I have GSM unlocked Galaxy Nexus, now running Jelly Bean on it. I reside in India.
Problem is:
1.GApps like
Books
Google Earth
Google Play Movies
Magazines
Wallet
won't show up, but they are installed.
But previously when I had ICS on my device I could use these apps by means of MarketEnabler and DroidVPN. Now in Jelly Bean this doesn't work.
Factory Images "takju" for Galaxy Nexus "maguro" (GSM/HSPA+) (with Google Wallet)
Android 4.1.1 (JRO03C)
I flashed this using GN Toolkit. While setup it prompted for Google Wallet, I just skipped it. Later this app or other mentioned apps didn't show up.
Solution: Defrosted using Titanium Backup * Root (solution by by efrant)

I guess Google figured it out and closed the loophole. Have you tried installing a custom rom instead like the one by Bigxie that already have those gapps? it's basically stock with root.

You can use Titanium Backup to "defrost" them, and they will work. But you will have to defrost them every time you reboot.
I'm not sure why they don't show up, or how to make them show up without Titanium Backup.

Yeah I tried the rom you mentioned "[ROM][OTA][GSM][JB] JRO03C 4.1.1: Rooted Busybox Deodexed & Odexed". . . but the result was same.
But I didn't try any custom rom which are not stock.
WORKED!!!

Hello!
I just jumped into the big boy pool and rooted my Galaxy Nexus so that I could put Jelly Bean on it.
That went fine and Jelly Bean is working perfectly on it. However, on my GSM phone, the only options I have for the mobile networks are LTE and CDMA. I've flashed 3 different GSM radio files to my phone and none of them give me GSM options.
At the moment, I have an AndroidPod touch. Obviously I've done something wrong..... what?

Well either you're flashing the wrong rom (which I don't think it'll let you do since you are on maguro and there is a check in place) or the wrong radios... you're getting your radios from here? and your roms from this forum?
I'm seeing something similar after flashing to Jelly Bean from bigxie. I can't use Google Talk, Google Now, can't download apps from Play, and my wifi and signal bars are grey instead of blue (not connected to google server).
I was thinking of giving this one a try.
Currently: "Jellybean 4.1 JRN84D Stock, Rooted, Busybox, Deodexed + New Radio!" from bigxie
Baseband: i9250UGLC1
Bootloader: JRN84D
Kernel: 3.0.31-ge8de0e2

I was having same issue, and I've been able to solve it by following the "6. The Ultimate Framework Wipe" in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377514 by Miasmic
"This is gonna be a bit longer, read and follow carefully.
1) Go to the application management screen of "Google Play Store".
2) Clear cache of "Google Play Store".
3) Force stop "Google Play Store".
DO NOT CLEAR DATA OF "Google Play Store".
4) Go to the application management screen of "Google Services Framework".
5) Clear data of "Google Services Framework".
6) Confirm it.
7) LONG PRESS POWER MENU AND REBOOT RIGHT NOW. ON THIS SCREEN.
8) Open Google Play Store, open "My Apps" list and check whether all your apps are there."
It worked fine for me. Hope it helps.
Hey guys, after searching around a bit I learned that in order to get apps you need a file manager, which I have, but it also says I need a market. I checked the dev forum and I couldn't really find anything. I tried google, alas to no avail. My google fu isn't very strong.
This question must've been asked before and I apoligize, but I'm at a loss for where I'm supposed to go.
In a nutshell, I'm wondering how I can install apps on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running the latest Codename Android rom. Apps such as facebook, angry birds, etc.
The apps you usually access in the google play store. I tried accessing it on my computer, though when trying to download them I was told I haven't accessed the market on my google device.
Any help you can offer would be great, thank you again!

I'm no CNA expert, but there are two common ways (not counting TB restores, etc) to install apps on Android:
1. Via the play store
2. By installing an .apk file manually
Can you access the play store on you device? Are you logged in with your Google account on your device?

I can't access the play store, atleast, the play store app isn't on my device. When I try through my phone's browser play.google website tells me that I haven't accessed the market on my device. I am logged in with my google account on my device.

You need to flash GAPPS. I'm not sure if the CNA dev recommends a particular version, if not, flash the latest one.

You flash it via recovery, just like a ROM.

Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
From the OP at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414422
Gapps: http://download.androtransfer.com/AndroidUser00110001/gapps/gapps_ics_404_06042012.zip
There's instructions in the first link too. Make sure you read through the whole OP and check the following two or three posts as the OP usually posts another message for updates/changes, etc.
**Assuming you're running the Maguro. If you're on the Toro (verizon or sprint) you'll need to find that post if you need the ROM again but gapps will work with both versions.**
Thanks to all of you! I figured it out, got GAPPS, and am alot more comfortable in my understanding of my phone and cwm, etc. Thanks again!
Nice going.

Which ROM did you come from?
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
BAMF.
I did all the wipes needed before flashing.
or am i missing something
Are you getting an error message? Try unlinking your Google account from settings, wiping data from play store, reboot and open play store. You'll have to type in your Google info again but usually fixes it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
well, at first is says 'unable to get info' or something like that, then it managed to start downloading but would get stuck at 1 or 2 percent.
also, the google play homepage shows verizon apps, i downloaded another gapps package for xxxxO0C gNex, but still show verizon..
I don't get mine either. Now I use app2zip and flash my old ones in recovery
*This Jedi master be a Ninj-ESS*
Reflashed the rom last night, and everything seems to be working fine now :cyclops:
also, in every rom i've tried, none seems to have vibration on phone calls or received messages...
Yeah, i went a different route and tried a restore. Lost root and haven't been able to get it back either.

Hi there,
my old S720t died yesterday (with ICS). I managed to root that one and also install Google Play. Everything worked fine...
Today I bought the same phone again but this one comes with JB and I cannot get Google Play installed anymore. I read many threads in this forum but nothing worked for me. Did anyone successfully install Google Play under Jelly Bean on that China Mobile phone?
If not, where can I get the really latest APKs for the google services?

Thanks Matt95, that actually pointed me in the right direction. Normal market did not work out but installing the black market via CWM recovery has been successful.
Looks like just putting the files in the system/app does not work; but installing the black market zip via CWM Recovery worked perfect. :good:

I don't care if it's Jellybean or Kitkat, stock or AOSP. I just want working NFC/Google Wallet.
I already have Knox 0x1 so I'll try anything.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I just flashed the MyRom Revolution v3 and my apps didnt automatically sync so I went to the play store to manually download my apps and I was able to download the google wallet app put my information. I haven't tried it yet cause my card isn't loaded with money but maybe you can try it out. It told me to turn on nfc and haven't had an error when I did so or didnt get the google wallet isn't compatible or get any forecloses. I even ordered the actual google mastercard through the app. I just haven't put it to action.
Oh and I had google wallet installed in my note 2 with the mods they had, so thats why it showed up in my apps. Goodluck
I thought this would be a good time to re-ask the question, now that Kitkat is out. Anybody know of a Kitkat ROM with working NFC?
