.
Some apps in the play store can help, but some of these apps can consume battery also, so it's best to delete it after troubleshooting.
If your phone is working properly and your not a social media junkie while it sleeps it should not be using any battery at all, just enough to keep your processor awake.
I keep notifications are sync off on my phone, while I'm out and about I'll check email or do a quick sync if I want to check for some incoming whatever. Most of the time I want info on my terms, not every minute with chimes beeps or lights flashing.
If you use google maps disable background location reporting, location services just use "location and search " disable Wi-Fi and GPS usage for location services.
This is a start, but I recommend Jb ga10 stock/rooted to give your phone a stable os.
I run stock/rooted Jb de-bloated with minimal apps, no games (all the games I like are on my Galaxy Tab 10.1) I use my phone for calls........... navigation and media player while driving. I get 16 to 20 hrs on a charge.
Pp. :thumbup::beer:
Transmitted from another galaxy with a Jellybean infused P-5113 full of Unicorn porn.
I get about 20 hours on the Vanilla RootBox JB ROM. YMMV. I also had terrible battery life on the stock ROM and every other one I tried. This is the first ROM that's bested 10 hours. Again, YMMV.
what rom are you on? tw? cm?
Have you used Better Battery Stats? Or the JB release candidate GB08?
Not to raise the dead, I've just been busy, but this is still an issue for me. I upgraded to JB GB27, and I love the GUI, it’s such a step up from ICS. But I’m still getting **** for battery life. Yes if I use DS Battery Saver it works and I get good battery life. However all those programs cause flaky restart issues. The phone will just restart for no reason. More importantly it’s not getting at the root of the problem.
IRL I’m a computer tech and I can’t just let this go, as previously stated I’m tired of being shackled to the phone charger. I’ve swapped in a new battery, it’s not the battery. I even turned on the setting “Keep WiFi On > Only when plugged in”. That did improve the battery a little, but I still can’t make it through the day without being charged. I’m on the phone maybe combined 30min of phone calls, 30 min checking email, and an hour or so of miscellaneous watching video etc. I know heavy users that are on their phones all day, or let their kids watch Disney movies all night. I’m not that guy, I’ve had numerous cell phones and never have I had one that couldn’t hold a charge all day.
I will be diligent in monitoring this thread, please give me your troubleshooting tips and I’ll report back with the results.
Downlpaf betterbatterystats. And find the wakelocks.

Can do, will let you know at the end of the day.
EDIT: Actually I read multiple issues with SG2 and BetterBatteryStats. However your wakelock comment made me stumble onto the app Wakelock Detector. Again I'll run it and report back. Thanks for the point in the right direction.
Ive noticed no better or worse battery between being rooted/custom rom and stock not rooted. However my phone gets about 16 hours on average. My friend has an epic as well and gets only 10 hours. I feel as though it depends on the user and apps. Facebook is a silent killer. As is any app that uses backround. Best setup ive had so far is billgeryans Quattro Rom with ds and greenify. I pulled a whopping 25 hour minimal use before charge and 13 hour heavy use day.....

With titanium backup. You can also install greenify. It puts your apps in hibernation when your screen is off. So basically it's like freezing and unfreezing. Tbh I think it's better using greenify.

titanium can and you can create a widget to do it easily per app.
or
app-quarantine in playstore
or what I do:
shell commands usind connectbot widgets with a command like this:
pm disable-user com.facebook.katana
pm enable com.facebook.katana

so my 2 cents:
1) get a second battery and charger.
2) betterbatterystats to identify "bad" apps and either get rid of them or deal with them.
3) "autostarts" app to stop crap from auto starting on boot that you don't need running as a service.
4) dim screen! huge huge savings. keep it dim enough to use the phone.
Battery issues well I have a solution that won't solve but greatly helps. It's called greenify. It puts all running apps in hibernate mode. It's not like a task killer that just screws things up. U can choose what u want to hibernate and all that jazzy stuff. It's worth a shot. All in all if you want a bada$$ battery efficient rom go with wcx stock rooted rom. It's simply amazing. Hope I was at help

Check out greenify if you're rooted. It removes all currently unused apps and processes from memory, essentially putting them into deep sleep. That combined with ds battery saver and watching your wake locks will drastically improve battery life:beer:

Okay so does Greenify do this freeze automatically, the interface is a little clumsy. I appreciate all the help guys.
Hello.
In my previous phone - HTC Sensation, when not use, battery takes 1-3% for an hour or even two. I buy Note 2 and I heard about great battery life (even with screen on - 6h-8h). But in my opinion it discharge faster than my previous phone, even when not in use. I post screenshoots, and can somebody told me where is the problem?
http://imgur.com/a/ChtrE
I think you should stop locus pro and turn off gps, just for tried if it's that drains battery
I would suggest an app called Greenify but it shouldn't be a solution. However, what I can suggest it for you to go into settings/data and disable the apps that tend to connect to the net in the background. Furthermore, install BBatteryStat and look for partial wake lock and see what apps keep waking your device. Once you understand what's using up resources you can mention them here and we can help you solve accordingly.

I use Greenify and BBS - see screenshots which i post. Maybe FB Chat is problem, because my last phone kill service in some time (because of ram), note 2 not kill, and app is always running as service.
Installed wake lock detector and saw the app with the highest wake lock with Facebook. Or is it some other issue causing it? Should I just give it a clean format? Eg. Install a new ROM or reset everything.

Facebook is well known for this high wakelock.
Either uninstall it or hibernate it using Greenify.
If you want to keep the real time notification for FB, bear with this battery drain. Or perhaps find 3rd party facebook app.

Before you restore back, it's a good idea to try hibernate/uninstall the FB first.
If you still get high-battery drain, then the main culprit is not only the FB. Perhaps you've installed something else lately?
I always get high-wakelock for FB, even after fresh install the ROM.

Not at all. I bought my Note 2 sometime in August 2012. Still using it with the original / initial battery. It is working fine. You could check on the following factors that may be causing high battery drain:
1) Did you do a recent reset/flash. I noticed that everytime I do a fresh install the batteries take a couple of 2 days to settle down. Possibly due to heavy indexing.
2) Are you keeping the phone close to a heat / cold source. Temperatures beyond the normal threshold can lead to power drain.
3) Check running apps. - I see you are already trying wakelock detector and greenify.
4) If you have been using system tweaking tools, you may want to check your CPU governor settings. Sometimes, you may have accidentally set the min CPU threshold to a high value while playing with rooted s/w. Which could result in CPU being driven more leading to power drain.
5) Check signal levels, 3g usage, brightness settings etc.
1)install betterbatterystats- able to let u keep track whats wakelock and check deepsleep status.
2) install greenify- with this xda higly recommended app you able to hibernate any apps you want.
If problem still exist, replace new battery.
Good luck.

I'm using PureKat ROM for my Desire Z, and recently I've noticed that the battery drains so fast when I'm on career's 3G network (WiFi doesn't have this problem). I suspect on Google Play Services and I've disabled to auto-start, wake up and keep awake the phone and most of it's unnecessary services using this tutorial but it doesn't help. I've attached battery usage statistics after charging (all is normal there as you can see). Also I want to mention that 3G is mostly off (especially when it charges) so battery lasts as long as it is disabled (it can last for several days without 3G I think), and charging is really fast!
Has anyone had this problem?
Just to be on the safe side, check to see if this also happens on a stock ROM. I remember my old G2 did something like this. Can't check it anymore because my son killed it when I left him use it.

Thanks for the suggestion! Which exactly stock ROM version to use? And if I do that, it will disable root and restore to S-ON, right?
I thought that the problem was with battery, but when I replaced and tested it again, it still acts the same :/
Can anyone help me?
I think that is normal because my desire z give me only 3 hours on 3g and about 6.5 hours on WiFi and now using htc one it also have quit same battery timing like that !

I think that I've solved it with SetCPU profiles. Battery life is noticeably better now.
