I'm using the Extreme Guard full body skin. Loving it so far. There is no impact on screen functionality / clarity what-so-ever. In fact you can't even tell its on there ( except on the back, the textured battery door doesn't do well with skins. I put it on anyway though just for protection)
I'm using that plus a generic tpu s style black case. The buttons are a little harder to press but manageable. I've dropped it multiple times and no dings or dents Also, this tpu case creates a bit of a lip around the screen so if its dropped on a flat surface, the screen wont touch the ground!
Here is the tpu case :

After scratching my screen multiple times, i decided to get a protector. SGP ultra crystal is the one i got, looks amazing and feels just as good if not better than the original gorilla glass.

Gorilla Glass my ass, it got scratched the first day i used it, normal usage in my pocket with nothing with it.
iPhone screen never got scratched after 2 years of usage.
I ordered a trident aegis case and it came with a free screen protector but it was crinkled in half in the box, looked like UPS actually caused the damage...the case is nice though!

Well that's not good for me. I just ordered the "Crystal Clear" Anti Glare screen protector from Boxwave. I've seen quality ones that looked pretty good. I've also seen cheap ones that made for a bad experience.
Good news.
The newest technology in screen protection is on its way to the Galaxy Nexus. I was curious and sent a message to Spigen to see if the iPhone people were the only ones to be getting the cool new tech and they answered back that it is development for the GNex.
If your unfamiliar, the company is developing ultra thin glass screen protectors with oleophobic coatings and ultra clear adhesives that gives you the same exact feel as a bare screen but at about a $27 price point is not a problem to replace if it gets scratched.
The quote is an email I got from them.

Wow awesome! This is what I used on my galaxy s2 back when I had it and I've been spoiled by it. I've bought and thrown away almost every possible screen cover for the galaxy nexus. The only thing that the spg glas had was it interfered with touch screen sensitivity. But it was nothing a overvolted kernel couldn't fix

I think it's a little bit different than the glas. The glas.t doesn't have a border around it. Hopefully this will work OK with existing cases like the Neo Hybrid.
I wonder if it will be just as impossible to apply this as it is with all the other dry screen protectors. It is damn near impossible to install a dry protector without getting dust under it.

You're doing it wrong. I've installed a ton for me and friends and 90% of the time they are perfect. Make sure you install em in a steamy bathroom to get rid of dust, don't touch the sticky side of the protector, and make sure the screen is perfectly clean before applying.

According to iPhone users, they are practically transparent and feels the same as naked, oleophobic coating glass.
I myself am extreme excited about it, but I did hear that you only get one shot to install it :/
Didn't know such screen protector existed.
Very cool but I really do wonder how they will make this work on our curved screens.

I'm gonna guess that the protector itself will be curved. I doubt something as rigid as glass will bend to the contour of the screen...
I just hope this is compatible with the Neo Hybrid.

Can't see any problems with the curve - thin glass is flexible enough to contour to the slight curve in the Galaxy Nexus screen. I suspect there might be problems near the edges though if there's any overlap.

That's the point though. Even something as thin and flexible as PET film has edge lift issues. It they don't curve the glass there may be edge issues, or the adhesive may lose effectiveness over time as the glass separates from the screen.
For $27 (what they're charging for the iPhone version) for one protector they better make it damn near perfect. There's no chance I'm paying that much for something that's cut as short as their ultra oleophobic protector.
Im pretty picky when it comes to protectors, but for $30 I will have to pass.
on the hp its about 17.99 $

I used to use screen protectors on all my devices but I stopped believing in them because I usually take good care of my devices either eay and the screen protectors took away the beauty from the device.
It really is just a matter of personal opinion.

So I took off my ghost armor on the sgs2 and tried the ultra crystal, in my opinion it's the best screen protector I have ever used, and I've tried a lot! If it wasn't for the cut out for the ffc you wouldn't be able to see it. I second sgp screen protectors. Excellent and easy to apply. Just be wary of doing the matte option if your looking for anti glare... It will cause it to have a grainy look that is very annoying... Their normal protector is excellent.

I found out the same thing, only after putting the phone in my pocket with my keys. The screen with scratch so I highly recommend that you put on a screen protector
I'm glad this thread hasn't gone retarded with a bunch of assumptions and stuff.
Gorilla glass is just a name. other tempered/reinforced glass can be designed the same way or even better but is not called "gorilla glass".
Like others have mentioned, the glass is pretty sturdy and can protect it from scratches from most day to day objects and items that you use. However, sand in your pocket or on the table can scratch the **** out of the glass because it is compiled by a lot of different minerals.. shoot there might be even diamond in it.
I'm sure most active users on XDA take care of our devices and will be annoyed by the smallest scratches on the screen, so I would recommend a screen protector. It definitely helps prevent scratches and add an extra amount of "cushion" from small drops to prevent shattering your screen.
BTW I was fortunate enough to buy inexpensive screen protectors (like 5 for $4) on amazon and they turned out to be like the SGP ones. They were actually some of the best screen protectors I ever used, it felt identical to the glass. Just a thought if you decide to go the cheap route that there are some good and inexpensive generic ones.

It increases a friction a bit initially but over about a week it'll smooth out and write well. I don't get any stylus marks. I clean the protector occasionally with zagg foam and it's like new. I have the full body version. As a warning if you get the back protector it needs to be cut to accommodate the s-pen. I've been working with zagg to get them to fix it. I ended up just cutting mine.
I am hoping for glass smoothness. I finally got the SPG glas on my Note LTE and it really spoiled me but they don't make that in 10.1 size.

I also have Zagg screen protector. It does have resistance. The pen does not move freely on the screen. It does leave marks on the protector.
The screen can self healing so most of marks will disappear after a while.
Zagg suggest uses of Turtle Wax. Performance is acceptable with turtle wax apply to it weekly.

Thanks, gmfeny, for the heads up on Zagg. This was discussed in the larger screen protector thread. I'm at the armor suit website now. Did you get the screen protector for 19.95? Is it Glossy? This looks like it adheres similar to the Clear-Plex brand. Thanks.
I got it from amazon I think for around $19 and it came with the clear body shield to protect the rest of the tab. It is glossy not one of those dull anti glare ones and its a wet application or whatever its called so you can't really mess up putting it on.

I got a Steinhill (SGP) for $20 from Amazon. I use them for all of my devices and they stand up really well. They are difficult to apply because one spec of dust will ruin it. Take your time applying (in a steamy bathroom is helpful) and all will be good.

I use the Xtreme guard screen protector. It is similar to the Zagg protector people have been talking about, It is self healing so has no scratches, even after my 2 year nephew got on it with a pen...
At the moment Xtreme guard are having a sale, If you buy 2 protectors use the coupon code 75off2 and you'll get a good deal.
It is also put on using water. You need to soak the protector in water, take off the cloudy protective backing and put it onto the note 10.1 screen wet. Make sure the tab is off. It's pretty easy, take about 10 minutes and once on is really good. If you need to take off it comes off fairly easily but you won't take it off accidentally...
They also have a body shield too that keeps everything looking new...
Just purchased a couple new protectors, code is still good... Would've been $15 for screen and body protector X2 if I lived in America but since I live in Oz it cost $19..
I got my clear plex screen protector yesterday and is awesome. I go through screen protectors like crazy. Heard about clear plex the other day and truly impressed. Stylus does not stick as I use my note for graphic designs and freehand drawing.
Highly recommend

Was the clearplex hard to install. I have had really hard time with Zagg in the past so I am a little leary to try to install the the clearplex because I don't want to mess it up.
Installed a bodyguardz last night. I've trusted their gear on all devices. Epic 4g, iPhone 3g, S3, and now my note 10.1. It seems to be pretty smooth. Easy to install with the lube they send. Doesn't seem to keep finger prints and comes with a fancy microfiber as well.
Hi, you can try replacing the tip of the stylus with the full white plastic tip. It will be smoother.

Not sure how the good brand matte screen protectors are like, but the cheap ones i recieved were horrible. The quality was great but the screen resolution sucked bad. So you did choose matte. I once had it and it was driving me crazy. Just feels not right when you touch it. I like glossy ones.
I got the lloyd matte ones and i couldn't take it anymore after two days. It was fingerprint proof and that was great but the pixilation and loss of screen quality was a real dealbreaker. It was like looking at a old tube television really up close. Too bad. I really like how the touch was compared to the hd gloss ones.

I use to use a Zagg shield on all my phones but on the S3 it seems its not as resilient as past phones cause im noticing like "dent" marks in it now. SO not sure if they changed something but they arent as good anymore...go figure

The nano clear does not cover 100%. The only screen protector that cover full screen are wet applications or the dry application sgp curved crystal.
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using neighbors wifi
Some of the matte or anti-fingerprint screen protectors make the screen dull or grainy, some don't. I have typically just purchased Spigen crystal Clear but sometimes I just get the ones at the Verizon store too if I am out and need one on a hurry. I tend to avoid the Zagg film ones due to the orange peel affect. Some of the tempered glass type like Spigen's Glas.t (which they are not offering on the GS3) are beneficial as well.
One thing to keep in mind is not all screen protectors work with all cases. Case in point is the Spigen ones with the curved edges, I found they tend to lift and were useless.
I use iSmooth and my friends can't even tell its there. Its a dry application but doesn't cover the whole phone which I'm fine with.

No scratches, also, this is the first time I've used a screen protector on any of the phones I've used. I hate having one but I have to admit, I'm impressed with this one. IMO, the picture doesn't do any justice, thats not a lift, its the shadow on the edges. It's only $10 on amazon
Here's a tip when installing, have a scotch tape near by to remove any lints. It works better than what comes with the product.
