droid incredible 2 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

i'm trying to unlock my dinc2 and have been unsuccessful at doing so. i'm trying to avoid paying somebody to do it because i'd like to figure out how to do myself so i can do it again in the future. i've found very limited info on the dinc2 as far unlocking, and would greatly appreciate any help or advice. does anyone know if android terminal emulator works for this phone to retrieve the MSL number? also, does it have to be rooted to retrieve the MSL number? i'm trying to use qpst and so far from what i've read, i must have the msl number to set it up in qpst. am i headed in the right direction at least?

[Q] Can I still get the MSL in 2.2 OTA? (CDMA Way)

So, I would like to get my msl via the CDMA Workshop way. If when I do give up, I'll try calling those arses again.
Anyway, I'm curious if the CDMA Workshop will still be able to get me the MSL number following the guide here:
xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697487
Or will tha only work for 2.1?
No previous or current root, prior. So that handy market tool cant help me, I haven't tried the CDMA workshop yet, but figured I'd ask first to see if enough people have tried it with raw 2.2 to see if i'd have results first. Thanks all.
It works 100% fine bro, I did it on my replacement phone last night.

I couldn't get the drivers working for CDMA Workshop. Go the easy way though and just install "MSL Reader" from the market. Its free and it actually works.

Yeah, except the OP said he doesn't have root.
I did it just fine using CDMA Workshop before MSL Reader came out. The drivers worked fine for me on Windows 7 x64.

[Q] Help: Can't finish Flash to metro

Hi... i just finished rooting and trying to flash my HTC EVO over to metro pcs. all was supposed to happen smoothy but sadly it didn't. The problem is when the metro pcs people try to program my number into the phone using ##000000# it won't let them access that menu. They told me i might have to factory reset then try, but then i would lose all my info... I'm running 2.3 ota, is there anything i can do to get my phone working with metro...plz plz plz help....mind you this has been going on for two weeks now and i have spent to much money trying to fix the problem...thanx
Google MSL Finder or Locator and use that to determine what your MSL is because it is not the 6 zeroes.
Once determined, you can provide it to MPCS or change it to 000000.
Hope this helps.

[Q] MSL Update from Sprint to Ting

I have a rooted Sprint Note 2 with Moon Rom installed. I was not able to keep paying the high cost of Sprint service so i tried porting my number from Sprint to Ting which Ting confirmed it was successful in the transfer. Problem i am having is updating the MSL to Ting.
##72786# brings me to a SCRTN screen which has no options to change MSL and also disables receiving signal until a restart. When i try to enter data settings, it allows me to edit with the Ting MSL code though. Updating PRL, Profile, and Hands free activation do not help.
I was able to update MSL on a Epic 4G by using a multiboot rom made especially for that kind of task.
Does anyone have a method for completing the MSL change to Ting or know of a Stock Rom that is trustworthy for MSL changes?
Thanks in advance.
To change your msl you need to use the ljc radio/baseband and the dfs program. You can find radios in the stickies and a link to dfs in this section in the thread about flashing the note.

I was afraid it might be that complicated. Did Sprint wise up about dialer codes and changing the MSL through a stock ROM? I'm on a Mac, so half the time i can't use alot of the programming software out there if it needs to be done by computer. If the MSL can be changed by putting in a stock ROM, let me know, otherwise i will look into DFS.
Update: I was reading through the forum page for DFS setup. Since i am able to enter the Ting MSL into the phone when i change MSL and data settings, doesnt that mean my MSL is already changed to Ting or is something still missing in my settings? I didnt see a setup process for Sprint to Ting specifically on the DFS forum page. It does however mention that if you get an error code 16 when you try to dial a number, that is a connection problem on Sprint's part where they need to do a "CHLS Refresh" in their system to clear service for the phone which is what happens when i try to dial out on the Note 2. I'd rather not have to mess with DFS if i can avoid it, so if this sounds familiar , let me know.
Thanks for the help.

Getting Sprint GS3 on VM help...

Hi all, I've never been to this side of the forums, I'm usually in the AT&T s3 threads. So heres whats going on my cousin has VM and a friend of his gave him a Sprint S3 thinking he could activate on VM since they use the sprint network. Well he found out he couldn't do it directly. but after a quick search on google we found that it could be done. Ive been searching here and google and got a lot of info on the procedure but couldn't find a step by step tutorial. Ive already rooted the S3 and flashed a TWRP recovery, Downloaded Conquest rom for it.
I also have downloaded the CDMA tools DFS tools, how to use it i'm clueless. IS there a video or tutorial on this?
After reading this thread several times :

The donor phone is a LG optimus V
I know that 4g isnt going to happen, unless he had a 4g donor.
Do I need to root the LG phone to get the MSL info via apk like MYMSL Reader?
Is DIAG mode ##DIAG# from the phone dialer?
What is the samsung password and how do I get it?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated....
I know the only way you used to be able to get the msl on the optimus v was to use CDMA workshop. Its been years since I have had one, so there might be an easier way now.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 MSL code lookup

OK so here we go I have stock rooted the s3. This is more of a blog or log of what Ive done so far and if anyone has better updated info then chime in.
I am trying to unlock my sprint phone for use on straight talk network. Nothing I have done so far has let me have internet access on the phone.
Im looking for the MSL code to unlock the phone. CDMA workshop did not work It wants me to input the spc to read it lmao.
First I rooted using the chainfire method. http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-xda-developer-tv/
Then I used Triangle away to make the phone look like it has not been rooted.
Im downloading SDK tools now to follow the instructions in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391165&page=2
I have android version 4.4.2 so I may have to downgrade to 4.1.x and follow the thread to reprogram my MSL then upgrade again.
Any IDEAS?!???!?

I went through this a few months ago. Just call sprint and have your imei# and meid# ready. Tell them you need your msl code because you are going to be traveling overseas. They are now required by law to give it to you although they will not assist with unlocking your phone for a new carrier. Or theres an app that works for some people. Let me know how it went
I tried calling sprint they want the phone number associated with the phone to access account info and I bought phone offline.... no idea what the phone number was.
