onscreen navigation hides the last row of the keyboard partially. - Desire General

I flashed BCM RC4.1U2 last night after being on RC3.6U2 for many months... as with the last ROM, i find that the on screen navigation keys hide the last row of the keyboard partially. I feel that the hidden portion has increased in the latest ROM. My hardware keys are fairly unresponsive with both ROMs and was forced to use the ICS onscreen keys and in general i find the onscreen navigation keys easier on the fingers...
Can i move the keyboard up by a few pixels to solve this problem? Is there a patch or setting available that will do this... ??

Hi, don't know the answer but could you tell me how to enable the soft keys in ICS?

In BCM ICS Rom (now you find it as SpazeDog) you have to check software navigation bar in settings>display.
in others ICS ROM there are some mods that make the job .. you can find it searching "softkey" as keyword in their threads.

Same for me but alternate keyboard (swiftkey x) works fine for me

Hello,
My question might sound stupid but is there is any way to change the keyboard layout on the DZ depending on what keyboard is used, hardware or software when having swiftkey, Swype and the stock Android keyboard ?

[Q] About Softkeys

Brothers, this is the first post from me in xda, sorry for my bad english..
Alright,back to the question...
As you know i want to make my nexus become fullscreen display so i root and use the softkeys to replace the 3original softkeys..
However,I found that the LMT Launcher v1.2 is not good enough for me so i want to find another softkey to use.....but after finding,i find that there are only 2 choice i can choose..
1:LMT Launcher v1.2
2:Button Savior Pro
So i want to ask wether are there any other choice i can choose?
If any brothers know...please tell me!!!!
Especially i want the one as same as the i phone!
The iPhone doesn't have soft keys.

the navigation bar contains soft keys...
and to answer the question you can use miui rom to make it look like iphone a bit but none of the softkey hiding techniques i know are stable.
If your rooted and have a custom rom that supports removal of soft keys like aokp or some aosp roms Try black ice rom on rootzwiki if your looking for the gsm version there the soft keys are in the power menu and the toggle on and off in there too
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413582 you can change your soft keys to what ever you want. Even down to one and make it look like the iphone
Hope that is what you looking for and don't forget to hit thanks to all the people who helped you

You mean the capacitive buttons?
Figured all the mentions of soft keys was short for software keys. Which sorta makes sense.

Yeah, when he said soft keys, I thought of software keys, not capacitive buttons
Use aokp, it completely hides the bottom soft buttons so its total full screen. And it looks excellent.
hey brothers,,first of all..sorry,,may be i use the wrong word....
while my word 'soft key' is that the software keys....because i hide the original 3 keys and use some software to replace it...so i wanna to ask are there any other choices of software i can use to replace the function of "back home and search........
i want some apps~

[Q] Is there a way to disable the softkeys all together?

First off just a correction ...
softkeys are "Software Keys" so the "On Screen" keys are soft keys .....
As far as disabling the Hardware keys, there used to be an app that let you disable buttons, but not sure if it works on the sgs2 ....
I'll look around for one, thanks

I was wondering the same thing earlier... if your using nova launcher hold down on the home screen and select shortcuts then activities then select Galaxy sII settings. Then just dissable key backlight.
Hope that helps
Edit - after re-reading what you wrote I realized you meant how to completely dissable them. I'm not really sure how you would do that. Well, good luck

Navigation button solutions?

I'm looking for the best solution for navigation buttons, so that I can remove my navigation buttons from the bottom of the screen and regain that screen space. What is everyone using to replace the navigation buttons? I know there is LMT, with the pie interface, but I was wondering if there was a better option.
I was thinking, is there a way to use the same gesture to swipe from the bottom that is used for google now, is it possible to put custom actions buttons alongside google now in that area? I hadn't seen it on any roms yet, but wasn't for sure. It seems like that would be a perfect place to put home, back, and recent actions.
Lol if you didn't like the on screen buttons why did u get a galaxy nexus
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
Because its a great device. I have no problem with them, but if there's a better solution, it would be nice to use it.
Anyone have any useful contributions?
Lmt and button savior are the only options. I prefer lmt. We could write a new app to do what you want, but it would be a major project.
After trying both, I think I prefer LMT as well. Maybe in the future we will see a mod to the Google Now shortcut, similar to how custom lock screen targets are done now.
