[Facebook App - What is the best version?] - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Does anyone have any apk's of older Facebook App?
Gallery Issue with newer versions:
The newer versions will not upload / refresh all the galleries and it's very annoying. Also when you upload pictures, it won't let you select a gallery. Extremely annoying. What are the devs thinking?
I'm using an older version 1.8.4, which is ok. It allows me to select albums when uploading pics, but still it doesn't fully load all my albums...
Edit: Facebook apk 1.8.4 is by far the best.
It would be nice if everyone can make some FB apk's available for download.
Edit: PM if you want the apk file.
Does anyone know which version will refresh all the albums 100% and not partially?
Thanks.

ditto ... I LOVE Flipboard .... I used to use Friendcaster app instead of the horrendous FB app but that lately is getting worse not better and it shows None of my photo to that get uploaded via my instagram feed.
I have all my Social Media accounts loaded into Flipboard
FB, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, Google+
plus other info/fun stuff like cute overload.com, Android News, 2012 Summer Games, People Mag
LOVE it.

Just started using flipboard and gotta admit, it's addictive! Best RSS style app I've ever used. However, I've set up my Facebook, and it is cool to use for checking out your newsfeed and you are able to like and comment on posts, and looks like you can compose a post, but how do you check notifications/messages or look at people's profiles or pictures? Seems to be missing some functionality. Either way it's a cool app.
I usually use Friendcaster though. The regular Facebook app was horrible about giving you notifications. Friendcaster does the trick.

Well it is laid out magazine style, but you can set it up to include your feed from all/any of your accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Google+ and it shows the photos right away (for example when someone tweets a blurb with a URL to a photo they upload) it's really cool
Each one gets it's own "block" - see attached screencap of ONE of my pages
You can also add any blog RSS feeds, News feeds etc - I have Android News, People Magazine, 2012 Olympics (right now) the website Cuteoverload.com ... it is totally customizable and you can like, and add comments from the app as well.

I use flipboard a lot, especially using tumblr and reading news. Though, i dont think its the best option for using facebook, at least thats what the OP is asking. There is no way to message someone on flipboard nor chat. You can post stats, like pictures, and share stuff. But otber than those things, nope. I think fast facebook is pretty good, but i find myself using the official one most often.

Looks great! I'm about to try.

I like fast Facebook

Flipboard and Friendcaster.

Necro Bump....
I personally can't stand the new Facebook App lately..... they either are too damn slow, or you get your notications really late compared to the other apps.... To my liking, I would recommend using Version 1.9.6........ I'm currently on running 1.9.6 and refusing to update =)

are you able to post pictures to instagram via flipboard? if so, how?

I don't think you can post pics because Instagram doesn't allow any other app to post pics.

The bookmark I have in Chrome for me. I stopped using the app a few weeks ago and have been very pleased since.

I dont use chrome as for 1, you tether and Chrome give you away if you dont have a tethering plan... Firefox > Chrome.

Good Facebook Application for android

Well guys. I have been looking for weeks now (in fact, ever since I got my SGS about 1 month ago) for a decent facebook application with a usable widget but I seem to be completely out of luck. I have tried some 25 applications that all integrate facebook (I even tried the ones that come preinstalled on vodafone phones and LG phone) but (excuse my french): they all suck balls!
They all have major issues when it comes to updating info, or posting comments or like-ing feed items or something like that. every app has at least one VERY major issue which makes it unacceptable to me. I also bought apps (and got refunds obviously) but to no avil.
What facebook apps do you guys use on the SGS and what are your experiences?

That's what I'm using for lack of a better alternative. But I'm still looking for an app with homescreen widget that refreshes regularly (say every 15 minutes) and especially, refreshes when I enter the application so I don't have to do that manually.
Basically what is available from facebook for the iPhone. working notifications and automatic refreshes where needed without wasting enormous amounts of data usage.
er.. what about the official Facebook app? It has a widget...

Which is ok BUT it doesn't refresh the comments on a post when you click it in order to post a comment yourself. Extremely stupid! The only refresh it ever does is when you ask it to or every half hour (which in my opinion is too infrequent. But that its of course open for discussion)

You need "Bloo"
It is free
Only downfall it has (in my opinion) is that it does not do inbox messages, which is a limitation in the Facebook API, not the dev's fault.

For all these application presented what is the application which drains less the battery of our Samsung Galaxy S? Because the official application is killing my phone in regard with the battery life
What about LPP. There is a good fb widget on paid LPP

Not to many answers in the thread lol just a bunch of people saying "me too"
I get this same problem but i can log into the actual Facebook app. Weird....
Install the individual facebook and/or twitter app and then you can sync. I think this is to avoid the dual sync I have seen on many other android phones.
It wont even let me log in tho. And I have the regular Facebook app installed
Just wanted to post that I was just able to log into social hub.
So give it a try...

I was too. Thanks for the update!
Yes, I was finally able to login today. Makes me wonder if this was a Facebook and not a samsung issue.
But I could log in to the facebook app and not the social hub.
I think I found the fix for this.
I went into facebook and managed the apps link part.
Removed the previous link with the original epic sync.
Bing bang boom, Social Hub Synced.

I'm not with my phone, so can't check - however, i know the friend stream widget 'definitely' shows both Facebook & Twitter posts.
Edit: I've just checked the friend stream app too, it shows both Facebook and twitter.

Make sure its set to All Networks at the top of the friend stream app.
Make sure you have the Facebook live feed sync enabled in auto-sync.

Anyone know if google plus can be integrated, like sparks and posts?

Yeah... my phone is free!!!

So finally I did it... I un-installed facebook app.
Of course I'm using mobile web page with app to notify me instantly for any notification or message. For the first time, I'm having over 400mb of free ram and other apps are not being forced to close.

Indeed, uninstalled the Facebook app a couple of weeks ago, never looked back. I don't need push notifications for facebook, I don't use facebook chat.
The website is faster than the app and doesn't run in background, doesn't eat my battery, ..
ew facebook. lol
Would love to do the same, but I like to share photos/links/etc to FB. Is there an app that lets you share to FB?
You can kinda of share photos to Facebook with tweetdeck or the better tweak deck from modaco goes though yfrog but it works

Try Friendcaster. There is a free & paid version in the market.
And facebook kept requesting GPS.
Uninstalled it, i don't check facebook much anyway.
Or just disable notifications and the "gps use" inside the app.
I also use it to upload photos, mostly when I am travelling, and without those settings, facebook app doesn't waste so much battery.
Seesmic ping. Twitter can be associated with FB too

FriendCaster is so much better than the official Facebook app in every possible way.
I bought it way back in the day when it was just called f+ and was just an addon to allow push messages before FB officially supported it.
I have just never had any big issues with the Facebook app. It works OK, and doesn't eat up resources any more than other apps. I run Facebook and Facebook Messenger all day. Even when I'm using it a ton and really spending time in the apps, it'll be at most 10% of my battery used. On normal days, its ~2% just like Plume and Google+.
Facebook works out fine for me, I didnt like Friendscaster

I unchecked the GPS use, but it still kept using the GPS at the news feed page.
But well, i'm not installing it anytime soon.
When I read the topic I thought you ended up getting a Nexus for free
I was close to installing the Facebook app once but ended up not and am glad I didnt. I just set up my account to send me a text message anytime I get a message/post and find this works best for me.
I use FB too often to uninstall, but it easily eats close to 30% of the battery... What GPS option are you referring to in the app?

That only works for messages and (maybe) posts. Damn app triggers GPS every time I open it.
I'm close to uninstalling too, as this app makes up the majority of my GPS use on a day to day basis.
They definitely need to add a universal toggle for it to the FB app.
I just uninstalled the FB app. Hopefully I can stay off of it.
My first step to cutting down on being over connected.
I just use Android Pro Widgets (APW) or something like that. They have a sweet themeable collection of scrollable Widgets like twitter, Facebook, email, and combinations of them (plus others). I use it for my Facebook that does a great job of working in itself but links directly to the website for more advanced stuff.
I don't use the notifications (god awful nonstop alerts). But its a great combo.
I have the twitter and Facebook using a whole page each my desktop... twitter on the first page, my main page on 2, and Facebook on 3.

I too use facebook a lot. Never had any issues 'that' much. But yes,the speed is awe-full when connected to a 2G/EDGE network. But never showed any problem with 3G/Wifi networks.

Gtalk vs G+ messenger

Hello,
What do think about them? I feel they are almost the same... can I disable talk and keep only messenger? Have any one tried that?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I wish G+ messenger had the same ICS style UI as GTalk . But on G+ you can text pics and use hangouts. The only thing I don't like about G+ messenger is there is no led notification which GTalk has.

I don't see why Google doesn't just unify all of its messaging services (Google voice/talk and g+ messenger) into one service. Hopefully that's where it's heading.

I've been talking about this with my friends for the longest time. The fact that GTalk can't send files is a kind of a huge issue for me as other wise its a great service. What I would love to see Google do is take a kind of Apple approach to it.. One messaging app that can text from your phones number or your Google voice number as you so designate, and, if the person your messaging is likewise using an Android 4.0.x and above platform, it would automatically send via data with higher limits to what you could send as opposed to text, and it would link to video calls and hangouts and such like GTalk and Messenger, can send files other than pictures.
Basically, one unified messenger to rule them all. I am not a huge apple fan, but I like the concept of iMessage and I know that if El Goog took the time to make it so, they could unify their services into one glorious messaging platform.

Unfortunately they are very different. Messenger is mobile only and requires the user have the G+ app but it does offer more features. GTalk allows you to message anyone on an Android or through the web on Gmail or G+. They really need to merge these messaging services into one as it is very confusing.

Google just bought Meebo so I would assume we will see some improvements in this area later this year or early next year at the latest. They have to know their current implementation is not very good.
I'm confused. The GTalk and GChat programs on a PC have been able to send files for years. And on the phone neither GTalk or G+ Messenger can send files, so I'm not sure where that comparison came from.
To share large files (or 300 photos) just toss them on Google Drive or Dropbox. I haven't checked, but there's also probably an app to take advantage of Wifi-Direct to "beam" it locally.
Also, G+ messenger doesn't have a standalone PC application. That is no good for unifying. I use the PC app at home/work, and phone app elsewhere. Having to keep your browser open to chat is a real nuisance IMHO.

However the GTalk client on Android does not allow for sending any files whatsoever. And while yes you could use drop box or drive or others as a workaround, what I'm saying is that including that support on the Android Platform app would be amazing. And a huge incentive to use it over regular texting.

Thanks. That would be nice to get this some traction. There were actually already some articles pointing out the issue but those faded away without any impact.
Nevertheless - it can't be ruled out that google is already working on this (*fingers crossed*)
I prefer Gtalk being left alone. Also I don't know why but Google keeps adding random people to my g+ messenger contact list. They are not on my circles either.

maybe you have added them as following? Had same problem but then I went to chat -> privacy settings and selected "my circles" and in g+ settings I selected only a few close circles as "my circles" and actually the list is waaay shorter (and is basically the same as in gtalk).
