Android NBHCREATOR [v0.3] on Ubuntu. FROYO SUPPORT & ADVANCED SETTINGS [July-29-2010]
NBHCreator v 0.3
NBHCreator makes the nbh file for flashing android to nand.
This utility works for Vogue, Polaris and Kaiser.
Currently supporting Donut, Eclair and Froyo
Prerequisites:
1. you need to be running Ubuntu (other Debian distros may work, give it a try) NBHCreator v2.0 will be cross-platform
2. you need to have wine installed ( I am using v1.1.42)
Make sure to "Completely" uninstall previous versions before installing newer versions.
Directions as follows:
a. select the zImage you wish to make an nbh for... try one from here:Working Kaiser GPS!! or here:DZO
b. change parameters to your liking...
c. click on the "compile" button...
d. select output folder.
and Flash Away...
Please Search for how to flash if you don't know how.
that being said...
I welcome any and all criticisms of this program
and I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, questions or comments.
Version 0.3b

-For now...do not save output to a FOLDER on the Desktop.
-DOES NOT WORK YET WITH 2.6.32 ZIMAGES
Version 0.3 (07-29-2010)
-Now Supporting Froyo
-New Advanced Settings for things like Clock speed and Memory.
-Added a Date Stamp option for output filename.
-Removed internal Error checking[/B]
-This version has window issues with the xfce desktop environment. fixed in 0.3b
Version 0.2b (07-01-2010)
-Fixed false errors when creating for Vogue and Polaris
Version 0.2 (06-15-2010)
- Added ability to select zImage with name extentions ie... "zImage-12-06-10"
- Output filename now refects device type ie... "VOGUIMG, POLAIMG and KAISIMG"
- Added some error checking to make sure nbh was built correctly
- misc internal code fixes.
-False Error messages are popping up for vogue and polaris. Resulting nbh should still be usable. Fixed in 0.2b.
Version 0.1 (06-09-2010)
- should work for Kaiser, Vogue and Polaris
- Device specific options
- Settings for hw3d (donut/eclair)
- Settings for Resolution 240x320, 320x428, 320x480
- Settings for Panel Type 1, 2, 3
- Settings for Battery Capacity
- Settings for ppp.nostart (Data)
- May not work with loser's editor (let me know...)
- more options to come
- NBHs are all being named KAISIMG.NBH will be fixed in v0.2
Honestly? I think it rocks, since I'm to lazy to build my own NBH's
I see the similarities, and also the differences, and I think you should continue development personally, it's a different approach, and I can see the possibility to add to it by being able to include boot splashes perhaps, or edited initrd/zimage combinations for instance.
So yeah, keep at it
Yep, sounds like a great idea. A nbh editor is good for beginners, but it would be nice to be able to build your own. Could open up a lot of opportunities for customization.
Just make a Windows and a Mac port as well, for the future.
ok....so far progress is going along very well. I have this functioning on my setup
but I still have to work out making it transferable to other computers.
while I work on this, are there any additions that you would like to see added.
I will see if I can squeeze any changes into the beta release.
What language and GUI toolkit are you using?
It would be fairly portable if written in Python with GTK or Tk.
I am using gambas2 in ubuntu.
I am still trying to port my visual basic knowledge to gambas. it doesn't all function the same.
I have minimal experience in Python. but if you know any good tips I am all open for suggestions.
Now available for testing
really???? no feedback at all???
I have to get around to install Ubuntu, and I don't have the hard disk space for it just yet. Been meaning to go buy a terabyte hard drive to dual boot.
got sources or anything like that so I can haz on gentoo?
currently attempting to break open the deb, will fall back to a vm in worst case.
Edit: As I expected, I found the solution right after posting. Run NBHCreator.gambas from /usr/bin
I'm fairly new to Ubuntu and I've never use Wine before so can't work out how to get this running
The package installed, along with it's dependencies. Now what? How do I run it?
Sorry if this is basic stuff...
richard.
Working ok here. Still need to flash it onto my Kaiser - will report back if I find any problems.
Thank - this is a handy little tool
Edit: Hmm, output file only 4.8K so something is not right. Probably down to me so I'll keep playing.

The install deb should have created a 'start menu' item under /Applications/Other/NBHCreator
that is confirmed under the default Ubuntu window manager 'Gnome'
however I have not tested it in KDE or any other non-gnome window manager.
what window manager are you using?

the resulting nbh must be 3M
DON'T FLASH IF IT ISN'T 3M.
make sure the zImage file is named 'zImage' and not somthing like 'zImage-12-06-10'
I am fixing the next version to allow different names for zImage.

No - I won't be flashing it! The file name is definitely just 'zImage'. Oh well I'll wait for the next version and try again.

I haven't built in a error log into the program but could you run
the NBHCreator.gambas in a terminal and post the output.
what device are you building for and what are your settings?
After restarting Ubuntu your program it is all working as expected. Sorry about that - I should have thought to try that first
yeah, had to throw it into a virtual machine. Nice tool, though.
If someone describes the process in great detail (including the binary formats and all that), I can make a slightly more portable version, if you'd like.
I will be releasing a more cross-platform version after I work out all the bugs.
Keeping it ubuntu for now keeps the distribution of a crappy program to a minimal.
on that note... V0.2 will be out very shortly.
this will address
-input filename variations ie.. 'zImage-12-06-10'
-output filename specific to correct device ie.. 'VOGUIMG,POLAIMG and KAISIMG'
-error checking
-misc fixes

I know this is really too late to ask nowadays... Thank you!
Interop Tools is a brand new registry editor that works on Windows 10 Mobile, It allows you to View, Browse and Edit of registry entries. Great news is that this tool doesn’t need your device to be interop-unlocked for this. The tool has been developed by Gustave M, who is a well-known Windows enthusiast and developer.
How to Download & Install Interop Tools on Windows 10 Mobile:
1. Download the Interop tools Appx file from attachment, unzip
2. Now all you need to do is to turn on the developer option by going to Settings—>Update & Security–>For Developer–>Select Developer Mode and select “yes” when prompted. This enables side-loading of apps.
You should be now able to install “Interop Tools” by tapping on the Appx that you have downloaded in first step.
3. You should be ready to have some fun, though be careful before editing registry unless you know what you are doing.
4. Once installed, the app appears under installed apps
The tool is not Lumia-specific but seems access to restricted keys is only for Lumias.

edit: if you have problem with newer version, simple uninstall app from storage, restart phone and install again.
Interop Tools Beta 1.7.157.0 (fbl_release(gustavem).160621-0900) changelog:
+ New helper runtime component, all core registry editing functionality have been migrated to registryhelper.winmd, as such, there might be new bugs, especially in the registry browser. Please report them if you find any.
+ WinPRTUtil is now also used in the browser and in registry value deleting operations.
~ Fixed an ux issue with light theme enabled.
~ Fixed an issue where HKD would be incorrectly named in certain areas.
~ Fixed an issue where the tool would incorrectly report the state of offline charging when loading the page.

you cant. this is only for WP8.1 devices with W10M... not for native W10M devices (550, 650, 950, 950XL)... you can install on Lumia 950/950XL and change some registry values but you cant access to MTP to use adblock (change hosts file)
Can this be uninstalled from the phone?
EDIT: nvm. I got it. Disable developer mode, try to open app, get error, uninstall
The file works perfectly in nokia lumia 520 windows 10 mobile build 10586.242
but I have a question
which is the benefit of this application?
I have a nokia lumia 520 with windows 10 mobile build 10586,242
but still not unlocked for use XAP files and appx
so this application can give me those benefits?

thank you ... is great news for our lumias

Yeah, I know, that's what I meant- This is great progress from the old way of getting access to these things, but what would really be nice is something similar that allowed adblock.

Hi
I tried changing the video resolution (VideoResolution) registry value from 3 to 4. This opens 4k recording resolutions in camera app on my LUMIA 730 dual sim and also the SLOW MOTION option in video recording. But when recording is pressed it shows the device can't save the video. Im new to this, so if anyone can help to find me any turnarounds or is this due to hardware limitations. Thanks
Looks like file explorer. A search button can.t be aded?

Interop Tools beta 1.2
Changelog:
+ The registry browser value editing dialog now displays the value type and name.
+ The registry browser now correctly handles write errors and will display them to you.
+ The registry editor now saves the history and has a new clear all button to clear all of them.
+ You can now tap a history item in the registry editor and it will fill all fields for you.
~ Improved the Registry browser ui again.
~ The app is now a regular app and not a settings app as there was many requests for this.
~ New icon for the app.
~ Small ui changes on the welcome page.
~ Bug fixes.
Known issues:
* It appears there is an editing issue for the pagingfiles on redstone, where the value is not set, this might be due to the key being reverted automatically. This is under inspection.
? It appears there is an editing issue for the pagingfiles on threshold, where some ";" appears instead of spaces, I can't reproduce it on my side, so if you could confirm or not confirm that to me on twitter that would be great.
Side notes:
* I know I need to add a way to alert from the app of new updates, this is under consideration.
* A small tweak page is in the works, if you have tweak ideas please tweet me them with the page where you found them or yourself if you found it, so I can properly credit peoples.
You may ad poweroff charging. Sure will be a huge succes.

hi guys, I'm also looking for a way to get into the hidden menu of the NAC (3d Connect Nav) Peugeot. My car is a 2008, with CarPlay, Mirrorlink and Android Auto. Now compared to what I saw for the KIA, I would try to figure out if there is a chance to enter the system that is declared Linux, and find a gateway like an android virtual emulator, on which even turns android auto, to install other applications directly on the multimedia of the car. The only 2 codes we know are: 1111 1122, the first for spylogs, the second one gives us a series of info on the system, but apparently they are only legible and there is no way to get inside. In practice using the code 1122 the first time also gave me only info on the radio, but then typing in increasing order the following codes and typing 1122 again, for several times I have drawn many other info. I took pictures that I would like to share with you to find out if there is a chance to find a way.

First of all, does anyone know that LINUX can run Android within? Would it be possible to enter the NAC system to install Android apps?
Any progress here?
I'm also try to hack in the nac.
I scanned for open ports in Bluetooth and Wifi but all ports are closed.
Does anyone has another idea how i can get access to the system files?
The source code is published here.
https://www.groupe-psa.com/en/oss/
It's from the RCC, not the NAC.
RCC is from Bosch and the NAC from Continental.
And it's useless unless you have the login data or the schematics from the board because all ports are closed.
Maybe a secret code open the ports.
But so far only 1111 and 1122 are known.

According to information published on https://fccid.io/ZFW-NACEUR2. This should be the source of the NAC WAVE 2 and 3.
Excludes are sources of proprietary software.
It seems that the software developed for the RCC unit, is (partly?) used for the NAC.
The base of the OS is GENIVI. A linux based OS developed for in car systems.
https://events.static.linuxfound.or...tware updates for Linux-based IVI systems.pdf.
It is designed to prevent the hacking of the system in any way.
For those of you who want to analyze their spy logs after using code 1111, you need to install Qt (qt.io/download) and download the DLT Viewer project (github.com/GENIVI/dlt-viewer). You also need a tool to extract lz4 compressed files (e.g. github.com/lz4/lz4/releases). Once you configure everything you need to extract the .lz4 file (e.g. "1_startup_20190924_181656.dlt.lz4") which results in a .dlt file (e.g. "1_startup_20190924_181656.dlt"). You can then open this in DLT Viewer.
I assume that the Navi 5.0 is using a logger similar to the one described here: github.com/GENIVI/dlt-daemon] . Also based on the information in some of the crash reports, the Navi 5.0 seems to be using Qt apps/objects.
Unfornately I do not really know how to install all these programs.
I could install qt and visual.
But all other failed.
Can you maybe do a tutorial for that?
I would be verry thankful
Regards
i do not understand too how to install these programms , can you eplain , please?
step by step would be the best.
thanks
I'll try to detail the steps for Windows as soon as I get a chance.
I installed Qt 5.12.5 + Microsoft Visual Studio 2015. When configuring the Qt Kit, I selected no C compiler and "Microsoft Visual C++ Compiler 14.0 (x86_amd64)" as the C++ compiler. After that I was able to build and run the DLT Viewer project.
The lz4 command-line utility is pretty straight-forward. Simply run "lz4.exe <file name>.dlt.lz4" to extract the files.
That's a problem fo me, I could install qt and visual but that's all.
I do not have exe files for iz4 and for dlt I do not have too.
So if you could do a tutorial with links step by step it would be verry cool
Thanks

DLT Viewer - Step by Step for Windows
I have been busy, so it took me some time The output of DLT Viewer will probably make no sense to many people, but you can draw your own conclusion at the end. I uninstalled and re-installed everything from scratch to note down each step. This assumes that you have exported the spy logs using code 1111 and that you have placed them on your PC.
Download a tool to extract the lz4 compressed spy logs.
None of the 7-zip tools/plugins worked for me.
From the command-line you can use one of the binaries here: github.com/lz4/lz4/releases . Simply run "lz4.exe <file name>.dlt.lz4" from the command-line to extract the files.
For a GUI interface, see reboot.pro/topic/22062-lz4-compressor . Within the tool, in the VHD file field you need to select your lz4 file (e.g. "1_startup_20190924_181656.dlt.lz4"). Select the output folder in the Lz4 Folder field. Leave the LZ4 field empty. Click on the COMPRESS button to extract the file (I know, the name of the button doesn't make sense).
You should end up with a .dlt file.
Download and install Visual Studio Community Edition 2015: stackoverflow.com/questions/44290672/how-to-download-visual-studio-community-edition-2015-not-2017
During installation select Custom install and Programming Languages -> Visual C++
Download and unzip DLT Viewer: github.com/GENIVI/dlt-viewer/archive/master.zip
Download and install Qt 5.12.6: download.qt.io/official_releases/qt/5.12/5.12.6/qt-opensource-windows-x86-5.12.6.exe
During installation select the following component: Qt -> Qt 5.12.6 -> MSVC 2015 64-bit
Configure the compiler in Qt
Go to the Tools menu -> Options
Select Kits in the left pane -> Kits tab
Click on "Dekstop Qt 5.12.6 ..." under "Auto-detected"
Select for Compiler C: <No compiler>
Select for Compiler C++: Microsoft Visual C++ Compiler 14.0 (amd64)
Compile and run the DLT Viewer project
Within Qt click on Open Project and open the BuildDltViewer.pro project in the unzipped folder of DLT Viewer.
Qt will switch to the Projects page (otherwise click on Projects on the left)
For the Active Project, BuildDltViewer should be selected
Click on Configure Project on the right
Go to the Build menu -> Build Project ...
When the build is finished, go the Build menu -> Run
Go to File -> Open and open one of the .dlt files.
The DLT Viewer manual can be found here: at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/display/PROJ/DLT+Viewer+Manual
I haven't spent much time looking at the DLT Viewer output, so I cannot help anyone to decipher that. Obviously feel free to share any of your findings.
New Codes Found
Nice work, Bob.
I live in Brazil and my Citroen C4 Cactus seems to use this same unit.
I reached the "Expert Mode" pressing MENU for 10 seconds and the tried the 1111 and 1122 codes.
Here 1111 brings me up the "spy" files, that I extracted using a pendrive, lz4.exe and read with a simple text editor, that does not show the file in a structure but give a good idea that what is inside it.
1122 brings only radio information.
Some news, discovered in this interaction:
1144 disabled the system beep.
1155 enabled the system beep.
I´m just downloading the source code to have an idea on how it works.
I found some schematics at web a few months ago. I will try to recover it and post here.
It will be wondering if we can get Android Auto Wireless working with these units.
Regards,
Estefano

Hi,
The 10 iii uses the Snapdragon X51 Modem. This modem seems to be in very few phones at the moment, however, the modem is the same on the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and Nokia X20 . Both of these devices are available in the US and contain some additional bands that the 10 iii does not.
With the Xperia 10 iii most likely not receiving a US Customized firmware in the future, is there any path forward with modifying the bands that are available on the modem?
Currently, my progress is as follows...
1. Root the 10 iii with Magisk -
This is easily done by downloading firmware with XperiFirm, extracting the boot.sin, "unsinning" it to get a boot.img, patching the boot.img with Magisk, and then flashing the modified boot.img with fastboot. To do this, the bootloader must be first unlocked. Simply use the factory method of unlocking the bootloader. Generate a code for the Sony Xperia 10 ii (as the 10 iii isn't listed yet, but the codes are interchangeable, this applies to all iii devices like the 5 and 1, just use the ii codes). Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the device and lose the Sony DRM keys.2. Qualcomm QPST Connection -
Most Qualcomm modems support their QPST application. This diagnostic application allows you to interface with the modem on your phone and change it's parameters. The process to connect to that application involves installing their modem drivers, opening the com port on your pc to connect to your phone, and initiating the connection. Here is a guide on setting it up that pertains to the 1 ii, but is relevant to most Sony devices. Note that the "enable Qualcomm diag" step contains a correction for us....."setprop persistent.sub.eng 1" should be "setprop persist.usb.eng 1" and installing the drivers (9018, not 9020) on the device in device manager should contain the "MI_00" hardware ID instead.3. Digging in to the files
Here is where my roadblock begins and expertise falls off. The modem contains many xml files that can be edited to set bands, enable data features, etc. Most relevant files appear to be in the "policyman" folder. However, my efforts on actually having any edits make any impact have been a zero sum game. Making changes to the band_set_01 and carrier_policy files seems to make no difference on enabled bands, how it connects to my network (Verizon), etc.Any one have any ideas or thoughts? Is this path forward even possible?
Below are links to the policyman files that I extracted from the modem. Feel free to download them and view/modify. If other modem files would like to be looked at, just let me know. Most other files seem to be an unknown file format and not easily modified xml.
Here is a copy of the stock 10 iii policyman folder (note my carrier_policy is standard Verizon) - Download
Here is a copy of a modified band_set_01. I basically added all Verizon bands to all rf_band_lists that could be US related.
I have tried various carrier_policy changes. Also attempted to use generic/pre-made ones from other devices that contain more defined rules. Here is an example of one I tried from a OnePlus 9
Thanks!
Hi, were you really able to root the phone the way you described? Or is this just the theoretical steps? Because currently it's not even possible to unlock the bootloader on this phone (yet, hopefully) which would forbid the flashing of a modified boot.img as far as I know.
Looks like we'll have to wait some more before anything really moves for this phone.

Yes, the device is able to be rooted normally with Magisk. To unlock the bootloader, just generate a code for a Xperia 10 ii, they work just fine. Note that unlocking the bootloader will wipe the device and lose DRM keys. https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/#unlock-code I have edited the OP to include this step.
I can help you to list all devices supported bands and 4G & 5G combinations if you like to contribute log to cacombos.com/contribute. Qualcomm diag option is best for Sony devices when rooted.
You can't edit firmware defined combinations because these are compiled and signed by Qualcomm. To edit these have to recompile from source and sign. And of course the firmware source is not public and signing keys are very secure.

Got it and now supported combinations of this device listed here: https://cacombos.com/device/XQ-BT52 (HW combos).
During logging seems you have only enabled LTE bands 4 and 5.
This device sold in US? This is global model - same sold in Europe too. Device missing US combinations.

Yes, it appears this device only supports bands 4 and 5 for the Verizon Network.
It isn't sold in US, but is sold globally. Most other regions (EU, Asia, Etc) seem to have specific customized firmware with mostly similar bands.
Is there a way to export all the CA combos in a format for the Carrier Policy?

For now there is no tool to export Qualcomm format out.
Was hoping this thread would bear some fruit because if band difference is a solely software matter these days, rooting should allow us full access to all the features of any damn phone.
