I was just wondering if I should stick with the stock kernel that comes with task and ktoonez ROM or switch to ktoonez's kernel for even more butter/battery life?

I'm not entirely sure if using ktoonez kernel will give you better battery life but you can overclock his kernel which could make things a bit smoother. You can also undervolt his kernel too which is a nice feature.

You should really advise someone that doesn't know to try both and see which one better suites the device in particular. All devices are not created equally and they all react differently to different kernels. While you may get better battery life with that kernel I do not. And so on and so on down the line.

+1 I also get better battery on stock aokp kernel. And on KT kernel I can't get voltage control to stick all of the time and my phone bugs out from min being at 192.

Yes, i use it with aokp nightlies. It's fast and great battery life too.
I'm using Trinity and I'm very happy with it! Very smooth!
To be honest here, I tried so many different kernels and the battery life is about same. Really. Performance and color wise, it is different, but Franco, Trinity, Popcorn, Stock, and Faux has almost same battery life unless you actually do something to it. If you really want that little bit of battery though, Trinity squeezes about 10~30minutes more screen on time thanks to undervolting, but I use Franco, because I like the performance on this bad boy and I can also undervolt on this and get about same battery life as Trinity.
So you can literally use any custom kernel and expect same battery life with a little bit of customization and tweaks.
I've only unlocked and rooted for 2days, primarily to be on yakju and get timely updates.
So far i've tried trinity, fugu and franco's kernel...but my phone seems to be allergic to trinity and fugu, so im sticking with franco for now..next im gonna experiment on OC n UV...see how things go then.
+ another for franco. It does give my phone a bit more snap with about the same to a little better battery than stock. Games run noticeably smoother also*

Yes, but be careful when you're undervolting. Make sure that you uncheck "apply on boot" and use "Stability Test" app from Play Store to see if your currenty voltage is stable

you would need to reflash your rom with trinity the first time, since franco kernel uses it own ramdisk. you want trinity to grab the roms ramdisk, not francos.

Used both Franco and Trinity. Franco has a bit more batt life, but Trinity has better default color values.
Franco has more frequencies, but Trinity has more governors and i/o schedulers

Personally I prefer Kt747 kernel. First of the big up with KT747 is the KTweaker app that comes with it that allows you to OC your phone to 2106 MHz and makes it easier to undervolt, plus, it has a lock frequencies option the lock down frequencies so apps can not change them. The other big up is the ktoonservative CPU governor that comes with it that really improves battery life. You can also backup your preference to your sdcard so if you try new voltage and it gets too unstable you can easily go back to your most stable settings.
That being said both are really good kernel the best way to find out is to flash them and try them, then you can choose which one you'll keep.

Ktoon's kernel seems to be updated more often than faux. I haven't tried faux's kernel though.
I also use KToons kernel. The KTweaker app is awesome. I wouldn't use anything right now in my opinion.

If you're into underclocking and tweaking with your governor, go ktoonsez. For the light user, I've found much better battery life on faux's kernel, as it performs quite well in deep sleep. Just my 2c.

This is very true. Faux might have just moved on tbh.. But with that said it could be final as is unless new firmware gets released then he will change.

It's really going to vary from person to person. Try them out and see. Underwear is great but KT747 gives you more control through overclocking and undervolting, and more governors, etc.
Just so you know. The is no "best" kernel and no one can answer this for you. The reason being is that not all devices are created equally and these devices act different to different kernels and different settings. So for someone to tell you that you will get better battery life on either one would be a lie. You just need to play around with them and their different settings in order to find which one works best for your particular device.

Just matter of what works vest with our phone....lean kernel works best for me personally where as the others make my phone hot or drain it faster. Deviant works best for my friend whereean makes her phone hot....just try all the popular kernels for two full charges and see which gives better battery life.....and doesn't blow up your phone with the heat

Not sure why this was bumped but in case anyone is still following along, all kernels preform differently for all devices. Your best bet is to try them all. When I have a new device it may sound weird and all, I flash the kernel with the most thread views and try them in descending order. This way you are trying what appears to be giving most people the best results and if you don't like your results ,continue your venture.
For Touchwiz I prefer however kt747 simply because Team Kernelizer has some awesome files for undervolting. The other kernels are pretty swell too.

So far I think staying stock is just as good as running a developed kernel for this particular ROM imho, especially when you want to get the most battery. I use SetCPu and will run min 486 and Max 1350/1404. SmartassV2 and Zen or cfq governors. I don't play many games on my phone, I have tablets for that and they are tweaked as high as I can go and be stable. It's all about what you use your phone for, most times when I benchmark it seems the higher frequency I push my score actually will get worse, might be I'm need to up my voltage, but I don't mess with voltages much. I will follow the developers guidelines for undervolting if I'm trying to squeeze that extra life, but I don't worry about it that much. Best way for me to extend my battery life is start turning things off when they're not needed. All the things I try with my devices I have learned by reading on the XDA forums, and by far the developers for our GS3's are the best and I'm very thankful for all they give up to give us these awesome roms, kernels, and not forgetting about the theme developers to make or phones run fast, operate smoothly, and look great. Without them might as well buy a fruit product, just kidding I would get a flip phone before I would do that. .... This was meant to be a quick reply, just got off a 14 hr work day and I'm just rambling a little, I hope my reply makes sense.

I'm running Synergy right now with faux. Uv - 50 1134 386 with intellidemand and deadline io. Been getting good battery life.
Been looking over the att threads I'm about to try one of their roms since there are a couple with a little more tweaks that also include multi Window plus other goodies.
