Unable to Root Arc S LT18 which is on 4.0.2.A.0.62 or 4.0.2.B.0.62 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA.
I am a grt fan of the forum first of all thanks to all who contributed here.
I had a Sony Ericsson W8 E16i, its was a piece of Gem with the nAa CM9 ICS on it thanks to all the guides, Kernels, ROMs and Mods that made my phone smooth and Agile.
Now i have my new Xperia Arc S LT18i which is SIM unlocked and i have just unlocked the boot loader. Now i want to root my phone. I have searched all the threads about rooting, which were mostly of Easyroot Kit, Doom lord's Method of Rooting. I have tried almost all the methods, but i am still unable to root my phone. In one of the threads it was advised to downgrade from 4.0.2.B.0.62 to 4.0.2.A.0.62 via flashing it with flash tool. I did it and tried to root, still no luck. Can any body please help me rooting my device?
Current settings on my phone.
Android 2.3.4
Build No - 4.0.2.A.0.62

There is no such firmware as 4.0.2.B.0.62. It doesn't exist at all.
You have to downgrade from 4.0.2.A.0.62 to 4.0.2.A.0.58 or older(.58 or smaller).
Also, if you have unlocked bootloader, you can just install custom kernel, which already includes autoroot, so if you install that kernel, ROM automatically gets rooted.

FIrst of all, you cannot root .62 in any way or the other........you need to downgrade it to .42 first...this your normal procedure would have been
Searching for following
1)how to downgrade from .62 to .42
2)how to root .42
But you have the greatest advantage of an unlocked boot loader hence, you can directly flash a compatible kernel (e.g doom kernel v19) and then flash a rom.....thus you have a custom kernel that supports overclocking and also a superb rom(e.g acronium 8.2) along with extremely battery efficient system andof course root....

can you screenshot the Firmware?

Installing custom kernel, which has autoroot in it, gives you root access on any ROM version.

Fast Xperia Arc Kernel

Hi All,
I have a rooted ICS Arc (4.1.B.0.431) with a locked bootloader. What is a good, fast kernel for it ? Thanks in advance.
Call me silly, but you the entire benefit of unlocking your bootloader is the ability to flash custom kernels. Therefore...locked bootloader means no custom kernel.
I'm no guru....so please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong here...

first U Update your Phone to Fw.587 ,
then talk about Kernels

I downgraded and upgraded kernel alone to achieve root for ICS...

I am unable to update to FW.587 OTA. The update center downloads the update and fails to update upon reboot (get an error here). I suppose my only option due to this is to flash the official .587 kernel. If I need to flash a kernel, why not a 'better' kernel ?
Then U Flash A FTF ,
Because For ME OTA Sucks !
Don't upgrade to .587. Lags too much, I went back to .431.
Kernel-wise, unlock your bootloader then try ArcKnight 3.5.1 or SEGA Kernel V3 Army edition.

you need a 'ready to root' ftf to flash onto your phone before you can root it.
here's one for arc s
after flashing, put your phone in debugging mode and connect your phone to pc and run the 'RunMe.bat' file from this (extract first)
Shall give it a go and post results.

"Always working" method is flash 6.1.A.2.50 with Flashtool (without wiping anything, except if you wish) and root with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Rooting itself is done in 5 minutes. Flashing? Also 5 mins.
6.1.A.2.55 firmware is not rootable, you can just flash prerooted .55 rom in CWM, but for that you still need rooted .50.

It's obvious what you want to do, the point is there are lots of threads on the subject which you could have asked your question on. YOU ARE NOT THE FIRST TO WANT TO ROOT!
The basics
Put superuser.zip in sdcard from their site, same name
Testpoint
Get flashtool
Downoad a kernel with cwm
Hotboot kernel with flashtool in fastboot menu.
When phone restarts press volume down on blue led
Install the zip in sdcard
Reboot

Thats strange..
You are in a Ported JB rom in ur Xperia U.. without a custom kernel you cant flash JB in XU... So probably u should installed a custom kernel... Right ? So u should hav root too....
Try Experimental kernel v 11.c for xperia U JB from Android Development thread of XU

umm...not really..flashing a kernel has nothing to do with root...you need an unlocked bootloader...not root...i am sure there are root methods available for lower versions of your device...one thing u can do....flash an old kernel for which root method is available(eg : ICS or GB) then after root flash back the JB kernel(stock or custom),upto you/..

Ha ? Custom kernels have auto root and cwm /twrp included my friend.. And the one he telling that experimental kernel for XU JB is already have Autoroot and Cwm recovery...
Did u read his question clearly? According to his comment he is already on JB on XU.. There is no way to install JB on a locked bootloader in XU.. So probably he is in a Unlocked Bootloader and sure with a custom kernel too.. Thats y i told him to flash Experimental kernel v11.c.. Got it?

Custom kernels dont have auto-root and CWM/TWRP always(it all depends on the dev who is packing it). and there is nothing called a pre-rooted kernel. You dont root your kernel buddy, you root your ROM. Pre-rooted kernels(usually bundled alone) have a script packed with its ramdisk that roots the ROM you are running. Same goes for recovery. I can show you plenty of kernels which has all the features of Overclocking,I/O schedulers, governors etc without CWM but you need a rooted ROM . So a developer who is providing an entire ROM usually pre-roots the ROM and provides a custom kernel(usually no pre-root feature but in insecure mode). while someone who provides only a kernel to work with other roms provides a pre-rooted kernel. And even i said the same thing. I said you dont need root to flash a kernel. You need an unlocked bootloader(that also depends, There are ROMS and kernels which don't need unlocked B/L)
Yes what you mean is correct. The ROM he has installed should have root access( I mistook it for official JB firmware)
@Dark Wraith better we can leave this discussion here.. Because we both are arguing.. But where is the OP ? So its just a time waste for both of us...
And i know custom kernels should need an unlocked bootloader....
