Android process acore has stopped - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi there,
I have got a samsung galaxy nexus. 2days ago I have been asked to have the general system updated. Since the update I cannot use my phone."unfortunately the process android.process.acore. has stopped" keep apearing on my screen. I cannot write SMS, play games, make calls. Any idea what I should be doing in order to fix this annoying issue?
Thanks a lot for your help
Joelle

Is your phone stock or rooted?

If you're phone is rooted then you will need to wipe and re flash, if it's not rooted you could try a factory reset and see if that fixes it. I had this happen before when I accidentally restored system data with titanium backup.

Settings app got uninstalled?

I was trying out various TTS engines from the market, and when I went to uninstall one of them as soon as I pressed the uninstall button, it exited to the home screen. Now when I try to access the settings I get "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone"
Is there a way I can get another copy of the settings app? I really dont want to do a factory reset. My phone is rooted.
What ROM are you running? The only one I've ever had that problem with is the stock RUU's. Only way I know how to fix it is either flash a different ROM or do a full wipe from the bootloader.
I am unrooted stock, and I had a run of about a week, when I first got the phone, of bootloops, force closes, and missing system apps. One time, google core services disappeared. Two factory resets later, I have no issues at all. It's been about a month since then.
I am using the stock ROM. I really want to try and avoid the factory reset if possible though

To avoid a reset you could root and put a stock Rom on there

The stock ROM seems to have issues with apps disappearing. I had that same issue, but with my alarm not working.
I'd recommend two things.
1. Only doing a factory reset will fix the issue. You will lose your data, there's no way around that.
2. Root your phone and install RMK's debloated ROM. You will still lose your data but you can do much more with your phone.

If he backs up stuff before, like right after root. He could keep his stuff. It's what I did

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. If it's common with the stock ROM then I will just use a different ROM and hopefully avoid the issue happening again.

Sprint Galaxy Nexus Random Reboots?

Ok so right when i got my sprint galaxy nexus (last friday) i rooted and unlocked the bootloader and got right into flashing after running Black Ice rom i was loving it til all a sudden i was getting FC and random reboots, i thought it might of been the rom not liking my phone. So i reflashed and let all my android apps download via market and only restore data of certain ones and restore other apps in titanium. Still issues with random reboots
I then decided to try Gummy and it was working great no force closes or anything then just out of no where my device rebooted for no reason?
I restored apps the same way via play store.
Do you think i should exchange it for another one? Or do u think its an app or what?
Suggestions would be greatly appreciative.

Why are you not asking this question in the rom thread? Because obviously it has to do with something in the rom not interacting with something else nicely. Most likely an app or data in an app which doesn't want to play nice.

because it has happened on 2 roms
Black Ice (Based on Aokp)
Gummy (Aosp)
And it is just random, it is just sitting there and it reboots for no reason.

Pretty sure it's an app. If you have time and patience reload the rom on clean install. Download all the apps fresh from play store do not restore any. On the apps that you feel you must restore data do one at a time, use the phone for a while and see if it does it. Then restore data for the second app you feel that you must restore data on and again run the device for a while all is good move to a third. Eventually you will run into the issue again and just go back one step delete the app that you last installed data for and see if it goes away. Unless you have a logcat of the reboot and you can pinpoint what caused it

[Q] looking for help with bluetooth problems (com.android.phone stopped working)

Hi all,
Today I collected my new car from my dealer, which has a m0bridge carkit built in.
When I connect my phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus, CM10 stable). I get the message "unfortunately the process com.phone.android stopped working".
To find the cause I've taken the following steps:
- fix permissions
- uninstall all apps
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik cache
At this point the problem still exists. If I do a factory data rest (settings -> Backup & reset -> Factory data reset), the problem is gone.
I'm both curious to what's causing this (always looking to learn) and trying to avoid doing a complete reinstall, so what more steps can I take to get closer to the cause of the problem?
Thanks in advance!

Any luck fixing this? I'm getting exactly the same problem on a Desire HD running Jellytime.

solved
It took a while, but I got it figured out. For some reason there was something in my sms storage which caused this. Making a backup of all my sms data, deleting it all and restoring solved it for me.
GazUK: since I can imaging that this is not wat causes this for you, this how I found it. First I made a backup with ClockWorkMod to go back to, after that, using Titanium Backup I started erasing all apps.
The problem still persisted when all apps were uninstalled, so I started to erase system stuff (backup / restore -> set a filter on 'system').
Keep in mind that you will screw up your installation, so uninstall a bunch, reboot and if it boots check if the problem is there.
This way, after a while, I found that for me to get it working I had to erase "Phone/Messaging Storage"
Hope it helps!
The erase data is disabled under phone messaging
How do you enable it?
It wasn't disabled for me. Are you rooted?
Yes
I managed to erase but still get BT error with my car kit

In that case it's something else for you. You can use the same approach, keep deleting stuff until it starts working.
Which rom are you using?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
This happened about a year ago, I was using the most current cyanogenmod at the time.
Latest 10 or 11?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
The latest which was available a year ago. So 10 at most.
If you do a reinstall, is the problem then gone?

I will wipe all my data with factory reset and try for version 11
If it will not work I will try 10
Do you mind taking a snapshot of your build number?

I don't use the phone which had this problem anymore. Besides, it doesn't matter, for me the problem was solved with doing a reinstall with the same rom. In your case it almost sounds like an hardware error.

Unfortunately..everything stopped working

Hi
I was prepping my Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2.2 GSM to be flash with it's first custom rom.
I rooted it while ago, and I've been flashing Rom since my Nexus One, but this is the first time I had my phone with particular issue.
I wiped dalvik and did a backup of the phone via CWM 6.x recovery, after rebooting the phone, nothing worked. I've had literally ALL my apps crash.
Crash with "Unfortunately XXXXXX" has stopped working with everything from the Google Play Store to my Rom Manager.
Any assistance with be appreciated.
Restore your backup from before the issues happened.
Oh will do, but any particular reason why it crashed?
EDIT: Found out the reason, my internal memory was full. Like 0.00kb left.
Deleted 20 apps, and some photos helped.

Error - Unfortunately, S Note has stopped working

using a non-rooted factory default Galaxy Note 2.
I booted it today, then the msg appeared.
i've tried uninstalling the app that i have recently installed thinking that there is conflict.
but still not helping.
anyway to solve this error?
Try clearing data and cache..It should fix

hope what @mannyvinny said helps, I've had this problem once and tried everything (my device was rooted, and restores with TB didn't solve it)
the final solution was a factory reset, then restoring apps from titanium one by one (except for S-note) and then it worked
also, I removed all my notes from the Snotes folder on the sdcard, started snote once, then put the files back in and started it again
(it's 5am here, so if I don't make any sense, I blame life)
As @tmils said he is using factory non-rooted stock, clearing data and cache from app manager is the only way..but if It was rooted, then it would've been fixed using few clicks(using titanium backup)
Titanium Backup is boon for rooted users!

I had the same issue, reloaded firmware, clear data and cache with no fix. I thought about to do a factory reset, but just b4 I was going to do it. I suddenly have an idea just flashed in my mind. This is what I did.... go to setting > my device > S pen > put a check mark on the "Open Popup Note when the pen is detached". Then back to the home screen, pull out the S pen and a mini S note will open. Close it and now you should be able to open the regular S Note. It works on my Note 2. Good luck guys.
It helps but not for long. After a little while problem coming back. For me problem started right after I upgraded to 4.3.
I don't feel like removing everything and cleaning cache as I have notes I don't want to delete. Is samsung planning to release fix for this I'm wondering.
fixed
