Toggle airplane mode. I usually drop to edge a few times a day. Its an ics issue, not s3 issue. Saw the same thing on my inspire and my captivate
I have the same issue in my galaxy s 4g as well.. I have to reboot.

There have issues reported with the uvlh1 modem. Perhaps you have a very weak signal? Maybe flash a different modem?
Well. I have tried other radios as well. Whenever i restart my phone, it takes time for the network to register. How long does it take for your network to register after a restart?
About signals, the signals are full in my area.

I'm having the same problem /: It doesn't matter what Radio i flash either.
It takes about 4 mins to almost half an hour to register.
I just booted into Recovery to do something and then rebooted and its almost been an hour and it won't register. I'm without signal right now, all I have is Wifi.
I can reboot it, battery pull, search for network (T-Mo and AT&T both appear, but when I tap on T-Mo it stays registering forever) and nothing.
This is driving me nuts. It's been going on for almost a month now.

So far the fastest registered radio for me is the uvle1 but it has broken voice problems for the call receivers on my phone.
I guess we are the only ones having this issue.. no solution so far

I have continued issues with receiving picture texts.... I almost always have to tell the sender to send it once more for it to come through. I've also noticed my H bars turning from Blue to Grey when this happens.... Any ideas as to what could be causing this? At&t looks dumbfounded every time I go in or call about this....

TBH, it sounds like an ATT issue.
I know the common thought is that grey bars means lost connections to Google, but when that happens to me, I have always lost network connectivity.

Remove your Google account then add again. Reboot.
Edit, custom ROM? I went back to stock because of many random issues since 4.1.2 was officially released.

mms is either apn related problem or just bad coverage (no good data in area)
you can google different apn settings to try
I have to use go smd to view mms depending on what ROM I'm using.

I flash alot of roms on my galaxy s2 and about a week ago my data completely disappeared. My calls and texting worked but no internet whatsoever. I could use wifi but that's it. I found a quick fix that may work for you too.
I read that this is a known problem with the phone and T-Mobile will replace if under warranty but I'm not with T-Mobile so I'm assed out lol.
Ok here we go. Its very simple:
Menu, settings, wireless settings, toggle airplane mode repeatedly and rapidly till you see the E for edge. Stop to see if it comes up fully. If not reboot phone and try again.
Note: I rebooted twice before it came back on fully.
Hope this helps

lol a reboot has always fixed it.
A reboot does not always fix I rebooted 20 times with no results. After I toggled is when I got results

I am looking for a longer term fix. Loosing data causes my google voice to hang up on calls for some reason... I can get it back on by toggling 2g, data sync, airplane mode etc, but I am looking for a long term fix.
Unfortunately the only long term fix is to send back to Samsung to be fixed and even that is not guaranteed.

I keep losing data randomly and the only fix is to cycle airplane mode. Any idea what's going on?

I'm having the same issue but the app didn't fix anything. It only started the last week or two, and I've only been using CM10 and nothing else. I've flashed the different radios, including the new one, the L7? Did that today and still haven't noticed any thing different.
Not sure if it's the ROM after a certain date or something.
I have always had roaming on and national roaming on too. Never had issues in getting 4G until the data started cutting out completely.
Any other suggestions? I don't think apps are going to help.
It also seems that I'll have WiFi when the phone is on, but when I put it to sleep, it switches to data. When using data in the car and I put the phone to sleep, then it goes from data to no-data.
Real frustrating.

That app is just a gimmick... why else would it hide the status bar? It most likely just toggles airplane mode like i have been.
same issue also I am on codefirex 11/11/12 build. for me I will lose 3g after approx 30 mins of use and then no service....so I reboot the pH and I get 3g back.

What is the trick to get the mobile data to kick in. The signal bars show signal but they are greyed out, not blue like when connected. I tried updating profile and prl but cannot connect even tried over WiFi but no luck. Sprint GNex GA02 modems.
I never had this problem with my OG Epic4g

You have your Google account syncing?
No will not connect.but not getting 3g services im stuck on 1x flash any other rom and I'm good sprint profile updates signal is there all blue lit up

The pick is not of the issue but that is what the bars look like this us pa3 with mobile data off
Try different radios. Fh05 work much better than ga02 for me
Ya in my area I don't have 4g yet so I rely on 3g for everything

Happened to me on BB7 and the fix was to change from LTE/CDMA to just CDMA (or vice versa) uncheck mobile data wait 15 or so seconds then turn it back on and then if/when I saw the 3g icon Id update profile then prl.
I have tried that, and mine still isn't blue. I switched from TouchWiz to CM10 last week and at first, the signal bars and WiFi indicator were both blue. Now they are grey. And yes, my Sync is on.

I worded that a little weird. At first, when I started using CM10, the indicators were blue. Now, they are grey.
