I love JB - it's very smooth. True it's still in kang stage but am consistently getting dropped calls. Either I cannot hear the caller or vice versa. The workaround has to call 2 or 3 times then i get a clear voice connection. I looked in the development forums and nobody seems to address this issue. Being a new xda member am not able to post in the CM10 Kang thread.

Hmmmm... never had that happen before.. how is the signal where you are it, is it possible that signal is just super flaky? Have you tried using odin or heimdall to flash a new modem?

I live in a 4G zone so I always have all 3G and 4G bars full all the time with this and other roms. This is the first ROM am having connection issues with. I flashed fc09 about a month ago and was on cm9 and aokp with no connection issues. Only flashed cm10 last week with different builds and they all seem to have this connection issue. What modem are u recommending?

The best modem is the one that works best for you... and 3g and 4g run off of different towers.. I also live in a 4g area, and while 4g is pretty reliable 3g can crap out pretty often... just try a different modem and if that don't help I can bring this up in the cm10 thread to see if anyone else is experiencing this or if there are more things you can try....
You should have posted this in the CM10 thread. Instead of creating a new one.
Also, I have no clue.

Decided to go back to aokp m6 after the broken call connection was still evident in all FC19/FC09/EL30 modems. Thanks everyone for the help. I'll try Jelly Bean some other time. The devs are already doing a lot porting JB to Epic. Now seriously considering getting the SIII.

Update: I went to a Sprint store and they confirmed(admitted) the call connection issues were being caused by the ongoing 4g lte tower by tower upgrades. Thought i'd post this update in case someone else needs it.

i'm posting here because it won't let me post in the development forum. i installed the 6/22 nightly synergy rom today. now, every time i go to make a phone call, i'm getting the "roaming charges may apply" warning, even though i'm in my house, and clearly not roaming. i don't want to shut off the roaming warning, and i actually need it working, because i will be out of town the rest of the week, and might end up in roaming. has anyone else experienced this?

Its ok youre not really roaming its because its a port from a sprint phone and so in your area you might not have sprint service so the sprint rom thinks your roaming but your really just on verizon.
yeah, i went into the phone info under settings, and it always says "not roaming", but i wasn't sure if it was a bug or not. the previous nightly i had installed (6/18 i believe) did not have this problem. it does get a little annoying to have to click through an extra dialog every time i make a call.

To fix this open your phone settings then go to:

Uncheck the 'Call Guard' option. Good luck.

Look on page 204 of the Synergy rom thread. Should be exactly what you're looking for, couldn't tell you why it's not in the OP.
Also, release one is dropping in a day or so. You should wait for that version to be posted in the OP rather than flash a nightly.

Ha well I've followed Synergy, both Nils 2.1 and 3.0 roms, and Optimized Shift very closely since their first betas.
Not sure if I'm posting in the correct section.. but wanted to ask the experts if there is a ROM that will allow me to have the Hot Spot Feature with my business plan... but NOT effect the WIFI calling performance? It's an absolute must that I have a good consistent WIFI calling as I have ZERO reception at my home office!
Thank you for any advice or help!

PS. I know that the S3's were having major issues with the WIFI calling up until a couple of weeks ago.. I heard it was on TMobiles end however.

I could be wrong, but as long as your flashing a touchwiz Rom, you should expect the same, ideally better, performance as stock.

this one is for JB http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451

its not intended just for you, it causes more clean up for mods as well and that's why they put the report option so the thread wouldnt be filled to the brim with comments about it being in the wrong section and Flaming the OP.
on another note have you flashed any of the roms yet?
Just got back to the house... I plan on flashing probably later this evening or tomorrow morning. Do you happen to know if there is any backup that literally mirrors your phone image? IE Text Messages etc?
One more question if you dont mind... I noticed on the way home I would pickup up Edge and "G" on my GS3... assuming this is AT&T.. the only way the phone was able to even see the signal is when I made some adjustments in the Roaming / register with the network settings. Is there any Rom or Flash that will allow the phone to work on the AT&T towers? I noticed I wasnt able to actually place a call on the network ... or at least not consistently when the phone saw almost full bar AT&T.
Thanks for the heads up!

well when roaming all roms intended for a t mobile version will switch to at&t towers but if you want to be constantly on att towers you would have to switch over to att.
also if your on jb right and root then just flash another jb rom touchwiz of course the settings will carry over msgs and such. same goes for ICS but if you wipe during the flashing process all of those settings will be lost. the way i do now is im on cm 10,1 and when ever a update comes out now i just press update no wiping is done during the process.

Thanks again for the advice.. I'm downloading the recommended link that you sent me for Root 66. Which Rom do you recommend for best all around performance & keeping stock touch wiz so as to not screw up the WIFI calling feature?
I have downloaded and done a clean install of the latest ROM from Team-Venom "Wicked Sensations v2.0" First of all the ROM is so in depth, and runs smoother than any other ROM I have used in the last year. There is only one issue. The only way I can use mobile data is if I switch the mobile network to CDMA, 4G LTE does allow me to send and receive phone calls but no text messages, or any data whatsoever. . I have read all of Team Venom's thread, well most of it anyways, and I cannot find anyone else having this issue. I am aware of the rules of the forums, so I am posting this under the Q/A as not to bog down or step on anyone's toes, in the developers thread.
Is there a fix for the 4G data issue, or is it just my phone? I have tried everything I can think of such as..
Flash stock Kernal
Flashed the latest radios
flashed the latest PRL's (not sure what that would do but I did it anyways)
tried toggling airplane mode on and off.
Since nobody else is having this issue, I am not sure what else to try. also, when I am using LTE, I DO NOT have the 4G icon next to my signal bars, like I do when I am on 3G.
Before you ask, yes, I do in fact live in an area that does have 4G, I am in Kansas City Kansas.
Anyone with an idea or know how I would be grateful.

Thanks for the replies all. I have done the suggested troubleshooting as follows
1: did a fresh install of the ROM (after wiping EVERYTHING first)
2. went through setup of the device (just to verify 4G was still not working, which it was not)
3. went to dialer and input ##486#
4. chose the reset option
5. entered my MSL # and then the phone did a factory reset.
When the phone came back up I had to go through the setup again, and had to turn on wifi to get through it because the data was still not working.
Also if anyone comes accross this and wants to know how to get the MSL # download a terminal emulator from the market and input "getprop ril.MSL"
Or check out this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28182339
Also while investigating the MSL further I found this possible solution-
"The phone needs to be re-provisioned as follows ##72786# or ##SCRTN# the phone may restart twice, after the restarts, launch a browser and type in your phone number on the prompt."
After following this, when I opened the browser I was not prompted to input anything I was only greeted with a connection error. :crying:
I am still searching for more answers. I am exploring ##DATA# but there is more in here than I am familiar with so I will hold of on this until I know what I am doing.
In the mean time 3G works so I am still able to use my phone just wish I could tether my 4G to my laptop.
Any other ideas are more than welcome.

Tha'ts weird, I just checked mine and it says global network. I switched it toe CDMA LTE and it works. Even sent a test text message to the wife phone and have no issues.. O here might be the issue. If you go to ##3282# under view then advance, see if LTE is enabled or disabled.. If it is enabled then I bet that is why you do not get 4G service.. I believe LTE does not have 4G service just 3G.. I have done this and my 4G went to 3G after enableing it.. If you have it disabled you will get 4G service..
That is a good idea but even then you have to wait five min. inbetween lol why couldn't I remember my old login that would be way easier

Well I have finally been able to get 4G data working on v2.0!!!
1. Wipe EVERYTHING
2. Flashed sensations v1.3
3. Reboot phone into recovery
4. Flashed v2.0
5. BEFORE REBOOTING OUT OF RECOVERY, Flash latest sprint radios
6. Reboot phone one last time
This has made 4G data work for me.
Im in the car right now, will try to remember to post a link to the latest radios. And PRL Updates. Those are nice to have too.

This is what I did and it seemed to work. I switched to cdma only then update profile and prl. Then when I switched back to cdma/lte everything seemed to work fine.
Titles says it all. I live in the baltimore MD area, and where i used to get 3-4 bars of 4g it wont connect to it anymore. I boot it up and it defaults to 3G. Ive tried playing with the mobile data settings and nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any ideas...because i use my phones data connection as home internet right now...

It just started today. Im on CM10 and i would occasionally lose a 4g connection and would have to swtich the mode from lte/whatever/whatever to the other mode...and then back to reconnect..but thats not working anymore....
Edit: This is killing me because I use it for home internet. Im paranoid simply because this is the first month ive used 4G ever...meaning i never even turned lte mode on in the mobile data settings..i didnt even know it was in my area until the beginning of this month.. Im just wondering if me toggling it on and off to get it to connect through CM10 caused this... Thats why im coming here..to smarter people then myself begging and pleaing for assistance and guidance.
Could it perhaps be that sprint was just testing my area for 4g?? OR how long does tower maintenance usually take.. Or that they cut me off from using 4g after using 30gb so far? I mean i have an unlimited plan so it shouldnt be an issue
No they didnt cut you off, they would send a letter before doing that
Second, it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for maintenance to complete on a tower. If you're really concerned, call Sprint and ask if they're in the process of upgrading towers in your area. Who knows, they might even give you some sort of "we're sorry for the inconvenience" credit

Im eyeballing this thread like a hawk for opinions and posts like this. Thanks for your input.
When I first used 4G It was actually by accident on the CM10.1 Nightly. I pressed the Mobile data toggle square in the settings and i saw 4g, I was thrilled that it was in my area. Switched back to stable CM10 and checked if it was up and running. and much to my surprise it wasnt some weird graphical error just showing the 4g icon. It was legit working.
Still isnt working on any rom ive flashed here. Now though since the issue began.
What are the chances in the short time ive used it, that i could have possibly damaged my phones abaility to connect to 4G? Sorry if that question is dumb.
Very little. I doubt that its a hardware issue, because if it were, you would see other things like core apps FCing, the other radios taking longer to connect, maybe even hot reboots when trying to turn on 4G
Like I said, when you have time call Sprint. Most likely the towers are being worked on and they turned it off meanwhile
You might wanna also wanna get Sensorly (from the Play Store) just to doublecheck for LTE in your area
Sent from my PG06100
When 4G lte came on in my area it was on for a couple of weeks then they shut it down for 4 or 5 days then it came on and it's been on for almost 3 months. Just fyi this might be what's going on.

I'm experiencing the similar issues, though I flashed over a ASOP Rom that has parts from cm10.1 though the Rom was ported from Verizon, but 4g worked perfectly fine, then when I flashed back to cm10 it stopped working. I'm debating on flashing back to that rom and see if it also does not have access to 4g at this time.
Edit/Update: I flashed back to my stock rom with root then flashed an updated MA6 Rom, updated the PRL, Profile and such, still no 4G. Decided that I'd mess with a few 4g settings, still problems. Then I flashed back to CM10 and my 4G works again.

I don't think the LTE Mode menu needs to be utlized but I did see some interesting settings in there.

Thats a bit of work, so this could possibly be some janky setting on my phone still huh?
EDIT: I dont have my stock rom backed up. Dont know what happened to it. Could you explain what exactly I need to do to achieve the results you have posted man?
Sorry for the late reply. It could possibly be a setting on your phone. I say make a backup of your rom, flash a stock based rom, kernel & firmware, if it's not ma6 find an update or one based on it. Update the prl and profile. See if you can get 4g working on tw, if not then either restore back to cm10 or try messing with the lte settings, their are some that allow you to enable or disable and such. I also do recall a setting for ehpd 4g or lte 4G. After messing with them try restoring back to cm10. If you take a picture of the lte menu I can look and tell you what settings I clicked.
Edit: Just looked at the link try the lte force cause I know I pushed that button as well as a few others.

Sorry for the late reply. It could possibly be a setting on your phone. I say make a backup of your rom, flash a stock based rom, kernel & firmware, if it's not ma6 find an update or one based on it. Update the prl and profile. I'm looking through the forums and so far the only stock with root only is what I linked above but those are mianly updates. One Possibility if its not a problem I'd sugged Unrooting with odin and flashing a stock rom, reroot then flash the update linked above, then just make a Backup Called Stock with root MA6 or something. I'll keep looking though.

Right before you posted your reply I had updated my post.
Update: I flashed back to my stock rom with root then flashed an updated MA6 Rom, updated the PRL, Profile and such, still no 4G. Decided that I'd mess with a few 4g settings, still problems. Then I flashed back to CM10 and my 4G works again.
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947
odex MA6, MA6 firmware and Stock MA6 kernel
and I accessed the LTE Mode Menu from the following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815580
I don't think the LTE Mode menu needs to be utlized but I did see some interesting settings in there.

I just had this issue after flashing that Rootbox ROM which was ported from Verizon. I performed the above steps and everything's working fine.
THANKS!
Ok, So I have an Epic 4g flashed to Cricket, I have made everything work(mms, test, talk, ect.) I have it on Android 4.1.2. My problem is I only get 3G and its not very dependable. I live in Phoenix, A.Z. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
Did you change anything with the phone recently? Did you recently move homes?

Look, I'm trying to assist you. If all you are going to do is plead for help over and over again without providing answers, then I cannot help you.
Have you done anything to the phone since you last had stable connections?

I think he's implying that that's how it's always been, or possibly that he has done all of this within the last few days. However long it's been, to me it doesn't sound like a recent issue that has cropped up.
Just my obversvation though. Unfortunately that's all the help I can offer heh

After that I instealed the Provision Rom
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2129233)
After that I flashed the Cricket mms fix found here
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649508&highlight=cricket+mms)
So I did not notice the 3g to 2g/1g switch because most of the time I am around wifi.. I have changed it since then or added anything.. I hope this is a better disription...

I don't use a MVNO, so I am not sure which regular troubleshooting steps would clear away your carrier settings. (I'm thinking using EFS Clear in Odin is the only concern, but that is sometimes needed for modem issues.)
Based off that rom's thread, you must be using the NS4G modem. Since your issue is with connectivity:
Perform a CWM backup of your current setup.
Flash an Epic modem rom and FC09 modem. (You can flash the modem using CWM. There's a thread in the dev forum w/ links.)
Try testing connection again.
I'd normally tell a Sprint Epic user to boot into FC09 multiboot and update profile & PRL, but I don't even think the PRL update would work for you. I'd then say, start from scratch by using Odin to flash FC09 with repartition checked. If they still had issues with connectivity, then I'd recommend using EFS clear in Odin when reflashing either just the FC09 modem or the entire FC09 tar.
Because you are on another carrier, I'm weary of suggesting you use Odin so quickly. If you haven't already, dive into your phone settings and document your carrier specific info you changed to get it working. This way, if you end up doing something that resets your original changes, then you can reconfigure it.
So give the suggestion that is listed above a try.
Since I'm very much a noob myself, I'm only tossing this out to possibly trigger an idea for someone else: Would perhaps the issue lie in the Build.prop or one of those similar files? I've poked around so many of them I can't remember which hold what tidbits of info... I know the Build.prop holds most of the primary carrier info, but I seem to recall another one that stored a bunch of info for a bunch of the other carriers (though that might have been for roaming and may not be of any help here).
*shrug* Otherwise, I's gots nothin' lol
