So I read in the forum and can not find any thing on it.
So will it work with bad ESN?

Why would this be, I taught this was a world phone, and should work on AT&T 3G frequency.

our phone support the UMTS/HSPA 900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz and that's why u getting only edge and not 3G Verizon made it that people couldn't use the phone on other networks in the US.

So I recently switched from the Galaxy S3 LTE phone to the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ phone, but my account still says that I'm using an LTE device. My question is will this effect my data speeds? Currently I'm getting around 4 to 5 mbps on speed test. With my the last Hspa+ phone I had I would get around 10 mbps.

So you're on AT&T I'm assuming. They provision LTE SIMs and HSPA+ SIMs differently, unfortunately, and this can adversely affect performance. I'd call them and ask them to provision it differently as an HSPA+ device.
4-5mbps is about normal though. I wouldn't be expecting too much more.

Until recently I have been with Sprint. And I am located in South Florida.
I am considering going with Simple Mobile as I'm told that T-Mobile has one of the best data speeds in this area. And I want to get a Galaxy S3 as the phone to use with this service.
Can anyone here advise as to whether this would work with Simple Mobile (I called them but they won't say anything only that they don't don't support it - meaning they don't sell it so don't bother them), at what speeds?
I also assume that I must get the T-Mobile version of this phone. That seems quite difficult unless I want to pay a big premium to T-Mobile, who charges much more than say AT&T for their version. So if anyone has any suggestions where I can get one (I would prefer a store, not eBay)?
Thanks
try the xda marketplace
edit: nvm just saw you dont have enough posts.
I read that the Sprint variant of the S3 would work on T-Mobile. You just have to unlock the phone I believe.
Sent from my S3
I remember negri sells the phone for $599 unlocked. That's the cheapest I've seen for the TMobile version. It's not cheaper by much but it's unlocked and you may save on taxes.

Sprint is cdma and T-Mobile is GSM. How are you going to stick a sim card in that sprint phone?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
My wife is using it on Simple Mobile. It works great.
Simple Mobile is a Mvno of t-mobile so you don't need to have an unlocked T999. Just change the apn. A's far as speeds. I live in Central Florida and I get the same speeds as t-mobile. I recommended. As far as where to buy the phone. I went to t-mobile and paid $599 for it. Haven't really seen it cheaper.

It does have a sim slot but it's not user accessible.
It's hidden behind the plastic under the battery.
Sprint has taken this approach with all there LTE devices.
The only exception may be the Photon Q since it's touted as being a global device.

So she did get 4G from simple mobile or only edge speed?
Also did she get MMS problem? I saw someone open a thread says he have MMS issue. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791451)
i was just looking through the specs of this phone and noticed that it runs on HSDPA.... that said, is it true that we dont get HSPA+ speeds???
I dont understand why tmobile says they have HSPA+42 4g speed, and they sell us a phone thats not capable of that??
am i wrong here??? straighten me out!
Technically you will never get that 42mb speed... That's under perfect conditions.
The highest I got on 4G is 30mbps. And upload close to 3.
So I do think the s3 has hspa+

HSPA = HSDPA + HSUPA
HSPA - High Speed Packet Access
U - Uplink
D - Downlink
Yes our phones are HSPA.

from you saying that its the same thing, i should be fine??

Yes it has the data bands compatible with tmobile. The galaxy nexus was the same way.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
ok because someone told me that its not the same band and i will be stuck on EDGE... thats good to know
Yes they are the same. HSPA, HSPA+21, HSPA+42 are all basically HSPA tech. Its just improved over time. HSDPA/HSUPA are just referring to one direction within the HSPA network.
HSDPA is the downlink connection, while HSUPA refers to the uplink. Up and down are separated like this because they proviide different speeds. Down is a lot faster than up.
Our phone, the T999 is capable of HSPA+42 speeds.
Check out my modem thread in the development section stickies. At the bottom of the 3rd post are links to some articles that may interest you.

Please confirm if the Samsung Galaxy Nexus bought from Wind Mobile in Canada work with Mobilicity Canada & T-mobile & AT&T in the US?

do you have the GSM model? (i'm assume yes since its CAN) if so, yes it will work fine.
I don't have a sgn yet but I'm thinking of getting one from wind mobile in Canada. But I plan to move to NYC soon just wanted to make sure it will work on tmobile and at&t in the states. The wind mobile sgn is GSM.

I'm not sure if Wind has changed their systems in the last few months, but I was told you have to have a phone that supports AWS 1700/2100. I was told my Sony Xperia, that supports both freqs wouldn't work. I don't know who to trust.

If I unlocked my Hercules and used at&t prepaid and flashed a skyrocket radio would I be able to use their data? And also would the data be just as fast?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Yes I think so might just have to change APN settings
How do you do that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I'm not for sure you may not have to. I only know how to change APN on a iPhone. You should be OK with just an unlocked t989 and radio change
I believe you could use it, but it would only be 2g because at&t uses LTE for their high speed networks. The physical radio itself in our Hercules just doesn't support it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
But a att radio should fix that
No, not the software radio. That will give you the 2G signal, but we don't have the actual physical hardware to run full speed on at&t's network. That's part of why the Hercules has a different processor, the one in the international/att sII wouldn't work with tmo's hspa network.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
You would be able to use your Hercules on AT&T but if the fast data you're referring to is 4G LTE, then no, you won't get that because the Hercules doesn't have the hardware needed to support it. You would get HSPA+ though.

On Verizon phones you can turn off 4g to only use 3g why would it not be the same

T-Mobile's 3G/4G networks run on the same bands so you can't block something on one band and only let the other thing work. I guess Verizon has different bands for 3G/4G.

I hope i'm not hijacking here but I have a similar question. I'm in an at&t lte market and was considering using my t989 with at&t via straightalk. Would I be better off to sell my phone and get a "true" at&t phone that does LTE?

If you use Straight Talk, then no matter what phone you use, you won't get LTE so it doesn't matter if you use a T989 or an AT&T phone.
