Two Questions - HTC One X

1st is it normal phone get hot when browsing via WiFi?
2nd i want to disable keyboard vibration, i already go to Setting>Language & Keyboard>HTC Sense Input>and make Vibration feedback off but it's didn't work for me and the keyboard vibration still working !! so annoying

?!

1. It will get hot regardless as long as screen is on.
2. That try turning off vibration on touch under settings > sound or download another keyboard app

already disable all vibration setting in sound too but keyboard vibration still work

It usually works when turning off vibration. Are you using a custom rom? Maybe try a different keyboard?

keyboard vibration

Hi guys
I cant remember if I had this done before but isnt it possible to turn the vibration off when the keys are pressed in the dialer? I do have the KB Mod but all options for the keyboard feedback are switched off, but it still does it
any ideas
Press and hold Menu until the keyboard comes up, tap the settings icon. Now select Text Input and uncheck the Vibrate when typing option.

Ah yes you are correct, it only turns off vibration for the Keypad and not the dialer, i shall keep looking
EDIT: Yep, that kinda sucks... even by turning off the Haptic feedback and Vibrate on keypress only affects when you use literally the keyboard like typing messages even if the description of the Haptic feedback feature says that it is also applicable to certain UI interactions. It would have been good if the dialer were included in the interactions. But the truth is the dialer seems like an another story, which I think it is a bit weird.
Once full root access is available, hopefully we can install an app like Wysie's Contacts app (available on Nexus) which allows you to disable the feedback function on the dialer.

Aye, it's a little annoying though and I too would like to find a way to have it's function disabled
As mentioned above, I think once full root access is available hopefully, and if it is made available for the Desire, we can install an app like Wysie's Contacts app (available on Nexus) which allows you to disable the feedback function on the dialer.

No haptic sound !

Hi guys! i got my new galaxy nexus yesterday! after a long time with my GREAT galaxy S i made the change.
One strange problem, when i turn on the nexus i notice that it make no sound when you press something on screen (like back key, home, but also in the settings menu etc) i was thinking that keypress tone was unticked but it was!
after 10 minutes the nexus ask for the update (great!!! ) to 4.0.2 , all gone fine but keypress sound still don't sound! also the keyboard don't make sound (set tone on in keyboard setting)
and also (and last) no sound when lock-unlock the phone...
any ideas?
thanks!
do you mean heptic feedback? when you press the keys and it makes a slight noise and vibrates or when your actually dialing numbers? If so have you checked your system volume?
Settings --> Sound --> Volume, make sure that you have your volume turned up.
Settings --> Sound --> Touch Sounds, make sure its checked.
Settings --> Sound --> Dial-pad touch tones , make sure its checked.

thanks for the aswers (also to sonikot) yes i mean haptic feedback sound
all sound checked, and volume is full for each voices, and its work because in ringtone, notification, games ecc the sound work fine!
i try to deselect touch sound dial pad ecc and reselect again but no effect.
Touch vibrate work fine, when check, the touch vibrate, when un-check the touch don't vibrate.
so i miss : haptic feedback, unlock-lock phone sound, and keyboard sound (i also check this point in the keyboard settings)
other sound seems to work fine... what happen?
a question: where is , in system folder, the .ogg for the haptic sound? so i check if the file exist ;-)
hi, nobody has any ideas for solve my problem with sound?
a new detail:
yesterday i unlocked the nexus and make root, after the full wipe the phone reboot to the standard initial configuration page (choose the language and after set your account etc) in these pages the haptic sound work!!! but when i finished the configuration of the account, back to homescreen, no haptic sound again... it's very strange !
please helpppp ;-)
I had this happen to me after unlocking my phone also. Sounds were ticked on, but would not play (even keyboard sounds).Someone in another thread suggested it might be due to using the "Restore Apps" option when first setting up the phone.
What I ended up doing was perform a factory reset and choosing not to restore apps. As I had just unlocked, it wasn't much of a hassle.
This may or may not be the case with your phone so you might want to try this as a last resort.

thanks! interesting, and possible... now i have already restored my apps (automatic, where do i set NOT restore app ??) so by now i can wait... it's possible that soon i'll try some fresh ROM from the devolper forum and maybe this solve all problem heheh
There is no haptic sound as such, just the motor buzzing when you press the screen. If a sound was to actually be heard each time I touched the screen I'd go insane!

Settings - Sound - Vibrate (When calls & notification ) - Disable that and it should be fine. Or doesn't that help ?
I have already done the settings in sound, still it does not help.

Tried putting it on "No-Sound" mode ? (Add Sound Widget, there are 3 modes : Sound, Vibrate, No Sound)
That last one should disable everything if I'm correct ?

I have the same problem here. I don't think turning the pocket mode off is the right fix. It vibrates even I leave it on the table.
Yeah same for me the damn vibration woke me up as its really loud. I have pocket mode enabled though, isnt it only supposed to put the volume up? Besides my phone was laying on a table with the sensor unblocked

Vibrate Issues - Could be a Common Problem with Android
I think this is a common problem with Android phones as this happens not only on my EVO 3D but also on a brand new Sony Xperia P. Even restarting the phone after changing/toggling between vibrate on and off between restarts does not help. Despite checking all settings and turning off, when any notification or an incoming call or anything happens, the phone vibrates!
I have checked all applications' settings too because some settings are there for vibrate for notifications. IMO chat app, etc and even in messaging I have vibrate turned off under settings for notifications and STILL the phone vibrates! This IS an ISSUE and I don't see why Android developers:highfive: or even Mobile Company QA personnel:cyclops: have not bothered to check this BASIC issue and Resolve it over so long! Could be the cause of why Android Battery life sucks so much or an inherited bug! Tried this even on a HTC Explorer.
From what I've read around there is NO way to disable all vibrations in non-rooted android phones! Kinda stupid if you ask me. For a rooted phone you have to download an app like either Spare Parts and disable vibration via that. Why they don't have the option to globally disable all vibration as default settings on Android beats me?! You can turn off vibration under settings for notifications and anything but you WILL still get vibrate despite turning all vibrate settings OFF! They HAVE to rectify this nonsense! Basic functionality and they can't even get that right!

Vibrate mode not working

I feel like I have to be missing something dumb here. I can't get the G3 to be in vibrate mode and vibrate when I get a text or call. When I get the call the screen just lights up to the caller screen. It doesn't even vibrate when I have the ringer on. Under settings -> Sound, I have Silent mode set to vibrate then the Ringtone with vibration checkbox goes grey. This is what my sound settings are in the screenshot. What am I missing?

your not the only one i have missed quiet a few calls because this phone isnt vibrating
Good to know you are also having this issue. I just got it on Friday and I haven't dropped it. The phone won't even vibrate when I switch it into vibrate mode like my S3 did. It vibrates when I turn the phone off so I know that it can vibrate. It has to be a setting that we are missing. I am trying to stay away from a hard reset of the phone.
Settings-sound and click Vibrate. Turn strength up. I found it rather weak. So changed Vibration type to a loner ong and boosted strength some. Helps
idk. no problems on my side

It's not that. I already had that set to Vibrate. I get vibration from other apps like Facebook when I have a notification. I checked the default texting app and it's set to vibrate always.

Ok, now it seems to be working. I restarted the phone and it went through the optimizing apps screen. I wonder if it was having issues still after I tried switching to ART runtime. I switched it back to Dalvik yesterday but it maybe didn't optimize everything.
I've been having the same issue. It fixes itself whenever I restart but keeps coming back. I have the at&t version in case that makes a difference.

Having same issue, on rooted Verizon. That option stays grayed out...anyone find the answer to this?
I just updated to lollipop and I'm having the same issue. I can't get my texts or emails to vibrate at all. Picture in the first post is accurate for me. Vibrate mode active and notification and touch sliders are greyed out.

yup, that's the fix I also found for this problem. Restarting fixes it.
A new official update popped up two days ago and the vibration stopped working after it was installed. I tried rebooting, I even did factory reset, but still not working. Help?

Vibrate Only Mode?

Hi,
So I've had the phone for a couple days now, and I love it. But today I received the nougat update and I have one little (major) issue:
When in any of the none-silent notification modes, it's set to ringer only. I used to have it on vibrate only, mostly in priority mode with vibrate, so it wouldn't ring. How do I get this back? Putting the volume all the way down doesn't change it to vibrate anymore, and nor does tapping on the actual bell icon.
Thanks
I have the same problem. After update I accidentally turned volume up and now I can't turn it back to vibrate. My level of sound stops at 14% and I can't make it vibrate-only. Any ideas?

This doesn't solve the issue. You still can't have the phone vibrate to only priority notifications.
With the slider on the top position (with vibration enabled in the settings) the phone will vibrate for every notification. And if you want to switch to a "drop dead" mode with no notifications at all you would always need to go in the settings to change the vibration option of the silent profile.
Major step back by oneplus.
I want that exact same thing too. So:
Silent - silence all except alarm (with option to vibrate)
Do not disturb - all the current options + option to vibrate for the ones enabled and no sound
Ring - standard mode. Sound for all + option to vibrate.
It's strange that they've missed such a common feature.
The functionality is moved to slider now. Turn the slider all the way up to silent mode and press the grear icon to select the vibration option.
Easy. Love it much more now.

Such a glaring omission by OnePlus.
I have solved the problem by installing Ringer Modes. This app allows you to put a tile in your quick settings that will change ring modes, including Vibrate mode!

That's not an omission. That's how it's meant to be in Nougat update. Now people will actually use the Alert Slider more often.
Personally, I love this implementation much more than before.

This seems to be terrible functionality to me. With my old Nexus phone all I needed to do was 1) Hold the Volume Down button and it would go into vibrate only mode. All it took was one button click. Now you are saying I need to: 1) Move the Alert Slider 2) Click the gear 3) Enable vibration 4) Exit out of settings page to continue what I was doing.
Four steps whereas before it only took one. That is a enormous step back in functionality in my mind.

You only have to do it once, brother Once the slider is set to vibrate on silent mode, you only have to touch the slider. It's quicker than 'holding' the volume button.
Cheers.

Actually, you're right. I just tried that and it works. Now that I think about it I'm not sure why I originally assumed I'd need to select vibrate every single time.
Not bad at all just a little different than I'm used to.
I don't understand the functionality, can you explain again?
When i have vibration enabled in silent mode, how do i quickly enable and disable vibration? (before all I had to do was move the slider)
I think LOS roms still have the feature that you need
