my friend bought a brand new samsung galaxy s2
i saw lots of apps in his phone
such as task manager, digital clock...
i'm wondering if i can install those apps in my arc
but i don't know how
can anyone help me out
and please show me what to do
thanks!!
first try to find it on market
and if you dont find it there, then ask some developers to port it onto arc.
i can't find it in the market
i want the apps originally built in samsung s2
how can i ask them to help me?
contact over PM binary, experienceD, freexperia team etc.
Pull the apps out of the SGS II's system and try to install them on Arc
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
i've already tried but it didn't work
it says app not installed.
i tried many times still didn't work.
what can i do?
Then it will be difficult.
Apps seem to be only working on the SGS II then. There must be some kind of autorisation in the app.

i send the apps in s2 to my arc and set rw-r--r--
and reboot
but it still doesn't work.but i have tried to change galaxy s2's boot animation and it works!!
the problem seems to be just in the apps.
i can't install them
please teach me if you find a way to install and can perfectly work.
Thank you!!
They will be SGSII specific apps which will need to be ported as they will rely on things like the SGSII framework-res.apk to work. So unless a dev want's to use it or will port it for you you'll have to do without.
thats a good phone!

Why you think that built in taskmanager is good.??
Anyway...android dont need task managers and killers.
Alternativ is download some another taskmanager. Like someone already tell us..samsung apps need samsung frameworks.
And samsung make this framework compatible with samsung devices....

News and weather (aka Genie) has always been the first thing I install on my previous galaxies, Can someone work out how to make it work for sgs3 please
Kind regards Dan
I've had a look at the apps inside Cyanogenmod roms and can't identify a specific apk for news and weather I'm afraid so it must be part of something. Otherwise you could just install it and off you go. So far with my S3, I've added the calender, music, gallery and messaging apps from Cyanogen9 to replace the fat Samsung versions, gradually heading to a stock ICS feel, oh, Nova launcher as well.
Just pull the genie apk from Google apps and put it into /system/app
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk 2
Its named GenieWidget.apk in CM9 ROMs and AOKP ROMs it will work because its based on 4.0
Here it is (extracted from a ICS customrom for the S2):

You have to copy/paste it to /system/app using Root explorer for example.
It's then in the list of your available widgets
Working on AT&T Galaxy Note i717
Thanks for the link and info on putting it in /system/app. It worked instantly on my rooted AT&T Galaxy Note i717 with ICS 4.0.4 ROM.
Transparent genie widget

**Edit **
These SONY XPERIA THEMES, APPs and MODs should work on any GALAXY NEXUS as long as the ROM you're using has THEME CHOOSER built in. (Go to settings and look for themes), if you have -Themes- you're good if you don't, I'm sorry flash a theme enabled ROM
Read on Galaxy Nexus TORO (VZW), TORO PLUS (Sprint) & MAGURO (GSM) users
Tested on the following ROMs:
Nexus Evolution - Toro
Paranoid Android - Toro & Toro Plus
XenonHD - Toro
Atom421 - Toro
But these mods will work on any ROM with themes chooser.
Hello All
I got tired of waiting for someone to come up with the ultimate Xperia ROM or at least a Xperia UI Theme for my VZW Galaxy Nexus, so, I decided to take on the task myself and the outcome is unbelievable!!!
*Disclaimer*
I feel like I don't have to remind you but whatever happens to your phone IS NOT MY FAULT... If you know how to flash ROMs to your phone, you should know to back it up.
>>>I'm not responsible for any data lost nor if you brick your phone

I want to make one thing clear, very clear: I did not create this Theme from scratch... All I did was put all the pieces together to get it as close to the SONY XPERIA UI as possible.
ONLY TESTED ON VZW RUNNING NEXUS-EVOLUTION ROM - ANDROID VERSION 4.2.1
Things you'll need:
**ROM**
**Xperia Theme (paid version $.199)**
**Xperia UI Home Launcher**
**Sony Xperia apps**
**ROM LINK**
http://rootzwiki.com/index.php?/topic/31993-[ROM]NEXUS-EVOLUTION-Just-got-faster!--[V3.0.0]-4.2.1---UPDATE-1-4-13
**XPERIA THEME - PLAY STORE LINK**
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thomassafca.theme.sonyuxp
If you know of a free XPERIA theme that works as good as the paid version, feel free to share the link or the .apk in this thread.
**XPERIA LAUNCHER DOWNLOAD LINK**
http://d-h.st/JPo
**SONY XPERIA APPs**
WidgetPicker.apk http://d-h.st/BfU
You have to install WidgetPicker to be able to use the Weather & the Clock Widget.
WeatherWidget.apk http://d-h.st/fJE
ClockWidgets.apk http://d-h.st/YIu
Walkman.apk http://d-h.st/5Rn
BootAnimation.zip http://d-h.st/Bvo
Note: All apk files can be installed as a regular apk file.
For the boot animation to work first you have to move your current bootanimation.zip OUT of your system>media folder (move it anywhere in your SD CARD... DO NOT DELETE IT in case you get tired of the Xperia boot animation and want to go back to whatever boot animation you had. Then you need to move/copy the bootanimation.zip file you downloaded from this thread to system>media using any file explorer. No need to edit permissions, just reboot after you've moved the file.
This will get you a taste of Jelly Bean and all the eye candy from Sony Xperia UI.
I know some of you are willing to pay for a nice app... Trust me, the XPERIA THEME paid version is worth every penny. And you should be able to bill it to your Vzw account if you're downloading it from the Play Store
ALL THE .apk FILES INCLUDED IN THIS THREAD ARE FILES I FOUND FLOATING ON THE WEB. JUST SEARCH FOR'M ON GOOGLE AND YOU WILL FIND THEM.
If you like what I have put together just hit the thanks button.

Instructions:
Flash the ROM - Go through the set up process on the ROM like you normally would.
Download and install the theme from the play store the go to settings/themes select Xperia theme and apply then reboot the phone.
Install Xperia Launcher and set it as your default launcher.
Last, install all the apk files.

You want people to pay for a theme you admittedly didn't create but simply "put together"? FYI, XDA doesn't allow for paid apps/themes on their website without a free version.

Apologies I did misunderstand that the theme was not his own. That being said it's likely the link gets pulled as it's still against XDA rules to post links to paid apps.

Thank you Jlanitti!!!! Before you start throwing Sh*t at me read OP... I DID NOT CREATE THIS THEME.... I'm not getting paid if you download the theme. In my personal opinion, that theme is the best I've seen so far (I might be wrong with the 'I think is the best' statement) but that's why I asked if someone knows a free theme they can share the link or apk in this thread.

Apologies accepted. I'll edit it so it doesn't get pulled. I've been using this Theme for the past 3 weeks, testing it (the way I put it together) and everything works. It's only fair other people know about it.

Posting links to paid items on the Play store are fine, but those posting the links must not be any way be associated with them. Hope that clears things up.

So does the water ripple effect work for all the interface of your phone as in messaging, etc ? I thought that there was a dandelion lwp. Still seems impossible to me...

the ripple effect is not for the wallpaper or desktop, it is only available on the lock screen as a visual effect to unlock the device.
The one from play store is better. Supports extra flying dandelions in the air.
Okay guys, thanks for helping me.
