use root explorer....go into system/apps .....copy the joyphone.apk there......set permission to r-r-r
reboot the phone.....go to dilar it will ask ...to use joy or stock...choose joy...and save it ..
your done...you may delete the old phone.apk...if you plan not to use it

It means to use ADB to push the .apk file to the /system/app directory.
The commands to do that are:
adb remount (read/write access)
adb push [apk_name_here].apk /system/app

There is no joyphone.apk..!!
What should I push exactly..??

Either with adb the command is "adb push joyphone.apk /system/app/joyphone.apk"
Or easier way if you don't know adb is to use a file manager to copy n paste it into system/app, set permissions to rwrr if your file manager doesn't automagically set them for you and it should work, I presume from reading kools post that you need to delete the other phone.apk.

You don't need the joyphone.apk at the end. Just thought I'd point that out.
Sent from my XT615 using xda premium

Indeed.
Having the .apk at the end of the path is only useful if the original one has a different name or extension.
Example.
adb push randomname.apk /system/app/newname.apk
This will push randomname to /system/app and rename it to newname.apk
it's also useful for when your theme-ing stuff and have the .apk renamed to .zip
adb push framework-res.zip /system/framework/framework-res.apk
This will push the .zip file to /system/framework and change the extension to apk

hi there..first of all thanks for the new keyboard...love it....now the problem...m currently on miui trying to push the file thrugh root explorer but m constantly getting "not able to change permissions"(on the apk)....secondly when i simply try to copy and move the file in "system/app" m not able to do it..cause i have r/o permission and not able to change permission to r/w there as well...help me with this.
nevermind..its done..
I've managed to push the file to /system/app and set permissions (644).
Then I've rebooted and Android Keyboard is there but when I change the input method to Android Keyboard, the app is always shutting down over and over again (com.android.inputmethod.latin).
Permissions set to 755. No good too!
Any idea?
Edit;
I tryied with adb like this:
Code:
adb install /path/to/tile/LatinIME_2-1.apk
and I got this output
Code:

Well, I've managed to install it with some extra help
I'm on 2.3.5 JVT costumized ROM and I did this:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
Close session and type
Code:
adb push \path\to\file\Latin_2-1.apk /system/app
Then, at your PC, open the apk file with winrar, extract the libjni_latinime.so file that is inside the ./lib/armeabi-v7a/
Then copy this file into your phone's system/lib dir with
Code:
adb push \path\to\.so-file\libjni_latinime.so /system
If no permission to copy, mount system again with rw mode with
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system/lib
Then reboot phone.
Please correct me any errors I could have made...
Worked for me
If u cant see it on input languages in root explorer delete LatinIME.apk and then rename the ics keyboard to the LatinIME.apk and push it to apps(adb push LatinIME.apk /system/app) it will be work.
Does anyone know if this will work on Sense?
Also does this give you the new version of voice transcription?

[BOOTANIMATION]Samsung Stock Boot Animation

Well, I did a little search for the SAMSUNG STOCK boot animation since I don't like the one in Custom and I just like the Stock one to just show off
and here it is...
I know you can found this in stock rom or img or whatever, but this one is just for convenience
I take no credit since Samsung made it, not me
How to use it?
Code:

adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/

Copy and Paste In Gmail Not Working

For some reason, whenever I try to copy something from Gmail on my AT&T S3, it crashes Gmail and forces me back to the home screen. I'm completely stock and not rooted. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Go into terminal do the next:

mv /data/clipboard /data/oldclipboard
mkdir /data/clipboard
chmod 775 /data/clipboard
chown system.system /data/clipboard
Reboot
Should sort it

Phone needs to be rooted, I'm unable to change the folder name.
I'm not too familiar with Linux commands but if you can use the terminal emulator to just clear out the folder (delete all) then it'll fix the issue.

When I try a rm (delete) on a file in the clipboard directory, I get permission denied. It looks like the phone needs to be rooted.
Also I am unable to execute the 'su' command.

Cheers thanks, I've seen that workaround but I'm not prepared to root my phone yet.
I just open a text message. Press and hold the blank text field. wait for the little popup saying clipboard. Tap that. then press and hold on each entry to delete them. Keep your clipboards clean folks!
Tapping on the clipboard icon doesn't do anything. The clipboard is corrupted, probably need to hard reset or root it to clear it out.

I am also having the issue of not being able to copy paste anything, and when I follow this advice I do not find testdata just testservice, which has no cache to clear. I am completely stock latest OTA as of 9.19 and not rooted. Any other suggestions to fix this?
Test service didn't work. You have to be rooted and delete the files within the clipboard folder and fix permissions. I've looked everywhere on the interwebz and this is apparently the only way.

[Q] My Kindle fire is in black screen :(

Hi all
I really messed my Kindle Fire up
I was rooting it following steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075959
And i gave me success but nothing happened I still had my carousel kindle fire menu and I tried several times with no succes at all.
Then I read for about 3 hours on different sets and saw that someone rename a file in es file explorer/under system/app called launcher.apk to launcher default.apk. I restarted my kindle fire and here is the problem I can't even get my carousel kindle fire menu up now This time it comes up in black and flashes. So I don't know if it is crached for ever or I can fix this issue.
I just tried to reset to factory default with same result. black screen
Somebody in here know what to do would be appreciated?
Thanks!
Best regards
Frustrated kindle fire user
It's not lost....
You have two methods to fix this
If you can enter adb commands you just need to rename default.apk to launcher.apk..
Our you can just do a complete restore of your device..

Factory reset merely wipes your data partition and caches which removes your personal info and apps.
The SYSTEM partition is untouched (where your launcher is located) so it does you no good.
A complete restore actually will replace your system partition with the stock os. This will recover everything back to stock, including your launcher.

You will have to use adb commands to rename the file.
This might help:

Tried to replace as you have written but it comes up with:
failed on launcher - no such file or directory - The original apk file is named launcher.apk last time I checked when my es file explorer worked if I remember correct
This is what I have done:
1. open cmd and goto ....\platform-tools
2. enter command: adb shell
3. enter su (to get superuser access to rename systemfiles)
4. enter mv Launcher default.apk Launcher.apk (also tried without extension same result)
How can I list the files in my installed applications folder on my kindle maybe I can see exactly the correct name so if the default name is launcher.apk when you buy a new kindle fire it can only be the name i have on the kindle fire now which is the problem.

I just found out almost everything now just need the correct command for renaming correct. I am reading as hell on several pages to get my kindle up and running againg
This is what I have done:
1. open cmd and goto ....\platform-tools
2. enter: command: adb shell
3. enter: su (to get superuser access to rename systemfiles)
4. enter: pm list packages -f kindle
1. Found the package:/system/app/Launcher default.apk=com.amazon.kindle.otter
Tried to rename file from here with following commands:
5. enter: mv Launcher default.apk Launcher.apk (this gave me error: Launcher - No such file or directory)
6. enter: mv Launcher default.old Launcher.old (this gave me error: Launcher - No such file or directory)
7. enter mv Launcher default.apk=com.amazon.kindle.otter Launcher.apk=com.amazon.kindle.otter (this gave me error: Launcher - No such file or directory)
So what am I doing wrong here?
Mv default.apk newfilename.apk
Edit:
Or, may need to be formatted like so:
mv /system/app/oldname.apk /system/app/newname.apk
You just need the path and filename.. all that = stuff and the word launcher is unneccessary

mv /system/app/Launcher default.apk /system/app/Launcher.apk (failed on /system/app/Launcher.apk - no such file or directory)

I now tried this command to stand in system/app:
ls system/app
And this time I get a list where Launcher default.apk is coming up. This is the wrong name. I would now rename this to Launcher.apk so I get original back but tried all mv commands from last and still did not succeed
Any guess on how the command should be from here? or do you have a original kindle fire 2 launcher (carousel) that I can push back as an alternative maybe?
Just so you can see what I have done from the start this is what I have done in the cmd:
1. open cmd and goto ....\platform-tools
2. enter: command: adb shell
3. enter: su (to get superuser access to rename systemfiles)
4. enter: ls system/app
Then tried all mv commands from before and with no luck yet...

You're gonna have to mod your systemui.apk. I think just changing the names of the PNG files is enough.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah you can manually replace each icon with an icon of the same size and name.
You can use 7-zip, since you're not editing any xml no need to decompile.

I have 7zip for opening and replacing the PNGs. But isnt the systemui.apk a read only file that cant be touched normally?
Any suggestions on removing/replacing it.

You need root to access system files.
You could also try ADB pull the file.
use command
Code:
adb pull /system/app/SystemUI.apk/

Having root access allows for you to write to the system partition. But the apk itself is just a compressed encrypted zip.

You could also try ADB pull the file.
use command
Code:
adb pull /system/app/SystemUI.apk/
Click to collapse
No back slash on the adb pull command at the end

Thanks for all the help.
Figured out how to get the SystemUI.apk. Have changed a few data icons.
Was just wondering how to replace the current SystemUI.apk with the altered one.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks, still learning about adb so your posts is always more informative than what I know.
Thanks all.
I successfully pulled then pushed the systemui.apk on my s4.
Now to try some more radical data icon changes

OK quick question.
How do you make the System folder RW?
I ended up using ADB to Pull and Push, but i could only push after i used Root Explorer to change the System folder to RW.
Im guessing thats not the normal way. But hey it worked.
What would be the usual way of making it RW? (I have root so its not that).
Thanks
ThunderBob
I guess something odd is going on.
Pulled SystemUI.apk.
switched names of the 2 data icons i wanted to switch.
Pushed SystemUI to phone.
Set permissions to 644.
and everything seemed to work. Icon i wanted is showing in the status bar.
But now Phone/Contacts/Messages dont load.
If i change my Build.prop (ro.product.name) to something else. I get the icons for that provider and everything works again.
Any ideas?

The 'adb remount' command is what you use.
