Hi folks,
I've just got my new One X and there's a 35mb system update available. Before I go ahead and install it, I thought I'd check with you to ask if it has any detrimental effect at all? I'm presuming it's OK?
What software version are you on at the mo?
Hi Eddy, it's just the standard 1.28.401.9.
It'll be the 1.29 update - do it!
Just make sure you're unplugged when you do - it won't update when plugged in
OK. What does it add, if anything? :good:
A few stability tweaks more than anything, definitely worth updating to
You should be able to get to 1.29.401.11, there are a number of bug fixes, I can't remember them all, but should be listed in the requisite posts.
Big ones for the .11 are screen flickering and lost SD card space, they don't affect everybody.
Great stuff, many thanks!
OR, if you've not set it up much yet, flash the 1.29.401.12 RUU to be 100% up-to-date

Good plan.
I've just set it up and it's on charge at the mo, I'll play safe and just take the OTA.

The RUU is just as safe as OTA, but will delete your data.
It has a new radio that has been said to fix some mobile data connection issues. It's been rolled out to some Nordic countries so far.
There were 2 OTAs, the 1st to .07 and the 2nd to .11 as you mentioned. :good:

The reason for the update is to repair some issues that select EVO's are having with the included microSD card.

not sure its due tomorrow but should be in next few days

I won't be. I just thought it would be beneficial to tell the folks here.
For anyone tempted to accept the OTA, or any update from Sprint or HTC, take a little visit to the Hero forum.

If it's the same as the G1, then all you have to do is refuse the update. It will ask you if you want to update, just say no. Correct me if I'm wrong or it's been changed.

Easy:
Step 1. Do not go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates
At least that's how it is on my CDMA Hero running Aloysius 2.1.

this is true. should be the same on the evo. once we make a rooted version, the reminder will go away. it should take no more then an hour for the update to be rooted and uploaded. so be patient, most likely its not going to be a life altering update to froyo. itll just be a patch update

the phone will have to download the update to the sdcad and require u to reboot into recovery if that were the case. im not sure as ive never seen this happen first hand. all the OTA's ive senn just came up with a notice saying... you have a software update availible. wwhen u click it, it will take u to setting and ask if u would like to download it now. u can say no. but if u say yes it will download and when its finished, ask u if u would like to reboot to apply the update. if u say no again ur still in the green. if u say yes it will take u to hboot (bootloader) menu. at this point it will searche for the update on the sdcard, validate and flash it. this is how it worked on my wifes Eris at least and the CDMA hero worked the same way. note this though. Sprint doesnt seem to like doing full rom updates via OTA. they have in the past always made the update avail via the Sprint support site. this was the case for both the Moment and the HeroC. again thi isnt for certain things will work this way on the Evo. but im assuming HTC/Sprint wouldnt bother changing their methods all of a sudden just for the Evo. but again anything is posible
i may just have them hand me a box then, and tell them i will activate at home. i can pull the sd card and use my N1 to put the files on it, and boot straight into bootloader, flash, then do the recovery dance, all before said phone looks for updates.
thanks for the heads up about auto checking. maybe some of the nice folks on the east coast that are going to have the phone 2 hours before i will can post up whether or not this happens, once they get theirs

From the Evo Manual:
Updating Your Device’s System Software
From time to time, system software updates for your device may be available. Your device can automatically
check and then notify you if an update is available. You can then download and install the update to your
device. Depending on the type of update, the update may erase all your personal data and customized
settings, and also remove any programs you have installed. Make sure that you have backed up the
information and files you want to keep.
To check for phone system software updates manually
1. Press > and then tap Settings > System updates > HTC software update.
2. On the System software updates screen, tap Check now.

I checked this morning if there are system updates available for my Desire. Luckily i found one but decided to download it later.
Now i just tried again to search for this update but it keeps telling me that there are no updates available.
I allready tried rebooting - doesnt help.
I guess, that my decission is stored in cache somewhere - but i don't know where exactly
Anyone knows a solution, how I can find my update again?
I have the same issue. Canceled the OTA as i was on a pulic wifi and busy... no it tells me there is no update, but I have 1.15...
Same issue, Canceled OTA update while it was downloading, and now it says there is no update.
I'm pretty sure that's not the case, I checked several times over the last few days and declined the installation every time. After seeing your thread I tried again and the update doesn't appear anymore.
I wouldn't have installed it in the first place so not too big of a loss but mysterious non the less.
apparently htc took if off for the moment as many people were having issues with it, i did get it last nite on my tmob uk and luckily everything seems alrite so far
Thx for your feedbacks
I just called T-mobile, they said i should try to make a factory reset, but actually I don't want to reset all my settings again
Anyone likes to try that?
No you shouldn't do that. Most definitely the update has been pulled by htc. I don't think a factory reset would help really.

Thx to both of you.
Seems like we just have to wait
I am wondering if they just did this in UK or everywhere...
Same problem here in the netherlands with an unbranded htc desire.
I got an unbranded UK Desire, and can also confirm that i cant see the update...
if it's been pulled, what does it mean for those of us who grabbed the update?
i mean if they tweak it or something, will there be a seperate minor corrective update for us - or nothing?
i presume there would be something since otherwise we'll have different versions of the OS running
hTc Followup?
Has anyone heard anything more about this update from htc?
I downloaded the update on my Desire when it first pushed, and it works brilliantly for me. But my girlfriend who has a Desire also, have never recieved the OTA push notification, and can not see it when searching for updates.
Must have been withdrawn the same day as it was released...
BTW: I have NetCom Carrier (Norway), and my girlfriend has Telenor (Norway)
HTC just released over the air update for the one x....check it out

LOL
As far as I heard back from people already using 1.28, it seems to have some battery draining issues and other problems occurring, so I guess I'll skip this and will wait for ROMs to adapt the best out of this OTA update.
If more positive comments are posted here, however, I might still think about giving it a shot
What's the kernel version for 1.28? And can somebody verify if the nvcplsvc.apk in the correct place? Thanks.

Nothing here yet - I'm on 1.26 on Voda in the UK - are they rolling it out, or should it be available everywhere?
available in Belgium
Available on O2 in the UK
I've click installed and its been stuck on the black screen with the two green arrows and phone for around 10 minutes?
Does anyone whose flashed the update know how long it will take?
Thanks!
Exciting update but i already rooted my device and installed CWM. And now i have no idea what i should do because i want to try the new OTA update (no idea what OTA actually mean lol) but with the CWM i getting some ugly error messages after downloading the update and restarting the phone for applying it.
Should i wait for Revolution ROM build on 1.28 or look for How to get rid off CWM and lock the device again for OTA update?
And also please give me link or a guide what should i do if i want to RELOCK the device again, havent find anything in my briefly look on HTCdev web, there are just info how to unlock it.

Wait for ARHD update, mike already said it would be out today, so not long to wait.
To re-lock - fastboot oem lock
Update
Im on O2 and im still waiting lol
Kernel version
the kernel version is still 2.6, to be exact 2.6.39.4-g86aa4d. I don't think anything changed here... nVidia should work harder on getting 3.0 to work :\
If anyone cares: baseband is 1.1204.103.14.
I don't have any battery draining issues so far, it seems to me the banding actually got a little better, so they may have fixed at least some of the rendering related problems. GPU can still not be enabled, though.
P.S: I'm on an unbranded device. I might get Zen Pinball later, to see if that was fixed...
Hi - I'm in the UK and have bought two One X's from Amazon. The first is fine, the second isn't (it was bought in the Amazon Warehouse and is pre-owned but "as-new").
1 The first phone found the 1.28 update immediately on setup after connecting to wi-fi. The second won't update, even after doing a manual check and is still on 1.26.401.2. From what I've read if the phone is "unbranded"/not originally locked to any provider it should be ready for the update. How do I check this?
2 The LED on the second is tiny - it's the size of the end of a pin whereas the other phone has a much bigger, more visible light.
Thanks in advance for any questions. I have searched for similar problems but came up with nothing (sorry if I missed answers that are already posted on here or elsewhere)
1. Flash the 1.29 RUU - job done!
2. Can't say I've noticed this but you could be right
Thanks, but I'm hoping not to flash this device. Is there any was of checking if the phone is tied to a provider or why it doesn't want to update to 1.28?
If it's running x.xx.401.x then it's an unbranded handset so flashing the RUU won't affect anything with regards to warranty as it's the official ROM file. OK, it means wiping the phone but at least you're up-to-date!

Ok, thanks again. I was really hoping to figure out what the problem is here so I understand how the updating works - if you say I do infact have an unbranded handset, I don't understand why it won't update. Does the update server go down occupationally or does it just mean I have an issue with the handset itself?
Greetings ,
Im new to this phone so i need some help with an issue if possible, i unlocked bootloader, installed cwm, and then flashed Google play Edition for HTC one ,afterwards i wiped data and cache and then restored stock rom ,current version 4.2.2 more info photo #2. Maybe I am not following you completely...but why would you try to take an OTA when you are unlocked and rooted?
Second, I don't believe there are any OTA updates for the Vzw One as of yet.
It looks like you attempted to install an update for the European/International HTC One.
Why you are trying to do so, I'm not sure.
But you don't wanna install that, even if you could...

Well, I assumed you had the Verizon HTC One, since you posted in the Vzw One forums.
If you have the International One, you may wanna post in the relevant forums.
Folks will be much more capable of helping you with roms/software intended for your model over there.
The OTA will not install while you are unlocked and running a Custom Recovery.
Try finding a rooted version of the latest OTA version for your device in your device's Development forums.
That would be the best, most appropriate way to update the stock software while staying rooted and unlocked.

Thanks! I haven't yet.
I have gone back and forth about it quite a bit. (still thinking about it every day, lol)
Can't really give up or don't want to give up my Unlimited though.
Since someone was very kind and gave me a DNA a little while back, I may stick with it for now.
Still a vast improvement over the 'ol Thunderbolt, though I loved it too for quite some time.
There has been some talk of some very kind folks pitching in to help me get a One though.
So that way, I can keep my Unlimited and hopefully work on both the One and the DNA in the not too distant future.

This. AND NEVER TAKE AN UPDATE WHEN ROOTED AND HAVE CUSTOM RECOVERY. Lol every single time you boot into recovery it should flash this message as a reminder. Why would anyone take an OTA in all reality?
