Ok so I believe I bricked my phone. Currently all it does is boot to the HTC quietly brilliant screen, blink, then HTC quietly brilliant over and over forever. I am able to enter the Hboot no problem, but Recovery and Factory Reset don't help the problem.
Just so you know what I've done:
1) Started with the intention of rooting: Which now seems impossible due to me updating to the 2012 system update released before I realized it makes all the rooting instruction impossible to do.
2) I was able to UNLOCK the Hboot but the program that you normally run before hand would not work, so I did it all manually and successfully.
Current Hboot info is:
***UNLOCKED***
MarvelC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.10.0001
Microp-0354
Radio-0.94.00.0109
Apr 17 2012, 18:21:30 - I'm assuming this is the line that ruined rooting for me.
3) Tried and read every single program/walkthrough out there nothing works at all.
4) Today I tried using Hasoon2000's HTC Wildfire All in one kit.
5) Attempted to flash the recovery - thought it worked
6) As I knew about the system update mentioned above Apr17, 2012 I attempted to Flash the kernal with the boot rom inside the "RUU_Marvel_Virgin_Mobile_1.37.351.1_Radio_47.10.3 5.3029H_7.46.35.08_release_188032_signed". It went through and said everything worked perfectly. Upon restarting my phone is now stuck on the perpetual loop mentioned above and useless.
7) Booting into Hboot and attempting Flash does nothing as everything is still blocked it seems by that damm patch. Rooting using this program did not work either. I attempted to root from the Hboot USB promt (it was my only choice after the Brick)
Any assistance or ideas or leads really anything would be nice. I hope I supplied enough details.

At what point of "rooting" were you at.. and which method were you using to "root"
the 2012 update made no difference to my NON marvel C handset when rooting via the official HTCdev method.
I'm not sure what you did... clockwork mod recovery installed?
I have abused my HTC & in the last 2 weeks has had about 10 diff rooms on it... I'm finding it hard to brick.. only soft brick

I've been abusing it as well, this is the first time I've run into issue, but then again this is the first time I used this program and tried to see if I could roll back that system update with the KERNEL flash. That's the point at which all hell broke loose.

Really I'm not going to get any help at all? The Phone can't be Rooted so it's not rooted, just Unlocked HBoot as mentioned. It's in a constant Boot Loop.

Well I was able to get the phone to reboot by Fastboot flashing after extracting the rom.zip from the
RUU_Marvel_Virgin_Mobile_1.37.351.1_Radio_47.10.35.3029H_7.46.35.08_release_188032_signed
file, but the userdata, radio and recovery portions would not pass the Signatures portion.
So I'm unable to connect with my Wifi or The Phones network. Any ideas from here?
Sounds like a boot lopped have you tried flashing any roms?

LOL hey sorry my phone died and I was at work all last night.
You say its just in a perpetual boot loop... I had this with a "dodgy rom" install when I first started messing around. I managed to fix the issue with a complete wipe of SD card - formatted in the PC - then dalvic cach, cache etc... some "paid for" versions of App2sd etc that are patched or cracked also give loads of probs.
Stupic question, have you formatted / cleaned all aspects of mem card and phone acsessable files using the HBOOT.
When mine did it I just installed a fresh rom (cyanogen mod 10.1) and it worked again. without the reovery / install from SD isnt there I'm stumped.... noobie strikes... sorry
I'll have a read though... see what I can come up with.
I see from the Kernal You tried was for a MARVEL not MARVELC.... im sure the two should never be mixed up or bricking will happen
i'll get back to you later if i find anything out mate.

From reading the tread properly, it seems a flash of the MARVEL Kernal onto a MARVELC phone is where the propblem lies.. Im pretty sure you should never mix the two... I could be wrong though - my wife tells me I often am! lol
good luck Drakons:good:
your best bet at this point is to flash a custom rom that is already rooted. you have the custom recovery already installed so just flash the rom. (whichever you like) for future reference the marvelc can be s-offed by placing the pj76diag.nbh onto the sdcard and booting to bootloader, allowing it to run and then selecting clean s58 data. once you have s-off you can supercid and then run any ruu that you want, should you ever get stuck in situations like this. where as the htcdev unlock blocks the use of ruu`s and pj76img.zips from bootloader

Hello Genius Friends,
I just bought a New HTC Desire HD but it says in phone Identity it is HTC Inspire(tm) 4G with Android OS 2.3.3 and HTC sense version 2.1
I have been roaming around the xda forums and its so confusing . what to do and what not to do
I basically just want my HTC DHD or HTC inspire tm 4G ..( whatever it is) to be upgraded from 2.3.3 ginger bread to 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich .
my phone is S-Off .. I can go to HBOOT thing by pressing power and vol-down key . but not rooted plus I have a feeling its from AT&T as it has some apps from AT&T (like AT&T code scanner, AT&T family Map, AT&T navigator, etc.. )
Can anyone tell me how can I upgrade my phone OS, I heard HTC has announced ice cream sandwich but I came to know it isnt available in my country yet !!

have you custom recovery?
go to bootloader and then to recovery. if you hace clockworldmod recovery (or 4ext rcovery) it´s so easy to get ICS or JB running in your phone

I know that before to upgrade to ICS or JB i need to root with those custom recovery roms
What should I do I m such a NOOB
you need:
htc drivers https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55810636/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
download this and extract in c: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55810636/Recovery.zip
install drivers whith your phone umplugged
plug the phone in charge mode and usb debugging enabled (settings/developer options)
let the drivers install
open cmd and write
cd c:\recovery\
adb reboot bootloader (your phone will reboot)
fastboot flash recovery ext4.img
fastboot reboot
if everything its ok you have now 4ext recovery installed
Download the Rom of your choice, put it in the sd, reboot in recovery, full wipe and flash the Rom

Well, you haven't installed a recovery. Placing it on the SD card does not install it. You need to find a recovery.img (not zip) and flash it from fastboot. What you are seeing is the stock recovery.

Quite honestly, if the Easy Ace Root Kit isn't user-friendly enough for you, you are going to have a rough ride. It automates something that is usually done manually (unlock bootloader, flash recovery, flash root), and that procedure is the easier of two (the other being getting S-Off).
As for the splash screen, read my signature.

@Pasculas and @bananagranola : yes bro I did that many times with AOS roms for HD in this community and got seriously bad luck, or either those roms have problems, before this phone i had WFS and i successfully updated to ICS from a rom available in this community; anyways this morning I found a ATT RUU gingerbread ..... (it was a big big name ) so i just installed it and THanks Fully it returned me back to 2.3.3 .... I wish i could atleast had 2.3.5 but all the Rooting and unlocking bootloader went off ! my phone is again only S-OFF .
In a mixed and sad emotion
I'm so confused. Are you S-Off or is your bootloader unlocked? You can't be both. If you are S-Off with no recovery just flash a recovery.img from fastboot.
@bananagranola : When i purchased this phone it is s-off but wasnt rooted .. so i tried to root it by copying the clockwork rom in sd card and then to boot loader >recovery , didnt resulted in anything .. then after few attempts i found that easy ace root tool kit and went for option 1 .. and Finally got bootlocker unlocked and updated to 2.5**** (something something), cwm recovery and Rooted ... then i went for upgrading for jelly bean rom and after that i was crying what the F**K i did to my phone and TIME !!
but something i noticed that my phone is s-off but after rooting with Easy Ace Root Kit , the phone boot loader showed unlocked highlighted with pink !

Okay. First. ClockworkMod is not a ROM, it is a recovery. Second. You do not install a recovery by putting it on your SD card. Third. You install a recovery by flashing a img file from fastboot. Fourth. What does your hboot say, exactly, right now?

Hello Everyone,
I am having an issue with my M8.
I decided to try out SkyDragon, give it a shot.
I downloaded the ROM, put it on my SDcard. Flashed Philz 6.25 recovery, did NOT make a nandroid backup (I know i'm an idiot),then proceeded to flash the rom via Philz.
I flashed the Rom, and followed all the instructions, I then rebooted the phone. Still stuck at the bootscreen. I read the Q&A and tried to flash the rom multiples times. Still stuck on the boot screen. I have an unlocked bootloader with S-ON.
I just got this phone a few months ago and I am unable to take it out of this state. Could use some help. Thank you.
Is your firmware up to date? Not sure about Skydragon specifically, but long boot times (along with broken WiFi) is often a symptom of outdated firmware.
Let the phone alone for 10 minutes or so, and see if it eventually boots, and isn't actually "stuck" (but rather just takes a REALLY long time).
To flash a different ROM, adb push it to internal storage, or put in on your SD with a USB card reader connected to your computer. Then boot into recovery and flash.

Hello,
I've actually tried flashing another ROM "Android HD Revolution" I believe. The phone shows the HTC Screen along with some red text at the bottoms saying "this build is for developer purposes only....". The phone then stays on the HTC screen for ~3mins then reboots and continues to boot loop.
You just need to flash the new firmware that is found in the sky dragon OP.
Easiest way is to use fastboot. Google fastboot firmware m8. Lots of guides out there. It's only a few commands.
Edit: Should have asked if you are s-off. That will make a difference in your ability to flash new firmware.

Hello Thanks for the reply.
However, I am currently S-ON, I have searched ways to achieve S-OFF but they all require installing a ROM. However, I cannot flash any rom, I will just get the bootloop. If you could advise on a method that would work for my situation, I would be very grateful.

Start with fastboot getvar all command in fastboot/bootloader, put the result here (delete serialno and imei no.) .. then we'll see whether is there any stock ROM available for your device.

You needed to make sure you have the latest GPE software, s-off and supper cid... Also you need to know and have ADB/FASTBOOT installed on your PC.. All which can be found throughout all of the various threads.... Right now you soft bricked your device and needed to return to stock... And stay the process over.

You don't "need" the latest gpe software. The rom runs fine on the latest sense firmware.

Issue Resolved!
Hello Everyone.
The issue is resolved. Through many flashes, wipes and commands. Its done. I was able to flash the rom, let the rom sit for ~20mins, and it finally booted up into Lollipop. I now have no wifi. However, I should be able to follow the FAQ to get S-OFF and fix my wifi!. Thanks team. I really appreciate it.
I'm currently running Android Revolution HD on my new M9, unlocked, s-off also.
Found out that I have the battery is faulty, so I need to return it to stock, and get it back the shop for a replacement.
However, I stupidly didn't make a back up of my stock rom.
The CID of my phone is O2___01
I've downloaded the stock rom from this site, and flashed it using the RUU command. However when it flashes, then tells me to reboot, it still has Android Revolution HD on it.
I've spent a few hours browsing the forum, and still I've come to no avail.
Any help would be well appreciated!

You don't provide much information so it's hard to help. So let's start at the bginning: What firmare version are you using? (It's stated in Download Mode in the line with "OS" at the beginning.)
You tried to flash a RUU? Which one? Have there been any error outputs? If yes, which ones? Since you're S-OFF flashing a RUU should not be a problem at all so these outputs are very important if you want any help.
I tried to flash 1.40.206.8 -> 2.10.206.2 from this page
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
Also I followed this,
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/firmware-t3068243
downloaded the correct RUU zip, tried to flash, got the error code telling me I need to immediately flash again which I did. Rebooted, and it just set up Android Revolution HD again.-
My firmware currently is 2.10.206.2
Im sure it's something stupid I missing out?

As far as I know Sneakyghost doesn't provide any RUUs. Those are only firmware packages that do not contain a rom. So it's no miracle that you're still booting ARHD.
You can download O2 RUUs from here, here or here. Any of the X.XX.206.X files will work since you are S-OFF. Do you have a SD card that is not bigger than 32gb? If yes, format it to fat32, copy one O2 RUU to its root directory and rename that file to "0PJAIMG.zip". If you then boot to Download Mode you will be asked to push the Volume Up button and the RUU will start flashing. If it reboots to system instead of rebooting to Download Mode you will have to power off your phone and boot to Download Mode manually. The RUU will continue then. At the end you will be asked to push the power button so that your phone gets shut down. If you now start your phone you will be back on a stock system.
Be aware that there is no RUU for your current firmware. Since you're S-OFF that doesn't matter but your phone will be downgraded at the end.
Ahh no wonder! haha
Going to try this shortly, so will let you know how I get on!
After its flashed, I'll be good to lock again and go s-on? Then return to the shop?

Relock only after you successfully tested that your device is booting normaly. After that you theoretically could re-S-ON. (But I would never do that because there is always a risk of hardbricking your phone if you re-S-ON and there is anything still modified that you didn't notice. For safety reasons S-OFF should always be considered as a oneway.)
Edit: I'm not completely sure but I actually doubt that they will check whether your phone was S-OFFed or not. If I think about the people who are working at the O2 or vodafone shops in my city I would say they do not even know what a bootloader is...
Agreed, use the s-off command to change back to "LOCKED" and leave it s-off. Too much of a risk otherwise.
If in the unlikely event they see it, you can play dumb, because a few rare people have gotten s-off phones from the factory and it doesn't prove you did anything.

Edit: I'm not completely sure but I actually doubt that they will check whether your phone was S-OFFed or not. If I think about the people who are working at the O2 or vodafone shops in my city I would say they do not even know what a bootloader is...

My bad, I didn't check.
All sorted now, thanks again bud!
I have a european One M8. I turned it off when I got in the plane and after landing it never started back
It gets stuck in the HTC logo.
Some times it moves on and says that "android is updating 165 applications"...and when that finishes it says that Sense Home has crashed and shows the HTC logo again (strangely I can change the volume at that stage ).
I tried to enter Recovery and did a Factory Reset but still nothing. When I select the Recovery option inside that menu I only see an icon of a phone with a red icon, no options to wipe cache etc...
The phone is STOCK, S-ON, no root nothing.
Any suggestions? Can I just reflash the stock rom?

Possibly. What does it say for OS number on the bootloader screen?
Also, please confirm near the top of the bootloader screen, it says LOCKED (versus UNLOCKED or RELOCKED).

Hello, thanks for the reply. What I see are the following:
LOCKED
HBOOT - 3.19.0.0000
RADIO-1.29.214500021.12G
OpenDSP-v51.2.2-00593-M8974_F0.1015
OS-6.12.61.4

Did you find solution/fix pls ?
I seem to have similar problem.
After Factory Reset phone went into White HTC Screen and stopped. I'm only able to access Bootloader and Stock Recovery now. There is no OS.
OS.1.21.401.1
HTC___001
HBOOT 3.19.0.0000
S-ON
LOCKED
Software Status: Official
I tried to Unlock bootloader. I used Hasoon's tool. I confirmed YES to unload bootloader. But after restart Bootloader is still locked.
I tried to flash boot.img and recovery.img but all FAILS.
I can access the phone via ADB but anything flashing always fails. Tried sideload via ADB in Phone's recovery. But always Fails.
I can't access SD via Recovery, says E: mount fail. Tried to re-format the SD but no result
To me it seems like bootloader is corrupt and seems that without proper hardware I won't be able to do anything...
I spent many hours now and about to give up. Please let me know if I missed anything before I will, sadly, have to try professionals.
Vash

Hey, thanks for the reply. I haven't managed to do anything neither did I spend a lot of time on this. I was waiting in case someone could help. Such a shame if the phone is bricked. I do not know if it is worth taking to professionals as its value as a used phone is quite low at the moment...

Unfortunately, I don't think your version has an RUU (or from a free source, anyway) that would restore your phone fairly easily (assuming the problem is software, and not hardware).
That being the base (no RUU) you can restore by unlocking the bootloader, installing custom recovery TWRP, and restore a stock TWRP backup (stock ROM).
So it is possible to recover (again, as long as it's not a hardware problem). But it's not a short/simple procedure, if you aren't familiar with these terms and methods.
I fixed it by unlocking the bootloader from HTC's website, installed TWRP and then flashed the LineageOS Rom...

Nice work. It was hard to tell from your post, your level of knowledge. Did you have to learn how to do this, or had prior experience unlocking bootloader, TWRP, etc?
I was on vacation/holiday last week, and not on XDA. So sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Thanks for the help. I have had previous experience installing custom ROMs on HTCs
(HTC Diamond, Wildfire, Desire, Desire HD, Desire S, One S, One X and now the One M8 )
I was just hopping I could get an easy solution without having to go through the whole process
