S3 / SAMSUNG MHL Adapter - reboots - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I purchased an official samsung MHL adapter. For some strange reason, at times, the phone will reboot itself when I plug the MHL adapter in? I am running stock rom/kernal rooted. Any ideas?

Phone could be seeing that as some type of jig. Was the mhl adapter brand new or used?

[Q] MHL Connection

I bought my mhl adapter and I am running a stock base rooted. Just removed carrier iq and a few other apps. Just using the phone bone stock. However, when I connect the mhl adapter and and hdmi cable the other end, nothing shows up on my tv. Why is that? Do I need a specific mhl adapter for the t-989? I am using my mhl adapter for my i900 which should work fine for my t989. RIGHT???

[Q] Best MHL Adapter for Galaxy Nexus i9250 (Google Play GSM model)?

Title says it all
I will say the original one,
serach for EIA2UHUNBEC or EPL-3FHUBEG, the EPL-3FHUBEG is for S3, but will work with Nexus.
BTW if you itrested in dock, try that:
http://www.kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1356
http://www.kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1355
and buy a cheap MHL adapter
Thanks! I found this one by Samsung. Going to get this one probably.

With MHL, do I need an actual HDMI cable to combine with it? Or would it just connect the MHL from my phone directly to my tv?

You need a hdmi cable and a power source (the phones wall charger) plugged into the mhl adapter I believe.

Id just like to thank you sir/ma'am because I bought an hdmi adapter off ebay and I thought it was broken, but I was just using a usb port for my power supply and did not realize that it needed to be from a wall outlet.
Sir. Glad to help.

I am looking to buy the EPL-3FHUBEG for my Nexus. Is it certain that it will work with the Nexus ?
Hello, I purchased the Samsung MHL adapter (EIA2UHUNBEC) from Amazon.com some time ago when I originally purchased my Galaxy Nexus.
I never actually got it to work, when I plug it in with the HDMI to my TV or monitor + wall charger the phone just reboots, and then it just remains in a boot loop until i disconnect the MHL adapter.
Please note is that my Galaxy Nexus is a original NTT docomo SC-04D, but as far as I know it is supposed to be the same hardware as the GT-i9250.
Anyone have this problem, I've tried it on custom roms (CM/AOKP/Minco) and stock roms from 4.0.4 to 4.2.1.
Bought EPL-3FHUBEGSTA
And it didn't work with Galaxy Nexus. I'll try again...but no big hopes.

I have this one since June 2012 and it has worked perfectly....
... but been using my Chromecast instead since available.

Confirmed: Samsung 5 to 11 pin MHL HDTV tip works with any MHL HDMI Adapter

Sorry if this was already posted but I just got the Samsung EPL-FU10BEBSTD (whoever comes up with these names should be shot) MHL 5 to 11 pin adapter.
I tested it on three different generic MHL adapters and it works perfectly. In other words, if you have an existing adapter and don't need USB OTG along with it, save your money and get this thing instead. I bought mine from CCM accessories on Amazon and received it in 2 days for $9.99.

Does everything you'd expect from an MHL adapter, mirror display, Netflix etc...
I'm assuming this is the same thing despite the model number difference?

Got a question, does this adapter has a hook up for charging cable? If yes does it work with the charger plugged either into this or the genetic mhl cable that you hook to the adapter?

No it is just MicroUSB in and MicroUSB out - the power will come from your MHL adapter.

Yes - and MHL adapters don't even work when not powered. In my case, my S3 setup is:
HDMI Cable > MHL Adapter + MicroUSB charger > Samsung 5 to 11 pin adpater > S3.
Thanks for checking. My MHL cable and adapter shipped out today. Can't wait to get them
Here's the official samsung video showing it in action uploaded since the 12th...

Official MHL adapter with OTG, how does OTG work in this case?

Hopefully somebody who has htis can shed some light on it.
If you're using MHL hdmi out, the unused micro USB port on the adapter needs to be fed power, correct?
So does that mean that if you're outputting via HDMI that you cannot utilize the USB OTG? Or will you have to use a powered hub to simultaneously drive the HDMI output and the USB OTG peripherals?
I don't think it will work like that. I tried plugging my OTG cable with a powered usb hub into the micro USB port on my MHL adapter. Even without an HDMI cable connected my phone would not detect my wireless mouse and keyboard.
Are you using the official mhl adapter?

Weird, the whole point of Samsung going with the 11 pin was to enable USB OTG. Maybe it doesn't work with the adapter?
I guess I'll find out, the official adapter is in the mail, should be here Thurs.
Of course it wouldn't work with the adapter and an older cable. The adapter is only rearranging a 5pin power cable and hdmi to match the 11pin in the phone. 6 pins in the phone are still not used.
If I remember ill try it with the official S3 adapter later.

i also really want to know if the samsung 11 pin (not adapter) will work with a powered USB hub and OTG ..
I think I saw somewhere that the adapter for the s2 and s3 are different. Don't know much just wanted to throw my 2 cents in

I was wondering if this would work so I won't have to buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and just use a USB combo with a powered hub instead:
Official MHL adapter -> hdmi to monitor

Combination of MHL Adapter and HDMI Cable?

Hi Guys,
Is there any direct cable which directly connects our SGS3 to TV...basically a combination of MHL Adapter and HDMI Cable !!
sent from the BEaST Galaxy S3
Not unless you get the MHL adapter tip and use one of those cables with it.
If you have an mhl enabled tv it will work, because that one gives power.

It you have an MHL enabled tv then you don't need an adapter but just a cable like this instead
