GTalk doesn't work on 4G?

Hey all.
Running virus ROM for a while now. Never really use 4g as I'm always in a WiFi area. I turned on 4g and noticed I lose connection and can't connect unless I disable 4g.
Is this normal or possibly Rom related ?

[Q] Why doesn't my Wifi Tether app work?

So the first rom I put on my phone after i rooted it the really hard way with the cmd prompt was the teamfenix1.7 rom. With that rom my wifi tether app worked but now that I have CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA it doesn't work...neither does my wifi. How do I fix it? Is it fixable? Barnacle Wifi doesn't work either!! Please help me!

It's not like we HAVE to help you, you know.
Did you wipe when switching roms? Have you tried wiping and reflashing?

You flashed the ota kernel and it doesn't have tether support..

Well miguel I thought any expert dev/modder such as yourself or rayray or whatever y'all call yourselfs could easily answer what I consider to be an easy quick fix. Yes I have wiped and reflashed about 4 different froyo roms and anytime I use the wifi tether app, my phone freezes and then reboots...but only with that app. Oh and I saw something about barnacle wifi and tried that...but my laptop doesn't pick up the signal. Would flashing the latest radio do anything? Hey rayray what do you mean by the base rom?

Which version are you using? 2.0.2 or 2.0.5 pre 13?

I'm actually using 1.35 something like that...I found it in the rom bible. Apparently it isn't the latest version haha. Can you post a link to where the latest one is? Plz? I would greatly appreciate it!

The latest version of CR_MOD is 1.35something. It's the latest firmware version (official) for the slide. That's where the number comes from. If you're looking for the latest tethering app I'll post it. As far as the radio, it's in my signiture and CR_MOD has it set to flash when you load the rom.

Wifi connects green and works until I slide open keys.

Hey.. so like the topic says the wifi connects perfectly and works great until I slide the keyboard out. The status bar shows green and says wifi is still connected but I can't surf any pages or anything to do with data.
Has anyone run into this problem? And if so, is there a way to fix this?
I am running cyanogenmod 7.0.3 with the latest radio.

Hate to say dude but that is one of the few disadvantages to custom roms! But what I did was just flash a different rom (chacha slide or something) and then flash BACK to Cm7! And my wifi works wonderfully ^_^

4G force app

Icant seem to find a way to force my g2 to stay in "4g"
Ihave full conection it just keeps bouncing back and fourth
Between 3g and 4g .. any help?

I dont know but all the roms do that and it does that to save battery, if it stays in 3G it means its just saving battery but when you go to an app that requires the web it goes to 4G for fasters speed.
So basicly devs made it like that to make your phone save battery.
My guess, dont quote me on that.

It switches whilst iam using the browser
And ialways get page load fails
Its switching as itype this
And when iuse my tether it still switches ..its rather annoying

What I did was download the app any cut and make a shortcut to the phone info setting. Once in there just switch from wcdma perferred to wcdma only and that should do it

That happened fo me too. But I was getting the speed without the icon...it was only when it switchdd that it would f up. I just switchdd radios and downloaded the 4g app pack and it helpdd but didnt fix (only happendd with a couple roms) and on other roms it will say 4g but its a 3g speed...and that ciuld just be the nature of the beast...

Can't believe no one else in the know has commented on this. You c ant force it. PERIOD. That is not how hspa works. The phone plays a small part in the switch but MOST of it is up to the towers discretion. The tower switches you to hspa when the data throughput warrants it. This is a fact not just some crackpot theory. Save your time!

I have a question, if i were to get a new phone and put the sim from my mt3g in it, can i use the first device as like, a web browser, thru wifi, and other stuff? If so is there any special modifications i need to make? Can anyone help thanks!

Just seconding, yes. Data is optional and wifi works without a data plan or provider period.
