I know that this thread is old,but just in case ju stila have to fix this problem,i found solution, this is caused by phone harware is heating and cooling.
If you somehow can disasemble phone all you need to do is pull out camera module, clean all contacts with alcohol, and put all back in,if this dont fix your problem than some part of phone hardware is damaged and must be replaced :crying:
If you cant disasemble phone just pres hard around camera on back of the phone, and try to launch, its 90% a bad contactbetwen metals that is causing that problem.
Hit Thanks :good: if i helped
Cheers

Hi all, I've got my Arc for two weeks, it seems that sometimes the camera is not available when I launch the application. It always happen when the accelerometer doesn't work. It works fine again when I reboot the phone.
Anyone else got this issue? Do I have to repair via SEUS or there is another way around?
Thanks

Nope, I used the camera many times and not even once I saw this issue. It's best to do a repair firmware to rule out that it's not a software issue. Once done and you are facing the problem, then it could be the hardware faulty and you need to bring the phone to service centre for repair.

I am having exactly the same issue. Had phone 2 days now and many unstable aspects from day 1 and ongoing.
Camera is sometimes 'not available' - interestingly at the same time other things don't work such as the accelerometer.
Phone reboots randomly by itself including during phone calls.
Items downloaded from market disappear .
I am returning it and hoping for a replacement as I do not want a 'repaired' phone after paying so much.
Also should note I have made no changes to the phone at all - this is 'as delivered'
I had this happen a couple of times. When it does I just go to the app manager and force stop the camera app. It should work again after that.
Never had the problem with camera not being available... although most times my photos dont work... its like a black broken image icon that shows instead...

Thanks - Your problem must be different, as this solution does not work for me.The app manager does not show the camera as running, so no force close option is available.
Only way to get the camera to function when the phone is in this 'camera not available' mode is to reboot. Every time the camera is not available the accelerometer stops working as well - again a reboot is required to fix this
^ Yes it is, reboot solved it. But I'm curious, is it a bug or a fail hardware?
I have the same problem. The camera app fails to launch. I long press camera button and get the haptic feedback but nothing happens.
for me it's just the shutter button
never had this problem
but my camera doesn't activate when i press the shutter.
any ideas?
ps: i have vignette demo and fxcamera installed
pps: the arc camera is brilliantly EXCELLENT (coming from a G1)
ppps: the shutter button is terribly stiff
had the same problem but SEUS fix it for me by reflashing the firmware.
The phone should be awake when you press on camera button inorder the camera app to launch

Camera stays on after been used, i think its not possible to quit it with adv task killer, so i downloaded app "fast reboot pro" so test it when u get it back, and it also works with apps, i have seen that issue few times, just click to reboot and it will be good.
just a thought or two..
have you try resetting or calibrating those sensor?
or do you have any app that totally disabled rotation (not just simple rotate toogle)?
Anyone found the answer to this problem? Really annoying
Hello
I send my One X to repair a month ago and they send me a new one .
Everything was working fine and now my camera dosent work
I´m not sure why. It felt down today and maybe because that.
It´s not software related. I was on an Sense 5 ROM and i formatted all and flashed a CM ROM to look if its software related.
If I press harder on the back I get it a little bit working.
So it was working for a few seconds, but after that it dosent work.
Are there any other solution beside to send it back ?
I dont want to wait so long again
Edit:
Okay pressed hard on every position from the phone and now it works
violence is not a solution? Pffff
When I got the same problem again I send it to repair.
The camera app freeses and stop to working or things like that happens.
Only a black screen will shown
It's definitely a hardware issue man, better send it for repair before they put the blame on you!

I rebooted my phone but the camera is working
I think that its in hardware failure.
because after flashing aosp ROM the camera won't work.
first since I pressed hard on the place under the front camera it works.
now if I dont throw it or press hard on the back or something, it works

Hi guys, last week a friend of mine dropped my phone onto the ground. Some hours later i discovered that both the camera's didnt work, popping a message.I tried clearing the camera cache, but nothing happened.Later on even the torch and the notification led didnt work properly, and now i dont have idea on what i have to do.Could it be a software problem? I'm actually running ResurrectionRemix 7.1,is it worth trying to rollback to stock? I already opened the phone and checked all the connectors, and it doesnt seem that they were disconnected or anything.(at least the front camera and the back one)
Any advices?

Rolling back to stock would be my first advice , hairline fractures in PCB/circuitry wont be picked up by human eye.

If it got dropped then stopped working, that pretty much indicates a hardware problem.

For a few months ago, my M30's front camera doesn't work. Sometimes the rear camera works but when I switch to front, the app freezes and then I've got to close it. I tested front camera by dialling *#0*# but it says FAILED!!
Any solution anyone?

I checked just now, it works fine. I tried various angles. Everything works fine. As I asked, it may be due to some hardware trouble or something triggering it.

I read on Samsung Community that a user with the same camera error had to go to service center and had the motherboard changed. I believe it IS a hardware issue

Yup, does sound like hardware issue. Just FYI, Samsung current charges are exorbitant, and they in some countries FORMAT whole data even for smallest of things, irrespective of hardware or software issues (f***ing idiots). So, please beware of the 2 points.
