PC Requirements - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok have searched around, and have found nothing before asking.
I started rooting back when I had the Samsung Moment, Yeah, while back.
Anyhow, I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly....when you rooted(even when windows 7 came out) it was required to have xp files in it.
Having Windows Home Edition should be Ok right? I have not tried and trickling last thoughts and asking if need be before I flash!
Have not seeen in any root directions for siii that anything else was needed except Windows PC!!

If I remember correctly my tech buddy from school told me that windows 7 and xp are related to each other in that there are xp files that allow windows 7 to run lightly in the ram just like xp.
And btw you should be dine one home edition that's what I rooted my s3 from.

Windows Mobile 5 to Mobile 6

Hi Guys
I am new to windows mobile, bought an O2 XDA Mini s recently and its great fr what i use it for, however i wanted to get a bigger memory card to put in it and bought a 4gb one
Seems that i didnt check and the Mini s wont read the card - someone said that its because Windows Mobile 5 will not read anything above 2gb, however windows mobile 6 will
So my question is, How do i change mine from Windows 5 to Windows 6 - where do i get the software from, is it easy to do for a novice ( i have some idea of computers, but dont know if this is the same ) - also os it specific to the device, or is it a general program ?
Also, the only reason i want to change is so it reads the card, so if theres an easy ption to upgrade the windows 5 drivers or whatever then thats also fine
Thank you
Wayne
Search ????
Hi wayne !
Up to right Corner of your Screen ... there is your best Friend .... the "SEARCH" Button ...
KLICK AND USE IT !
GRTX
TOggER
And that just brings up Thousands of threads of which none seem to be related to what i am looking for and dont answer the questions
Like do i need a specific windows mobile 6 for my XDA, or is it the same for all phones
Where is best to get the program from
and is it as simple as instaling a program on a PC ?
If i am using the search wrong please feel free to link to the thread i am looking for
"Like do i need a specific windows mobile 6 for my XDA, or is it the same for all phones"
you need a rom which is 100% made for your device no other would work
or if you had success putting it on would make your device a rather expensive brick
"Where is best to get the program from"
the manufactor of your device or a person who spend a good deal of time
making one suited for your device
"and is it as simple as instaling a program on a PC ?"
no not really it's mostly don in the boot loader while the device is connected
to the pc using usb and it whipes all data stored on the device
cheers for that, looks like it wot be as simple as downloading and running likei had wanted
will have to have a look around then
SDHC Drivers
Hi,
If getting your device to read higher capacity cards is the only reason you want to upgrade to WM6, then there's no need to do this. Instead, just find yourself SDHC drivers, install them on your device and that's it!
Search XDA for SDHC drivers or something, or check out my website, Downloads sections. The drivers there may or may not work for you, but I am sure XDA has a few different to choose among.

windows 7 rom

do you think it will be possible for devs to use that windows 7 launcher and create a rom thats similar to the windows 7 os
There's a thread in the general/development sectional floating around to get a windows phone 7 port.
thanks sorry i didnt look
Yea here is the thread...... I think it's a long shot.

As far as i know its impossible to run win 7, but you can run win xp or 95 or 93 on it but it will be super laggy and also awkward.
But if you talking about running windows app on android, wine team is working on it (idk if they still working on it or abandoned it).
Just a theory if you can chmod linux on your tablet and you should be able to get wine working and you can run win apps with it...

Hi Jacker31, & gjost_j
It is posible to do virtual xp and previous. Seach the forum for "Bosh".
It was compiled a few years ago for all arm base devices. But at tha time ther were no x86!
Itry to compile it but could not got over some errors.
So yes if we could find a good sourse we may give it a try!
Look
Using remote desktop (i.e. Teamviewer or Splashtop) is a much better solution than actually installing Windows.
@r2d23cpo
This remind me this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUE-gJmcGKk few years back then. Trust me, Its not worth it to try *I tried before and it lags like hell*
@Jacker31 and others
I never said it is worth it. How to run Windows on android ? thats the title.
Still I will like to have it handy. You never know of a real need that may make it give you go into this trouble. Please keep in mind that all those programs where made available only for ARM! And you will will find lots of info, none for x86 tablet.
Now I do can run Ubuntu in VNC mode, it lags but work. In fact I have it handy with Open Office. It is my main project to try run Ubuntu Natively. But I have post pone all projects due to health issues.

J,
hi, how much ram did you allocate to the emulator ?
i had a thought of using bosch to run a minimal pe windows [minixp]
i'm going to try 800mb ram on the tab 4, on the tab 3 i believe only the p5220 would
have enough ram available for a semi-decent run.
@ghost_j1
Else i think the only solution is ssh/vnc as long as your connect is reliable.
@r2d23cpo
r2, get better soon ! you've got work to do !

Windows 10 ??

I know it's not a specific M8 question but, does anyone think there'll be "issues" with windows 10 and adb/fastboot commands when using custom recovery/ROMs ?
Based on Windows 10 preview experience, should not have issues.

ive been using Windows 10 as my main driver now on my system for a couple of months now, currently on build 10130 fast ring, and having no issues what so ever with anything, all of my drivers etc are working without problems, HTC sync manager for the drivers only installed fine.
I did have to modify my printer driver and the Intel Rapid storage app for my RAID config to get them to install, but that's the only 2 apps ive had problems with, some older games don't work either.
on a different note, Windows 10 totally rocks with Start10 Start menu, still hate the new start menu live tiles, but anyone looking to purchase it, just buy a cheap Windows 7 genuine license key off ebay for £29 GBP, download windows 7 ISO from Microsoft site and get an upgrade to Windows 10 for free, why pay £300 for a new OS when you can have it for £29.

Windows on Note

Hi,
I've a GT-N5110 and I was wondering if there's any Windows 10 emulator or if anyone tried to install on it. I couldn't find anything on the forum.
Tks!
Interesting Topic..
I will search for you on that and I will get back to you if I found anything.
MSDN
Your best bet is a remote desktop to a windows PC. It actually works very well on the Note 8, with the pen.

Doesnt have someway to port this to other devices?
You can install windows directly onto your android device. But I wouldn't recommend it as it takes up allot of space.
Yes you can install windows xp https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389700
I tried to but it's very slow and anything works. I mean wifi bluetooth etc etc
