Anyone has any luck finding a decent car dock for the Ion? I enjoyed using my Atrix for my car, but without a car dock, the option does not exist for my Ion.
I have used Arkon in the past with subpar results, so I would prefer something made for the Ion.

I'm trying to find a decent universal one so whichever phone I am using that day I can put it in the car dock.

This a Garmin Nuvi mount which was modified to fit a Samsung Captivate and I've used it since then for my Thrill and now my newly acquired Ion. You can find the thread in the Captivate section.

i found this to work quite nicely! The only thing about this is that you cant have it grip horizontally while using the air vent mount (I dont think it says in description but they also have a window mount attachment and a air vent mount) air vent mount is not very good in my opinion as it does not fit in some cars.
I cant post links since i am still under 10 posts but search this in amazon:
Mivizu Universal Windshield/Dashboard Car Holder Cradle for Samsung Galaxy S3, S2, Note, Nexus, Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, iPhone 4s
Does anyone know if Xperia S accessories can work for the Ion? I think I remember hearing that their dimension are pretty much identical, otherwise I will look into that Garmin dock

Made similar holders for my HTC Desire and SGS2.
There are instructions on the internet - http://goo.gl/jNjzi
With Desire it went perfectly. When I made same holder for SGS2 I purchased hard case which was too stiff and therefore it was a bit hard to take the phone out. Also suction pad of second Garmin mount had to be of lower quality because it stopped sucking on to the wind-shield.
If you are lucky with parts (Garmin mount and hard case) then you'll have excellent car colder for a very low price.

Now for my XS (which is yet to arrive) I'm thinking about universal Clingo car holder.
Anyone here has experience with them?

So I'm looking for a car dock. I want something that can mount to my windshield and rest at just below the dash level..excuse my crude photoshop, but I think showing you all what I mean would probably result in a better set of suggestions.

So that position, while it looks pretty low is only about 8-10 inches from the windshield. Id rather avoid a cluttered dash mount/pad. I'm also not crazy about the idea of the air vent mounts as that doesnt seem like a very long-term or stable platform. As for the audio out, are there any docks with an audio out...basically giving the user the ability to run both audio and power to one side of the device?
well why not one of these?
buy a longer windshield mount once you see if it is the center pin style or the 4 pin model?
that is what im planning on doing

I had a windshield mount but when making sharp curves or adjusting it, it would slide off. (Sliding off would weaken the suction but pulling on it was okay...
if you want an easy and low key to mount, your EVO, I would invest in an extra battery cover that has been modified with magnets, then place some magnets on your dashboard (if placed properly they might look like part of the dashboard). Just switch at the beginning and end of your trips.
This is the nicest one I have found yet with the most features and a great price.

that is a great price.. but i dont see power/audio... which OP was asking...
A dock with audio is impossible unless it has Bluetooth built-in. The only audio output pins on the Evo are in the headphone port.
No it don't it just leaves the port open so you can hook up to it but its nice it has the length and a nice feature I like is it keeps the camera open while still docked

Have been using this mount for a little over a week and can say that it is awesome. The thing I like the most is the mount. It is sticky and mounts to almost any surface, even the rounded portion of my dash. It does get dirty and needs to have some water run over it every once in a while to clean it off. The part that holds the phone is hard to use one handed, but holds the phone really well. It opens up to hold any phone and mostgps units. I picked this up on amazon for just under 20 bucks.

I got the mount on Saturday. I think it works pretty well for what it was worth. It definitely requires two hands to take in and out. It seems to hold pretty solid on the dash.
Sorry the pictures aren't that great. They were taken with my Thunderbolt.
just wanted to add I have this mount and have been using it with no problems. I also have a nook tablet that I put the suction cup on the back of and clip to the headrest to let my daughter watch movies for long trips. Its very versitile.
Just tossed one of these in favor of the Samsung mount. Much easier to work with.
Bad experience!

I bought this car mount 32 days ago & It's already broken!!
I used it in my car for a Galaxy S2 device with a sunlight protector (as was recommended on exogear's site).
For the record, I'v been known for my gentle treatment for all of my things, in particular, the technological one's.
The damage was a broken grip (the one that holds the cell-phone), just near the red rubber.
Be careful guys\ladies - waste of 30$.
I ordered a vehicle mount from Amazon and had to return it. The "arms" that held the phone in place covered the volume rocker. Only way to make it work was to sit it in the there not centered and that just looked bad. Paid $25 for it so I didn't want to have to do that just to make it work.
Has anyone gotten a vehicle mount that works properly? Preferably from Amazon?
Here is what I ordered before.
I personally just make my own. Buy a reasonably cheap hard case from eBay, and combine it with a Garmin sat nav mount also from eBay. Some heavy duty Velcro and it works great. Did the same with my desire. Means I can interchange for when I am driving or my partner now she has the desire. Also cost about £6 in materials and postage.

Based on what I heard other people say in this forum I went with this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z8ZLOS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Also checked some reviews on youtube.. just got it yesterday so I can let you know how it goes by end of next week...
I normally go with Arkon. I had one mount for 4 years, it charged it too. However it finally went out. And yes, you can get it from amazon prime : )
I ordered an electronic cheapo from hk for $10. It has adjustable everything. It even handled my atrix very well considering the spot of usb and hdmi on that. And it has to two flip out arms on bottom. I just use the one on the left so I can plug my 3.5mm jack in.
My grandma beat me down and took my nexus. Sent from a jitterbug with beats by dre.
Thanks for the responses. I just ordered the Arkon one. That one looks like it should work really well!

Here's the mount I ordered until Proclip starts shipping their mount:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XAF4YQ/ref=oh_o04_s00_i00_details
I posted a pic up there with my gnex in it. The mount is flimsy compared to the proclip I used with my dinc for 2 years but I didn't expect much for $15.
The Gnex fits in it just fine and no buttons or ports are covered. Didn't want to drop $50 on the crappy VZW mount only to pitch it when my proclip comes. My Xterra doesn't have a lot of places to set it and I was tried of it sliding off my leg and smacking into the door on turns
After using it for a few days I will say I wish it stayed attached to my AC vent a little better but generally it does what it says and stays put.
http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/mobile-grip-dashboard-mount-mg178.html
Very similar to the exo mount posted here too.
I really want the Samsung GSM one though...

I now have my phone mounted with my its protective gel case for my speakerphone listening pleasure while I ride.

Which model is this, and on what type of bike are you mounting it? I've been looking for a solid bike mount.
Here are a few more pictures to get a view of the bike and how it's mounted.

The bike is a hybrid mount road bike that I use for a 6 mile (each way 5 day a week commute). I use the phone as a speaker for music and GPS when needed. The mount has three types of prongs that re of different length depending on the size of your device. The mount is originally made for a motorcycle but the base is for a bicycle. I use the mount with my casemate case and it fits snuggley. I bought it from Amazon for $41.27, which I think is a steal considering that I could fit all types of device on believe it will last at least two to three years with regular use based on the strength of the material. You can easily take the mount and the arm off the bike so that it wont be easily stolen and you have to screw the based on to your bike.
If you do happen to buy one the instructions are not very clear, but the screws go through the bottom of the holder and the nuts though the top.
Well worth the money in my opinion. You can even buy other bases that will go in your car or on other bikes or other areas.
Very happy with this...

Hi all,
Just wondering what people recommend for a decent mount for an evo lte? Since the power chord is on the side, I'd probably prefer something that will let me mount the phone sideways so that the chord is handing straight down, rather then hanging off the side. I don't care about the phone auto-switching into car/navigation mode. I just want something that makes the phone accessible and visible and that preferably doesn't block the speaker on the phone either.
Any suggestions?
I got a wal mart one that isn't suction cup it sits on the dash and is very good and is a universal one I'll post pics in the am. It was $20 and is pretty sturdy. Like I said I'll post pics in the morning of my ltevo in it. I drove from mid TN to fort Knox with it in it and had no issues at all. It doesn't slide around or move the slightest bit it has like some type of rubbery plastic on the under side that grips the dash and even when I take it off I have mild difficulty because it holds so well.

I've had good luck with mounts by Arkon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E5W3D4
I went with that one - had it for a couple of days now and i'm pretty happy with it. The only minor complaint I had is the screw you turn to tighten the clamp blocks the screen a little bit on my radio, but only a small amount. And i guess if you don't have a cd player, this would also be a big negative

Good and EVO suggested one by proclip for a vehicle specific mount for your EVO LTE
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
The mounts from pro-clip do look pretty nice. Although they are also pretty pricey since it starts at $65 once you include the vehicle mount. On the other hand, having a phone mount that's specifically made for both your car and your phone is really nice. I might have considered getting one since it would be nice having a phone mount that you can just slide the phone in and out of, rather then always having to tighten some grips and then loose them to remove the phone.
If HTC ever gets off their butts and makes an EVO LTE specific mount they are pretty sweet. I picked a couple up for my EVO 3D and was quite impressed. They aren't vehicle specific though.
