Currently have my Desire set up with my 2 Google Apps accounts. I understand that you can't tie these into the market to make purchases, and have to use a standard gmail account.
Are there any pitfalls to this? Will the apps be tied to the gmail account? When the market finally supports Apps and I start using one of my accounts, will I hit any problems?
I'd like to clear this up before I commit to using my gmail account.
I have a google account ***@gmail.com and this is linked to my google apps e mail ***@customdomain.com.
I don't use the google account gmail address at all, only the google apps account. Presumably, my phone (when I get it) will ask me for my google account details so which should I use?
I see from another thread that paying for apps necessitates a google account login that is linked to google checkout rather than a google apps login. I don't want to get things too complicated but at he same time I want all of my contacts to be synched with my google apps account rather than my google account.
Does this make sense and can anyone suggest what I should do?
I definitely don't want the main e mail address and contacts list to be my @gmail.com address. Thanks
Don't sweat it! It isn't a problem.
Set up your phone with your Google Apps for Domains account.
Everything will work just fine, up to the point when you want to purchase some apps from the market. It will then just ask you for another account to link to Google Checkout, purely for purchasing purposes only - all your purchased apps will still be linked to your Google Apps for Domains account.
Regards,
Dave
Awesome, Thanks
I have a primary account A that I use for everything but I have three other google accounts (used only for gmail). Whenever I click on a link to go to the play store from within an app, it'll load up my account B instead of A. I select A but then it just goes back to B later. Is there a way to hard set it to A all the time?

What is your backup account under settings > backup & reset? The same as account A?

it's Account A.
Here's the whole story. I wanted to buy a ChompSMS license but the only way to do it is through the app > menu > buy license. It then brings you to the play store under Account B. searching for the app license purchase in the play store doesn't show anything either so that's not an option.
what's weird is that i have an account C and D as well, after I deleted Account B, account A would be working to make the purchase. i thought maybe account C or D would kick in but not. Accounts B, C, and D all have the same settings, rather that they're only used for gmail syncs.
I had similar problem, i have account A for irl people gmail and google services & play store, and B&C for other registration purposes, newsletters etc.
On my previous phone i used account B for play store, so on gnex every app from previous phone was associated with account B, so i just deleted account B, downloaded all apps, and added account B again.
Ok, so for in-app billing it doesn't select the primary Google play account. Interesting. I'm not sure if that's due to the in-app billing implementation of the app itself, or due to general Android components handling in-app billing.
Some info here, but no details on how to handle multiple accounts: http://developer.android.com/guide/google/play/billing/billing_overview.html

i'm not sure it's in-app billing since when i click on "buy license" it takes me to the google play store.
Oh no that's not it. Still strange that launching the play store via an app results in selecting a different account. Is this the case with all apps that launch the play store?

Hi,
I usually have 2 gmail accounts signed in for a user. One account where my all play store apps are there....and the other one mostly for mails. both are gmail accounts.
All are fine until Lollipop. Usually I sign in with my play store account then later add my other account. All of the apps tied to my main account so all my in app purchases are fine. When I go to accounts always my main account listed first then additional ones in the order I added.
After lollipop, my accounts seems getting sorted by alphabet. My main accounts starts with S (similar as username) so it listed out last in order. When I open apps most of them seems tied to first account listed where none of my in app purchases there.
As of now I left out all accounts and sign in using one account which solves the issue temporarily, but I really like to have my other accounts also signed in. (as some of play books tied to those).
I don't want to create separate user for this purpose...
Did any one else seeing this issue. Is there a solutions.
Please help.
Thank you.

No I've had this way since the shield console first came out it's great for games you can switch google plus profiles to keep saves seperate... But you cant switch some games like doom and battle of sol because only the account that bought it is associated with that game... In shield hub you can log in and out of profiles with google plus now and use different profiles to purchase games
I can confirm that sideloading the GMail apk allows additional google accounts to be added to the ShieldTV. The Google Play Music app is only associated with the 'first' (or primary) account though. I have an account that is signed up for Google Play Music All Access, but use a different account for general purchases on the Play Store. So far as I can tell, I can select software to install via the web Play Store using my 'Play Store' account and have my 'Play Music' account as my primary account, and it seems to be working ok.
Hey, thanks for the tip. I can see cases that this can be useful. But I wonder the reasoning why by default they limited to a single account?
Yes, a TV is a shared object. But still, there are many ways I can use the shield having personal preferences.
Just to confirm in 2019 on a sony android TV that sideloading Gmail does indeed add another google account which can be switched to on the youtube app. I've got three accounts set up now so we don't spoil each others recommendations
I sideloaded the Gmail apk through esexplorer. Then using a mouse and keyboard I signed in with two further google accounts on the gmail by selecting "other account". When I signed out of youtube app and went to sign back in, all three accounts were available to choose from!
This info isn't easy to find on the web so just updating in case anyone else is looking for the solution
