Lost Data completely after Rooting/Flashing - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I rooted and flashed my phone and everything worked great but my data package stopped working Completly. I restored the phone back to stock ROM using Odin but still no data (wifi still works). I checked my IMEI number and it appears fine.
The instructions i followed to root the phone was the one where you do not tripp the flash counter, and I backed up IMEI using the NV reader, and the ROM i installed was the Sonic Rom. The only thing I think I could have done wrong is when I went to use the NV reader I accidentally started backing up the entire array of numbers and I canceled the operation midway through. I then just backed up just the IMEI and installed the ROM.
Is it possible I corrupted something when I hit cancel? And please does anyone know how I can get my data working? I was on the phone with tmobile for over an hour today and they were zero help.
thanks.

Exact same thing happened to me..I used PeopleArmy's method and tried re-injecting the correct IMEI back into the phone for a couple hours, then suddenly, my data started working again out of nowhere. Really weird, but it fixed my issue..good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply. did you use PeopleArmy method to recover a lost IMEI number? My issue is a little different. I still have IMEI numbers but I have no data signal working on the phone at all.
I did not get many many replies, maybe my original post was hard to understand...
My H+ and 3G indicator lights blink as if they are working but my phone is completly unable to use any data services. WiFi works, Cellular Voice works but no data.
When I first got the phone everything worked great but after I rooted and flashed it started showing a screen on my browser indicating that my data plan was not compatible with my handset. Tmobile could not help, since I have the correct data plan, my previous phone is the awesome HD2. Please let me know what I can do to fix the phone.

[Q] Data problems... posted solutions aren't working.

Almost a week ago now, i decided to flash a 4.2 aosp rom on my s3. After the flash i couldnt get any data over cellular network. I noticed my IMEI was 00, so i followed the steps on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804123 to restore my IMEI. After my IMEI was restored i was able to get data that immediately dropped down to edge netowork. In my area we have no LTE with at&t but we do have hspda+ with strong signal everywhere. I eventually found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29461950#post29461950 and i have taken every step on this post, now multiple times, with no change. I have flashed back to stock with odin and tried it all again. I still have edge network only. At this point I will see 4g for at most 30 seconds after every reboot and then immediately lock into edge network. I feel defeated. I can get my phone replaced under warranty, but at that point i will be afraid to modify it anymore. If i find a fix i can feel safe using my phone unlocked/rooted because i will know how to fix it.
Please if anyone has any tips or help that i can try, let me know. Im desperate at this point.

Your solution fixed the problem. Thanks!
I also had the same identical problem,, I followed the steps by selecting "all" on all 3 , and then selecting "automatic", but it loses 4g after just a few mins.. I restored the IMEI, replaced the sim card, and everything.. We don't get LTE here but I still selected "all"...

restoring efs with nvtools/qpst

hi guys, i flashed the lte modem on my phone and it seems that its wiped out my efs folders, ive been trying to restore my efs folder with nvtools and qpst, neither seems to work since somehow dm mode is not responding to them
any solns? ty in advance for any help
a couple of things:
ive already odin'd back to stock, no luck on restoring efs(perhaps im doing something wrong?) i dialed *#7284# and put it into the RNDIS+DM+MODEM mode, nvtools says phone failed to answer while QPST says that comm7(the samsung serial port) is not a phone
its pretty had to do this since the phone is rebooting itself every other minute
Questions and help issues go in Q&A
Thread moved
Thanks
FNM
Been there, sucks. For me to get out of the constant restarts I had to flash the lte modem again. Flash stock (odin) flashed cwm (odin), put the modem on my external sd card and flashed that.At least that way I could work on it a little. And below is basically what I did to finally get it to work. Hard to say all my steps as I was trying everything.
Well I dont really know how I got mine back to life, tried all the standard stuff from the threads, got my imei back but had no network, network type, service nothing helped. last resort I said whatever ill try anything now. Came across this
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-n...3g4g-aws-bands-on-att-galaxy-note-2-sgh-i317/
whatever it did it restored everything (cold see carrier, network, etc)but corrupted imei, next i followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117
If you need this is a complete no imei nv backup I used before flashing my imei with the generator
http://db.tt/4hunZ7qy
used the imei generator, then the writer (link on post does not work for the imei generator,so found it here
http://d-h.st/vVV
Wrote my imei back and presto, back in action. Fully functional again, including 4G
Like I said this was a last resort, but worked

got it fixed on friday, was so tired that i went to sleep
basically i followed someone's post on the forum(forgot name) and flashed the tmo modem, since the mct one always gave me the bootloop, then i enabled DM mode and finally got nv tools/qpst to recognize my phone, it appears that the issue was that the drivers does not recognize the new modems..
anyway, once i was done restoring nv, i flashed the tmo lte modem and paranoid android
now i have my imei back and i can use lte
although my bluetooth address still says unknown..not sure if normal
My bluetooth also says unavailable, I would think if you are not hooked up to bluetooth then it should say unavailable. Im to scared to flash the tmo lte modem again...

Cant make phone calls

I first seen this problem when i flashed synergy rom. My phone failed to activate so as a result it wouldnt make/recieve phone calls but i could text and use data normally. So i tried skipping the setup, using global apn, went to stock then came back, re-flashed many times and the result was either no service or i couldnt make/recieve calls. So i tried to Odin back to stock and unroot, then tried a different rom but still it wouldnt work. I then restored a backup i had of CS ROM but still not working. Any help would be appreciated.
Update: Okay so incase anyone runs into this problem I found a fix that works for me. What i did was bring my phone completely to stock and unroot it. Then i got a notification telling me about a software update, when i opened it a popup came telling me Im now registered. Then I rooted and flashed synergy rom, skipped the setup but then text or phone calls didnt work, so i put airplane mode on then off, and voila it working again.

Did you check your IMEI? If it's unknown or 0, there's a stickied thread on how to restore it.
Also, make sure you have the right modem for you carrier (modem thread if you're not sure). As well as having the right APNs.

Calls,messaging stopped working.

Hi,
I have been trying all day to find a solution to this. :crying:
This morning, i started to get just emergency calls only.
It isn't the sim which is working normally.
My IMEI number is 0049999010640000 which I think is maybe not right?
Bluetooth and wi-fi still works perfectly and there are signal strength in my signal indicator. I have tried restoring nandroid backups that were working great before but still have same problem.
In about status phone says,
network is identified, signal strength is good, BUT
Service state ...out of service.
Mobile Network state ...Disconnected
My phone number....Unknown
I have tried installing stock roms with pc odin to no avail.
Everything was working just two days ago, but I have flashed a few roms trying latest updates.
I have no EFS backup, (which might be something I do need?)
Is there any hope for my beloved Note 2?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Download mode, Twrp etc all still working.
Thanks:crying:
So your sim still works fine in another phone?
Nothing you can do you want an efs backup to get it working again

I lost my IMEI and baseband version when i tried loading the literom onto my phone. I tried restoring/repairing through the EFS Professional application but had no luck. I then tried flashing dman's rooted (UCLJ3) rom. The install went fine and when i booted there was No IMEI again. I tried pulling the battery and restarted again and voila it was all there all of a sudden . I have no idea how that happened but am really glad that i am able to use the phone.
See this link for the rom I flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994902
Oh and I've the At&t version and not the Rogers one.

So you didn't delete your /efs. It wouldn't magically appear again, deleted is deleted.
However, I had a similar case yesterday. I first run my phone and it told me to shutdown and insert SIM card. I inserted a SIM card without shutting down. After some time I realized I can't call. "About Phone" said IMEI is unknown. Restarting the phone didn't change it. But shutting down and removing the battery did. This is just my guess that this inserting a SIM card on-line was the cause of the problem. @tanmayk, maybe you did the same?

I know it can't magically reappear. And I am not entirely sure if the /efs folder was corrupted or the folder was deleted!!
I had tried flashing the liteRom when i got null/unknown(got both) IMEI errors. I tried flashing every other possible rom to get it back but it didn't help.
Even now when i try to flash the PAC-man nightlies I end up with Null IMEI and the only way I am able to get it back is going to Dman's rooted stock UCLJ3 rom.
If only I could get PAC-man nightlies running on the phone....

But did you do a clean install ? Or did you just freaked out and started flashing one ROM over the other without wiping anything ?

Wiped and did a clean install..tried dirty installs..but NOTHING has worked ! Just tried the most recent PAC build and i again have no IMEI :crying: :crying:
You won't have IMEI again without the files. Reflash stock rom, go to SSC and tell them you can't make calls.
