Default email app signature - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all. Been lurking for a long time, but I can't find an answer to this question, so finally signed up to post. Sorry if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find it anywhere!
I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how to add anything besides plain text to the default email apps' signature option.
It lets me cut/paste into the signature box, but I can't edit the font size, color, or style. My email signature on my work desktop complies with a company-mandated form, and I'd like to use the same on my SIII so people can't tell where I'm emailing from! I've tried everything I can think of and can't figure out how to do this. Willing to use a third-party app (even if it's not free) if it comes highly recommended. Thanks!

Did you ever find an answer for this? I'm trying to do the same thing.

Still no answer on this I guess..? Seems like a pretty common thing to want to add a logo or some formatting to the email signature...

Hi!
AOSP Email client (as included in CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, OmniROM, and all other AOSP/CM-based ROMs) cannot sent emails in HTML. It can receive and display HTML emails, but cannot sent HTML-formatted ones. As such, you would not be able to add font style or add a logo to your signature.
Samsung's email app (included in Samsung's stock ROM and some other stock-based ROMs), though, is HTML-sending capable, and you might be able to add some formating to your signature. I remember when using Samsung stock ROM I was able to put my name in bold, add color to my company's name and play with font size directly in the signature preference.

[APP] Updated 6 June, 2011, improved Email.apk (Gingerbread)

What is it? Originally this was a direct extract of the Email.apk from Nexus One 2.3.4; but the most recent update uses a bug-fixed version extracted from CM7. Primarily because the text prediction bar works in this Email app; while it seems to be missing from all the SGS Gingerbread Email.apks.
Update November 3: I have been using CM7 and don't see myself switching back... CM rocks!!
Update June 6: New version extracted from CM7 nightly that appears to really fix the problem where Exchange email accounts stop syncing, requiring a reboot of the phone. I've been using this build 4 days without sync problem. Relevant threads HERE and HERE
As far as I know this will only work on a Gingerbread ROM. Install via CWM. The installer will attempt to ERASE your emails and email account settings from your phone. This keeps the system from getting all goofed up due to database incompatibilities between Email.apks (Thanks nitr8 and styxx!)
I tested this under Juwe's ROM v4.2 and under Darkys 10.1 against my office Exchange server. It seems to work great.
I am not a developer by any means. What I've posted here is something hacked together out of nothing more than dumb luck. (Really, all I did was extract the APK from the CM7 nightly and modify the menu xml files to link to APK internal PNG images rather than linking to the phone framework PNGs. No actual program code changes were made by me.) If it bricks your phone and your hair falls out... sorry, but don't come crying to me. You have been warned! If this app doesn't work for you, please post anyway so I can laugh at you... Errr... I mean, so I can try to help you.
May 8th update: Some of the menu icons were not showing up properly. Spent some time with APK Manager and figured out how to add in the missing icons.
looks fun
ive tried this and it looks good and works well. The major issue for me as with all the older email apps is there is no "Move to folder" option..... which absolutely drives me nuts. I had it until I tried using the TAB email app, then tried going back but keep getting this same apk and am missing this option. Its a real pain!
Funny, I didn't even notice the "Move to Folder" option was absent!
For me the text prediction was a huge issue, and it was really my only motivator for trying it out. I'm very happy with how quick and responsive this app is. With the stock app I would get lag at different times, especially noticeable when deleting multiple messages. This Nexus version seems to delete them instantly. I also really like having the check-mark boxes present on the message list.
I haven't tried the TAB email app, are you saying the move-to-folder option is missing from the TAB version as well? Have you tried the SGSII Email app from this thread?
good plan
the option was there in the tab email app and also in the newer one of the galaxy but I cant find the apk for that! that'll teach me to back them up! I'll have a look at that thread anyway and see where it leads. Thanks for your work and your assistance.
post a couple of screenshots please: ) otherwise thanks!
Thanks works great
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
THANK YOU. Samsung email client is sub-optimal. I feel like I can breath again. No more staring at the screen waiting to read an email.
Thanks for sharing !
Anyway, Landscape mode (as with Samsumg one) doesn't work with this Email.apk ... So I'll stay with my K9-mail app.

I use K9 for my personal email account, and the Nexus app for my work email account... and I don't see a difference in the way they handle landscape mode... so just curious, what am I missing?

It doesn't look significantly different. There are check boxes along the left edge of the message list view so you can quickly select multiple messages for deletion, otherwise it looks pretty much the same. The big difference is in how much more responsive it is over the Samsung client, and the fact that the keyboard text prediction bar works when using this email client.

There was a misunderstanding : Samsung app has a different landscape mode.
quick noob question. do i have to wipe anything before flashing this? I'm guessing no but want to be sure.
You need to flash the ZIP via from ClockworkManager, and it will attempt to wipe your email accounts to prevent force close issues due to email database differences between the Email.apk versions.
Does the number of unread emails appear in the icon?

Thanks for posting this! I was killing myself trying to figure out why autocorrection and word prediction wasn't working on my gb rom. I installed it on my captivate running a gb rom (Serendipity VII). It works very nicely for me.
New version _actually_ seems to fix Exchange sync problem.
Thanks for the update. I had trouble getting it to connect over a good 3g signal, but it did so when I enabled wireless for the first sync. I hadn't noticed the synching problem but might not have used it long enough to see the problem. All seems to be working. This app is much nicer than the stock samsung email client in virtually every way. It is much more polished and easier to use. It would be nice if it didn't clear settings when updating over itself, but that is not a big deal.
It's a bit confusing in this thread, but I take it that this apk also lacks Move To Folder? That's a seriously useful feature and it might drive me back to stock on my Incredible just to get it back. Then, of course, I lost the ability to create private appointments in the calendar! Whee. Have you found a version yet that has this feature?

[Q] Change SMS color

Does anyone know how, or if it's even possible, to change the sms bubble color? They picked some of the worst colors for stock. Also, I am rooted. And yes I tried the search function first, but it is down at the moment so please don't flame me.
Download alternative sms app from the market or else you will have to theme it by yourself.
My favorite sms app is Go dev sms app. Go check it out.
I've tried some other sms apps but I actually like the stock one. I guess I'll have to do some research, but is it very hard to theme it on your own?

Don't worry mate, you posted in the right section and this is a rarely covered topic (in fact its one I battled with back on the Epic 4G). To answer your question, yes and no. Having never delved into the TW Messaging app I have no idea if you'd simply have to create and replace an image file or if we're talking massive edits. My advice would be to get a program like WinZip or 7zip and open the messaging apk with it. Look around for the images related to the bubbles and see if replacing them works.

Stock email app -- Gmail archive feature

I would like to use the stock email app to manage all of my email accounts including my personal Gmail. Is there a way to ARCHIVE a message in the stock app? Coming from an Iphone.. this used to work just fine.
Thanks!

I use the Gmail app and also cannot figure out how to archive vs. just trashing. Anyone??
The latest version of gmail 4.2 has an option for swype message which states archive or delete but when I swype a message it always deletes it. There are no other options that I can find unless you set this on via the web browser. Point is that the option is there so perhaps we may see another option or a popup for the swype action in future builds.
However, also in the 4.2 app if you select a message with the little checkbox you get a file-cabinet icon popup at the bottom of the screen - Archive! Not sure if this exists in the older version as no longer have it on my phone.

Thanks for the info.
Not sure if this is how it's SUPPOSED to be done, but....if I remove the INBOX label from the mail, it disappears from the inbox, and magically goes to ALL MAIL, and at the bottom of the screen reads "1 archived." Only took me four hours to figure that out! I'm sure there must be a tutorial somewhere...I went onto the Google Help site, and there was no reference to this at all. Maybe I'm just a little too picky.
How do I update to GMail 4.2 and/or find out which version is on my S3? As you can tell, I'm new to Android.
In all honesty I am not overly familiar with gmail as have other accounts that I use, I also did not realise that a message without a lable is an archived one!
For 4.2 follow the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933273&highlight=gmail+4+2
I would use the .apk to install it as you are new to android. Take a read through the thread to make sure you understand everything but it is pretty simple.

[Q] Gmail app - how to get rid of conversation view?

Like the title asks, does anyone know how to get the stock Gmail App to show messages in the single message view style?
I searched and found how to do this for the Gmail web login (which i never use), but the change in settings unfortunately doesn't transfer through....I tried another client that offered this but didn't like the app as a whole.
I don't think it's possible yet. I know many, many people have requested this feature, so hopefully Google will listen and implement this in a future release.
Thanks for the reply, I really hope they implement this feature. I don't understand why Google wouldn't enable this as its available through the web client...coming from a BB I am very used to the single view style for inbox/sent messages. I am always lost when it comes to locating and forwarding messages especially with the "show quoted text".
Well its Christmas soon, I know what I'll be wishing for.

[Q] how to display text in google calender

I had my calender set up to display events in text for the monthly view (instead of just showing color code). Lost it when i flashed new rom. I have searched like crazy and can't find how I did it. Don't remember but I think it might have been a download that modified it. Anybody able to help?
Try either one of these. The top one is an updated one, but i never had much luck with it.
