I wasn't sure where to post this but any help would be appreciated. I wanted to try the new jellybean alpha rom and accidently downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737449. Now I have a bricked phone and cant get into download or any response from the phone. Are there any options other than a new phone?
Wth is a nexus s 3
Yup its bricked
You could try the method where a USB jib was used to go to dl mode
Although idk if it will work or not

USB jib? Never heard of it. Is there a good thread on how to use it?
AFAIK there are no USB jigs for Galaxy S3.
You're pretty much screwed if you can't get into download mode. When you flashed the ROM, it probably overwrote the partition for download mode.

why did you download that when we have our own working (very well) version of CM10. Check the dev section there's a fix in there
Thanks anyway. Sprint is sending me a new phone
you would need to get it j-taged only way to get back to dl mode. jig wont save it
That's great your problem is fixed but what is a nexus s3

Hey everyone,
I tried flashing a new rom from my phone earlier and I think it may not have flashed successfully. I hit reboot after it was finished installing but my screen remains blank and the blue led remains lit. I have tried battery pulling and using the button combos to go into either recovery or download mode but I haven't had any luck. When I use the buttons to go into recovery or download mode the led blinks for a second as though it is recognizing the command but the screen remains blank and the led stays solid blue. I have tried hooking the phone up to my computer and ODIN doesn't seem to recognize it either. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone confirm if I am bricked? I would really appreciate some help. I have had this phone since the day it came out and have messed around with it quite a bit but I am out of ideas and have always been able to either boot into recovery or download mode Thanks in advance!
I would try a jig first. u can get one off ebay or make one. also if that doesn't work jtag maybe be your only option. hooe you can bring it to life man
What did you flash ? I was drunk as hell last night flashing a kernel in Odin in the phone section and wondering why it would never finish until I realized it was in phone not Pda .... I did it like 3 times before I finally fixed it got Cm7 back on it with no Baseband ... Funny now but odined a radio and all was fine.... The only thing that will usually F this phone up is flashing bootloader from int. Version that's a instant brick not fixable

I flashed the "tbm" FB17 rom which just came out today. I downloaded it directly to my phone so there is a possibility it could have been a bad download. Prior to that I was using Calkulin's stock FB17 deodexed rom which was released yesterday.
by chance did you use the touch recovery at all? lots of people have been bricking their devices lately using that.

any suggestions for someone that can get into odin, but phone stuck in SGSII screen bootloop?
i flashed the calk's fb17 deodex version, and it started this boot loop. i pulled battery, and odin'd back to stock el29. still stuck in sgsii bootloop. it's seems to be acting like e: partition doesn't exist.

If he's on stock recovery, he is pretty much screwed. If he had custom recovery, could probably get the phone running again, but USB would probably not work.
I had the similar experience two times.
First time - When I just started learning about this phone -
odined I9100.
Second time - accidently flashed M250 rom a week ago.
But in my case, I was able to go to DL mode and reflashed sfhub's one-click odin and problems were solved.

Nevermind, I failed to read that you can already get into download mode and that it is not recognized by odin.

I remember reading awhile back that you need to reinstall the drivers for the int version and it should be recognized then. Problem your friend has Odin thinks its the int version. Have him try that.

What did you use to flash your ROM. Bottom line is you need to try to get into download mode. I believe the key combo is hold down power + volume down + home. If that boots you into download mode just flash back to stock.

Looks like you're most likely hard bricked. That's an HTC One X ROM. Looking at the installer script, it uses mount points that don't match the d2att. It writes the system files to mmcblk0p12, which is the modem on our phone. Also, it writes the kernel to mmcblk0p4, which is also incorrect (I think it's for boot screen images?). Sorry.
Wado unfortunately I've hard bricked two S3's so I know how you feel it's a sinking feeling indeed. I have learned from my foolish mistakes though. I feel for you man.

SO i was playing dead trigger and wanted to gave tegra 3 optimizations so i downloaded Chainfire 3D from the play store and i installed the drivers and it rebooted my note 2, but it's stuck at the Galaxy Note 2 logo!! I can still use vol up+home+power and vol down+home+power, i tried factory reset in CWM, still stuck, tried flashing new rom (CM, AOKP) still stuck, so now i just want my phone back up and running again. Anyone know how to fix it problem? I don't need any apps or data back or root back, just back up and running again. Oh and charging still shows the battery picture, and i can still turn off my phone.

I tried using CWM recovery but it says error
Why do so many people on xda have such a hard time understanding what "bricked" means.
If you can easily fix it, then it isn't "bricked"
It's bricked if it has to go for jtag
If you read the description for chainfire 3d, it distinctly says "not compatible with ICS/Jellybean" so theres your problem why u have troubles... a factory reset might not be the fix. ODIN may be the only way.

Yeah it's because they can't get the phone to come back on. So that's why they think it's bricked. Plus it's the only word they know and heard of. There's also soft brick, stuck in a loop, etc. But most of the time when the phone stops working correctly, most thinks it's bricked! Lol

For me, even "soft brick" is a stupid term..
A phone is either bricked or not bricked. If it is bricked, there is no fixing it imo (other than jtag)
Odin will fix this, this happened to my S2 while I'm on JB. Just download the latest odin, and the stock rom of your Note 2, probably you can find the rom on sammobile, google will help you out, PM me if you need any assistance. Just relax, it's not broken.

If you hard bricked your phone, the jig probably isn't going to work. If it does then you need to find the stock tar file from the forums and install that with Odin. Once you have the phone back stock you can use a usual method of rooting/installing a custom recovery
