Does anyone know when NYC will be getting LTE? My 3g has been slow lately. Slower than when I first got the phone. Slower after the LG8 update actually.
It is supposed to be functional in November, 2012, and completed in May 2013.
Currently 5% complete.

So one person said ICS would be released in Q4 which is that Sept-Dec? Either way when can I realistically expect to see a phone with ICS on Verizon?
I am thinking of sticking with my Inc until then. I love my inc, and the current options aren't great IMO (Maybe Sammy Galaxy S II) and I know as soon as I pick one up shortly after the ICS phones will come out.
Now I understand the Thunderbolt, Inc2, Bionic, and MotoDroids will probably be able to get ICS when its released (assuming they can be rooted) however here is my issue with that.
1. If ICS is anything like Honeycomb the need for physical buttons will be no longer. Therefor on older phones you will have buttons that don't work (maybe)
2. An ICS phone will be optimized for running that software. Presumably
I truly hope ICS doesn't disappoint, because as great as Android is with features...it lacks in design. I am NOT getting an Iphone, but the little animations and feel of the phone is much cleaner IMO. Hopefully ICS can capture that in its own way.

Realistically you should expect ice cream sandwich on verizon sometime next year the reasons for this is because google releases their latest android os to their pure google nexus devices first but we could see it on verizon this year if the LG Nexus 3 goes to verizon sometime this christmas but it will most likely be on tmobile or sprint and yes the nexus 3 will be made by LG
Well according to the latest rumors the Nexus 3 or Nexus 4G as it's supposedly named, will have 4G LTE so that means Verizon but you never know. It would be frickin amazing though; ICS, 4G LTE, UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, and more timely updates than other phones (using timely loosely).
Looks like the new Nexus is going to AT&T.

Yup AT&T has 4g lte to but for now they are using hspa + until their 4g lte is ready to roll out so its logical that it will either come to ATT or verizon but most likely since every nexus phone has been gsm it will got ATT

It seems kind of illogical to me for it to be released on AT&T if it were to have LTE because by that time AT&T would probably have minimal LTE coverage in a couple of markets compared to the 100+ Verizon plans on having by the end of the year. If I recall correctly, Verizon is at 74 markets as of the 16th I believe. It wouldn't make sense to release a "4G" phone on a network with almost no coverage... But then again, I want it to go to Verizon. Lol

Well ATT bought tmobile recently so that gives them more coverage and it could go to verizon just like the nexus s went to sprint and tmobile
I don't think T-Mobile has LTE so it wouldn't increase AT&T's LTE coverage. And the merger if it happens (it probably will) won't be until early next year possibly the end of this year; which would probably be after the Nexus 3 (or 4G or whatever the hell it's going to be called) will be released.

Why the hell can't Verizon get a Nexus device, every carrier has had one except VZ.
and AT&T? 10char
Current Epic 4G Touch user here. Looking to upgrade but worry about the Samsung Radio. Since upgrading to Galaxy S2 from EVO OG, the radio has been very week. 3G speeds are terrible, and GPS takes a long time to get a lock.
Wondering if the SIII has the same issues.
The s3 is much better

MUCH better
I filed FCC and Attorney General complaints against Sprint over the E4GT because the radio was THAT bad.
Ive been very happy with the S3. Ive owned almost every Samsung handset that has come to Sprint in the last 4 years and I have to say, I swore off of them after the E4GT fiasco but they have won me back.
Hey forum I have a few questions. I searched the question already but couldnt find any relating threads. I was reading through Flipboard earlier today and saw that T-Mobile will be turning on 4g LTE in about a week or two. I also read that they will be releasing a 4G LTE supported GS3. its really unfair but, that brings me on to my question, Since our Galaxy SIII arent capable of 4G LTE as is will someone work on flashing them so we can have LTE instead of having to buy a new device? Or are we stuck with having to buy either the new SIII, iPhone 5 or Note 2? thanks
Have to buy the new enhanced galaxy s3 with 4G LTE compatibility and in which the LTE enable comes in a new software update

Its really pointless to get a LTE phone right now. It doesnt matter what carrier you have...LTE is only live in a few markets...look how long it took to get 4G....and even now 4G is still not available is some areas. By the time your 2 year contract is up...if your currently on the GS3...then look at purchasing a LTE phone.

Unfortunately, we've been screwed. I'm willing to bet on it that our current handsets won't work and in a place in NYC where LTE is everywhere it's really a shame for someone like me.
They should at least have some type of upgrade program like if you're on contract with an original S3 you can turn it in and pay like $50 or $100 or something like that and get one with LTE.
Not a big deal since im already getting 22 megs down in parts of Denver which is fast enough for me
I just got a sIII a little more than a month ago and I'm good with my non lte version. I'm totally happy with a device on a fairly mature and built out hspa+ network. The lte version will probably cost more and the tmo lte network is in its infancy with little to no footprint. I'll wait on lte til my next upgrade cycle.

If you are getting speeds over 8-10mbs and over 1 up then don't see what the issue is and why people feel the need for LTE right now.
Its a battery hog and hardly around.
I am in a spotty 4g section at work and get 3 down and under 1 up and still content...I can download movies from Netflix just fine. Pages load fast....and that is in a bad area.
At home or most other areas I am in the 20s down and 2 up.
For me, I have no need for it, unless they fix the battery hog issues.
It will be sometime before it hits smaller cities anyway.

Don't see a point in changing phones right now just because LTE... for me, 15mbps download is more than enough for current applications and usage. I rather have an unlimited/uncapped plan that allows me to use 15mbps all the time.
Do not get the Iphone 5 or note 2.
Wait About 4 months and get the new s4 which I'm sure will be equipped with lte, and by that time tmo lte will be more stable then in about 2 weeks.
My average down speed is around 13-16 and upload is around 1.7-2, so I am in no rush to have lte.

I loved being able to do a speed test against the LTE Verizon S3 and beat the pants off it in a Verizon building. Something to be said for a more mature tech.
Hello Everyone. I think this belongs in the developers forum but I am no allowed to post there yet. My apologies.
I had a EVO 4G for over two years Flashed over to Boost Mobile. I never had problems with data connection as I am with Galaxy S3.
Two weeks ago I Flashed a Spring Galaxy S3 over to Boost Mobile but my data speeds have been unbearable, I always have 1x showing and its super slow eventually drops. It basically cycles between, nothing, one bar of 1g, one bar of 3g, then nothing again.
Not sure if its fair but I am starting to put he blame on the Galaxy S3 simply b/c it works fine on the EVO 4G.
Phone Info:
Model Number: SPH-L710
Android 4.1.2
PRL Version: 61009
Mobile Network Type: EvDo-re.A:8
Signal Strength: -91 dBm 2 asu
Can anyone please help!?
Mine did the same thing. What I did i reflashed upgrade the prl and made sure network mode is on cdma not lte/cdma

boost galaxy s3
I have a boost galaxy s3 and this has horrible service, upgraded from the warp and this thing is horrible with data service. The Verizon version works just fine. Did factory reset after firmware update and still have issues with the data service. Hope if we get the kit Kat update will be fixed. This phone is stock not rooted. Tried the connection fix in market that fixes 30+ times per day. Not always reliable tho. If any knows of a fix or tried something that seems to work I am a willing tester. Anything but root and custom firmware on this device. And I do not have wifi here and my connection is set to cdma only sprint connection optimizer disabled. Android 4.3.
Boost Mobile gets no data connection

Hi, just wondering if you ever got data to work on your Samsung Galaxy SIII?
If so, could you help me out please.
Thanks
The phone was never rooted. After sprint 4.3 upgrade, the lte network becomes extremely slow. Speed test shows only 0.01 Mbps at my workplace. it was like 3.5 Mbps before the upgrade at the same spot.
I then rooted it. Downgrade to MC2 basebend. Still the same. I can get up to 25 Mbps at other locations so the phone is fine.
It had been working perfectly since I got the note 2 until the sprint upgrade.
Now I can't use the phone at work!!! Please help!!!
Same with me sprint told me towers were down I believe it because my gf phone is the evo 4g lte and her Internet suck to but everywhere else in town it's great
