I guess I'm the ICS representative. Jmzs CM9 nightlies, Team DIRTs RemICS-UX or ParanoidAndroid.

That 1 :good:

I love Energy Rom myself for stability purposes

There are so many opinions on the different Rom's that are available for the OG Evo 4g from Sprint. It is basically up to you in the long run, just depends what you like and how you react to different things. My personal opinion is to go with DigitalKarmas Jackpot Deluxe Edition, which is the ONLY, I repeat ONLY Rom that I have ran that is fast, stable, no force closes, and particularly crisp. I've tried every single Rom available for the Evo and I still to this day cannot get enough of DK's Rom. Like I said, everyone has totally different opinions on how they like and want their Rom to be, act, feel, look and run, so its solely based upon your liking. Hope I helped

Thank you for your input everyone I have a question.... what does rc1 and nightlies mean I know the roms go in order as release candidates and other names like that but what is the order they go in like would rc1 be the first update of the rom I thought nightlies was one of the first releases of the roms so I always stay away from those.... also I'm not running on the sprint network I'm on cricket I found the Droid gtr 1.6 Tom and its pretty smooth right now thank you guys I will try out some of your suggestions....

Best/Favorable ROMs?

Searching through these forums, I was overwhelmed with all the ROM options.
I ask you, what are your favorite ROMs and what separates them from the competition?
minez are CM6 and Virus rom revolution those are nice CM6 because its something different big time and virus rom because its good on the battery and its fast
Good question.
Try them all and see what you like. It's all about personal preference.
I like Damage Control and Cyanogen Rom's
Also, this would be a good question to put in the Q&A rather than the development section.
i have tried them all and keep going back to CM6
OBTW this should be in general
Baked Snack, then CM6
If you want to ditch sense, Cyanogen is the way to go. If you like Sense, gotta keep it Freshhhhhhhh
Damage and fresh are the most popular sense roms
CM is the most popular senseless rom.
Force
I love Calkulin evio series rom. Then baked snack followed by cm 6
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk.
Definitely like CM the best...but because 4g, hdmi, and fm radio dont work.....I run fresh's latest rom with toast/netarchy's kernel. I also like some of the htc and sense apps/widgets. Fresh is quick and stable for a sense rom with some extra tweaks in it.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Most roms are good, although they are pretty similar so just go with whatever seems like the best to you. Damage Control, Fresh, and Baked Snack seem like the most popular. Fresh is a really nice and stable rom that has a great updater app. Baked Snack is my favorite though (atm). The optional kernels really make it great for tailoring your experience.
nm 10 cahr
I've tried most of them also but Caulkin's is the whole package to me Fast, stable and pretty much everything is working. CM6 is great but with no 4g or hdmi I'll have to wait to they get everything working.
cm 6 is tight..
Sent from ANDROIKAY ON CM6 from xda app =]
No matter how far I stray into other rom's I try I always go back to cyanogen. It's just nice to not have sense. Even without parts working it's the best.
Fresh and baked snack are nice though. Especially with netarchy/toast custom kernel.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I switch between Fresh, Ava's and CM6. It's nice to have choices that don't take a ton of work to swap on your phone. These Dev's are awesome and do great work, so try them all and see what you like. You can always just do an nandroid restore and move on to the next rom until you find the best fit for you.
Damage Control has great battery life.

[Q] ROM Suggestions

My girlfriend's Incredible is still running 2.2, rooted, and has mms issues (as in they don't work). I'm looking for a good stable ROM, sense based, and fast. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Redemption is a good one. Looks like stock with just a few changes to make it more appealing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768626
Incredible HD
Are you looking to upgrade to 2.3 or stick with 2.2?
If you want to stick with 2.2, my vote is for SkyRaider 4.3 on the Team Bamf site. It is my all-time favorite. I don't use it anymore simply because it is still 2.2.
I've got no advice on sense 2.3, as I use AOSP now.
I gotta have me some notification toggles (which SkyRaider has)....
+1
Skyraider is an excellently built ROM and is extremely stable.
First rom I ever used

Thanks for the suggestions guys, much appreciated. Weekend project time now! I don't know which one I'm going with yet, but I might just flash a 2.2 rom one day and a 2.3 the next and see which one she likes more.

I know this is kind of a late response but, I'd suggest checking out Gingerbread-Inc-Deck. It is very stable and very smooth. Or, there's Bugless Beast. It is fairly stable but really fast! More of a stock ROM...

i just installed the stock+ rom... so far so good.
i like the stock phone but wanted to fix things like ext4 to fix the low memory issues which lead me to needing non-stock kernel. stock+ rom / kernel got installed this morning and so far so good!
Did you try the messaging icon under all apps? Sometimes I have to remove the messaging icon on the main screen and drag the all-apps one back to the front screen. Then all is fine again...not sure why???
I've personally tried a few Sense 3.5 ROMs and the upgrades to the interface are really slick. I'd definitely recommend giving a couple of them a shot.
Try Nils Business Gingersense 3.5 or Prime XL 3D to get a feel for it.
Cyanogenmod 7 with the new Incredikernel is my favorite, if she do without the 720p recording give that a try.

CM7 is a great aosp rom.. Stable fast and highly customizable.
Tommy Tomatoes Classic is a great Sense 1.0 rom that has a huge community of themers, mods and developers. Very stable and fast. Im using it now as a daily driver.
MIUI is a good aosp rom that's pretty smooth.very useful to make iphone users mad and envy you lol

is CM7 still the go-to for stability? I used to run that on some of my older HTC devices.
As for the TTC, is that going to be noticeably slow with sense on it? thanks!
The classic is so fast lol.. It doesn't lag one bit.
As for cm7 it's my personal favorite when I feel the need for aosp. It's up to you. But if I had to choose for you I would say TTC. it gives you all the beauty of sense but has great battery life and speed with a huge collection of themes, tweaks and mods

Have a look at MIUI Roms it's fast and smooth no 4g yet but don't let that discourage you. It's highly customizable from lock screen to boot animations. It has everything. It's what I am using today.
MIUI 2.2.6 by Swiperat. Hands down!
The Express
Basically turns your Evo into a tablet.

you should flash miui its the smoothest IV been on, cm 7.2. synergy roms are godly for a sence type warm two point three is smooth as well. if your in to gaming try cm 7.2 with snapturbo 7.6 its the highest benchmark you can get
I am still pretty new to Roms but I love MikG 3.0 that I just installed. It is stable and has good options and a few nice themes people have made. I also previously used Warm 2.2 which was pretty awesome. There is a Warm 2.3 which was nice but didn't have 4G connectivity.
Evervolv ICS
If you're interested in ICS, I'd recommend Evervolv ICS, as the devs in charge are constantly pioneering new features and additions to their ROM. As of February 19, 2012, you can find the latest version of Evervolv ICS here.

Best ROM right now?

Hi everyone, just a simple question. I am looking for the best overall ICS rom for the T989 right now. Is it worth flashing now or should I wait for Jelly Bean rom or any other rom? Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm using Darkside Evolution 3 v7 ICS rom and it works flawlessly. Best ICS rom I've ever used.

So far Aokp is my DD right now I like to the stock feeling of ICS and not touchwiz

Ah dissenting opinions! So there is no de facto rom?
That's like asking what the best car is. Its subjective.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Let the flashing begin...
Personally, I've stuck with Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) since its release. Although it looks very stock, it's very stable with an amazing kernel and battery life.
AOKP and cm9 are amazing (I'll be flashing cm9 again once we get our release candidate).
AOKP feels like cm based ROM with a little more to offer but with that being said, neither feel as stable as a stock based ROM for our phones at the present time.
You'll always get a biased opinion so I'd suggest flashing some of the more popular roms by checking each thread and good luck buddy!

I've been wondering the same. Reading through the forums, I determined Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) was the most popular. It took a few flashes before I was able to get it working right on my phone, but it runs similar to stock. The only way you'll be able to tell if you like it is if you give it a try.
aokp..... more tweaks.... less bloats, stable, fast.

Try ParanoidAndroid, this ROM is awesome.

I'm gonna say AOKP. I've tried all of the aforementioned ROMs and I have settled on AOKP because of the amazing battery life, customization and the AOSP theme it comes with. AOKP has also become very stable as of recently, rivaling the stability of Darkside. I used to run Darkside when it first came out, but now I can't get over the very stock feel/look. If you enjoy the tweaking, I would suggest AOKP. If not, then go with Darkside. If you want something in the middle, go with CM.
+1 on AOKP and link is in the sig. Darkside is also a great ROM just depends on your preference of touchwiz or stock. Both are the top ROMs imo.
Either AOKP or anything DARKSIDE.

I find it funny anytime I see one of these threads and find it even funnier when I see how many people answer. Its probably easier to say what not to use....LOL
Lets be honest thousands of people use this forum and if only 20 actually answer this thread I am quite sure all of the dozen or so roms will be mentioned... This question is like mentioned earlier is subjective and no way can you find a definitive answer in here....
I hate stock but there are some advantages to it, I love CM9 but also enjoy some of the tweaks of AOKP... I just load them all up get them to how I like it and nandroid them all... Problem solved
OP good luck but instead of reading our crazy posts get to flashing
AOKP
I am on AOKP Milestone 6. Was gonna try Darkside, but liked aokp and dont see any reason to switch.
There are few things that will not work with AOKP.
1) WIFI calling
2) Audio out via the car dock.
If those are not issues, try it out.

So, what is the ROM of choice for most to offer??

I used the CM9 Rom on my Epic and generally enjoyed it. With the SG3, what seems to be the Rom of choice for most to offer and stability?

All the touchwiz rom are stable, the difference between them are themes and features like multi window. 4.2 AOSP roms are a w.I.p imo, but the little bugs can be tolerated.

I dont yet have this phone, but I love Sense. Sense, sense, sense roms all the way
Especially Sense 4.0+. Beautiful.
MIUI seems kinda bland to me, but AOSP is simple and sweet

it sounds like most people like either CM10 or AOSP. any techies out there able to explain what one has that the other does not? I have used CM for years, but unfamiliar with AOSP. The other thing i liked having for the Epic, was I was able to switch back and forth between the stock rom and CM9 for Sprint updates. Can i still do that with the GS3? I was looking for the Stock Rom to have as a zip but did not find it on the forum. Helps with Sprint updates

CM is an AOSP style rom.
Transmitted with a portable device using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
what does CM10 offer that the stock rom does not?
Fo sho its the Rom to have and use is the Chemistry Rom because I have a GS3 fleshed to boost and all my main functions I need all work with this ROM. My mms and my voice mail. And with Ktweaks kernel I am getting some serious battery time on this ROM so its over all the perfect ROM right now to have. And my man Sac is there every step of the way to give support and help with any issues
If you use cm10 or any aosp or aokp rom you lose all the goodies in touchwiz like motion effects.

It gives you a clean, stock android look, theme able, no bloatware, uses less ram. I have heard better battery life but I don't know. It has CM10 tweaks. If you can wait till cm10.1 is stable, it should be pretty awesome.

Most of the roms in the Dev section are rock solid (minus a few bugs which are normal in almost everything) the only way to figure out which you are going to like is to read the OP of a few that sound interesting, flash and take it for a drive (give a day or two typically) unless you can't stand it. MOAR, TPR, and FAT ASS (Cartman Edition of TPR) are all great TW based roms, offer all the fun of normal TW.. Incredible themeing options via Morphology.
Free GS3 is another great rom (from what i hear) as well. I haven't personally ran this one either, but does work with Morphology for themeing options.
Just scan the dev section. You'll find a good fit.

Well buddy that's a matter of personal preference. Find out what you like your phone to do and find a rom that suit your needs. Unfortunately you won't get a definitive answer on this subject. Trial and error until you find what you like.
