There was a thread similar to this when we were combined, but now we can't post there. There are still questions to be answered and tips to share. I will work on gathering the info from the other thread and compile it here. But this is just a start.
I will begin with a question.
Anyone able to find the location for the text in this wifi connected popup?

Sticky Request!!!
I'd do it, but I'm not a forum mod for the SGS 3

I've decompiled my SystemUI.apk, replaced all of the tw_quick_panel_icon_* files in drawable-xhdpi and recompiled fine -- but the changes aren't showing on the device. I changed the icon colors from green to blue, yet they're always green. I even re-pulled the modified SystemUI.apk, decompiled, and verified that the images are in fact blue.
I'm obviously doing something wrong.. but what? I've changed icons in the status bar with no problem, but this quick panel is kicking my butt!

The quickpanel icons are found in drawable-sw360dp-xhdpi. Change those and you should see results.

i guess you're referring to the text at the bottom. i think it's going to be in framework, and not SysUI. i haven't tried looking for it yet. maybe colors.xml?

i have a question. i've been stumped on this for a while. i'm looking to change the color of the date in our extended statusbar. it's not being controlled by the line found in tw_status_bar_expanded.xml. Shane suggested to me that it might be in colors.xml in framework-res but it doesn't appear to be here, either.
here's what i'm referring to circled in red. pretty sure i've figured out how to make the date appear as, in this case, Aug 1, 2012. just no clue on changing the color

i was thinking this as well haha so i went poking around in there looking for a color string and still couldn't find anything. it is driving me nuts, esp since i've been able to do so much on my own. it's just the one thing i can't seem to find. i have some time on my hands so i might go through the smali file line by line basically just to double check that i'm not missing something.
edit: also, NunHugger, would you mind asking a mod to merge this with the main theme question/info thread? thank you!
edit: the smali color code for the white would be 0xffffff and i'm not seeing it anywhere

But hard at all. However the stock feel is just that...stock. The easiest way would be to pull the battery images from the the original zip. However, you will only want to add the images that are in the stock feel zip....hopefully that makes sense.

It takes a very good translator to get that but I did it!
I extracted both tribune and tribe father systemUI apk..decompiled them.. Exchanged all the battery png..
Recompile, then I overwrite the systemUI in my phone.... Yes it frozed and I had to reboot... But it worked perfectly!
Now I have triune father with only the battery bar

There is a great tutorial in the android section under themes. The font color requires an xml edit tat would probably change more than what you want and cause other text to be difficult to or impossible to read without other modifications that i don't know how to do.

couldn't the problem be solved if you use the full system UI zip of the korean version as a reference?
oh, and i just realized, that there is a whole button dedicated to voice mail itself!! lol
also, i think i edited my last reply too late and think you didn't see me asking if you were going edit this more?
hey, i just realized there is a small bug when recieving calls.
the pulling menu images doesn't have any colors, and the words are cut off.
I think Im going to be done with this for now. But you should pick it up and port the whole theme. Would be a great start in learning how to theme. Pm me if you have any theming questions and ill help you out where i can.

but who uses dialer horizontally anyway?..... right?
maybe i'll try to fix it when i get better at theming...

I noticed there was a lack of patches that black out the menus for 4.2 because google switched from png to xml files for the menu backgrounds so I made a patch that patches the xml in framework-res. This is universal and should work in any 4.2/4.2.1 and any future version. Just install metamorph or zipthemer and apply the theme.

Updated the mod so that its actually completely black. I had to switch the background object from a gradient to a solid in the xml as the gradient setting actually used a really dark grey even though I set it to black.

Awesome! Thanks for this - it bugged me so much in 4.2 that here i was decompiling framework-res and editing the .xml - 'cause i didn't know that Zipthemer could replace .xml files - i thought it only did graphics!

Yeah the secret is to decompile and then make your changes and then recompile. Then use 7-zip to take the compiled xml file out of the new apk. You can then put that into a zipthemer/metamorph file.

Oh ya. Perfectly. Thanks again. Love it. I run mmuzzy and it is stock hence no theme chooser. So this is the next best thing to customize the appearance of the ui. I use icons from the deviant art sight, battery and soft key mods and this. It works out well. And oh ya the zooper widget from market. Pretty cool customizable widget. Lock screen compatible.

Yup, No problem. I like simple mods like this and things that don't change the ui too much. I personally run cm10 jellybro at the moment. I just feel that too many themechooser themes go overboard and add a million custom icons that a lot of the times look crappy.
I'd like to apply the Blue Circle Battery Mod that's linked in the Frosty Jelly Bean ROM thread to Wicked 9
Link is here... http://sourceforge.net/projects/d2tmo/files/Themes/?
Before you say "Wicked 9 already has the Circle Battery mod as part of the installer", a lot of the icons are different in the Wicked set, and are white instead of blue.
Currently, when applied, it works great for the most part. The toggles go to Holo blue, the status bar icons all change to Holo blue, the only thing that gets nuked by it is the centered clock. The stock clock gets applied with no ability to remove the large AM/PM, or to center it.
Is there any way to easily tweak that Circle Battery Mod to not touch the clock mods that come along with Wicked, but still apply the changes to the toggles and status bar icons?
You'll have to pull the systemui.apk from the both roms, and pull the battery images out of the frosty one and drop them into the wicked one. Then push it back to your system/app directory

Thanks. That part I understand, the general steps. I've been looking in SystemUI and can't seem to find the icons.
Once I find the locations of the icons (proving to be the hard part), swapping them is the easy part. Once they are swapped, can I just rezip the ROM with 7zip or does it need to be zipped in a different way that recompiles it?

Great, I'll just keep looking in all of those folders till I come across them. If you do come across the locations, feel free to let me know, in the meantime, I'll be rummaging thru them. Thanks again.
I found the blue circle battery icons for the circle battery mod flashable for frosty...
SystemUI\res\drawable-xhdpi\
So, in theory, I should be able to find the same folder in the Wicked 9 zip, and replace like-filenames with the graphics I want.
Then I 7zip SystemUI.apk back up, then 7zip the whole ROM up again? Is that right? Seems too easy to me.
I might also check in in the Wicked thread in case there's anything else I need to be aware of, seeing as it has an Aroma installer with multiple themes.

If you want to use the at&t themed icons in your own mod, rom etc, please feel free to do so.
good job bro..keep it up :good:
These are awesome. But is there any way these could be combined with a battery pct mod, flashing this overwrites any battery pct mid, and vice versa. Tried to combine them on my own but couldn't figure out how.

That can be done. I have work in a few minutes but I can definitely try and make one with battery % later on today when I get back home, or someone else can do it lol but it can definitely be done.

Done!
Credits to he_stheone64 for the blue themed 1% Battery mod.
Here it is guys: AT&T Orange and Cyan Icons with battery percentage.
Sorry I can't test it since I don't have my device yet, but since my previous zip was flashed without problems then I don't see why this new one should.
Let me know if it works

You're welcome buddy
These work awesome, but one thing I've found, is that on the 10 intervals, 100,90,80,70 etc, the blueness of the battery disappears, and a full green battery shows. I'm at 63, at 60 I'll screenshot it.
Here's 20%

My bad lol. I should've looked at the icons carefully before slapping them in the apk in a rush XD.
I will provide a fix later when I come home from work, so please bear with me for a bit more, and thank you for your patience.
Have you have a chance to work on a fix for these yet?

My bad, lol, I had already posted them on the AT&T forum, but I'd gladly post them here as well
Apparently the inandout icons were left on a static ripple animation (that was my fault, sorry ) but I've fixed the files and fixed the battery icons from changing to green at 10% intervals.
There are 2 flashable zips. Regular and Centered.
Have fun guys Any input is more than welcomed.

Hi guys. I just posted this icon pack on the AT&T HTC One forum but figured some of you guys here might be interested as well.
I don't have my device yet (hope to get it soon) but I went ahead and made themed icons anyways lol
Please backup your system before flashing through recovery.
I'm posting 2 pics of what they look like (2nd pic is highlighted to see a bit more background detail):
Have fun guys and thanks to all you devs out there for making things happen like magic.
You guys can use these icons as you wish.

It should be safe, but just to make sure, do a backup of your system or at the very least have a backup of your SystemUI.apk file I really don't think there will be a problem, but you know, to make sure.
Damn I really wanted these but they over wrote my extened settings on trick droid....maybe I can figure out a way to add these to trickdroids Rom...

Sorry lunercrab, work was ridiculous yesterday lol Finally got a chance to edit your SystemUI.apk.
Have fun Let me know if there's any issues.
I thought i would post this for everyone, even if it isnt a massive deal and probably not something most need... We were all noobs once, so if it helps someone get their phone a little closer to what they want... Or if it helps get someone into making a theme... Then i cant say having this up is a bad thing at all...
So its a simple MOD that will allow you to add your own holo dark images to any ROM... Yes, this will even work for those of you running a theme... Where you maybe don't like the holo dark image(s) used...
Simple instructions for a simple MOD...
- Download "MyBackground.zip" from here and save it to your computer!
- Download the "HoloImages.zip" from here and save it to your computer...
- Drag and drop the two images from "HoloImages.zip" onto your desktop and edit them however you like! (Id stay at 720x1280 or stock 500x500)
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Now open each Image and edit as you wish! I would recommend a simple program like GIMP or Paint.net to edit .png files...
- Once you have your image(s) just right, save them...
- Now open "MyBackground.zip" with 7-zip or WinRAR (WinfRAR seems to work better for VRtheme stuff)
- Go into:
Code:
vrtheme -> system -> framework -> framework-res.apk -> res -> drawable-nodpi
- Add your new images (it will override the current images)
- Once added, save "MyBackground.zip".... "As"... That means change the name of the zip and save it as a new file...
- Drop this into your phones storage and boot into recovery!
- Backup... Duh...
- Flash...
- Enjoy!
The absolute worst thing that can happen, is it simply won’t work... I suggest a backup, just because its a good idea... That said you really can’t even boot-loop if you follow the above... If the image(s) are named wrong, or the wrong file type... It simply won’t work... The holo background you had previous to a your flash... Will simply still be present..
NOTE: If your ROM had a transparent holo, this MOD will NOT break it... If you flashed a theme with a transparent level... Again this will NOT break it... Simply set your image(s) to the desired transparent level...
pics would be nice

How it looks is completely up to you... All theme work is trial and error... What you think looks great on your laptop, may not look great in the background of your settings or dial keypad...
Here is a sample showing stock black... To a more Touchwiz blue... As i think this is where Samsung went wrong... A simple attempt to match their blue inside the background completely changes the look of Touchwiz... Its cleaner... Its vibrant... Its still classy...
But in the end, it really does loop back around to you as a user, and what you think looks good... I can post screen shots all day, and never once hit the mark with everyone...
Very well said, but the you actually did exactly what I wanted Lol. I wasn't sure exactly what our changes would replace, wasn't quite sure what holo dark images were. Thank you very much!
