Hi Folks,
Have seen reviews recommending updating asap to 4.1 but how do you do it? i cant find Google maps in the market place..
Is there an option in the pre installed app to look for updates? Checked version info and it says 4.0
Cheers,
Mick
go to market, then downloads and see what updates are available
i'm on 4.1.1 (#4156) gmm-android-htc
its not in my downloaded list though as it was on the phone when i got it..
It was at the top of the popular free apps for me saying update available, along with the facebook app.
Easiest way is to search Google Inc on the market the inc makes all the diff, picking out googles specific applications first before broadening the terms.
Cheers,

You in Ireland or the UK?
I am in Ireland and I see no update to Maps available. And a search for google inc just show sup sky map. no maps. I think the Irish market app is different. (crap)
If you're in Ireland why don't you install the BRUT version? Gives you the same features and also Nav!

Will this work on the Desire? Also, as I understand the reason we don't have navigation in the UK version is because of some copyright/legal issues - If we install this will the Navigation actually work?
Thanks.

You have to install something else as well, but the speech doesn't work as yet on it. Didn't for me anyhow.
Make sure you have 2.1 Android otherwise Maps 4.1 won't work anyhow.
Doesn't matter now as it's out officially in version 4.1.1.
Hi guys, I am getting crazy trying to find the latest apk fot the Google Books app. Although is free in the market, is restricted to U.S only. Does anyone have it? Thanks a lot.

So I constantly get the "This item cannot be installed in your country" while I have Market Enabler 1.8.1 which worked like heaven like two months ago when I get my ex-SGS2 i9100 (now I have a Galaxy Nexus). I install AOKP Rom Build 33 (which has nothing to do with this issue) and got the new Google Play updated to 3.5.16.
Ok, I tried a couple of "solutions" located in various "This item cannot be installed in your country" posts and nothing, then I check in my list of devices in Google Play and see my Galaxy Nexus under ETECSA, my cuban carrier (yes, I live in Cuba) and were in that moment when I realize that the Market Enabler 1.8.1 is not doing its "job". I know 3.5.16 is the latest version of Google Play, so Market Enabler 1.8.1 must be obsolete or something.
So my question is: Is there any Market Enabler/Access-related application compatible with Google Play 3.5.16?
Best regards.
Have you tried to first install MarketEnabler, then clear Play Store cache, start MarketEnabler and select the carrier of your choice and then lastly launch Play Store?

Well, pardon me if I sound noobie, but in GPlay I can't see such thing as Play Store cache. I can only enter to Google Play Settings but there's nothing there cache-related.
Tell me, you have the same Google Play version as me? Which app you use? Market Enabler, MarketAccess or Market Unlocker? Works fine with Google Play 3.5.16?
Thank you.
EDIT: I just read that Play Store now also checks your IP and not just the SIM issuer code, so it doesn't seem to be any working app for this.

Hi Guys,
I'm new to all these.
I just got a China version of M9+ and unfortunately, it does not support anything that is related to Google.
Which means all my previous contact under Google account as well as Google Play cannot be access.
Is there anywhere to resolve this? Does it means I need to root?
Newbie here still trying to know what root is

I installed HTC social plugin from google play, unchecked everything except Linkedin and Facebook in Bliinkfeed content settings and now have an ordinary blinkfeed.
When you said ordinary, did you mean the international news is available?
I tried to install the plugin and found no luck. Any suggestions?
Yes international. Check the screenshot.
Hello,
I installed the HTC Social Plugin - Facebook, the only one closest to the name you specifies, and available on my google play. Then I unchecked everything except the facebook and LinkedIn services, but still I was not able to choose from different news source, but only 中国, without the pull down list as on ordinary blinkered.
Is there anything I missed?
Thanks a lot!

Couldn't find international source
I took a close look at your screenshot and found there were only feeds from Facebook and LinkedIn, but not any other news sources.
On my HTC M8, not China version, I can choose new sources from an exhaustive list of countries.
I guess it will still take root and custom ROMs for my M9+ to be able to access international news sources.

when I download the GMS core app from various links on google , during the initial run it tells me some google services need to be uninstalled specifically GOOGLE PLAY SERVICE UPDATER but it cannot be uninstalled no matter how many times the pop up tries to uninstall it
even from apps manager from setting I can stop it from running but am unable to uninstall it
can any one who has faced this issue help me out ?
thanks
Google play store was not visible on my AL00 at first. I went to app gallery and it had an option to update it.(not recommended ) it said. After I updated it showed up on the phone.
Just update it on the app gallery all Google stuff are built in you only have to download google calendar sync

I had faced the same problem
I had the same problem in my Huawei Mate 20 Chinese Phone. Solved it by changing the language to Chinese through App Gallery and thereafter searching for and installing Google Play. It really worked fine.

How were you able to do the search in the App Gallery if the language was Chinese?
mate 20x 8gb, 256gb evr-l00
I have the evr-l00...
followed this instruction, changed the app gallery to china (region), even if the whole thing is in chinese, type in "Google Play" in the search box on the top of the page, hit enter, and there came Google Play Store.
Installed it... removed most of the chinese apps, installed all useful google apps, and that's it, viola!
still working perfectly up to now.
my only gripe with the chinese version (when used elsewhere, except china)... is that u will not be able to fully configure the mobile data limits as the 'region' and 'network providers' are all in chinese, for China-based networks.
