So after de sensing it and getting vanilla apps, I noticed some HTC things remain like hub, friend stream, and messaging.
I've tried clearing data and such, also disabling HTC messaging centers notifications but I still get duplicate messages from people in both messaging apps. Anyway I can safely remove the htc junk without ruining my rom? Thanks.

Yeah... I would think with root and removing the HTC junk your rom would still work fine.

It's becouse the tool does not remove HTC messaging app. You can go to Settings-> Applications -> and there disable that application (freeze it)

I've got the same issue, uninstalled re-installed still don't display and they used to.
have you tried going to the application settings?

maybe its disabled in the new update

I done that too, and I enabled large picture under the 'display contacts picture' setting. still no luck
in that case its probably an issue with handcent, itll probably get updated soon so keep your eyes open you can always leave a comment on the market?
You can add me to the list . I thought it might have been something I uninstalled, but doubt it.
Contact the developer of the app.
I got the same problem , only a few pictures works ...
It seems to work well with Chompsms, but i dont want those damn "iphone" bubbles
I'm having the same issue but I am doubting that it is due to Handcent.

I have my contact sync'd from Google and Facebook for HTC Sense on my HTC Incredible. Any SMS or MMS message I receive will show the contact image except the 10 or so contacts that I have in my Google Talk list. I have tried "un-linking" them but it didn't correct the problem. The same thing is happening in the original Messages application so that is why I am questioning the cause being associated with Handcent.
Any other thoughts about this?
I'm having the same issue. I recall I fixed this once by going into the contacts application and clearing the data. Everything synced up again.
OR perhaps I just uninstalled Facebook for HTC Sense and reinstalled it..I can't remember. Damn.
Yep..uninstalled FB from syncing, and reinstalled..takes a while..but they are all back in hancent.
I have not rooted or anything yet, but was wondering if anyone one knew why Facebook is getting bigger and bigger. Everytime I chek the "Data" size is increasing, I keep having to unistall and reinstall Facebook, because of the huge data size making phone storage space low.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !?!

cant you just clear the data like every other app or does it not do that? i dont use facebook app cuz i think its garbage, so im just guessing
can't clear data, wish it was that easy.
It's crazy; up to 62Mb of Data now, I even disabled sync of "facebook" newsfeeds, hoping that was it, no luck.
Have the same app (from market) installed on my mt3g for a year now, and the data is up to 5Mb.

Did you try clearing the cache?
I have FB set to never auto-update, notifications off, and sync all contacts. My app data is at 0.97MB. On the other hand, I rarely use the app as I mostly rely on the LauncherPro Friend's widget and TweetDeck.
Maybe you just have a massive Facebook addiction.

Ok - I have been noticing this as well. Here is what I see.
I use the facebook app - "facebook for Android" it's a free download in the market.
When you open up applications in the settings menu - it has 2 Facebook applications. Facebook and Facebook for Mytouch. The Facebook for Mytouch is larger in my phone 17.5mb and does not have the option to uninstall... the downloaded facebook app is 6.5 mb and does get larger - but in the settings you can clear cash and it drops the app down.
I believe that the Facebook for Mytouch is the part of the phone os that syncs facebook details to your phones contacts. Like updating pictures and contact information for people who are linked from your contacts and facebook.
I personally like the updated profile/contact pictures that this feature offers... but 17mb is a HUGE price to pay.
The phone regularly gives the warning that it has LOW storage space reminding you that you should delete some apps... which is UNFORTUNATE. If only you could store the apps on the SD card EASILY - EVERYONE would be flocking to Android phones.
Just my experience with this issue.
Does anyone know if clearing data in the Facebook for Mytouch removes all the synced info - or is more like a clearing the cash?
Thanks
Hey guys,
I have a stock HTC One V (not rooted) and I've been facing a few problems with it.
The contacts keep on crashing. A lot of times I get the message saying "The Contacts Storage app has crashed..." And I've to wait sometimes a few minutes for the contacts to load whenever I open the People app.
Whatsapp keep on crashing. I've noticed that this happens mostly when I open the app and another message comes in at the same time.
A lot of times when I make a call, it takes a around a minute or so, sometimes even more, to place the call. In the mean time, the phone app displays a black screen. Also, when I get the call from a contact whose number is saved, the name doesn't come up and the phone gives me an option to save the number.
I've tried transferring all my Google contacts to local storage, but after a while, the same problems cropped up again.
I do plan to rooting the phone once I get the unlock key repaired (it isn't working very well right now).
Any help on how to deal with the aforementioned problems will be appreciated.

I'll try that.
But are these problems indicative of something else because they crop up soon everytime I reset my phone?
I install only the most needed applications (Power Toggles, File Explorer, Whatsapp) and try not to burden the phone with any crap.
htc sense is the problem... root your phone and install pure android.. like cm10,slim bean, aokp, pa, miui... etc etc etc etc etc etc

That's what I was also guessing. Never liked Sense.
If any one is interested, I solved all the three issues by unchecking every other contact (Phone, Sim, etc.) type except Google from the people app.
Everything works perfectly now and I've never been happier with my phone.

i have tried just about ever rom that is available for my phone and on each one i dont get any push notifications. i have tried using push notification fixer and that didnt do anyrthing. but after a week of staying on the rom the notifications start to work. i talked to a friend who use to work at verizon and he said that it seemed like a network issue but he didnt know for sure. would anyone on here know what is wrong with my phone. any help would be nice. im currently using the newest version of root box
Hmm... are you on WIFI? or Data? i dunno it might be possible that the sync is off :S or something like that did u install the sotck rom? to check if it's working ? if so u might wanna try that .. i havn't had this issue ... i've been changing roms alot these days i've recieved notifications on all of them .. is there any specific app that your talkin' about?
im using data. the wifi in my house sucks. i havent gone back to stock yet. but im talking about not getting notifications from facebook, facebook messenger, snapchat apps like that. the only notifications i get are texts and gmail. i have turned sync on and off many times thinking it was that.

And I assume you have checked the settings in those apps and made sure notifications are enabled? Also, are you using a third party SMS app that might be blocking other apps from displaying notifications? Some apps do that.

im using the stock messenger. well its cyanogen mod stock. yea i made sure that notifications in every app was checked. but the thing is that if i use the same rom for like a week the push notifications just magically start to work again. so i really dont know why its doing that.
I am really puzzled about such a simple thing -- the 'Frequent' list on my stock SMS app on my M9. I cannot delete any of these contacts? I went to my Android groups and edited the "Frequent Callers" group, but this had no effect on the SMS app (restarted, cleared caches, etc). I talked to HTC and they even said this list is not modifiable. The problem is not only a privacy issue, but the list does not update itself -- so, my best friend (who is a frequent contact) has modified his number but this list keeps only the old number.
Wondering if anyone has an 'inside' way of deleting (or stopping) this list? I am on recent/stock M9. I do not want to root just yet (waiting for more stock updates). The few 'history' type apps that I looked at do not alter the SMS Frequent list either. Thanks in advance.
Is your frequent list accurate? Like if you go to your messages on click on the icon in the right, and the name list that drops down is yours accurate? Ugh
