[DISCUSSION]JANDYCANE?-seems legit - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hmmm..... In the past few days I've seen few threads lately about whats the Next Google Android OS will be. Some say "Key Lime Pie" and some say "KandyCane". Today I've found somewhat odd file when i tried to decompile JellyBean SystemUI.apk (see photo attachment below). Isn't odd they named it "JandyCane"? Perhaps its just a typo or a clue for the "J" OS will be named, since Google love to named there OS by delicious treat names. Looking forward to your feedback. Tnx.

The "J" OS is Jelly Bean. This has been noted in the second Candy Cane thread. It's either just a candy candy cane thrown in there for fun or, as some people have posted, probably hints that the next OS will be released by Christmas.

Perhaps your right. Maybe, just maybe Google are just planning just to merge "JellyBean" and "KandyCane". Like ICS 4.0.x to 4.1.x....
^^^^ My thoughts.

[Theme] Greendroid preview- News update 1/20/09

I am working on Greendroid, since Orangedroid is complete, even though the camera doesn't work for some reason. (I've tried to figure it out, to no avail)
Anyways, I am going to make a theme that replaces all the standard orange highlights with android-green ones, and make a few other green-themed changes. It will basically be the default theme, with green accents. It will be a few days before I get a beta ready, since I have a lot of .9.png errors to ry and fix (if anyone can help me with those, that'd be much appreciated). But if you'd like to help, or have questions, comments, etc. Let me know.
Quick teaser attached.
Looking forward to this theme.
YES!!! good lookin, i hella needed this theme
Well this looks to be suspended indefinitely, as the .9.png files I have to change don't ever seem to work. They work fine in the 9-patch program, but on the phone they refuse to stretch correctly. So unless there comes a fix for this, I cannot replace all the orange drawables like I wanted. :-/
Update: Good news and bad news people.
Good news: Stericson has come to the rescue, YET AGAIN! And figured out how to fix my .9.png files. In other words, this theme will be made, and come out.
Bad news: The source I used to make the files is based from the android cupcake build, so I won't be able to make a usable version until cupcake is released at the end of the month. But hey, that's not too long from now.

That is assuming that the rumors that it is actually being released this month are true...

Yay for the good news...
Not sure working against a dev branch at this point is going to keep you sane. Who knows how much more will alter prior to going gold. I hope for your sake only minor adjustments are needed

Android Codenames

Maybe i am a little naive but I have only just noticed that not only do Google names their firmware for Android after delicious sounding pastries, BUT they also do it in alphabetical order too!
Untitled initial release - 1.1 (lame/lazy effort by Google!)
Cupcake - 1.5
Donut - 1.6
Eclair - 2.0/2.1
Froyo - 2.2
Gingerbread - 3.0
Honeycomb - 3.1/3.2 ?
Ii was trying to figure out what dessert started with an I and couldnt come up with a good one :/
Ice Cream maybe? xD
If that's the case it probably started with Biscuit and will go to Ice Cream after Honeycomb!

have you only just noticed this back in the days of cupcake and donut we use to have threads deadacted to guessing what pasty google would use next lol
Also ubuntu distributions do this to.

Ice Cream seems too odd in the pattern to me...
all the releases have been a single word - and also Ice Cream is probably too similar to FroYo to come in line... although I can't think of anything else
Also they'll probably change the name anyway if people guess it too early!

ota is coming today on nexus so hope that we can port it (until source comes)
Thanks for effort Adam.
But this is the same ugly froyo UI if you ask me..Cant wait for Sense Gingerbread roms!
Have they mentioned when the source code will become available?
Thanks . Can't wait
In the coming weeks
When do you think we can expect to see a 2.3 oxygen rom?

Exactly this, it looks horrid!! Google, for all their power, cannot design an attractive UI
Really hope the UI is improved.... doesn't look promising. Can't see any improvements yet.
2.3 is a minor update the major ui update isnt expected untill 3.0
anyway the updates listed in the SDK look very good for the Android platform

Agreed, I've always hated the stock Google UI and somehow (if those screenshots are a true reflection of Gingerbread) they've made it worse!
Well the new keyboard looks good
I personally feel that the Google UI is way better than than the Sense UI. It's much more snappier.
Love the behind the scenes tweaks, but the UI isn't great. Take a page out of iOS for pete's sake.

[Q]ICS theme

Who's interested in building this? Don't know if anyone is working on it so I thought I'd post before starting on one.
I hate having my time wasted working on something that someone else is doing, so please speak up.

I'm interested. A dev (sonnysekhon) is working on an ICS theme for cm7, so we could use that as our base.
This is his theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310925
Obviously, there are a few bugs with some of the icons at the top, but once those are fixed, it's almost drag and drop for us. (for some things...since it's not tw based, which you already know)

I was going to use the framework from the system dump.
Qbking and I were talking about it last night on gtalk, so I thought I'd start the thread. I can probably get a good base theme built this weekend, but don't want to step on any toes.
BTW I would use EH17 as a base since a GB ota seems imminent at this time.

By the way...
I know you guys are only doing a theme, just wanted to post relevant info..
This man from the Desire is currently working on a Desire Port of ICS sdk.
(currently trying to get it to boot, but is running into errors of course, none the less, he's had progress.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310914
This man is from the G2 and Desire z, and is currently working on a Port of ICS SDK as well.
(currently he has it sucessfully booted, but no response from the screen, none the less, progress from the previous guy)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309854
And this Man stole an Ice Cream Sandwhich 3 days ago, coincidence much?
(None the less, he said he was sorry, and that he only had 3 dollars, so he didn't pay for it)

Hahaha.
I've heard sdk ports are wonky. And I could imagine I went looking through the dump and the damn thing is practically empty. It has images so that people can at least at most theme the status bar, but no roaming images or anything else for that matter. So odd.
I have a feeling a more recent leaked build dump will popup soon.

Yes I completely agree, after looking through the framework and SystemUI dump its only partial at best. I was hoping to find some new ringers/ui/notifications but that was empty except for 2 files.
Did anyone notice that they had battery meter pngs in the SystemUI.apk? WTF is that about, and they still remained in the framework too... Strange...
I thought about building a theme on the NS4G but after looking at the missing pieces and stuff I decided to pass until a more complete dump is available.
Did notice many new additional pngs in the framework now to play with that we didn't have before.. Overlays, and different glows to inputs/keys... Misc here and there...
Good luck guys, post a boat load of screenies so we can see what it looks like when you have something to flash

Halo is now open source

http://androidcommunity.com/paranoid-android-halo-goes-open-source-20130610/
Is there any chance of this getting ported to a stock rom sometime in the future?
I realize it would probably be through xposed framework though
though this is also great news for people who use PAC and revolt roms
Awww.. I was kinda dissappointed... I was thinking "wow, an actual Microsoft title going open source? it'd be awesome to shoot things up..."
