Hi guys,
long time as passed since my approach to xda with my trinity....
Ok now once more i need your help, since one week i own an awesome
HOX i leaved my "old" Galaxy S2 and moved back to HTC and i feel the difference...
I'm trying to get back some old games i owned on galaxy, of course, not all of them works
on HOX but trying some different apk i noticed a different behaviour, so i would like to know
if i could install chainfire and load the respective plugins for each game. What i meant is
if i own a copy of a game that works on powervr devices could i use chainfire to load that
app with the powervr plugins? I know that could be stupid owning such device with tegra 3!!!
But some game like Shadow Guardian, for example, doesn't work and gameloft doesn't seem
to support this device yet, please light my path!
Ciao.

We can install chainfire....but it would end in a bootloop because we don't have s-off and we need it for it...when you had read the Google play Site of chainfire 3d it says htc only with s-off....when we get s-off we are able to use chainfire and maybe better graphics in all Games....then we have a phone which get in Games the best graphic which Is able to get xD ...

Sorry for some stupid words but Auto-correction Is sometimes stupid xD

Yes it is, although it doesn't always run very smooth (not even after update 1.28). It's fairly playable though.
Yes but on my one x its laggy/choppy/frame drops With 1.26 and with the new ota 1.28

I dont think the game itself is optimized for any phone yet..
I'd like to think that its just a throwntogetherpiece for their 10 year celebration or w/e it was.
Yes, works perfect here.
Make sure you use the correct version of GTA III guys.
I'm not experiencing any lag at all, could even say it's too fast/smooth.

Where did u get one for Tegra 3 ? I didnt find a Tegra 3 version...
Maybe you downloaded a "Ultra performance version" for lower end phones?
sorry for digging up an oldish thread but for me as well it lags a lot, bit disappointed in this regard as i thought the phone would be able to run it no problem..
It seems the one x doesn't do well in performance with apps and games, its a real disappointment.

Best graphics on any mobile device... period.
There will always be apps that ain't optimized for a particular device, especially a device that is just a month old.

Hmm, I got my copy through the TegraZone, however that's just the same as buying & downloading from the Play Store the usual way.
I know that HTC is aware of a problem with the initial drivers for the Tegra, the 1.28 update improves gaming a hell of a lot, I'm yet to receive 1.29, but supposedly that does too. There's a 1.3x update rumored soon, that should fix most problems with any phones right now.
Mine runs fine though, it's just Temple Run that's choppy right now

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy this phone in the coming months.
Couple of questions:
1. Is there any lag that you have experienced after installing a lot of apps because of the limited 512MB RAM? And my friend bought this device but it shows a total of only 384MB RAM, why is that?
2. How is the game performance of the Adreno 205 on this device. Does it support most of the games with good performance?
Asking these questions because i come from using Samsung Galaxy 3 (no GPU and 256MB RAM) and these were the two main problem areas for me. Do not want to repeat the same .
If I Remeber Correctly it has the same CPU\GPU as the Desire S\HD and they play the games pretty well. and regardless of the phone you WILL get lag when tons of crap is installed even if it's the ONE X or the S3. And it shows 384mb of ram because the rest is allocated to Android System. hope this has helped you
games in the category of shadowgun runs fine
nova3 and higher doesnt works
and for the ram issue u alrdy have got an answer
go for the phone i garantee ul nt repent
Games are running fine on this tiny phone . Well, not those beasts games that needs 1gb ram or Nvidia gpu's (if any) but the decent and good games are played well on One V. Buy the phone if you don't have other option because it is a fine one!

Thanks for your input .
Yup i am fully aware how Android runs apps. It's just that my current device had 130MB free storage on an average and all that gets used up with all the important apps. Even with those many apps the phone used to lag (it was OC'd to 1Ghz plus using the V6 supercharger mod). With a better phone i expect to be able to install a few more apps that i had to compromise on earlier and a few games. I was just making sure that my new phone doesn't frustrate me like my last one (it was the best mid-ranger of its time).

Thanks, will check them out (although I was not aware of these games before). My question though was more on the lines of compatibility. Because currently 90% of the games I browse show that they are incompatible with my device . I know the GPU is only a modest one and wont be able to run those FPS genre games very well. But how about those graphics heavy puzzle and arcade games (like Temple Run, World of Goo and Jelly Defense).

Thanks, I was actually thinking of Galaxy Ace 2. It has a much more impressive piece of hardware. But it does not have ICS out of the box, and Samsung are pretty bad with updates (don't wanna flash a ROM port the first day I buy the phone ). Plus the plastic body has no comparison to the sleek unibody design of the One V, really awesome to hold . Sense 4 is also a convincing argument towards One V.
temple run world of goo runs absolutely without any hitch
as i said bfre it nly doesnt suport high quailty 3d games

Surprising to hear that since the Ace2 has a Mali-400 GPU, which is in my opinion gives much better performance than the Adreno 205. It might be asking too much but could you compare notes with your friend on performance and overall usability of the two phones?

It's the halo effect of the N7. Now that Google's pushing Teg3 by putting in one of their devices that's destined to sell in the tens of million you'll see a lot of app developers that ignored Teg3 or never optimized for it getting on board. The N7 is the best thing that ever could have happened to Teg3.

Nice! My one x will be a little bit happier once this happens as we've recently opened up our gpu speeds to FAST :good:Thanks faux123
I already saw that but I don't think it's true, Gameloft guys are just a bunch of liars, I went to their forum and they're most of the time ignoring the Tegra 3 related complaints or answering the exact same way they answered to you (it's like if they're all doing a ctrl+c-ctrl+v)
And, considering the way Asphalt 7 and The Amazing Spider Man (this game doesn't even support post-treatment for Tegra 3!) were optimised for Tegra 3 and considering that Gameloft had time to do the work before releasing these apps, I guess that nVidia didn't pay the extra money Samsung paid to get properly optimised apps...
Even The Dark Knight Rises was not THAT well optimised...
Considering all that I would assume that Gameloft developpers don't know their work or what "optimising" means but considering how Gameloft games work on SGS2 and SGS3 I think that Samsung just paid some money...
They said the same to me and I really complained bout mc3 because I loved that on my xplay I put a good bit of money onto it and that sent me a t3 version but it lags abit online ill try and find the email

Ps am I aloud to share this sort of info on here
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
This is just an unoptimised version with device check deactivated so it runs but lags...
By the way, Modern Combat 3 is available on the Play Store for the One X but I assume it's again not properly optimised and I won't spent a dime again to Gameloft after seeing the "amazing" work they did with Asphalt 7...

That isn't optimizing, it's butchery!
Just look at Hamdir's thread on Wildblood & Gameloft optimization! You'll see it only uses one core out of all 12 on the HOX, that's not optimizing my friend...

correction it uses 1 core out of 4 CPU cores i wasnt talking about GPU
CPU can be used to accelerate all the particles and physics processing, which GL chose to ignore the extra 3 cores
looking at Nova3 you can see its smooth but once you have around 3 enemies with their phsycis simluation, it lags bad, the CPU is the ideal place to deal wtih physics and ragdoll but yea, what can i say, its GL, they are spoiled and like the GPU to do all the job and not bother with multithreaded coding
I wonder if the extra 200 mhz in the HOX+ will help in this lag issue.

I doubt it'll be a major improvement if at all. If you consider the fact that it will still be using one core.
I'm no expert in this field but one thing i can say for sure is that operating with just one single core is dependent on the type of game....and If gameloft games are more demanding as i assume in terms of graphics (i don't really game much if at all on phones) then using just that one core is ridiculous, especially if you consider the fact that we are talking about gaming and even further if we are talking about a GAMING PHONE with a quad-core.

It always comes down to optimization. With that i mean capable hardware, and i'm sure tegra 3, despite not having the greatest graphic hardware is capable
This can be seen in computer games benchmarks. Since i'm planning for a pc upgrade and i'm deciding upon a graphic card, i don't recall exactly which one that was. But there was an incident where a radeon graphic card hit a somewhat better score than the nvidia card. At that point i already thought i knew "hey, we have a winner here already"
..next page there was a game again, where nvidia had clearly beaten the radeon graphic card, where the frame difference was even bigger. Then in other games they performed similarly.
So really, optimization is what it comes down to for capable hardware.
Hahahahaha.. I'm really laughing out loud.. if this real.. no need for me and @Hamdir waste the whole week for Wildblood..

Thanks a lot
So in the meantime I tried to install some games, but it really does not look good. Most recent games install just fine, but either are unplayably slow or don't start (black screen then exits after some time without error message, force close with error message, or error message about missing FPU), not even low-end arcade type games.
So far only a 1 1/2 years old version of Angry Birds and GBAoid seem to work just fine.
If anybody knows of any other games that can be played on a Buzz, please tell. Doesn't look like my 7y old son will be happy with that device.

Unfortunatly Buzz isnt good with gaming. Are you on a custom rom and what kernel ? (as you can make gameplay more smooth and less lag)
Your better off getting a cheap tablet for your kid to play games off.

I know, didn't think it's gonna be that bad though.
So far I managed to install Shoot Bubble v3.0 and Dragon Fly v4.15 in addition to Angry Birds v.2.0.2 and GBAoid v.2.4.7, a lot of other (simple) games just won't run. I seriously will have to think about another phone for my boy (a tablet is out of question).
BTW I have [GB] UltraBeam V0.03 on that buzz (comes with kernel 2.6.35.14-nFinity), setup with SmartassV2 176/748 MHz.
I found 2 games that are fun, here they are

Thanks. Searching for "Classic" in Play was a good hint, I found a few of those classic ones, but only installed a few. He's not supposed to play all the time anyway
Just too bad that none of the recent games can be used, still not sure if he's gonna get the Buzz, or if we'll use it for telephony only otherwise, and I'll give him a LG Optimus 4X HD. That's tough, on one hand I don't want to refuse him to be able to play really cool games, on the other hand I'm not sure if he's up to the task yet (more concerned that he bricks or looses it).
