I have a quastion to ask. Why in the sense roms the statusbar is fast and smooth while in roms such as cm7 based roms the sttatusbar is laggy. From my experience so far i havent found a 2.3 rom with a stable statusbar. Is there any solution for that?

I have cm7 and my statusbar is fast without lag (my wf is overclocked).
Sorry if my english is bad
I think that's because sense roms are 2.2 froyo, which is not as heavy as 2.3 GB. And you know our little willy has a poor processor and no GPU so of course it will be laggier on GB than Froyo

You are on LeWa OS and your status bar is laggy Hm mine isn't too - in fact I have the snappiest status bar ever with LeWa OS.
What have you running in the background? I would first check that as oc'in wouldn't help if your RAM is filled with tons of services...
The SD booster also doesn't heal performance problems (besides you have all apps on SD). It makes the R/W faster and the phone a bit more stable (if proper configured).

Now with Lewa OS i would say that is a bit better but it can not be compared with the status bars of sense roms! For example the status bar of froyo roms and even the KoolSense feel a lot smoother. Now i am overclocked and i think my ram isn't filled with background services. I have only the basics! Can you please tell me your settings you have in performance or in anywhere else related to status bar?

Ive never experienced any statusbar/notification lag on any rom ive used!! Ive seen others post this issue and it's always baffled me as to what they/you mean by lagging. Maybe my phone is just special lol. It could always depend on your launcher? I use adw ex on all roms including sense lol = no lagging ever.

I also use adw ex. I mean it is not smooth as in sense roms...For example if i listen to music on cm7 and then attempt to pull down the statusbar it laaags and it is not stable! Maybe the kernel i don't know!

As far as I know this has been mentioned before: Sense ROMs are on Froyo (if I'm not mistaken), GB is already a lot bigger. Regarding the "basics" - that depends also. Due to the fact that the Wildfire has no GPU, no powerful CPU and is also limited regarding space etc we are talking about a non-high-end device (friendly spoken) but Gingerbread is made for average devices. From my point of view you definitely can't have a satisfying experience without tweaking stuff (beginning with also thinking about basics lol).
Our settings might help you in some way - but they are not a universal solution to trim your phone to your liking. Furthermore the settings are pretty much independant - each and every little factor/setting has an influence to the other. Think, what you need and what you want to achieve, read a lot here in the forums and then you have to do some trial & error. It works that way. Some things working for one Wildfire don't for others.
BTW most of my settings are in my sig

Yup,it is mysteriously smoother than GB roms, not only status bar, everything is smoother in ICS.Its just the app launch which is laggy.

This looks interesting, though what exactly is different between this future ROM, and the rom for the Desire Z? It just seems like another Sense ROM to me.
Please don't take that the wrong way. It's great that you're porting different ROMs over to the G2! I'm just curious since I don't understand what sets it apart from a regular Sense ROM like Virtuous.

Acutally the port is 2.2 froyo and 2.0 sense.
The Gingerbread sense port is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11379272#post11379272
No developer as I know,is working on porting it to the G2 inwhich I'm also hoping for.

I'm running it right now, seems to be pretty smooth with decent battery life but issues with mms, screen randomly flashing and a couple other things are annoying.

Cimer said:
Well I don't like the UI changes that are going on, and I do not see some of my wish list features that kind of make sense.
Some UI changes that I do not like is the "3G+" Even though that used to be accurate I like my H and if Virtuous was going to decide to change the H icon the only icon I would not mind is a "4G" icon because that term is accurate now.
I don't like what they did with the personalized button, I liked the old way better it looked nicer and I find it to be useful because I like changing certain UI things up which Sense allows me to do.
Also Virtuous buddy does not seem to work as well as I would hope and I can not access the main settings part, which leaves me kind of frustrated because I would like to know if I could change what I did not like above.
What I would like to be changed is when you slide down the notifications bar I would like a power control rather than recent apps, I have a home screen for that and the app drawer can be just as quick.
I don't know if this last part is possible or not, but I would like more themes, or just a flat bar like slate with the HTC skin to it.
Click to collapse
There is a mod to make it a power contol, in the thread.
He said virtuous buddy is still beta.
If you don't like the personalize button.. flash the stock launcher.. yet again there is a mod for that in the thread.
The 3g+ icon is stock with the ROM. That's how HTC put it.
Make more themes since your so needy.
Conclusion: Read in the thread. Almost ALL that stuff you was complaining about besides the 3g+ icon is fixable, if you Read and stop complaining. Better yet don't flash the ROM. And I highly doubt RMK or HTC care about your wish list.

PERFECT!
The best rom i tried.
Either this Rom has exceptional battery life or the graphic in the status bar isn't showing the proper battery percent. It was at 78% when I took it off the charger 15 min ago and have been using it non stop for that 15 min and it still says 78%. Will continue using and see what happens. Anyone else notice? Other than that, this Rom is superb.

Been trying it for a couple of hours and liking it! Have been switching roms quite often but this is the best 'Sense'-rom for me so far.
Only 2 questions:
1. have setup my exchange-account and it shows my mail and contacts fine. However, it does not show the appointments of my Exchange-calendar, although I have been able to select the Exchange-calendar.
2. I am using the Mail-app and made a shortcut in the Launcher-Pro dock. In LP it's possible to show the dock-notifications for the number of mail only for Gmail. Is it possible to show the original Sense notification for missed/unread mails for the Mail-app. Don't know if it is described properly but in a Sense-rom it's the green circle with number of missed-mail

I recently just started doing a bit with my GN. I currently have rooted and installed Revolutions HD 2.1.2 and messed around with some soft key/notification bar mods, but my main goal is to make my phone look far from stock ICS.
-What can I do to gain larger icons, similar to that of the iPhone =/. I like many of the icon packs, but I would just like to be able to re-size them. Does this have to do specifically with the ROM, or with themes?
- Some examples I have seen have been on the Android Themes forums, and MIUI.
- Any help would be appreciated, I've been poking around searching google and the forum for a bit but I haven't seen questions like these answered clearly.

More times I think. Themes will pop up soon.
Once Cyanogenmod 9 comes out there are hundreds of CM themes that will make it look FAR from stock ICS.
Also you can try using an alternate launcher, like GoLauncher EX, ad using a theme for GoLauncher, like a HTC Sense theme
Check out all the GO Launcher Themes HERE for a bunch of ways to make it look not like stock ICS

Are you rooted? If yes, did you port stuff from your phone? This would create problems especially switching from another version of Android.
If you aren't, it could be stuff that you have installed also.
Just a guess.
Could you specify where you get lags? I didn't really notice any lags. There are slight delays sometime (for example when you open the clock (defaults to world time, which sucks)) but that's to be expected. Other than that it seems very smooth to me.
You can download Apex or Nova Launcher from Play store and you don't have to have root. I prefer Apex because it just fels more smooth and has more options. And who thinks that Sense is not lagging should give Apex a try and than compare yourself
By the way Sense gets disabled by itself if you set Apex as default launcher. That's a 100 MB pure win on RAM.
Just by scrolling between homescreens, i only have clock/weather widget and contacts widget and calendar widget + some icons on my homescreens. Sometimes it runs totally smooth, and sometimes it lags when scrolling to the next screen.

I have gone from 2.1 to 4.0, in between using all kinds of launcher.
It's true in the earlier version the difference can be quite obvious. But I don't think so for 4.0. Sense may be slower, may be not. It is no longer obvious.
But I don't use fancy background, just a static picture. And I always turn off animation.
The OP is talking about smoothness and not response which I agree that sometimes sense causes some delay. But that split ms is harmless to me. I am not going anywhere in that time span anyway. But for the OP to notice such a difference is abnormal.
Apex launcher made me love and buy the device again lol
Sense fan since the early days, but not 4.0 i don't like the taste or will tolerate the lagginess on a quad core hot chip

With all due respect how can you honestly be okay with a half-baked phone? I am a galaxy SII owner and I've had my HTC one X for one day. I love the phone but sense still appears to be more of a memory hog and hindrance than anything else.
I know lots of people who are happy with SGSII's because the software largely functions as its supposed too (I still put vanilla ROM on it because touchwhizz is ugly) but I am already experiencing my htc rebooting the launcher everytime I press home after opening a few apps.. I also noticed that something like 650mb of the 1gb ram is being used when I turn the phone on... Sense is seriously a memory hog. Multitasking doesn't appear to be functioning how I'm used to on the S2. HTC should make sure they iron out kinks like this before they rush to market, after-all their USP is the software...
Even before I received my HTC one X i was reading weekly about bugs and problems people were having with it, which unnerved me a bit.
Thing is, I actually like some elements of sense and it's a vast improvement from my desire but the fact is I can see sense really dragging the performance down over the life of the handset. Even if I use Apex launcher, sense's launcher still drains memory.. I'm removing sense asap

make sure you tick the correct settings. there is no lag with the H1X. Believe me, see my other posts if you need further instructions
Cheers
What do i have to do to make it not lag without rooting ?
AT&T V20F NitroTNT Version 2.2
Based on V20F from HO!NO! (Thanks for all your work) and added Wind Kernel 3.7 ICS.
Additional thanks goes to mattman86, lyfkevin & kronicskillz whose work is also in this.
I made this with the intention making it as close to what AT&T would have done (without the bloat), plus make general improvements to the entire stock experience. One of the things I wanted to address was what some people have referred to as "LAG". I think I have addressed this nicely as version 2 has no perceivable lag. I also wanted to start addressing some of the ugliness (thank you mpsantiago) by restyling the icons to something I find more appealing. I look forward to everyone's feedback.
Status Bar icon changes:
KronicUI Mod....thank you Kronicskillz.....
4G and 4G lte icons made smaller (stock ICS had them way too big)
If you prefer the original system bar icons and theme download the attachment below
In future versions I intend to work on the cosmetics of things like the dialer app.

Thank you, no real development here just lots of experimenting and tweaking. I started this little project because I was never 100% happy with any of the stock versions out there and so this is the end result. Great battery life sleeps very deeply averages about 3% in 10 hrs at idle plus I also tweaked the GPS config file to eliminate my lock issues.

To port just take the /system/etc/WiFi contents from an su640 stock ICS ROM along with the boot.img file from the su640 version of wind kernel v3.x and it should boot and run just fine on an su640.

Looks great! just had to tell u this is the exact setup (- your icon/ status bar work) that I have been using since hono's release; even down to the launcher, Google now, wind, etc etc. Great minds think alike eh? Pretty much as close as we can get to a stock lg jellybean rom. That being said I haven't flashed but can pretty safely assume nitrotnt is crazy fast, incredibly stable, and one of the best roms for battery life available. I'm working on a similar cm10.1 based version now until WiFi is fixed on the official jb leak.
Edit: what app do you recommend for overclocking? Specifically the GPU both 2/3d. Also settings like ksm, zram, schedulers etc for best performance? I like to play around to find the best setups for performance, gaming, battery life, heavy usage etc. Thanks again

In regards to an overclocking app I just use no frills as I have no desire to oc the GPU. With that being said you could probably use CPU tuner or something similar. Since it has wind kernel it shouldn't be a problem. In regard to other settings I use what lfkevin has recommended for the ICS version of wind kernel (intellidemand & row) even though for the cm10.1 version he recommends ondemand and cfq. What the differences are I don't know I am still a bit of a newbie. . In regards to zram. I remember HO!NO! a long time ago recommending to not change those settings, but that could have also been in regards to cm9. I hope this helps some. I really am not a developer I just can figure out how to tinker. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy this ROM.

i have a few comments... first of all nice work not bad at all.
2nd i noticed that it runs much smoother with apex launcher.
3rd fyi MHL is verified working on this rom. (due to based on stock nature)
4 is a request, is it possible to add circle with percentage battery icon and the blue data signal icon?, also is it possible to make bluetooth go grey instead of white when not in use, and make it slightly smaller?
not a huge deal but the white is a bit anoying, also would be nice to remove am/pm from status bar as it takes up room and almost nobody needs it
overall good work nice rom

Thank you for the comments. In regards to the launcher, the Optimus UI is just my personal preference but if you want to use Apex just freeze the Optimus launcher after you install Apex so it isn't using any system memory.
In regards to your request it would be as simple as replacing the systemui.apk from HO!NO!'s v20f since I used his ROM as a base for this. As far as the AM/PM that will require modifying XML files in the systemui.apk so that is going to take some more time to work through those. For the Bluetooth it would just be a simple PNG file swap, easy enough. So I will see about providing you a modified file for that. Who knows I even might like it better . Thank you again for the critique.

thanks man, one other thing i noticed is that poweramp is crashing, i haven't figured out if its rom related or not yet, if you feel like it you could install the poweramp trial and tell me if it crashes on your phone, thanks again.
i noticed the bluetooth thing right away cuz i leave mine perma on, since i use my bluetooth stereo in my car and i can't be bothered to turn it off and on every time, i also noticed that leaving it on doesn't consume much power (atleast i dont think it does).
---------- Post added at 09:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 AM ----------
just to clarify i want the blue icons from CM cuz i use an all blue theme, icons, background etc, that's why i like the blue data/wifi/battery icons, if it's too much work to change them all though, or if other people dont want it, just don't worry about it i dont want to be too much trouble.
is there a way for me to just mod them on mine? ive never looked into it.
edit ----> i isolated the crash problem i think, it's happening to anything that uses sdcard, so i think my card needs a format.
- update, i can play media files off my sdcard with es file explorer, but not any media player that uses the system media scanner
- update i think the is the fault of an app i used that was suposed to rescan media.
i tried a bunch nothing fixing it so i'm going to do a full wipe and try again, i'm liking this rom though it has potential if i get it all working.
i got the crashing issue after formatting sdcard and full wipe and reinstall, something is amiss in the rom i think.

so the fix for this is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39845686&highlight=poweramp#post39845686
i believe, i no longer have the rom installed but i'm assuming thats it in case anyone else needs it. it's a flashable zip that removes some of the tweaks he did that cause some apps to crash like poweramp
I will have some free time Sunday, I think and will look at incorporating these changes. Never noticed the power amp issue because I don't use but I will try to duplicate. I will also install the fix to make sure it doesn't create other issues before I roll it out in an update. Thanks again for your feedback. I have been using this ROM 100% since I rolled it out and just love it. Just to give you an idea I have never run with a ROM longer than 2 weeks before installing something different and I have had this phone for over a year.

if you read Ho No s thread he explains the problem, not sure if u have those files or not but yeah.
where did you get the keyboard from for this rom?
EDIT--> i've been trying to mod the SystemUI.apk for all blue icons and circle with percentage battery icon but i'm having problems signing the apk i have to reinstall jdk or something not sure, the error i'm getting on verify sig is a known bug when i searched it.
