ics vs gb - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

can someone give me an idea on how current ics roms compare to older blazer ginger bread rom? How stable are the uxs builds both aosp and tw?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app

I've never used a Touchwiz-based ROM but I have used CM9. Right now, CM9 is not buggy at all but it is nowhere near the stability of Blazer gingerbread. If you want features and can deal with a few minor bugs, upgrade to an ICS ROM. If you like 100% stability stick with Gingerbread.

Best close to stock ROM.......?

So I've had the Unnamed Rom v101. I am always getting the update for el29. Now my GPS isn't working, so I think its time to upgrade.
I'm looking for a good close to stock Rom with not alot of bugs. Seems like all the ics Rom have to many bugs.
What do you guys recommend?
Honestly. When I run GB. I run the stock deodexed EL29 and then flash the HotSpot mod on top of it. The only reason I run the deodexed is cause I have my own stock mms.apk that I like to use so it make it easy to change it out. Then with Tegrak I undervolt it and have zero issues along with killer battery life. That is what I do.
Now as for a one flash EL29 ROM, I would have to recommend either Calks or Phantom Hackers "Blazer". They both run really well. And anything by Team TNZ is pretty rock solid too.
Blazer ROM
My vote is definitely for Blazer ROM. Stable, FAST, great battery life. Used Unnamed for a while (great rom), but decided to upgrade to EL29. Flashed Blazer and Calk's 5 row launcher, and never looked back. It looks sharp with stock theme and like I mentioned earlier it's very stable and fast. Currently on Calk's ICS rom but Blazer is one of my go to nandroid backups.
Calkulin that is all
Its you want a theme other than stock I recommend blazer its what mostly on

Calkulins. Either his custom EL29 or his custom FC07. His ICS build isn't that buggy from my experience, but to each his own.

ICS Roms are still beta any way you look at it so yes you will most likely run into issues with them. Also why didn't you update to unnamed 2.01?
Great info. Thanks alot!

Aokp or cm9 from Aero?

Since I'm new to the Droid incredible 2, I wanna know what others think.
I'm running regular cm9 (aero) rite now and is fine, but I would like more options. I'm forcing my self to not flash ics miui
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
Honestly, cm9 is probably your best bet. Last I heard, our device specific aokp hadn't been updated in a while. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I run the newest cm9 by areo an miui ics. The newest miui is the smoolest an quickest ICS rom with the .9ics kernel but is harder on the battery than cm9 by areo. Both are really good roms for me aokp is not as smool as either of the other 2.
Aokp has been updated to build 29, which is based off of 4.0.4. It's pretty good overall. Most of the bugs have been worked out. I've ran it for a couple of days now, and really can't complain. Having said that, I restored back to CM9 tonight due to Aeroeven's newest build 4-4-12.
I use Ics reloaded with CM9, so I get most of the custom stuff that I like in Aokp, so really, Aokp and CM9 both work great for me. It's more just a matter of which do I feel like using today.
Digging the 4-04 Aerovan build and the latest Nitsuj MIUI build. I think Aero's build is a tiny bit somoother than the MIUI, but not by too much. Nitsuj is new at MIUI, but these builds of his are getting better and better.
Try them both.

[Q] First time rom user, recommendations on roms that feel similiar to stock rom?

I've taken a look at a few ICS roms for the epic 4g touch, but they all seem to lean heavily towards the blue, which I assume ICS has made popular; I really don't like all the blue theming of the roms that I've seen. Are there any great ICS roms which you all recommend which stay true to the more varied and colorful feel of the stock gingerbread rom?
Just odin one of sfhubs roms. Complete stock with root added. Latest is fe14

You can also try any of calkulin rooms. They are pretty stable and nicely tweaked

If you want stability, my favorite is calkulin's 2.8.1 rom. It's a gingerbread rom but it's pretty darn stable in my opinion. I use the kernel that came with it but I use a newer modem. I found FD26 to be pretty agreeable with my phone. I'm playing with the new FE14 right now to see if it works better for me. I suggest to stay away from the ICS roms until the official final is released. I've tried different ICS roms only to go back to the good old reliable 2.8.1 EL29 from Calkulin.
Calkulins E4GT 2 ROM. 1.4 was very stable and good on battery. I haven't tried 1.5, but I'm pretty sure its good too.

1.5 is awesome-comes with inverted gmail and play store apps, and is just as stable and smooth as calk's other roms...plus if you flash his bare rom converter in the same session (after the rom), it gets rid of a TON of unneeded bloatware

I have tried some of them, but which one is the best? Because I don't think I'd want to flash all of them.

^^^^ this.
And besides, most of the available Roms are equally stable / very soon to be stable.
Do a good flash, making sure to wait a while right after flashing, and all will be good.

You need Jedi Jelly 6. Its a Samsung Touchwiz ROM. I have had nothing but smooth performance.

I've really been enjoying the AOKP Jellybean. There are some minor issues with bugs being worked out with the nightlies, but overall it's dope!
I've been on CM 10.1 nightly 03/23 since that day and it's really nice. Everything works smoothly and CM is a pleasure.

I second this one. Jedi Jelly 6 is very smooth. My only issue with it is that it's based off of a leaked AT&T ROM.
I believe ptmr3 (the dev) is working on a new version that is based on the recent 4.1.2 release specifically for the SGH-T989.
I switched to an AOSP based ROM and I'm never looking back despite wifi calling being a cool feature, but I never used it. Anyway, I've been using 2.2 Slimstars which was pretty great. The updates seemed to be a little unstable like the camera not working. Is the new one, 4.12 pretty much fixed? And are there many changes with 4.2.2? I may try PACman. How's that stability wise? Stability and speed (I just want it to work without waiting you know?) are priorities.
ptmr3's Jedi Mind Trick JB 2.1 is by the the fastest and smoothest and glitch free rom out there
I have tried almost all roms of the ICS and JB flavour
personally I do not like non touchwiz roms
and all CM and AOKP 4.2 roms do not support MHL output or Bluetooth mouse properly
everything seems to work on JMT except for OP known issues
