Manually turn on 4g ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey fellas , I was wandering how can I turn on my 4g manually ? I'm on stock jb on sprint and I do have 4g in my area but it doesn't seem to turn on. Any help ?

Settings -> 'More...' under Wireless & Networks -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode. Choose whatever option includes LTE (probably says LTE/CDMA like it does on my VZW Nexus).

Where do you live? Sprint doesn't have LTE live in very many places. Even in the markets they've launched, its not exactly expansive.

Stone Mountain. Georgia

Here is my area lol.. ( Dont stalk me ) well as you can see this has to be a few miles long but i am covered. I dont know if im unlucky or what lol

Call Sprint and ask if there is an outage in your area, if not, they can probably help troubleshoot your problem.

Question about what this means

Ok, so I'm in Houston Texas and I had emailed sprint to check if LTE service or coverage will be available in my area and I received this email back .
So my question is, does this mean even when they turn it on, will I not be able to get LTE on my phone in my home area?

It simply says that LTE is currently not available in your area...and to keep checking their websites for any updates of its availability where you are. In short terms, Sprint sucks where you live.

I agree, 3g sux here and I'm so tempted to give sprint back their galaxy nexus and go back to my old phone. It was for some reason a better connection than what I get now .

I'm thinking I may go back to my old phone then, I got this phone on the 22nd and 3g has been horrible on it.
I'm able to get LTE connection near downtown but only there 2 days a week and is not worth it if that's only where I can get it! :-(

[Q] force 3g on GS3

I recently rooted my GS3 and i have been trying to figure out how to force 3g service on it any help? since i can only pick up 4g in certain areas im tired of the EDGE 2G.
Im pretty sure you cant, seeing as hspa+ is still technically 3G or WCDMA. So I think your stuck with Edge for now... Until T-Mobile does more service upgrades in your area... Don't worry, I get crappy service wherever I go, and I have the worst service here at home... Should have went with Sprint...

You could try, but AT&T uses the same thing "HSPA+" which is really 3G, but they still call it 4G, and that's what would show up on your status bar (it would still say 4G), so I don't know if that'll work... You can give it a try though. I'm actually going try it our right now, and see how it works. I'll keep you posted. :good:
Have that issue too and don't count on them upgrading anything anytime soon. Just wait till your contract is up and make that switch

So, I just tried and I couldnt register on AT&T's network. Guess your just gonna have to deal with it for now... :/

I guess you can take the 4G plan off your phone and be throttled down to 3G speed... That's it.

Epic 4G Touch 4G ?

I have not had 4g working on my Epic at all unless I was all the way on the other side of town. Now I know for a fact that LTE is not in my area but for the hell of it I activated my old LG Viper LTE and what do you know, I have constant 16 meg download on 4g. Anyone here that might have an idea of why this is? I really want to use my epic but wow this 4g stuff is nice too.
the 4G in our phone is on the wimax network, not LTE
I 100 percent understand that, that's the reason I was confused because sprint has not setup lte here yet.

No I don't think that's possible... I'm pretty sure that Sprint and Verizon (or anybody else) would use the same frequencies for their 4G... they want it to stay fast... trial period is most likely
This Network Vision thing Sprint has been talking about is real. Lots of new LTE towers up recently all over the country. And no there is no 4g roaming between carriers.
4g LTE roaming is not possible between any of the carriers.
ATT LTE uses low 700mhz block & in the future, some AWS and WCS.
Vz LTE uses upper 700mhz block & in the future, AWS.
T-mobile LTE is AWS
Sprint LTE is PCS 1900/ SMR 800 / BRS-EBS 2.5/2.6ghz
I will give sprint a call tomorrow and ask because I need to know if I need to get a good lte phone. Can't even get any 4g on this phone.

It could be up and not announce it yet. Same as Here in my area (Arecibo PR) LTE is up and running but not officially announced. Even if you call CS they will negate it's up. Only officially available west of PR.

Just use sensorly and open signal it'll show you exactly where towers are and their broadcast bands (1x, 3g, lte, wimax) and coverage range

Except it came out 9 months ago and the nexus 4 has already replaced it. Its got a weak camera, low RAM, poor display and did I mention it's old. If it was any phone but a nexus it wouldn't be getting updated anymore and headed for EOL, which it will be EOL less than halfway thru your new contract

My wife has a nexus. Its not bad but it came out before the e4gt. Hers is the verizon version. It does run good for having inferior cpu. Lte radio is a plus. No gorilla glass! Shes shattered 2. Overall great phone just lacks features from s3, but its basically free now. Lte is being built in my town now. So maybe few months and its live letd hope s4 is out.

[Q] Can I use another 4G LTE provider?

Can I use another 4G LTE provider on the Galaxy Note II from Sprint?
I have Boost Mobile and I had a Galaxy S2 with Clear.com 4G WiMax. I now can only get 3G, and as you ALL know the 3G speed has lowered quite a bit. (200~400k vs 700~900k 3 years ago)
Another alternative I guess would be to get a Hotspot, but who wants to carry around a phone AND a hotspot when you can have them both on the phone?
I believe you can use this device on any network that is actually using Sprint towers, like MetroPCS (?) or Boost?
There are threads somewhere for instructions on flashing this.
(i'm also talking out my ass, because I have only noticed these threads in passing, never actually researched this. But I bet if you Searched a bit, you'd find the info.)
Um LOL. Like the thread right under this one?

Thanks for the info but that's not what I meant. I mean the 4G service, not the voice, talk, text and 3G. I have that already. (that's what the thread under this one does, help you program the Note 2 on Boost, I already did that part. I meant the 4G LTE, i.e. connecting it on Verizon's LTE or T-Mobile's (MetroPCS is now part of T-Mobile I believe?) Heck, even a Sprint LTE account if they allowed it by itself with no talk/text service would be nice.

Impossible to do first off you need to understand how technology and radios work Tmobile is GSM. Sprint and verizon are CDMA and you can only "roam" on 3g verizon with a prl that can get you kicked off, if you abuse it.

Ok, so maybe I do need to do some research. LTE is *not* like WiMax? It doesn't have separate "device" from the actual voice/text/3G radio?
LTE uses the same radio as the cellphone and 3G?

I give facts and argument you insult sprint... well of course you are right. who has ever heard of the "can suck it" argument ever loosing. that's how we explained to Hitler and the Japanese emperor that he had to surrender in WW2 "Mr Hitler can suck it" -pres trueman, "since I can suck it I have ordered my forces to surrender and suggested to the Japanese to do the same"-hitler (translated to English)
if you can't give facts to support your claim you can go head and get an iPhone on a gsm network since you are using the same arguments apple uses to ensnare its sheep -i mean- customers
either that or you are an at&t rep or fanboy trying to weakarm customers away from sprint. why you aren't targeting your biggest competitor Verizon is beyond me but take that stuff to T-Mobile customers they'll eat that up like they eat their "unlimited" throttled data
one bad experience in one city with one small period of data speed downturn does not a bad carrier make
oh and mods don't blame chuko (or me) for starting arguments. arguments are healthy and help shape perception

I am in Seattle Wa and got a text from T-mo that I can now use LTE!
I called tech support and in a matter of one minute, I was on LTE
I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII SGH-T999 running Android 4.1.1 and on the T999UVLJC Baseband Version
Rom Build# is JR003L.T999UVDLJA
So, to all the naysayer knowitalls that said no LTE support for the Galaxy SIII now you can go suck your thumbs. It works!
